Opis:
The article discusses the changes which are taking place in the Election Law of Ukraine. Their consequence is the transformation of the state from the parliamentary-presidential into the presidentially-parliamentary republic and the loss by the Supreme Council of Ukraine of a considerable part of its authority in favour of the president of Ukraine. As based on the conducted analysis, the conclusion has been done that the Ukrainian Election Law requires further changes which shall allow its ordinary development, stimulate real rivalry in the process of elections and lead to forming of the proper level of political culture in the society. The success of the introduced changes depends on whether the Election Law will be practically followed or will be left as juridical declaration, whether the destiny of Ukraine will be connected with Europe or with authoritarianism.

For the first time will Parliamentarians have its European family, the structures of the Polish accession to the European Communities, so that we share responsibility for the further development and future of our Europe. The elections were conducted under the Act of 23 January 2004 – Elections to the European Parliament. Existing data do not cover the whole subject, as appeared before the majority of the Ordinance implementing acts. The subject of this paper is nationalism as a direction of political thinking, where the idea of the nation is the dominant principle. The main Polish nationalist political parties of the recent 25 years include: National Revival of Poland, Polish National Community and National Party „Szczerbiec”. The main German nationalist political parties include: National Democratic Party of Germany, The Republicans, The Right, Pro NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia). Far-right parties in Poland and in Germany are against the European Union and the process of European integration. The nationalist parties in Europe fear economic and cultural globalisation, multicultural- ism, immigrants, Islam, materialism and consumerism that – in their opinion – threaten their respective nations.

This article shows Serbia’s road to the European Union, mainly Serbian’s problems. First problem was a cooperation with International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia with was solved in 2011 and Serbia meantime could ratify the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and put forward an official proposal of membership in the European Union. Second and the biggest problem is now relations with Kosovo. In 2011 mostly under European Union’s infl uence Serbia had started negotiations with Kosovo but meantime did not agree with its indpendence. However the progress in cooperation with Kosovo made possible to start negotiations with the European Union and ratification of Agreement and now open two negotiation’s chapters. Currently government with a strong Serbian society support wants cooperate with the European Union because in this they see correct way of Serbia’s transformation. Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vučić is planning to fi nish all negotiations by end of 2018 and become a member in 2020.

At first sight, the idea of European integration seems to be an entirely modern matter. If we talk about it, it is most likely in frames of decades, or utmost (considering the change of millennium) we talk about it as a matter of the last century. However, we can undoubtedly find roots of European integration far earlier – namely in the period when Roman Empire was forming not only the disposition of Europe, but also the history of a part of the African and Asian continent. Although motivations of those, who inspired the European integration, were different, we can also see efforts to ensure lasting peace by peace agreements.

Opis:
Responsible business is created based on pursuit of common values, including those that are characteristic of the integrating Europe. Integration is affected by cultural diversity of individual countries. It translates into organisational cultures of the individual business entities that are functioning in the European market. In particular, the organisational culture is important in the corporations functioning in the global market, and executing processes of internationalisation of their activities. The concept that takes into account common values irrespective of the place of executing business activities is CSR (corporate social responsibility). CSR refers to simultaneous pursuit of social, ecological and economic objectives. The premises of CSR have been adopted by the international community. In the European Union market, this concept may be conducive to integration processes through the execution of common European values by companies, based on the expectations of their shareholders. The paper analyses the effect of cultures of European countries as well as the effect of governments of particular countries on management in companies and local conditions on the execution of CSR. Execution of CSR, as well as taking into consideration the sustainability premises, may constitute the basis for creation of responsible business

Opis:
Differentiated integration is often considered ‘integration gone wrong’ and not a normal and permanent feature of the ever larger and more heterogeneous European Union. With the growing impact of the widening, deepening and politicization dynamics, the Union has been conceptualized as a ‘system of differentiated integration’. At the same time, concerns over ‘disintegration’ are mounting. In this light it seems crucial to refl ect on the relationship between differentiation and disintegration: does the former lead to the latter? Should we prevent further differentiation, or promote it as means of making the EU more successful? On one hand, European integration theories provide few adequate answers on the mechanisms and conditions for disintegration. On the other hand, analysis of other regional organizations puts the European dilemma into perspective, and it seems that the existence of various forms of differentiation does not prevent successful cooperation.

This article aims to explain the phenomena of incredibly broad consensus among the Scottish political elites around European integration. All relevant political forces (present in the 2016–2021 term in the Scottish Parliament) have une quivocally supported further membership. European integration and the EU are specifically defi ned in public debate to carry out certain functions from the perspective of the Scottish political elite. These interpretations in this text are divided into three categories, serving three basic functions: facilitation of the process of increasing the competences of Scottish institutions (through independence or decentralisation), support for social development based on left-wing values and strengthening the distinctiveness of Scotland’s national identity. They were distinguished through in-depth analysis of scientifi c literature, documents of public institutions and political parties and statements of Scottish politicians. Author concludes that the distinction between the three basic functions of European integration from the perspective of the Scottish political elite is justified, although it is not always possible to draw a precise line between them. It is also easy to see that there are interrelationships between the different elements of these functions.

Opis:
The Euro zone has undergone profound institutional changes since the occurrence of its 2010 crisis. The EU countries which, due to different reasons, have not entered to the EMU, must rethink their calculus. Standard economic analysis should be now supplemented with political-institutional dimension. Under these circumstances the article sketches three possible scenarios for Poland, which should be taken into account by decision-makers: (a) fast accession to the euro zone. (b) laggard ‘fence sitting’, and (c) ‘shutting the door’. Each of them raises important economic and politicoinstitutional consequences. The text argues that in overall assessment, the longer the accession to the euro area is delayed, the stronger the risk of Poland’s peripherization in the EU. Therefore the comprehensive analysis of costs and benefi ts under new circumstances should be done fast.

The article aims at determining the inflation influence between Poland and selected EU member states. Although for some time the general inflation level in those countries was definitely controllable, the problem seems to be returning. That is why in this article, using the model of Vector AutoRegression (VAR) and Granger causality test, we are attempting to determine inflation influences on Poland. The study confirmed the impact of the selected countries on Polish inflation, expressed the general HICP index. However, in the case of Germany, the method has not proved the existence of such interactions. For this reason, it is made an attempt to clarify the reasons for non-compliance findings with data showing Germany as a Polish main trading partner for more than two decades. The authors try to show that lack of influence can be seen in the excessive generality of the main HICP index and predict that the chosen method confirm the effect of foreign trade indices in the HICP.

The purpose of this paper is to provide the impact of mobility labour market in social and economic aspects. Labor market flexibility is defined in different ways by different authors. Some define flexibility as the speed at which the labor market can act as a regulatory agent in response to an economic shock. Others identify flexible labor market as a mechanism that helps in establishing a stable equilibrium, with a low degree of structural unemployment. Increasing labor market flexibility also occurs through the distribution of the labor force, between employers, countries or different tasks. This can be achieved through the promotion of geographical mobility of labor across regions and across borders. This article makes clear how the geographical mobility of labor is a regulation mechanism in the economy, which helps him adjust to economic shocks.

The ongoing EU–Turkey accession negotiations are probably the most complex talks related to the enlargement process in the EU’s history. Although they were initiated in 2005, so far both sides have managed to provisionally close only one out of 35 negotiation chapters. What’s more, the bilateral relations between the EU and Turkey are growing more and more tense. The most recent developments only prove that the talks may grind to a halt. It seems that both sides are tired of the endless negotiations and unexpected events, like the 2016 coup d’état in Turkey. The main aim of this article is to analyse the current political developments related to EU–Turkey negotiations in detail and find answers to two research questions. Will Turkey and the European Union face a diplomatic failure? What are the potential short-term scenarios?

The path of European economic integration these days seems to be dominated by the European Union – its functioning and current challenges. It is however worth emphasizing, that the process of European integration together with commercial and trade aspects thereof, includes also elements which remain beyond the mainstream of Union–oriented debate and involve countries not being EU Member States. European Economic Area (EEA) is a good example of that. The supranational model of integration combined with inclinations towards more traditional, intergovernmental, concept of cooperation resulted in a very interesting form of economic integration grouping. The motives for establishing EEA, the mosaic of interests represented by states engaged, the economic conditionings in that respect and – finally – the character of EEA and the peculiar instruments of decision-making are then worth a closer analysis. No less important are perspectives of EEA further development. Those problems are the main elements of considerations presented in this contribution.

The paper examines the efforts to enhance regional cooperation in the Western Balkans and how this has increased engagement between the EU and the Western Balkans. The regional initiatives are more present when the European Union (EU) shows little interest in the Western Balkans region. However, these efforts have yet to address all the concerns adequately and have not brought to life tangible results despite many political declarations. One of the most commented initiatives, like the Open Balkans, has caused concern in the region and caused tension between Kosovo and Albania over the past few years. The paper enlightens the challenges of regional cooperation during the last years, the contribution of this process in the integration process, and the role played by Albania. Also, the paper tries to analyze the success and failures of the "Open Balkan" initiative and the Regional Common Market. Furthermore, the paper framework examined the progress of regional cooperation initiatives and the region's attention to the European integration process. Additionally, the paper seeks to determine whether regional cooperation is a viable alternative for the region or merely an external-driven initiative and the role of the EU in promoting regional cooperation
