When and why humanity faced the Energy Problem, it is a question. What was the problem? How are we trying to handle it since the beginning? Do we have enough resources of renewable energy? Which technologies are mature enough to contribute and take part in the solution? Are they available in the market with compatible prices? What is the role of storage for dealing with the intermittent nature of renewable energy resources? Why do we need to build, operate, integrate and manage energy efficiency, storage and renewable energy in harmony with nature by smart grids in sustainable cities of the future? Is transition to 100% Renewable Energy the solution? If so what else is required to reach this target? What are we going to do with the existing system? Which methodologies and techniques we need to use to realize this transition with minimum costs and externalities? How are we going to justify this transition? Is it only a technology problem? What parameters we need to consider when we are trying to live in harmony with nature? How are we going to readapt human beings to be satisfied with minimum ecological footprint societies? Can human beings build democratic societies where energy efficiency and 100% renewable energy is respected and beneficial for each individual of the communities? Transition to 100% renewables requires planning the future with the information of the future. For reaching this target we need to carry on a multidisciplinary approach to understand and take into consideration the basic constraints and requirements of the living space we are sharing all together in the atmosphere. How to Speed-up the Global Transition to 100% Renewable Energy?

Opis:
This paper attempts to forecast the future of warfare methods in the forthcoming decades of the 21st century. The predictions reflect on the current trends observed in the development of military and civil (dual-use) technologies and changes in thought constructs developed for hostilities. The methods of warfare at the turn of the 21st century are likely to reflect the technological evolution of the modern age. Considering the present-day trends, there is a good probability that our technology-driven lives will transform people into hybrids of biological organisms merged with the technological environment, integrated with the body. Therefore, hostile action against human soldiers could be taken on three major levels: the biological organism, the mass communication technology integrated into the body, and the mental level – both in the conscious and the subconscious sphere. The study into how the soldier’s mental sphere can be influenced to anticipate and shape behaviours may contribute to further research on the third level impact on enemy soldiers. The conclusions formulated in this analysis may carry significant implications for the works on an innovative methodology of the future warfare, accounting for the technological progress in the next decades of the 21st century, and a methodology for countering future military threats.

The introduction of the special issue on the construction of the future of platforms provides the paradigmatic, conceptual and methodological framework for this special issue. Starting from a brief outline of the characteristics of the field of futures studies, the article supports the call to better embed in social and political theory, and frames the special issue, with its constructionist emphasis, as a contribution to this debate. In addition, the article provides an overview of the Delphi+ workshop method that was used, and describes the centralized data gathering process, into which all research articles of this special issue tap, to then produce their distinct analyses. This motivates the need to read this introduction alongside the five research articles that have been included in this special issue.

W niniejszym artykule przybliżam różne dyskursy związane z wpływem nowych technologii, zwłaszcza cyfrowych, na pracę. Skoncentruję się na sześciu: (1) koniec pracy, praca maszyn, bezrobocie technologiczne; (2) „wypłukiwanie środka” – ro-snące albo utrzymujące się zapotrzebowanie na high skills i low skills, malejące zapotrzebowanie na mid skills coraz bardziej podatne na umaszynowienie i algorytmizację; (3) maszyny potrzebne ludziom – ludzie potrzebni maszynom. Praca w kolektywie techno-ludzkim; (4) praca w społecznej fabryce (praca wielości), prosumpcja; (5) „pączkowanie pracy” – metafora nowobudowanego domu: jesteśmy przy fundamentach społeczeństwa informacyjnego; (6) praca rozproszona.
Our knowledge on work is based on the output of sociology of the industrial work. Nowadays we acquire the empirical material on the work in society called postindustrial, information, network, knowledge based one etc.. In this paper methodologically based on the critical analysis of discourses I attempt at bringing closer these discourses related to the impact of new technologies on our understanding of work. I focus on six discourses: (1) End of work, technological unemployment, work of machines, (2) „Washing out” of the center – rising demand of high and low skills, (3) Machines need man – man needs machines; work in techno-human collectives, (4) Dispersed work, prosumption, (5) Work of Multitude, (6) Abundance of work. Metaphor of “the house under construction”.

Opis:
Virtual reality is a technology known since the second half of the 90s of the last century. After several years of extraordinary interest from researchers and industry at the turn of the century, the subject of virtual reality disappeared from the field of interest of media experts, culture researchers and educators. Currently, the problem of the boundaries of the real and the virtual came back thanks to the new wave of simulation technology, as interactive and 3D cinema and television, immersive games, new tactile and motion interfaces and holography. Today we have to deal with the back to the dreams of the matrix as the total immersion. More fascinating in the last few years, however, on the one hand, and concerned on the other, is the dynamic development of augmented reality technology (Augmented Reality), a kind of semi-matrix, where the boundaries between reality and virtuality become more liquid. Development of VR and AR raises important questions about the condition and identity of modern man, immersed in the world of simulation technology, but also raises questions about the status of culture, art and education in the context of the opportunities and the risks of these technologies.

Opis:
The article substantiates the necessity of introducing the newest tech-nologies of teaching English in the process of training future masters – teachers in the system of higher education of Ukraine and professionals-practitioners in other areas of public life of the state. This need is condi-tioned by Euro-integration processes, expansion of international coop-eration of Ukraine, self-affirmation of its citizens in the European and world socio-cultural and economic space. Interactive technologies of teaching foreign languages have been recognized effective means of forming foreign language linguistic competences, tested in institutions of higher education of Ukraine, as they contribute to the formation of such vital and professional competences as information, linguistic, speech, linguistic country study, world-outlook-valuable, communicative, socio-cultural, methodical, research, and so on. This process takes place in the context of the “European Recommendations on Language Education” and the domestic linguodidactics. It is argued that the most effective technologies tested by the authors of the article and their colleagues in Ukraine are the method of projects, the method of brainstorming and the method of business role-playing games. The method of projects motivates students to find ways to inde-pendently solve practical problems and issues, develops the skills of joint educational activities in achieving a specific goal. The method of brain-storming (assault) contributes to the generation of ideas that will help in a small amount of time to solve the task, set to the training group. Its value is in the number of ideas offered, and not only in their quality, although not all ideas will be implemented. The role-playing game helps in mastering the skills of the future professional activity, provides stu-dents with communication, facilitates the transfer of acquired experi-ence, acquires new knowledge, develops communication skills, thinking and imagination. It is concluded that the use of these interactive technologies in the teaching of English is the effective factor in improving the quality of pro-fessional and communicative training of the future teachers of foreign languages in institutions of higher and general secondary education of Ukraine, ensuring their competitiveness in the European educational space.

The article considers the advantages and disadvantages of implementing distance learning for medical students’ training in quarantine. The issues of using e-learning methods in distance learning have been analysed. In the teaching methodology, the questions of determining the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of implementing distance learning in the educational space and distinguishing between the concepts of “distance learning” and “e-learning” appear. The term “e-learning” is often interpreted as synonymous with “distance learning”, but the authors of this article note that this is not entirely correct. E-learning is only one of the forms used in combination with other forms of learning. Distance learning at the modern level involves the implementation of the educational process only by the network. Distance learning is a method of attending class even if students cannot be there physically. According to the Regulation “On distance learning” in Poltava State Medical University, “distance learning is a set of educational services provided through modern psychological, pedagogical, information and communication technologies”. The purpose of distance learning at the university is to introduce modern information and communication technologies to train the specialists at the educational and qualification levels “bachelor” and “master”, training programmes for interns, and advanced training of doctors according to national educational standards. The article analyses the modern pedagogical research of Ukrainian and foreign schools and presents the results of the analysis of students’ and teachers’ opinions on the introduction of distance learning in the educational process. The article also presents the results of implementing distance education at the Poltava State Medical University in the disciplines “Medical Physics” and “Medical Informatics”. The result of the study proved that distance learning has only advantages theoretically. In practice, many problems need to be solved.
