    This article discusses the document Meeting Jesus, presented by the Italian Episcopal Commission. In seeking to give guide-lines for the proclamation and catechesis of the faith in Italy it becomes one of the most important documents in recent years that deal with the new evangelization that assists the whole Church in the announcing of the Gospel and the journey of faith.The document highlights certain homogeneity in reading the cultural, social, ecclesial and pastoral situation in which the pro-cesses of formation and education are realized. This helps the development of the “catechetical needs” and the specific paths of di-ocesan and national guidelines. It also reveals the possibility of a comparison at the inter-diocesan level between formators and a mutual support in the evaluation of projects and activity. To realize the training of formators and of members of the diocesan teams “in the wise work of coordinating and leading” it is important to work on the same lines proposed by the Guidelines.

    While establishing the lay ministry of the catechist, Pope Francis expressed his hope that, as was the case in Christian antiquity, the catechist—because of the tasks entrusted to him—would be simultaneously a witness of faith, a master and a mystagogue, a companion and an educator who teaches on behalf of the Church. The aim of this article is to highlight the mystagogical dimension of the education of catechists preparing to enter the ministry in parish communities, and to present the related directions of pastoral activities carried out in the Church of Katowice as part of the Archdiocesan Centre for Pastoral Formation. The main research problem concerns the nature of the formation of catechists serving in parish communities and their specific competences. The study uses the methods of analysis and synthesis. The analysis of catechetical documents, carried out in the light of chronologically (sequentially) complementary guidelines concerning catechists' formation enabled to distinguish the mystagogical elements of the theological-pastoral formation of catechists. The article emphasises the postulate expressed in the Catechetical Directory for the formation of catechists as “witnesses of faith and mystagogues” and the lay ministry of the catechist established by Pope Francis, as a possibility and necessity for the formation of two types of catechists that complement each other through their competences: the school catechist—a teacher of religious education, and the catechist who undertakes ministry in the parish community. Pastoral initiatives supporting the formation of parish catechists conducted in the Archdiocese of Katowice are presented as an example of catechetical-pastoral implementation of the postulated activities. They serve as an inspiration for activities in other formation centres.

    Ustanawiając posługę świecką katechety, papież Franciszek wyraził nadzieję, iż podobnie jak miało to miejsce w chrześcijańskiej starożytności, katecheta ze względu na powierzone mu zadania będzie zarazem świadkiem wiary, mistrzem i mistagogiem, towarzyszem i pedagogiem, który naucza w imieniu Kościoła. Celem naukowym artykułu jest wydobycie mistagogicznego wymiaru formacji katechetów przygotowujących się do podjęcia posługi we wspólnotach parafialnych oraz prezentacja związanych z nią kierunków działań duszpasterskich, prowadzonych w katowickim Kościele w ramach Archidiecezjalnego Centrum Formacji Pastoralnej. Główny problem badawczy wyraża się w pytaniu o charakter formacji katechetów posługujących we wspólnotach parafialnych oraz ich szczególne kompetencje. Dla opracowania problemu posłużono się metodami analizy i syntezy. Analiza dokumentów katechetycznych, przeprowadzona w świetle chronologicznie (sekwencyjnie) dopełniających się wskazań odnośnie do formacji katechetów, pozwoliła na wyodrębnienie mistagogicznych elementów teologiczno-pastoralnej formacji katechetów. Wyrażony w Dyrektorium katechetycznym postulat formacji katechetów jako „świadków wiary i mistagogów” oraz ustanowioną przez Franciszka posługę świecką katechety artykuł akcentuje jako możliwość i konieczność formacji dwóch dopełniających się dzięki posiadanym kompetencjom typów katechetów: katechety szkolnego – nauczyciela religii, oraz katechety (katechisty) – podejmującego posługę we wspólnocie parafialnej. Jako przykład katechetyczno-duszpasterskiej realizacji postulowanych działań przedstawiono inicjatywy duszpasterskie wspierające formację katechetów parafialnych prowadzone w Archidiecezji Katowickiej. Stanowią one inspirację dla działań podejmowanych w innych ośrodkach formacyjnych.

    Artykuł jest próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie: na ile nowe Dyrektorium o katechizacji inspiruje się natchnionym przez Boga Pismem Świętym? Badania wykazały, że dokument stanowi kolejne, dynamiczne rozwinięcie dwóch wcześniejszych tekstów, z którymi zachowuje ciągłość, ale różni się nowym usystematyzowaniem ujęcia formacji katechetów i oczywiście uwzględnieniem dorobku katechetyków oraz współczesnego Magisterium Kościoła. Bogactwo cytatów z Pisma św., zawarte w dyrektorium, nie tylko potwierdza biblijny charakter katechezy, ale z nowym dynamizmem wskazuje możliwości biblijnej animacji katechezy na każdym etapie jej rozwoju. Ważny wniosek płynący z pytania postawionego na początku dotyczy faktu, że nie należy tylko powtarzać wymienionych sformułowań kerygmatu z przeszłości. Od katechety wymaga się nie tylko znajomości wyrażeń biblijnych, ale jest on wręcz inspirowany, aby ucieleśniał kerygmat na potrzeby współczesnych osób i wspólnot. Opracowanie Bożej pedagogii w historii zbawienia w dyrektorium jest na wskroś biblijne. Magisterium Kościoła w zakresie katechezy ukazuje Objawienie jako wielkie dzieło wychowawcze Boga, które jest przeniknięte narracją biblijną. Analiza biblijna, połączona z refleksją katechetyczną, ukazuje Boga Ojca jako genialnego wychowawcę, który przekształca dzieje swojego ludu w lekcje mądrości (por. Pwt 4,36-40; 11,2-7), dostosowując się do wieku i sytuacji, w której lud ten żyje. Przedstawia Bożą pedagogię w misterium Wcielenia. Ukazuje Ducha Świętego, którego otrzymali uczniowie i byli prowadzeni przez Pocieszyciela do poznania prawdy, „aż po krańce ziemi” (Dz 1,8), dawali świadectwo o Słowie życia, którego słuchali, które oglądali i którego dotykali (por. 1 J 1,1; DK 162). Refleksja odpowiedzialnych za katechizację syntetycznie ukazała, że ewangeliczne opowieści są potwierdzeniem wychowawczego charakteru relacji Jezusa i mogą także dziś inspirować pedagogiczne działanie Kościoła. Podsumowując obecność 187 cytatów biblijnych w głównym katechetycznym dokumencie Kościoła katolickiego należy podkreślić, że dla katechetów są one echem słów ich powołania: „Idźcie na cały świat i głoście Ewangelię wszelkiemu stworzeniu!” (Mk 16,15). Echo tych słów rozbrzmiewa we współczesnych sytuacjach przekazu wiary, a to znaczy, że słowo Boże jest przekazywane w żywej Tradycji Kościoła, która stawia czoła różnym wyzwaniom związanym z kulturą cyfrową, globalizacją kultury i innym współczesnym wyzwaniom.
    The article is an attempt to answer the question to what extent the new Directory for Catechesis is inspired by the divinely inspired Scriptures? The research has shown that the document is a further, dynamic development of the two previous texts, with which it maintains continuity, but it differs in a new systematic approach to the formation of catechists and, of course, in taking into account the work of catechists and the contemporary Church Magisterium. The wealth of quotations from the Holy Scriptures contained in the Directory not only confirms the biblical character of catechesis, but with a new dynamism indicates the possibilities of biblical animation of catechesis at each stage of its development. An important conclusion drawn from the question posed at the beginning concerns the fact that one should not merely repeat the listed formulations of the kerygma from the past. Not only is the catechist required to know the biblical expressions, but he is even inspired to embody the kerygma for the needs of contemporary individuals and communities. The elaboration of God’s pedagogy in salvation history in the Directory is thoroughly biblical. The Church’s magisterium on catechesis presents Revelation as God’s great educational work, which is permeated by the biblical narrative. Biblical analysis combined with catechetical reflection reveals God the Father as an ingenious educator who transforms the history of his people into lessons of wisdom (cf. Deut 4:36-40; 11:2-7), adapting himself to the age and situation in which the people live. It reveals God’s pedagogy in the mystery of the Incarnation. It shows the Holy Spirit, whom the disciples received and were led by the Comforter to the knowledge of the truth, „to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8) gave witness to the Word of life which they had heard, seen and touched (cf. 1 Jn 1:1; DK 162). The reflection of those responsible for catechization synthetically showed that the Gospel stories are a confirmation of the educative character of Jesus’ account and can also inspire the pedagogical action of the Church today. Summing up the presence of 187 biblical quotations in the main catechetical document of the Catholic Church, it should be emphasized that for catechists they echo the words of their vocation: „Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature!” (Mk 16:15). The echo of these words resounds in contemporary situations of transmission of the faith, and this means that the Word of God is transmitted in the living Tradition of the Church, which confronts the various challenges of digital culture, cultural globalisation and other contemporary challenges.

    Opis:
    The late Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Białystok, Edward Kisiel, was born in Jundziłło in 1918. Through his pastoral activity, he established catechesis within the archdiocese and, consequently, was closely connected with the catechists and the catechetical milieu of the local Church. Although 25 years have passed since Archbishop Kisiel’s death, his memory is still very much alive among catechists and his students and pupils. As a priest because of God’s providence and the express decision of Archbishop Romuald Jałbrzykowski and his successors to the episcopal seat in Białystok; as bishop named by Pope Paul VI; and as an archbishop appointed by John Paul II, Archbishop Edward Kisiel dedicated his entire life to fervently ensuring that he preached the Gospel as the Good News about Jesus Christ. He expressed this mission in his episcopal motto “Evangelizare misit me [Sent to preach the Gospel].” The following article discusses the history of catechesis in Białystok and provides an overview of the years that Fr. Edward Kisiel served pastorally, initially as bishop and then as the first metropolitan archbishop of Białystok. From the moment that he received his episcopal consecration and took possession of the diocese, the Church entrusted him with the task to lead, direct, and properly coordinate the provision of catechesis within his diocese; to foster and sustain sincere catechetical fervor; and to ensure that a living and fruitful faith was cultivated in the people entrusted to his care.
    W 1918 roku w Jundziłowie przyszedł na świat Edward Kisiel, późniejszy kapłan i arcybiskup metropolita białostocki. Poprzez swoją działalność duszpasterską kreował rzeczywistość katechetyczną stąd też był mocno związana ze środowiskiem katechetów Kościoła białostockiego. Pomimo, iż mija 25 lat od jego śmierci pozostaje on w żywej pamięci katechetyków, katechetów oraz swoich uczniów i wychowanków. Ks. abp Edward Kisiel, jako kapłan, z woli Opatrzności Bożej, wyrażonej decyzjami abp Romualda Jałbrzykowskiego i jego następców na stolicy biskupiej w Białymstoku, następnie jako biskup mianowany przez papieża Pawła VI i metropolita białostocki powołany przez Jana Pawła II, całe swoje życie poświęcił gorliwemu zatroskaniu o głoszenie Ewangelii, jako Dobrej Nowiny o Jezusie Chrystusie. Wyraził to w swoim biskupim zawołaniu „Evangelizare misit me”. Niniejszy artykuł wpisuje się w nurt zagadnień związanych z historią katechezy i jest próbą panoramicznego spojrzenia na lata pasterskiej posługi biskupa a następnie arcybiskupa Edwarda Kisiela, pierwszego metropolity białostockiego, któremu z chwilą święceń biskupich i objęcia diecezji Kościół powierzył zadanie prowadzenia, kierowania, właściwego koordynowania katechezy w diecezji oraz podtrzymywania w niej szczerego zapału katechetycznego oraz dbania o rozwój żywej i owocnej wiary powierzonego ludu.
