Opis:
This paper shows the educational aspects of video game Minecraft in primary education. It is based on a systematic review and interviews conducted with fourteen players of the aforementioned game as well as an analysis of interviews with the creator of Young Programmer Academy and an educator of an IT class. The statements of users (players) and educators point to the potential uses of the game in learning and acquiring social skills. In the game, students create their own worlds, develop their imagination and spatial thinking, gain knowledge about the basics of technology, physics and chemistry, as well as enrich their knowledge about nature. Probably for those reasons the game is popular in Norwegian and Swedish schools, where units based on Minecraft are often incorporated by teachers into their lessons.

Opis:
The concept of a knowledge-based economy assumes that knowledge is the main factor of socio- economic development and the formation of new economic structures. Knowledge is necessary to generate and implement innovations in their broad sense. Knowledge acquired as a result of formal education quickly becomes outdated or insufficient, hence the need for continuous learning. Continuing education includes all the forms of learning that are pursued subsequent to the completion of initial education and training. It is implemented in three forms: formal, semi-formal and informal. The aim of the study is to verify whether the growing popularity of continuing education in the EU member countries is reflected by changes in the level of innovation. The methods used to achieve the study goal included critical review of literature, analysis of the existing statistical data and comparative analysis. The continuing semi-formal and informal education implemented in the form of training sessions and courses that lead to obtaining qualifications recognised within the specific institution (workplace, organisation, etc.) is an important factor determining the level of innovation in the economy. Countries where a significant proportion of labour force is involved in lifelong learning achieve a higher level of innovation than those where this aspect of educational activity is undervalued.
Edukacja pozaformalna i nieformalna dorosłych w postaci szkoleń i kursów, które prowadzą do uzyskania kwalifikacji uznawanych wewnątrz danej instytucji (zakładu pracy, organizacji itp.), stanowi ważny czynnik determinujący poziom innowacyjności gospodarki. Kraje, w których w kształcenie przez całe życie są zaangażowane znaczne zasoby siły roboczej, osiągają lepsze wyniki w poziomie innowacyjności niż kraje, w których ten obszar aktywności edukacyjnej jest niedoceniany.

The meaning of responsibility, especially in young adults, plays an important role in contemporary life. It has an impact on the family life, social relations, ways of a work performance and many other aspects. The problem of taking responsibility by present-day people is discussed on different levels and in different areas. The point of view of adult learners of the formal education system still remains overlooked in academic discourse. This article presents adult learners’ understanding of the concept of adulthood and its important component, responsibility. The present study examined opinions of learners attending upper secondary school for adults, using the phenomenography method. In anonymous survey with open-ended questions, 94 voluntary participants (aged 18–63) took part. This qualitative study examined how adult learners begin to recognize the importance of a sense of responsibility for themselves and how it influences their life. The results of the study indicate the traditional understanding of the concept of adulthood by adult learners. Personal development, as a result of a variety of life experiences, makes increase of the importance of responsibility for themselves, their family and surrounding. Though different life difficulties, awkwardness, lack of autonomy, the value of responsibility becomes more significant.

Aim. The aim of the research is to investigate the relationship between formal education and female entrepreneurship in Uganda. This research hopes to contribute to the literature on education and women’s entrepreneurship in this country. Methods. Data is collected from 109 women through semi structured interviews. These are participants from the agribusiness sector and own businesses ranging from market stalls, retail shops to street businesses. Through the iterative process, emerging themes are analysed and discussed. Results. The research finds that formal education programs and macroeconomic policies negatively impact formal education and female entrepreneurship. Macroeconomic policies such as privatisation and the programs of universal formal education do not incentivize students (specifically female ones) to pursue a full formal education, influencing them to leave schools early for necessity entrepreneurship to meet immediate needs. Conclusions. Even though the study indicates that a formal education demonstrates high outcomes in terms of economic growth and development, the education level attained by women entrepreneurs is insufficient to meet true entrepreneurial success. Furthermore, the macroeconomic environment adds to the challenge of successful women entrepreneurship. Originality. Various economic initiatives have been implemented in the quest for gender parity in education and women empowerment in Uganda since its independence. Statistics have demonstrated an increase in women’s education and empowerment through entrepreneurship, however, such data do not necessarily reflect economic development. The results suggest that the relationship between formal education and women entrepreneurship is more complex and nuanced than previously believed.

Aim. The aim of the contribution is to evaluate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Slovak economy. We analyzed the pertinent data relating to Slovakia's economy, tourism, and education infrastructures, and also the measures introduced during the pandemic which affected them. Methods. The paper is mainly based on descriptive, analytical and statistical methods, and based on global statistics data, studies, and research conducted in this field. Results. In 2020, the Slovak economy decreased by 9.3%. The reason was not only domestic measures against the spread of the coronavirus, but also a slump in foreign demand. The growth of the Slovak economy had already slowed during 2019, even before the onset of the COVID-19 disease. Extensive travel restrictions, especially at the international level, fundamentally affected the total number of visitors, in particular during the period March to August 2021. Almost 1.6 million visitors stayed in hotels, boarding houses, and other accommodation facilities in Slovakia during this period of the pandemic, which represented a decrease of almost 54% when compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019.     Conclusion. The significant deterioration of the economy was the result of a large number of significant restrictive measures taken to stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease. The factor of the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the future of tourism and education, bringing changes to their direction and economic benefits. This pandemic has significantly affected education in Slovakia and worldwide, and we are following its transformation.

„zewnątrzsterownymi”, i ludzie, podejmujący doskonalenie siebie (we wszystkich stronach własnej osobowości), aby sprawnie wykonywać zadania, które stawia przed nimi życie („wewnątrzsterowni”).
The paper presents a critical review of the positions on self-education in Poland after World War II. In conclusion, the author hypothesizes that there exist two types of people engaged in self-education. One type is applied to those who commit themselves to self-education in order to become similar to specific pattern and those people are referred to as “other-directed”; another one refers to people taking self improvement (in all sides of their own personality) to efficiently perform tasks that life puts in front of them (inner-directed).

The article presents the results of research on intellectual activity of primary school pupils participating in extracurricular activities, which were carried out under the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education entitled "Young Explorer's University". The research was carried out on specially organised classes in the form of non-formal education with a developed curriculum. The main research method was the diagnostic survey method, in which the technique was a questionnaire and the tool was a knowledge test. It was carried out using the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) technique. In the article, most attention is paid to the change of intellectual activity in the context of pupils' cognitive processes in the adopted categories of tasks, i.e. memory, comprehension and use of information in typical and problematic situations, the concept of which was adopted on the basis of B. Programmes of formal education establish a systematic transfer of knowledge as well as universal values from one generation to another. By that, they ensure the survival of social structures, prevent radical disruptions in their continuity, and serve as basis for general development of a society. Their content and didactic arrangements include interweaving of two basic aspects: the cognitive one and the one related to vzgoja (i.e. upbringing, moral/value education etc.). The latter aims to achieve the ideals of a tolerant, just and lifelong learning society, but seems to be facing increasing challenges, mainly emerging from neoliberal capitalist mentality. Art history as a school subject area in elementary and secondary education may provide an insight beneath the surface of historical events. Thus, it helps develop a critical view towards them and consequently towards the present real-life situations, which contributes to ascending the taxonomic scale of conative educational goals.
