    Marriage is an important event in the life of engaged couple as well as the whole community of believers. The preparation for marriage requires that the couple should be introduced into the Catholic ecclesial teaching about the rights and duties which result from contracted marriage. The article presents the issue of preparation for marriage; the stages according to the Apostolic Exhortation Familiaris Consortio. The study includes the following issues: the preparation stage; the need of preparation to marriage; stages and content of the preparation; people responsible for the preparation; permission to celebrate marriage of baptized individuals who are not sufficiently prepared.

    Artykuł przedstawia ujęcie duchowości małżeńskiej w adhortacjach apostolskich Familiaris consortio i Amoris laetitia oraz prezentuje podobieństwa i różnice dotyczące tego zagadnienia w obydwu dokumentach. Posłużono się metodą analizy tekstów źródłowych z wykorzystaniem dostępnych opracowań, a także metodą porównawczą i dedukcyjną. W pierwszej części artykułu omówione zostały pojęcia duchowości chrześcijańskiej oraz duchowości małżeńskiej. Część druga stanowi analizę adhortacji Familiaris consortio pod kątem elementów duchowości małżeńskiej. W części trzeciej przeprowadzono analizę koncepcji duchowości małżeńskiej zawartej w adhortacji Amoris laetitia, opierając się przede wszystkim na treści rozdziału dziewiątego dokumentu. Część czwarta omawia podobieństwa i różnice w nauczaniu obydwu adhortacji. Familiaris consortio i Amoris laetitia przedstawiają podobną dynamikę duchowości małżeńskiej i dobrze się uzupełniają. Jan Paweł II bardziej szczegółowo przedstawia różne formy modlitewne, natomiast Franciszek w większym stopniu skupia się na konkretnych czynach miłości.
    The article presents the take on marital spirituality in the apostolic exhortations Familiaris Consortio and Amoris Laetitia, and shows the similarities and differences between both documents regarding the discussed issue. Source texts are analyzed with the use of available scholarly studies, the comparative and deductive methods being likewise employed. The first part of the article discusses the concepts of Christian spirituality and marital spirituality. The second part is an analysis of the exhortation Familiaris Consortio as regards elements of marital spirituality. In the third part, an analysis of the concept of marital spirituality contained in the exhortation Amoris Laetitia is carried out, based primarily on the content of the document’s chapter nine. The fourth section discusses the similarities and differences in the teaching of the two exhortations. Familiaris Consortio and Amoris laetitia represent similar dynamics of conjugal spirituality and complement each other well. John Paul II describes the various forms of prayer in more detail, while Francis focuses more on concrete acts of love.

    The anthropological, cultural, social and religious changes taking place over the last decades have strongly influenced the shape of marriage and family life. By reading “the signs of the times, ”the Church undertakes a reflection on issues related to marriage and the family. In the dimension of the Catholic Church, this reflection is made especially during synods of bishops which yield apostolic exhortations presenting renewed visions of pastoral care. Regarding marriage and family, they are found in John Paul II’s exhortation Familiaris Consortio and Francis’ exhortation Amoris Laetitia. This article addresses the issue connected with mutual relationships between the pastoral concepts contained in these documents. Its presentation revolves around three parts which correspond to the methodology of pastoral-theological reflection: evangelical discernment of the situation of marriage and the family (cairological premise), establishment of pastoral paradigms (criteriological premise) and directions of pastoral solutions (pastoral-praxeological conclusion). The article shows both Amoris Laetitia’s continuation of the concept of pastoral care of families presented in Familiaris Consortio and the originality of thoughts and change of pastoral paradigms in the teaching of Pope Francis.

    The concept of marital communio amoris expressed in the apostolic exhortations Familiaris Consortio of John Paul II and Amoris Laetitia of Pope Francis is the subject of this paper. In theology, this phrase has generally been used to describe the relationship of the Divine Persons in the Trinity. The phrase communio amoris in relation to marriage and family comes from the theological thought of John Paul II. The Pope used this term several times in the exhortation. An important issue is the reference of the phrase “communion of love” to spouses entering into a sacramental union. Pope Francis, although he uses the phrase to refer to Trinitarian relationships, does not explicitly use this expression to refer to marital relationships. Communio amoris, however, can be read into the concept of marital love presented in Amoris Laetitia.

    The article compares the teaching contained in the exhortation of John Paul II entitled Familiaris consortio and the exhortation of Pope Francis entitled Amoris laetitia. The subject taken for the comparison is preparation for marriage. The analysis of both exhortations has shown that Pope Francis uses a slightly different terminology regarding the same stages of formation. Francis uses the following rich images concerning the stages of preparation for marriage: “education of love”, “maturation of love” and “superiority of love”. Francis deepens the personalistic thought of John Paul II. The analysis shows the continuity of the pastoral concept present in both examined documents.

Wraz z dokumentem przygotowawczym do niego poszczególnym episkopatom rozesłany został również kwestionariusz, zawierający pytania dotyczące recepcji katolickiego nauczania na temat rodziny, skali różnego rodzaju trudnych przypadków oraz doświadczeń duszpasterskich, jakie w odpowiadaniu na nie mają Kościoły lokalne. Wśród owych sytuacji, wyszczególnionych w dokumencie pojawiła się również kwestia ochrzczonych, którzy po rozwodzie weszli w nowy, niesakramentalny związek. Autorzy kwestionariusza pytają w nim o podanie odsetka wiernych, których ten problem dotyczy, zdiagnozowanie sposobu, w jaki przeżywają swój problem, oraz ocenę stopnia objęcia ich przez odpowiednie programy duszpasterskie.W rzeczywistości Kościoła w Polsce problem ten bez wątpienia w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach przybrał na sile wraz ze znacznym wzrostem liczby rozwodów i ponownych związków, zawieranych przez osoby rozwiedzione. Można wśród nich zaobserwować całą paletę stanów przeżywanych w związku z owym trudnym położeniem: od obojętności, poczucia społecznego dyskomfortu, pretensji, rozżalenia, poczucia odtrącenia aż po szczerą tęsknotę za życiem sakramentalnym i autentyczny żal z powodu zła, które się wydarzyło. Ze smutkiem można też stwierdzić, że – mimo obecności tej kwestii w programach duszpasterskich i odważnych prekursorskich działań poszczególnych kapłanów i zakonników – duszpasterstwo związków niesakramentalnych w takim stopniu, w jakim realizowane jest przez polski Kościół, nie jest wystarczającą odpowiedzią na tenże problem.
    The crisis of a family that destroys the western civilization is the great challenge to Church to evangelize those who have lost their faith. The family is the basic environment of transmission of faith and this question should be taken into consideration. This problem induced the Pope Francis to  devote  the  approaching  General  Synod  of  Bishops  to  discussing  this  matter.  Along  with a preparatory document to the Synod, the questionnaire has been sent to each episcopate. It contained questions concerning the reception of the Catholic teaching on the family, all kinds of difficult cases and pastoral experience which local churches have in answering these problems. Among other things, specified in the document, there appeared the question of the baptized, who after a divorce entered into a new non-sacramental relationship. The authors of the questionnaire are interested in the percentage of the faithful the problem concerns, identifying the way they cope with their problem and the evaluation to what degree they have been included in the appropriate pastoral care programs.In the Polish Church this problem undoubtedly grew stronger in last decades. The official statistics show big increase in the number of divorces and new marriages. Couples living together without a Church wedding take their difficult situation emotionally from being indifferent to it, feeling social discomfort, bearing a grudge for it, being embittered, feeling the rejection to sincere longing for the sacramental life or expressing a genuine grief because of evil that had happened in their lives. It should be stated that in spite of the presence of this question in the pastoral care programs and courageous activities of individual priests - the pastoral care of people in non- sacramental marriages in such a degree as it is carried out by Polish Church does not answer the problem.

The family’s tasks became the subject of the 1980 Synod and Familiaris consortio, the Apostolic Exhortation. It also was a leading theme in the synods relations with Pope Francis and the Exhortation Amoris laetitia.

    John Paul II in Familiaris consortio p. 17, when speaking about the tasks of the Christian family, indicates the need to reach out to „the beginning" of the creative act of God. Today it appears that what the family needs above all is re-evangelization. This is to be understood as rediscovering God's original plan for marriage and the family and returning „to the beginning" with faith as a way of life. It is about bringing humans to a personal relationship with God Personality. Today the family is affected by many illnesses. So what can be done to „heal" it? What is the cure? Programs alone are insufficient, similarly as mere pastoral and catechetical instruction, which become like building a house without foundations. Today we have the problem of people practicing religion, but in fact being unbelievers. In addition to the methods developed over the centuries, there is an urgent need for the ministry of exorcists, spiritual liberation from slavery, which affects more and more people, and spiritual discernment on a larger scale. Many of the problems are the causes of spiritual diseases. What is needed is information and formation of priests and lay people, raising awareness about current threats and ways of protecting oneself against them.

    Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie ujęć teologii małżeństwa w adhortacjach Familiaris consortio oraz Amoris laetitia z punktu widzenia duszpasterstwa. Podjęty problem rozwiązywany jest przede wszystkim za pomocą metody analizy porównawczej tekstów źródłowych. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono refleksję na temat kontynuacji oraz rozwoju nauczania w Kościele. Ciągłość tego rozwoju przypomina wzrost organizmu żywego, który poprzez różne etapy dochodzi do form coraz dojrzalszych. W podobny sposób adhortacja Amoris laetitia, wychodząc od nauczania zawartego w Familiaris consortio, rozwija je zgodnie ze specyficznym, nowym podejściem papieża Franciszka, przestawionym w adhortacji Evangelii Gaudium. Druga część artykułu pokazuje, że Amoris laetitia wpisuje się w tradycję nauczania Kościoła na temat małżeństwa i rodziny, współbrzmiąc z takimi dokumentami, jak: soborowa konstytucja Gaudium et spes, encyklika Humanae vitae Pawła VI, list do rodzin Gratissimam sane Jana Pawła II, a przede wszystkim adhortacja Familiaris consortio. Obydwa analizowane w artykule dokumenty postulują koncentrację na konkretnych życiowych realiach oraz przedstawiają wspólny ideał małżeństwa chrześcijańskiego, jego sakramentalności i otwartości na życie. Trzecia część artykułu, koncentrując się szczególnie na podejściu do tzw. sytuacji „nieregularnych”, pokazuje, w jaki sposób Amoris laetitia jest rozwinięciem nauczania Familiaris consortio. Rozwój doktryny przedstawiono w szerszym kontekście, prezentując nauczanie Franciszka jako kolejny etap na drodze zapoczątkowanej przez jego poprzedników, uwzględniającej „prawo stopniowości”, rozeznanie osobiste i duszpasterskie oraz integrację wiernych w sytuacjach niedoskonałych. Przeprowadzone analizy wykazały, że adhortacje Familiaris consortio oraz Amoris laetitia stanowią dwa istotne kroki na drodze Kościoła posoborowego, wyznaczonej przez konstytucję Gaudium et spes, oraz że pomiędzy dokumentami widać wyraźnie ciągłość oraz rozwój nauczania.
    The article addresses the problem of the relationship between the theology of marriage in the exhortations Familiaris Consortio and Amoris Laetitia from the pastoral point of view, using primarily the method of comparative analysis of source texts. The first part of the article presents a reflection on the continuity and development of teaching in the Church. The continuity of this development resembles the growth of a living organism, which through various stages reaches ever more mature forms. In a similar way, the exhortation Amoris Laetitia, starting from the teaching contained in the Familiaris Consortio, develops them in accordance with the specific new approach of Pope Francis presented in the exhortation Evangelii Gaudium. The second part of the article shows that Amoris laetitia is part of the tradition of the Church's teaching on marriage and the family, resonating with such documents as: the conciliar constitution Gaudium et Spes, the encyclical letter Humanae Vitae of Paul VI, a letter to the families Gratissimam Sane of John Paul II, and above all the exhortation Familiaris Consortio. Both documents analyzed postulate concentration on specific life realities, and also present the common ideal of Christian marriage, its sacramentality and openness to life. The third part of the article shows how Amoris Laetitia is a development of the teaching of Familiaris Consortio, focusing in particular on the approach to the so-called "irregular" situations. The doctrine’s development is presented in a broader context, showing the teaching of Francis as the subsequent stage on the path started by his predecessors, taking into account the “law of gradualness”, personal and pastoral discernment and the integration of the faithful in imperfect situations. The analysis shows that Familiaris Consortio and Amoris Laetitia are two important steps on the path of the post-conciliar Church set out by the constitution Gaudium et Spes, and continuity and development of teaching are clearly visible between the documents.
