Opis:: This article describes psychosocial situation of a family with genetically disabled child. Birth of a disabled child leads usually to fundamental changes in a family system. Each of family members is to learn new roles and to settle a new place in this system. Not only a place should be found for a new family member but a new lifestyle should be established as well. In the turbulences connected to diagnosis, rehabilitation and therapy one should still remember that family integration with a disabled child consists of two areas: emotional (love, attachment, acceptance) and task-oriented (participation in household members’ life).

Opis:: The main subject of this article are family mediations implemented into Code of Civil Procedures in December 2005, it gives possibility of conducting mediation with divorcing parents. The main goal of family mediation is to establish a common parents agreement in the field of being parents for their children after divorce. There is a description of family mediation rules and procedures and its suppor- ting role for parents in such difficult period of their life as divorce and building new type of parenting relation after divorce. There is description of main roles of family in the society. There is analysis of questionnaire of parental agreement indicating elements which let parents to fulfil main family role also after divorce. And also the role of building cooperation after divorce. There is indicated that pa- rental agreement is the tool which makes parents easier to go through divorce period, and also being in law frames.

Opis:: Contemporary woman fulfils herself not only as a mother, but also as a professional worker. This causes a double burden on women and affects the perceived a life satisfaction. There are crucial interdependencies between family and work which awareness is important for creating optimal support instruments. The aim of an article is to present these bilateral relations, which are a point of departure for a discussion on the expectations of mothers (parents) for the actions of employers as one of the main actors support. This article also elaborates on family policy instruments introduced in Poland in the context of the idea of work-life balance. Achieving harmonious combining work and family responsibilities is possible thanks to the new legal rules on a parental leave, the development of childcare services, flexible forms of employment and working time as well as individualized actions employers. It is necessary to curry out more instruments to support parents-employees then a balance between those spheres will be possible to achieve.
Współczesna kobieta realizuje się nie tylko w roli matki, ale również w roli pracownika. Skutkuje to zjawiskiem podwójnego obciążenia kobiet i rzutuje na odczuwaną satysfakcję życiową. Między rodziną a pracą istnieją istotne współzależności, których świadomość jest ważna dla tworzenia optymalnych instrumentów wsparcia. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie owych obustronnych relacji, które stanowią punkt wyjścia dla omówienia oczekiwań matek (rodziców) odnośnie działań pracodawców jako jednego z głównych podmiotów wsparcia. Omówiono ponadto instrumenty polityki rodzinnej wprowadzone w Polsce w kontekście idei work-life balance. Harmonijnemu łączeniu obowiązków zawodowych z rodzinnymi sprzyjają nowe uregulowania prawne dotyczące urlopów rodzicielskich i możliwości rozwoju usług opiekuńczych, elastyczne formy zatrudnienia i czasu pracy oraz zindywidualizowane działania pracodawców. Konieczne jest wprowadzanie kolejnych instrumentów wsparcia rodziców-pracowników, aby równowaga między obiema sferami była możliwa do osiągnięcia.

Opis:: The role of parents-in-law according to Erik Erikson’s theory, has been analyzed in this paper.Erikson claims that a man develops throughout his whole life, solving subsequently appearing crises. The proper solution of these crises enables the achievement of integration. The results of research, carried out by Menelaos Apostolou, regarding the influence of parents on the choice of a son or daughter-in-law have been presented in this paper. These results show that the marital choices of offspring most often lack their parents’ approval, and they often also lead parents to use manipulation techniques. Such regularity is often the basis of difficult spouse-parent-in-law relationships.The role of parents-in-law takes place in the period of middle adulthood in which an individual faces the productivity-stagnation process. It has been assumed that the role of parents-in-law is embedded in this crisis. According to Erikson, the crisis in the period of middle adulthood, as well as in any other period, is the friction of two opposing pursuits: progression and regression, where in case of middle adulthood, the progression stage is called productivity and regression – stagnation. Moreover, social and individual factors (including biological and psychological levels) activating regressive and progressive states in parents-in-law have been submitted for analysis.It is stressed, in this paper, that the parents’ virtue, which is care, is not limited only and exclusively to their own biological offspring – the process of upbringing should also include a broad understanding of the notion of providing welfare to future generations.

Opis:: Chociaż migracje Polek cieszyły się dużym zainteresowaniem naukowym, szczyt rozwoju badań genderowych dotyczących wyjazdów zagranicznych objął przede wszystkim doświadczenia kobiet migrujących w latach 80. i 90. XX w., aż do pierwszego pięciolecia poakcesyjnego (2004–2009). Soczewka pokoleniowa oznacza, że badanymi były przede wszystkim migrujące Polki z pokoleń baby-boomers i X. Dekadę później migracje kształtują biografie Milenialsek, jednak wyróżniające je doświadczenia mobilności nie są szczegółowo eksplorowane poza kontekstem rynku pracy. Opierając się na materiale empirycznym z projektu „Paczki przyjaciół i migracje” (2016–2020), w artykule analizujemy wzory migracyjne wykształconych Polek z pokolenia Y. Pokazujemy decyzje mobilnościowe Milenialsek oraz śledzimy relacje między płcią a rolami społecznymi w życiu osobistym i rodzinnym młodych kobiet. Wskazujemy na nowe wzory migracji „mobilnego pokolenia wyboru”, a także stwierdzamy, że o ile pewne relacje i role rodzinne Milenialsek uległy transformacji, o tyle sprzężenie mobilności z macierzyństwem zdaje się mniej podatne na międzypokoleniową zmianę.
While many studies have focused on the international migration of Polish women, the main wave of gendered research has covered the experiences of women who went abroad during the 1980s and 1990s, up until about five years after EU accession (2009). As such, from a generational stance, existing studies have investigated the mobility paths of Baby-Boomers and Generation X. Today migration shapes the biographies of Polish women from Generation Y (i.e. Millennials) who have traits that potentially differentiate them from mobile women in the past and in areas beyond the labor market. Drawing on empirical material from “Peer-groups and Migration” study (2016–2020), we analyze international mobility pathways and migratory decision-making processes of educated women from Gen Y and investigate how mobility intersects with gender and social roles in family/ personal life for Millennials. We argue that the „mobile generation of choice” engages in new forms of migration. Although certain family roles have changed among migrant-Millennials, the motherhood/mobility junction remains less prone to generational shifts.

Opis:: W artykule dokonano uzasadnienia roli kobiety w rodzinie w perspektywie jej biologicznych funkcji. Przedstawiono podłoże i przejawy konfliktu społecznych ról kobiet w powiązaniu z konfliktem płci. Zaprezentowano przyczyny i zadania ruchów feministycznych w ujęciu historycznym. Zwrócono uwagę na uwarunkowania sytuacji mężczyzn w procesie podziału pracy. Ukazano także możliwości łagodzenia konfliktu ról kobiet i konfliktu płci w literaturze socjologicznej.
The article justifies the role of the woman in the family in the relation to her biological functions. It has been presented the base and trappings of the conflict and social roles of women in conjunction with gender conflict. The article presents the causes and the tasks of the feminist movements in historical perspective. Attention has been paid to the conditions of men’s situation in the division of labor. It has also been shown the options to mitigate the conflicts of roles of women and gender conflict in sociological literature.

Opis:: Artykuł stanowi próbę określenia ról społecznych kobiet prezentowanych na łamach „Vivy!” w latach 1997–2001. Otwarcie magazynu „Viva!” w 1997 r. dało początek polskiemu segmentowi prasy typu people, która stanowi formę pośrednią dla prasy rozrywkowo-plotkarskiej oraz prasy serca. Prezentując wiadomości o osobach rozpoznawalnych za pomocą sylwetek prasowych i wywiadów, „Viva!” łączy aspekty życia publicznego i prywatnego bohaterów. Ma to odzwierciedlenie w przedstawianych przez magazyn rolach społecznych. Analizie ilościowej, poprzedzonej rozważaniami teoretycznymi, poddano 763 sylwetki kobiet na płaszczyźnie pasywnej (bohaterek przekazów). Analiza zawartości pozwoliła zidentyfikować role społeczne bohaterek przekazów. Badanie ujawniło, że kobiety prezentowane na łamach czasopisma „Viva!” aktywnie uczestniczą w przestrzeni publicznej i prywatnej, pełniąc rozmaite role, w tym zarówno klasycznie utożsamiane z obiema sferami: zawodową i rodzinną, jak i niestandardowe, powiązane ze specyfiką magazynu – role krewnych i powinowatek osób sławnych.
The article is an attempt to define the social roles of women presented in Viva! in the years 1997‒2001. The opening of the magazine Viva! in 1997 initiated the Polish people-type press segment, which is an intermediate form between the entertainment and gossip press and true story magazines. By presenting news about people recognizable through press profiles and interviews, Viva! combines aspects of public and private lives of woman characters. This is reflected in the social roles presented by the magazine. The quantitative analysis, preceded by theoretical considerations, was performed on 763 profiles of women on the passive plane (the characters of media coverages). The content analysis allowed the author to identify the social roles of women of the media coverage. The study revealed that women featured in the magazine Viva! actively participate in public and private spaces, playing a variety of roles, including those that are classically identified with both spheres: professional and family, as well as those non-standard, related to the specificity of the magazine – the roles of relatives and affinities of famous people.

Opis:: Autorzy na podstawie analizy pamiętników osób bezrobotnych oraz studiów przypadku analizują relacje między doświadczeniem bezrobocia a relacjami rodzinnymi kobiet i mężczyzn. Wskazują, że płeć różnicuje zarówno przyczyny, jak i konsekwencje bezrobocia. W tekście wskazano problem opuszczania przez kobiety rynku pracy ze względu na macierzyństwo, sprawowanie opieki nad dzieckiem z uwzględnieniem presji do przedłużania opieki i deprecjonowania obowiązków domowych, przypisania do płci praktyk opiekuńczych na rzecz osób zależnych czy nierównego dostępu do zasobów ekonomicznych. Autorzy wyróżnili cztery typy bezrobotnych kobiet: (1) wspierane kohabitantki w poczekalni, (2) deprecjonowane housewives bez etatu, (3) samotne siłaczki z dziećmi oraz (4) bezdzietne opoki rodziny. W odniesieniu do mężczyzn wskazano, że bezrobocie jest szczególnie trudnym doświadczeniem ze względu na utratę statusu żywiciela rodziny i uprzywilejowanej pozycji. Na podstawie doświadczeń badanych mężczyzn scharakteryzowano trzy podstawowe typy bezrobotnych mężczyzn – (1) kury domowe w spodniach, (2) upadłych ojców oraz (3) synów marnotrawnych.
Based on the analysis of the diaries written by the unemployed, the article investigates the relationship between the experience of unemployment and family relations of women and men. The authors argue that gender differentiates both the causes and consequences of unemployment. In the case of women, the following problems are indicated: the exit from the labor market due to child birth or child care, concomitant with the pressure for the care period prolongation, depreciation of housework, gendered ascription of the responsibility of care for the dependent, and the unequal economic resources. Four types of unemployed women are identified in the article: (1) the supported cohabitants in the waiting room, (2) undervalued housewives without a full-time job, (3) lonely super-women with children, and (4) childless family rocks. For men, the unemployment turns out to be a particularly difficult experience due to the loss of a breadwinner status and a privileged position. Three basic types of unemployed men can be distinguished on the basis of the analysed material: (1) housewives in trousers, (2) fallen fathers, and (3) prodigal sons.

The paper considers in a historical perspective the consequences of the social time constructing for work of an organization and for individuals. It shows how this social process of time constructing is related to shaping modern society and to the changes described as post-modernity. In the context of the organization, the impact of the temporal dynamics of managers and employees on the change in the organization and in their personal life is considered. We describe the consequences of different perceptions of time for attitudes, behaviors and aspirations of contemporary employees are discussed in the context of reconciling professional and family roles.

Opis:: The aim of this introduction is to outline the contexts in which the analysed phenomena occur. All texts published here, in one way or another, refer to the problem of changing obligations resulting from family ties. Among the phenomena that affect the family structure and the family commitments the most important are, in my opinion, two processes – individualization and an aging population. Therefore, in the further part of this text, there is a short overview of (1) the individualisation of family structures on the example of cohabitation, (2) emerging discrepancies between the sociallydefined obligations and the possibilities of fulfilling them by family members in the aging society.
