Adhortacja apostolska Evangelii gaudium, nazywana często programowym dokumentem pontyfikatu papieża Franciszka, omawia bardzo szeroki zakres tematów. Jednym z tematów dominujących jest kaznodziejskie przepowiadanie słowa Bożego. Wprawdzie papież Franciszek w tym „wykładzie homiletycznym” omawia zagadnienia dość powszechnie znane, to jednak przypomnienie ich stanowi wartość samą w sobie. Spośród 25 punktów adhortacji poświęconych homilii (EG 135-159), dwa (EG 137 i EG 138) odnoszą się do jej kontekstu liturgicznego. Omówienie tych dwóch punktów adhortacji Evangelii gaudium oraz wydobycie z nich najważniejszego przesłania jest celem niniejszego opracowania. W opracowaniu omówione zostały zagadnienia: żywa obecność Boga w homilii, mistagogiczna funkcja homilii, homilia jako element integrujący celebrację liturgiczną oraz homilia jako część ofiary przekazywanej Ojcu i pośrednictwo łaski.
Apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, often called a programme document of the pontificate of pope Francis, touches upon many subjects. One of the dominant topics of this document is preaching the Word of God. Although in this “homiletic lecture” pope Francis analyses fairly known matters, the very drawing one’s attention to them is a value in itself. Among 25 points of the exhortation devoted to a homily (EG 135–159) two of them (EG 137 and EG 138) are related to its liturgical context. Analysis of these two points of Evangelii Gaudium and emphasizing their most important message is the aim of this paper. The paper analyses the following issues: the living presence of God in a homily, mystagogic function of a homily, a homily as an element that integrates a liturgical celebration and a homily as a part of a sacrifice offered to the Father and a mediation of grace.

As can be easily noticed, Pope Francis’s documents provide no systematic ecclesiological discourse, yet undoubtedly, his entire teaching is founded on a very deep understanding of the Church. Thus, the aim of this article is to present its basic theological presumptions. In other words, it seeks to find a hermeneutic key – or keys – which will allow us to better understand the ecclesiological presumptions of the message directed to the Church by Pope Francis.
Jak można łatwo zauważyć, dokumenty papieża Franciszka nie dostarczają żadnej systematycznej myśli eklezjologicznej, niewątpliwie jednak jego całe nauczanie jest ufundowane na bardzo głębokiej refleksji dotyczącej Kościoła. Celem niniejszego artykułujest przedstawienie jej podstawowych założeń teologicznych. Inaczej mówiąc, chodzi w nim o znalezienie klucza lub kluczy hermeneutycznych, które pozwolą lepiej rozumieć eklezjologiczne założenia przesłania, jakie Franciszek kieruje do Kościoła w swoich dokumentach.

Artykuł dotyczy języka przekazu Ewangelii. Zostały w nim omówione najpierw źródła, z których teologia homiletyczna – jako dziedzina teologii praktycznej zajmująca się językiem przepowiadania – czerpie wskazania. Są nimi: Objawienie Boże przekazywane w Piśmie Świętym i Tradycji Kościoła, wciąż aktualizowane wskazania Stolicy Apostolskiej, liturgia, a także świeckie dyscypliny zajmujące się poprawnością i sztuką przemawiania – retoryka i gramatyka. Wypracowane przez lata wskazania homiletów dotyczące języka przekazu Ewangelii zostały w ostatnim czasie wzbogacone licznymi sugestiami papieża Franciszka, które zostały przeanalizowane i przedstawione w niniejszym opracowaniu. Spośród licznych wskazań papieża z Argentyny omówione zostały: prostota języka i dostosowaniu go do pojętności słuchaczy przy zachowaniu wierności wobec istoty nauczania Pana Jezusa, następnie zaś jasność, serdeczność i familijność, obrazowość i piękno, kreatywność i lapidarność, a także pozytywne brzmienie. Nie można przy tym zapominać, że język zawsze wyraża człowieka. Stąd też troska o język przekazu Ewangelii jest ostatecznie troską o pogłębioną ludzką, intelektualną, duchową i duszpasterskiej formację głosicieli słowa.
This article deals with the language of communication of the Gospel. At the first place the reader finds the explanations about the sources from which homiletics—as a part of practical theology as well as a discipline dealing with the language of preaching—takes guidance. They are: God’s revelation transmitted in the Scriptures and in the Tradition of the Church, the indications of the Holy See, the liturgy, and secular disciplines dealing with correctness and the art of speaking such as rhetoric and grammar. Over the centuries homiletics managed to developed the indications concerning the language of communication of the Gospel. They have been enriched recently by numerous suggestions of the Pope Francis. Some of them are analyzed and presented in this paper. Among them: the simplicity of the language and its adaptation to the intelligence and perception of the listeners, the brightness, the warmth and familiarity, imagery and beauty, creativity and conciseness, and—a positive tone. One can not forget that the language expresses the person. The care for the language means in consequence the care for the deep human, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral formation of the preachers.

Nowa ewangelizacja dotyczy całego Kościoła. Urzeczywistnia się ona zasadniczo w trzech obszarach. Pierwszym jest obszar duszpasterstwa zwyczajnego. Do niego należą wier-ni, którzy zachowują żywą i szczerą wiarę katolicką, dając jej wyraz na różny sposób, chociaż brak jest im systematyczności w uczestnictwie w celebracjach liturgicznych. Duszpasterstwo ma na celu pobudzenie tych wierzących do duchowego rozwoju w oparciu o słowo Boże i życie sakramentalne. Drugi obszar obejmuje osoby ochrzczone, które jednakże nie żyją zgodnie z wymo-gami chrztu św., nie przynależą całym sercem do Kościoła, nie doświadczają już pociechy płynącej z wiary. Trzeci obszar to ewangelizacja związana z głoszeniem orędzia zbawienia tym, którzy nie znają Jezusa Chrystusa lub dotychczas Go odrzucali. Wielu z nich, ogarnię-tych tęsknotą za obliczem Boga, szuka Go w skrytości, również w krajach o starej tradycji chrześcijańskiej. We wszystkich tych obszarach ważne miejsce stanowi liturgia. Ewangeliza-cja w Kościele potrzebuje liturgii, która jest sposobem i miejscem doświadczenia w wierze zbawczej obecności Chrystusa.
New evangelization concerns the whole life of the Church. It is carried out in three principal areas. The first of them is the area of ordinary pastoral ministry. It involves the faithful who preserve a deep and sincere faith, expressing it in different ways, but seldom taking part in worship. The main objective of this kind of pastoral ministry is the spiritual growth of the believers, which enables them to increasingly better respond to God’s love with their whole lives. The second area includes people who have been baptized but nevertheless do not live in accordance with the requirements of baptism, are not whole-hearted members of the Church, and no longer experience the consolation offered by faith. The third area revolves around the evangelization of these who do not know Jesus Christ or have always rejected him. Many of such people, yearning to see God’s face, secretly seek Him, even in countries with ancient Christian traditions. In all of the abovementioned areas liturgy is of significant importance. Evangelization in the Church needs liturgy, which is not only a human activity, but also a meeting with God leading to contemplation and deepening of our friendship with Him. Without liturgy, the profession of faith would be ineffective.

The new evangelization is the most important task of today’s Catholic Church. Preaching the Gospel occurs via human communication. The research conducted by the scientists of the humanities points to the importance of body language in interpersonal communication. Likewise, the Magisterium sees its elements in the process of evangelization. This mission is also connected with theological and moral aspects. The aim of this article is to define the moral implications associated with nonverbal communication in the work of the new evangelization. In this context, one can talk about an obligation to preach the Gospel effectively, i.e. taking into account the fact that such effectiveness is influenced by the awareness of one’s own nonverbal messages and of the foundations of communication theory. An act of communication may involve the sins of neglect, isolation and aggression.

The public debate increasingly talks about the crisis of the Church, which is manifested by a decline in the most important statistical indicators of faith. However, if we look at the development of Christianity, we will easily see that in its history it has very often experienced problems with the hallmarks of a crisis. Perhaps the basis for perceiving the current situation as a crisis is a distorted image of God and the expectation that Catholicism would dominate in quantitative terms over other worldview proposals that can be found today. This text reflects on the phenomenon of the crisis of the Catholic Church in Poland and discusses whether the observable changes in the Church concern faith itself, or rather religion, which is a broader concept. Finally, based on Francis’ exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, the article shows inspiration for awakening hope and pastoral activity, which are a guarantee of saving the faith of those seeking God and being close to Him.

Autor artykułu podkreśla najpierw, w świetle homiletyki, wielkie znaczenie bliższego przygotowania do głoszenia słowa Bożego, co szczególnie odnosi się do homilii jako priorytetowej formy kaznodziejstwa. Budzi więc radość fakt, że papież Franciszek w adhortacji apostolskiej Evangelii gaudium (EG) dużo miejsca poświęcił homilii i starannemu przygotowaniu do jej wy-głoszenia. U podstaw tej pracy twórczej głosiciela homilii leży „kult prawdy” (EG 146), który prowadzi do rzetelnego poznania i uwydatniania kerygmatu biblijnego. W tym celu kaznodzieja powinien najpierw sam być słuchaczem słowa Bożego, posłusznie poddać się mu i uczynić je swoim, co papież określa mianem „personalizacji Słowa” (EG 149). Temu procesowi interioryzacji służy Lectio divina (EG 152), czyli modlitewne, duchowe czytanie Pisma Świętego. Rozpoznając słowo Boże i wsłuchując się w nie, głosiciel homilii powinien również „słuchać ludu” (EG 154), aby mógł trafnie odpowiedzieć na problemy swoich słuchaczy. Wtedy jego homilia stanie się słowem dojrzałym i aktualnym dla człowieka znajdującego się w konkretnej sytuacji egzystencjalnej. Dlatego istotne jest wymaganie, aby kaznodzieja ciągle doskonalił swoje umiejętności fachowe i dążył do duchowej dojrzałości, a dzięki temu będzie głosił homilię jako autentyczny świadek Chrystusa i wierny zwiastun Jego Ewangelii.
The author of the article first of all stresses in the light of homiletics an important meaning of proper preparation to God’s word proclaiming—which especially concerns homily as a significant form of preaching. So it is worthy to say with joy that pope Francis in his exhortation Evangelii Gaudium (EG) has dedicated a lot of attention to homily and to all careful preparations that allow to preach it. The most important element of creative work of homily preacher is the “cult of truth” (EG 146) which leads to reliable knowledge and exposes the biblical kerygma. To pursue a defined goal the preacher should first of all be himself the listener of God’s word, he must unreservedly be devoted to it, hiding it in the bottom of his heart—which pope de-fines as “Word’s interiorisation” (EG 149). The process of interiorisation may be obtained by Lectio divina (EG 152)—the prayerful, spiritual Bible reading. Recognizing God’s word and listening to it the homily preacher should also “listen to people” (EG 154) to solve properly problems of his listeners. Then his homily will be the mature and actual word for the people being in a concrete existential situation. That is why it is necessary for the preacher to perfect all his skills—to reach the spiritual maturity allowing him to preach the homily as an authentic witness of Jesus and faithful herald of his Gospel.

Ethical leadership towards an open future is based both on trust and on methods. In this regard Pope Francis uses his own method which he describes explicitly in Evangelii gaudium. In this contribution Erny Gillen shows how Pope Francis brings leadership and ethics together. His method is systematically at work in the papal documents Laudato si’ and Amoris laetitia and their respective contexts. It mobilises people with their moral convictions to act accordingly. Thus the Pope Francis Method lays out a smart path from moral belief to moral action.

Adhortacja apostolska papieża Franciszka Evangelii gaudium na nowo ukazuje zadanie misyjne – nie tyle jako obowiązek, wynikający zresztą z samej natury Kościoła, ale jako radosne doświadczenie wiary. Przekaz wiary już jest jej pogłębieniem u samego ewangelizatora, a następnie u tych, do których jest posłany. Jest to zadanie zwłaszcza dla Kościoła partykularnego zaangażowanego w ewangelizację świata. Na nowo odkrywana jest radość głoszenia. Panuje tu atmosfera radości, jaka towarzyszyła misjonarzom od czasów apostolskich. W świetle nauczania papieża Franciszka misjologia znajduje nowe, ciekawe inspiracje. Chodzi nie tylko o nowe tematy i przedstawienie zagadnień już funkcjonujących. Ważny dla papieża jest duch misyjny, który ożywia cały Kościół. Jest tu wyraźny znak teologii latynoamerykańskiej, w tym i teologii wyzwolenia.
The apostolic exhortation of Pope Francis Evangelii Gaudium presents afresh the missionary task – not so much as an obligation, resulting from the very nature of the Church anyway, but as a joyful experience of faith. The message of faith is already deepened within the evangelizer himself, and then within those to whom he is sent. This is especially a task for the particular Church involved in the evangelization of the world. The joy of proclamation is especially rediscovered. We find here an atmosphere of joy that accompanies missionaries since apostolic times. In the light of the teaching of Pope Francis, missiology finds new, interesting inspirations. It’s not just about new topics and presenting issues that already exist. Important for the Pope is the missionary spirit that animates the whole Church. This is a clear sign of Latin American theology, including the theology of liberation.

Adhortacja Evangelii gaudium jest owocem odbytego w Rzymie od 7 do 28 października 2012 roku XIII Zwyczajnego Zgromadzenia Ogólnego Synodu Biskupów na temat: Nowa ewangelizacja dla przekazu wiary chrześcijańskiej. Adhortacja zawiera m.in. podstawowe wskazania pokazujące, w jaki sposób działania nazywane przez nas duszpasterstwem zwyczajnym powinny uzyskać ducha misyjnego. Franciszek wymienia kilka instytucji kościelnych, które odgrywają ważną rolę w działalności duszpasterskiej: parafia (EG 28), diecezja (EG 30) oraz papiestwo (EG 32). Papież najpierw analizuje duszpasterstwo misyjne na polu parafii, później diecezji, a na końcu podejmuje temat papiestwa. Misja Kościoła wychodzi nie z centrum, ale z peryferii. Pojawia się także wezwanie o przełamanie pewnego schematu myślowego, ponieważ „duszpasterstwo w kluczu misyjnym wymaga rezygnacji z wygodnego kryterium pasterskiego, że «zawsze się tak robiło»” (EG 33).
The Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel), is the fruit of the work of the XIII Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, held in the Vatican, from 7 to 28 October 2012, on the theme “The New Evangelisation for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”. In it, pope Francis encourages pastoral ministers to inject more missionary spirituality to what is known as their ordinary pastoral ministry. He mentions several important church institutions which aid pastoral ministry: parish (EG 28), diocese (EG 30), and papacy (EG 32), and analyses each of them in the context of missionary pastoral ministry. Church’s mission originates in the peripheries, not in the centre. The pope urges pastoral ministers to disaffiliate themselves from thought patterns, because “(...) a missionary key seeks to abandon the complacent attitude that says: We have always done it this way” (EG 33).

Zasada pondus et ordo, porządkująca treści wiary według ich „związku z podstawą bądź rdzeniem wiary chrześcijańskiej”, jak stwierdza Dekret o ekumenizmie Unitatis redintegratio w numerze 11, ma duże znaczenie dla kaznodziejstwa. Zasada ta domaga się, by prawdy wiary i moralności przekazywać nie tylko w sposób wierny Ewangelii, ale także tak, by prawdy pierwszorzędne były głoszone i przeżywane w pobożności pierwszorzędnie, a drugorzędne drugorzędnie. Zasada ta spotkała się z dużym uznaniem papieża Franciszka w adhortacji Evangelii gaudium. Artykuł analizuje wypowiedzi poświęcone temu problemowi zawarte w tym dokumencie.
According to the Decree on Ecumenism Unitatis Redintegratio in no.11 the pondus et ordo which arranges the contents of faith according to their “relation with the base or root of Christian faith” is of great importance for preaching. The principle requires the truths of faith and morality are not only communicated truly according to the Gospel, but also in the way that the primary (central) truths are preached and experienced in devotion primarily and the secondary (minor) secondarily. The principle has been very much appreciated by the Pope Francis in the Apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium. The article analyses statements concerning the problem, included in the document.

The article discusses the missionary option as indicated by Pope Francis in his first apostolic exhortation. This challenging option can be lived fully only through a total commitment of all church structures. That is why it is interesting to reflect how one of the parish structures, namely the pastoral council, can contribute – according to its competences – to put into practice what has been enunciated in Evangelii gaudium.A particular contribution of the parish pastoral council consists primarily in the development of an adequate parish pastoral plan, which would have as its main goal to educate the parish as a missionary community, responsible for the transmission of the Christian faith in today’s world. The article also features some directions from the Papal document which must be taken into account and some practical suggestions which aid in reaching the delineated goals. A commitment of the parish pastoral council to fulfil this missionary choice enables this structure to see its role as oriented “to promote conformity of the life and actions of the People of God with the Gospel”.

Apostolic exortation of Holy Father Pope Francis „Evangelii gaudium” was published in 2013 after the Synod of bishops which was dedicated to THE NEW EVANGELIZATION FOR THE TRANSMISSION OF THE CHRISTIAN faith but we can also treat it as a major document of pope’s Fran-cis pontificate. Article presents vision of the pope’s Francis church which is concentrated more on the existential than essential dimensions. The analysis of pope’s Francis teaching was done in three dimensions: 1) the joyful proclama-tion of the Gospel through the new evangelization 2) pastoral conversion and missionary task of the Church 3) poor Church for the poor. Exhortation is an invitation to explore inside the Gospel an authentic joy and power which is able to change the modern world. Exhortation is an invitation to announce the Gos-pel to the modern world and impulse to manage urgent tasks of New Evangelization.
