Opis:
The article addresses the problem of determining the sequence of entering orders for production in a flexible manufacturing system implementing technological operations of cutting sheet metal. Adopting a specific ranking of production orders gives rise to the vector of delays and waste in the form of incompletely used sheets. A new method was postulated for determining the optimal sequence of orders in terms of two criteria: the total cost of delays and the amount of production waste. The examples illustrate the advantages of the proposed method compared with the popular heuristic principles.

Opis:
The presented method is constructed for optimum scheduling in production lines with parallel machines and without intermediate buffers. The production system simultaneously performs operations on various types of products. Multi-option products were taken into account – products of a given type may differ in terms of details. This allows providing for individual requirements of the customers. The one-level approach to scheduling for multioption products is presented. The integer programming is used in the method – optimum solutions are determined: the shortest schedules for multi-option products. Due to the lack of the intermediate buffers, two possibilities are taken into account: no-wait scheduling, possibility of the machines being blocked by products awaiting further operations. These two types of organizing the flow through the production line were compared using computational experiments, the results of which are presented in the paper.

Opis:
Because flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) are discrete event systems (DES), their modelling and control by means of Petri nets (PN) is widely used. While PN transitions are observable and controllable and PN places are measurable, place/transition PN (P/T PN) are suffcient for this aim. However, when some PN transitions are unobservable and/or uncontrollable and some places are non-measurable/unobservable, P/T PN are insufficient for modelling and especially for control. In such a case interpreted Petri nets (IPN) seem to be an appropriate replacement for P/T PN. In this paper a possibility of usage of IPN for FMS modelling and control is pointed out. Illustrative examples as well as the case study on a robotized assembly cell are introduced. By means of using timed PN (TPN) also the performance evaluation of the IPN model of controlled plant is accomplished whereby the simulation in Matlab.

Opis:
Markets are already dynamic, and will continue to be so in the future. The pressure of customers / users for substantial product and service customization increases. Therefore, their demands must be met in a highly flexible, responsive and adaptable manner. The structural changes in company manufacturing systems need to be quickly adapted to the changing requirements and responded to in real-time. Production must not only be highly flexible with high-quality services, but it must be ready for work in integrated network structures. A logical response to these demands is the further development of industrial production ready for the changes presented in the forecasts of the fourth industrial revolution. In essence, it is a project of digitalization and sophistication of the industry. The new designs of highly integrated manufacturing systems and their clusters will ensure communication between the people and the means of production, as well as the production systems and other physical objects.
