Political extremism (and particularly right wing political extremism) remains relatively insufficiently explored due to the fact that the phenomenon is controversial and hard to define. Its ambiguity and variability depending on time and spatial point of view further complicates its definition. Its structure is amorphous and eclectic as it often includes elements from different ideologies and connects incompatible ideas. A multidimensional conceptualization and an interdisciplinary approach - sociological, social, psychological and historical, are the Author’s tools in explaining the phenomenon of political extremism in Serbia, hopefully contributing to its clarification and laying a foundation for its further explanatory theoretical studies.

The fact that about 4000 immigrants are placed in Cottbus, situated 192 km from Poznań and 83 km from Zielona Góra, makes us feel it is necessary to analyze modus operandi of the entities legitimizing or delegitimizing the Open Door policy of the Chancellor Angela Merkel. To explain their position, political actors refer to the diverse narratives that Rolf Peter Sieferle classified as: the refugee narrative; a narrative recalling the demographic problem; a narrative referring to problems in the labor market and a lack of qualified employees; a narrative referring to the essence of multiculturalism. Difficulties in absorbing immigrants caused a discussion about fatigue both in political parties and in the media, but they showed the potential of social initiatives and movements, for example the organization “Future of the Fatherland”, led by Hans-Christoph Berndt. His views combined with the statements of Dietmar Woidke, the Prime Minister of Brandenburg, or Jörg Steinbach, the President of the Brandenburg University of Technology, reflect the diversity of the assessment of migration policy in a micro-scale.

The article discusses the phenomenon of radicalization, which becomes a source of danger for the individual and the security of the state. At the beginning the article discusses the essence and causes of the phenomenon, and then refers to the Polish and German strategies in the field of security. The documents identify radicalization and extremism as a contemporary threat to national security, which is confirmed by numerous attacks in Europe. Examples of attacks involving radicalized individuals are discussed in this paper in the article. The discussion ends with conclusions emphasizing that in the process of radicalization the information provided to individuals and communication between government institutions and society are extremely important.

Political radicalism as a threat to the reborn Republic of Poland. The interwar period in Poland was characterised by the occurrence of real threats to the internal security of the state, the source of which was radicalism and political extremism. It was both left-wing and right-wing radicalism. We should mention here communism supported by Bolshevik Russia, Ukrainian nationalism supported by unfavourable countries such as Germany or Czechoslovakia, and Polish right-wing radicals who sought to change the political system of the country but not to annihilate it. All these political trends may have contributed to the destabilization of the Second Republic, but reborn Poland managed to create an appropriate internal security system, which included the Political Police, and on the other hand, the Polish society, as the history of the Second Republic shows, was not seduced by the political extremes.

The article presents the possibilities provided by applying media studies (media monitoring) in political studies. The author showcases theoretical connections between the impact of mass media and the phenomenon of political extremism. It also presents a case study – a research project carried out in Liechtenstein regarding the monitoring of political extremism. The article contains recommendations for the possible implementa-tion of the project in other countries. The research methods appliedwere limited to the analysis of literature in the field of political extremism and the methods of media studies. The desk research method was also used for the case study.

The Department of Political Science of the Alexander Dubček University in Trenčin during 2018 - 2020 aims to solve the project of the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic (known as KEGA project). The KEGA Project The Innovation of Methodical Sheets for Teachers of Civics from the need of Prevention of Extremism and Education for Democratic Citizenship is focused on the analysis of the phenomenon of extremism and the other forms of intolerance towards other members of society in terms of several social sciences (political science, international relations, history, sociology, massmedia studies) with the intention to innovate methodical sheets for civics education teachers. In the final phase of project a synthesis of these views will take place to make curriculums easier to use for teachers within civic education courses and at the same time, to strengthen the acute need to prevent angry demonstrations. This synthesis should create more effective upbringing and education towards democratic citizenship. The aim of the project is to analyze selected aspects related to issues of extremism in theory, the synthesis of which contributes to problem solving, resulting in new methodical sheets in an online available format. The acquired knowledge will be available to the professional public, especially to primary and secondary school teachers in the Slovak Republic, in the framework of workshops, thematic lectures and summer schools.

The description undertaken attempts to investigate the threat of Islamic terrorism in Europe. This problem is still real, because the countries of the Old Continent participating in the so-called the war against global terrorism already experienced terrorist attacks on their territories. The main objective of this work is to determine the capabilities of the terrorist threat by examining the essence of the phenomenon of modern Islamic terrorism in the European area and the assessment of the threat. During the development of this description the author used different research methods, and the main criterion for their selection was a rationalization of the course and the possibility of obtaining objective results. Method of analysis and detailed examination of documents has been used as a gateway and adapted in the optimal way to achieve the desired result in the form of leaked conclusions. The leading element to the entire research process was a critical analysis of the literature on the subject of research. Literature and the sources from which were used in the study can be divided into several thematic segments: the history of Islam and the sources of Islamic fundamentalism, history and theory of terrorism, the sources of law in the context of counter-terrorism and policies in the field of counter-terrorism and the fight against this phenomenon. Literature research in the field of scientific studies in the context of the presented thematic sections, characterized by diverse accessibility, which consists of a number of items related to the Muslim religion and Islamic fundamentalism, terrorism and the disciplines of law, as well as occurring much less frequently highly specialized positions describing the security system of anti-terrorist.

The terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 realized to the international community that there are new challenges and threats, which in a completely different light presented the phenomenon of terrorism. They are characterized by an extremely significant result of social, psychological and media. The international situation has undergone dynamic changes. Conditions of international security has changed. The duty of the EU countries is to fight against this kind of threats. Ensuring the safety of citizens within the EU is the responsibility of each state element thereof. Multiculturalism and the new multi religious social realities are becoming dominant dimensions of today’s world. The huge changes in the social tissue of those societies, which up to now had an established dominant culture and religious affiliation, made them now face more than the effects of migrant flows, which inevitably causes confrontations of cultures and believes. The clash of civilizations, which have been so accurately predicted, took different forms of confrontation by giving floor to extremism into its organized form: an explosion of terrorism. By considering the strong connections between poverty and lack of education as an extremism cradle, many researchers consider the inclusion of the subjects related to the history and culture of religions as a strategy to reduce cultural and religious conflict as well as extremist behavior and the bases of terrorism, by increasing information and knowledge about religion starting from early teen years. Albania, a country known for its religious tolerance, is one of those countries which’ decision makers in education actually share this point of view and is going to start a project by including a module of limited hours of teaching in medium and high school students. The paper makes an analysis of the potential effects this might have considering its application related to the initial purposes of the project, by introducing the case of Italy and its strategy of religious education over the years as a comparative tool in order to analyze and predict the potential outcomes of this intent, by considering the national background of Albania and some specific learning traits and outcomes on such topics related to age and cultural set up.

The author analyzes the correlation between ideology of the contemporary right-wing extremism and the European migration crisis. Basic hypothesis states that contemporary mass migrations from the Middle Eastern region greatly affect the expansion of right-wing extremism in Europe. Even though the extreme right-wing in Europe is of a diversified character, it manifests a sequence of mutual characteristics which are best seen in its ideology: Islamophobia, xenophobia, racism, fascism, violence, discrimination, etc. The purpose of this paper is to show how the extreme right-wing ideology can generate political violence and a vast security problem for Europe and the entire world.
Autor analizuje korelację pomiędzy ideologią współczesnego prawicowego ekstremizmu i europejskiego kryzysu migracyjnego. Podstawowa hipoteza brzmi: współczesne migracje z regionu Bliskiego Wschodu znacząco wpływają na ekspansję prawicowego ekstremizmu w Europie. Chociaż ekstremizm prawicowy w Europie ma zróżnicowany charakter, to posiada wspólne cechy, które są najlepiej widoczne w jego ideologii: Islamofobia, ksenofobia, rasizm, faszyzm, przemoc, dyskryminacja, itd. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, jak ekstremistyczna prawicowa ideologia przedstawia program generujący polityczną przemoc i stanowi ogromny problem dla bezpieczeństwa Europy i całego świata.
