Opis:
Many traditional professional development programs that are initiated to equip ESL teachers with knowledge and skills have been futile for numerous reasons. This paper addresses a gap in the recent research of ESL teachers’ professional development. Literature has revealed many shortcomings of the traditional and online professional development programs that are widely conducted; thus, an implementation framework of flipped professional development program is proposed in this paper, based on Malaysian educational practices. Integrated theories of Zone Proximal Teacher Development (ZPTD) and revised Bloom’s Taxonomy are adapted in designing the Flipped Teacher Professional Development (FiT-PD). The implementation of the FiT-PD program is conducted in the four Train-to-Learn (TL) stages; remembering and understanding (TL-1) conducted in face-to face mode, applying and analysis (TL-2) conducted via online, evaluation (TL-3) conducted in face-to-face mode and finally creating (TL-4) conducted via online. Thus, the paper recommends an implementation framework of flipped teacher professional development. The recommendations assist educational policymakers to strategize better planning and organize flipped professional teacher professional development (Fit-PD) for ESL teachers.

Opis:
The emergence of flipped instruction has provided new opportunities to improve English language learning. The present study attempted to investigate the effects of flipped learning strategy on enhancing the vocabulary knowledge of Iranian EFL learners. To this end, the authors assigned 26 learners from an English institute to the flipped and conventional groups. They adopted a two-group counterbalanced design in this research. In the flipped classroom, the teacher posted the course materials via Telegram in advance to the class. Inside the classroom, the participants engaged in various peer and group activities including pre-communicative sentence arrangement, communicative tasks, pair, and group discussion, role-play and storytelling. The data were from multiple data sources including a vocabulary knowledge test, a student-recorded portfolio and interviews. The results revealed that the participants performed better in the conventional classroom than the flipped learning classroom. However, they did not have positive attitudes toward inverted learning. The authors presented insights into the impacts of flipped instruction on the quality of vocabulary learning and offered recommendations and implications for future practice.

Opis:
The objective of this investigation is to determine if the “flipped” model can be combined with hybrid learning as to create the “flipped-hybrid” classroom. The flipped classroom refers to an educational model where the traditional practice of dedicating class time to direct instruction is inverted so that students receive initial content instruction at home. In addition to this, students in this study’s “flipped hybrid” classroom participated in synchronous online conversations with native speakers and engaged in pre-class activities, thus making a significant component of the course online. The participants in this study included college level Spanish students and lasted the duration of the spring 2017 semester. Results from this pilot study suggest that the “flippedhybrid” technique is a viable alternative to the traditional classroom, provides students with additional opportunities to use the language in authentic situations, and encourages more spontaneous language use. A detailed description of the “flipped-hybrid” classroom and how it differs from a hybrid or a flipped classroom is included, as well as pedagogical implications.

The paper first brings an overview of spoken interaction in FL and flipped learning principles. This overview is followed by a thorough didactic report on how these two processes can be merged, how teaching materials can be prepared, and how the teaching and learning process can be systematically developed in order to extensively support learners’ efforts to speak at level B1 in Italian as a FL. Both positive and less positive aspects of a one-semester project are discussed. Finally, some conclusive glotodidactic implications stemming from the experience are proposed.

Opis:
Our paper focuses on the implementation of the flipped classroom model with the students of the subject ICT for EFL teaching and learning at a Spanish university. This pedagogical approach, generally speaking, reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content outside the classroom and working on it in class. The ultimate goal of our research is to evaluate the aforementioned model, used with a sample of 40 students, through a mixed-method approach. To this aim, a satisfaction survey (Gilboy, Heinerichs & Pazzaglia, 2015) plus two open-ended questions were administered to participants in the study. The results obtained, through both quantitative and qualitative techniques, reveal that the majority of the students completing the evaluation preferred the flipped method compared with the traditional one.

Opis:
The paper is devoted to utilisation of flipped learning for improving educational quality for IT students. The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of flipped learning, the obstacles for its adoption are also described. The modification of educational functions, roles, actions, and interconnections of the participants during implementation of flipped learning is shown. Flipped learning implementation algorithm is proposed for a university discipline. Uniform architecture for flipped course which consists of face-to-face and online parts is provided. Forms and requirements for e-content are described. Approaches and technologies for implementing the online part of flipped learning are also discussed. Innovative educational technologies which may be useful at the stages of meaning realisation and knowledge reflection as well as for creating professional students’ skills are proposed. The proposed solutions are uniform and formed by generalisation of the knowledge about the data domain, they can be utilised at Ukrainian universities.
Opisano formularze i wymagania dotyczące treści elektronicznych.

This paper investigates the effectiveness of the flipped classroom approach on the performance of a group of students in a biostatistics course at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU). A questionnaire and the class performance are used as the study instruments to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. The results are compared with another homogeneous group of students using conventional learning. Statistical analysis is carried out to check the significant difference between the two groups. The analysis reveals that the flipped classroom had better class performance and a higher level of satisfaction than conventional learning.

Mobile technologies have increasingly become more and more widespread not only for making our daily lives easier and simpler, but also for their enormous potential in educational development. This case study examines university students’ satisfaction with and perceptions towards the use of blended learning and flipped classroom models in foreign language learning (FLL) contexts. The methodology used in this study involves the descriptive and quantitative analysis of responses generated from students studying English as a foreign language at the Faculty of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan. The analysis of these responses gave the author of this study an idea about what factors a teacher should take into account when introducing blended learning and flipped classroom models into a classroom.
