Opis:
The paper describes the chemical modification of PVC consisting in the introduction of amino groups (1,4-dioxane, diethylenetriamine), and then cross-linking with dichlorodiethyl ether. The optimal extraction time was obtained for the polymer that had more chlorine atoms substituted with diethylenetriamine groups and ether. The obtained polymers were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), elemental analysis (CHN) and differential thermal analysis (DTA).
W pracy opisano chemiczną modyfikację PVC polegającą na wprowadzeniu grup aminowych (1,4-dioksan, dietylenotriamina), a następnie sieciowaniu eterem dichlorodietylowym. Optymalny czas ekstrakcji uzyskano w przypadku polimeru, który miał więcej atomów chloru podstawionych grupami dietylenotriaminowymi i eterem. Otrzymane polimery scharakteryzowano za pomocą spektroskopii w podczerwieni (FTIR), analizy elementarnej (CHN) oraz różnicowej analizy termicznej (DTA).

The paper employs a threshold regression framework conditioned by two COVID-19 related proxies, to investigate whether Bitcoin and Ether exhibit short-term safe haven or diversiefir features for stock and bond markets. Both cryptocurrencies fulfil a diversiefir role for the responsible investments represented by sustainable stock market indices, a safe haven role for major bond markets and a mixed role for a selection of representative stock market indices. Furthermore, in times characterized by an increasing number of COVID-19 daily cases or deaths the statistical relationship between both cryptocurrencies and the main nfiancial market determinants weakens.

Opis:
The isocyanate-based curing agents used for polyurethane are toxic and hygroscopic in nature. In the present work, an alternate approach was adopted, a reaction between the unsaturated rubber having an α-methylene hydrogen atom and a dinitrosobenzene (DNB) - generating system (quinol ether of 1,4-benzoquinone dioxime, QE) without a catalyst, thus generating a cured system. QE is a novel curing agent for propellant applications which imparts the necessary curing. The curing reaction between nitrile butatadiene rubber (NBR) and quinol ether (QE) was studied by FTIR and the results revealed the formation of anil groups (Ar–C=N). The anil group results from the reaction between NBR and DNB, generated on decomposition of QE. Propellant formulations were prepared with variation of the curing agent from 0.2 to 0.5%. The composition and rheological, mechanical, ballistic and thermal properties of the resulting cured systems were investigated. The viscosity and spreadability were suitable for casting. The tensile strength, modulus, and hardness show an increasing trend and the elongation decreases on varying QE from 0.2 to 0.5% in the propellant. However, all of the compositions showed nearly the same burning rate and pressure exponent. The QE based curing system is non-hygroscopic and has extremely low toxicity. The experimental results revealed that the proposed curing agent may find application in explosives and propellants.

Opis:
Sodium-ion batteries (SiBs) have attracted substantial interest as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries because of the low cost. There have been many studies on the development of new anode materials that could react with sodium by conversion mechanism. SnO2 is a promising candidate due to its low cost and high theoretical capacity. However, SnO2 has the same problem as other anodes during the conversion reaction, i.e., the volume of the anode repeatedly expands and contracts by cycling. Herein, anode is composed of carbon nanofiber embedded with SnO2 nanopowder. The resultant electrode showed improvement of cyclability. The optimized SnO2 electrode showed high capacity of 1275 mAh g-1 at a current density of 50 mA g-1. The high conductivity of the optimized electrode resulted in superior electrochemical performance.

This paper presents the results of investigations into dry methane reforming (DMR). The process was aimed at obtaining synthesis gas required for the production of dimethyl ether (DME). The effect of temperature, pressure and inlet gas composition on the process was determined in the experimental part of this work. The tests were carried out in a laboratory tubular reactor over a Ni/CaO–Al2O3 catalyst. The obtained experimental results were used to verify literature kinetic data and to develop a mathematical model of the DMR process.

Opis:
Nitrocellulose (NC) with a semi-rigid polymer chain is one of the typical traditional cellulose derivatives. Optimization of its mechanical properties is of great significance for improving the performance of NC-based propellants. The nitrate glycerol ether cellulose (NGEC) was prepared by introducing glycerol onto the unreacted, free hydroxyl groups on NC through a three-step process (alkalization, etherification, and nitration). The effects of both the nitration process and the degree of etherification on the NGEC nitrogen content were qualitatively explored. By adding NGEC into modified double-base propellant, a standard engine grain with a diameter of 50 mm was produced by adsorption, granulation, and screw extrusion. The heat of explosion, and other physical properties of NGEC were characterized and the variation in mechanical properties and performance after storage for 6 years was investigated. The results indicated that the sensitivity was improved, and the stability was slightly decreased on increasing the nitrogen content of NGEC. Compared with NC containing similar nitrogen levels, NGEC exhibited a slightly higher heat of explosion, similar compatibility, and lower sensitivity. Additionally, the solubility of NGEC in ethanol/ether exceeded 99.7%. Through branched-chain chemical modification, the glycerol ether played a significant role in achieving internal plasticization among the cellulose chains.

A series of the terpolymers of poly[(trimethylene terephthalate)-block-(oxytetramethylene)-block-laurolactam] with a variable molar ratio of ether and amide block and constant molecular weights of PA12 = 2000 g/mole and PTMO = 1000 g/mole have been obtained. The infl uence of changes of these molar ratios on the functional properties and the values of phase change temperatures of the products have been determined. The thermal properties and the phase separation of obtained systems were defi -ned by DSC, DMTA and WAXS methods. The chemical structure of obtained materials was studied by FT-IR and 13C NMR methods. The mechanical and elastic properties of these polymers were evaluated.

To study the number of ethylene oxide (EO) groups effect on the flotation of rutile, three collectors with different EO number were evaluated: AC1203 (with three EO number), AC1210 (with ten EO number), AC1215 (with fifteen EO number). In addition to the flotation experiments, zeta potential measurements, collector adsorption experiments and XPS analysis were conducted to elucidate the adsorption mechanism. The results of flotation demonstrated that dodecylamine polyoxyethylene ether exhibited a profound collecting ability towards rutile mineral, it was worth mentioned that the recovery of rutile decreased with the increase of EO number. On the basis of zeta potential tests and XPS analysis, both protonated and neutral tertiary amine groups could act with rutile surface through electrostatic effect and hydrogen bond interaction. Furthermore, the results of collector adsorption experiments showed that with the increase of EO number, a lower adsorption density of collectors on rutile surface could be caused due to the steric hinder effects.

The combustion and emission characteristics of homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) fuelled by methyl decanoate (MD) with different engine speeds and dimethyl ether (DME) mixing ratios are investigated in this work. Engine data of a MAN B&W 6S70MC low-speed two-stroke marine diesel engine were used for the reactor. The results show that a decrease of engine speed has little effect on the in-cylinder temperature and pressure of the engine at constant excess air coefficient of 1.5. Meanwhile, NOx emissions decrease with a decrease of engine speed in pure MD HCCI combustion. The results also indicate that NOx and CO2 emissions decrease significantly with an increase in the percentage of DME in MD and DME mixing combustion at a constant total mole fraction and engine speed of 85 revolutions per minute (r/min).

In this study, the environmental impacts of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) treatment and its conversion in anaerobic digestion to glycerol tertiary butyl ether (GTBE) were assessed. The production process is a part of the innovative project of a municipal waste treatment plant. The BioRen project is funded by the EU’s research and innovation program H2020. A consortium has been set up to implement the project and to undertake specific activities to achieve the expected results. The project develops the production of GTBE which is a promising fuel additive for both diesel and gasoline. It improves engine performance and reduces harmful exhaust emissions. At the same time, the project focuses on using non-recyclable residual organic waste to produce this ether additive. The aim of this paper is the evaluation through Life Cycle Assessment of the environmental impact GTBE production in comparison with a production of other fuels. To quantify the environmental impacts of GTBE production, the ILCD 2011 Midpoint+ v.1.10 method was considered. The study models the production of GTBE, including the sorting and separation of municipal solid waste (MSW), pre-treatment of organic content, anaerobic fermentation, distillation, catalytic dehydration of isobutanol to isobutene, etherification of GTBE with isobutene and hydrothermal carbonization (HTC). The results indicate that unit processes: sorting and hydrothermal carbonization mostly affect the environment. Moreover, GTBE production resulted in higher environmental impact than the production of conventional fuels.
W artykule przedstawiono ocenę wpływu na środowisko konwersji frakcji stałej komunalnych odpadów organicznych (MSW) w procesie fermentacji beztlenowej do eteru tert butylowego glicerolu (GTBE). Proces produkcji stanowi część innowacyjnego projektu instalacji do przetwarzania odpadów komunalnych. Projekt BioRen finansowany jest w ramach unijnego programu badań i innowacji „Horyzont 2020”. W celu realizacji projektu i podjęcia konkretnych działań zmierzających do osiągnięcia oczekiwanych rezultatów powołano konsorcjum. Projekt BioRen obejmuje produkcję eteru tert butylowego glicerolu jako dodatku do paliw zarówno do oleju napędowego, jak i benzyny, poprawiającego osiągi silnika i zmniejszającego szkodliwe emisje do środowiska. Jednocześnie do syntezy GTBE planuje się wykorzystywać resztkowe odpady organiczne nienadające się do recyklingu. Celem niniejszego badania jest ilościowa ocena wpływu produkcji GTBE na środowisko w porównaniu z produkcją innych paliw za pomocą środowiskowej oceny cyklu życia (LCA). W badaniach uwzględniono metodę ILCD 2011 Midpoint+ v.1.10. W ramach badań modeluje się produkcję GTBE obejmującą sortowanie i segregację stałych odpadów komunalnych (MSW), wstępną obróbkę zawartości substancji organicznych, fermentację beztlenową, destylację, katalityczne odwodnienie izobutanolu do izobutenu, eteryfikację oraz hydrotermiczną karbonizację (HTC). Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, iż dwa procesy jednostkowe – sortowanie i hydrotermiczna karbonizacja – mają najwyższe negatywne oddziaływanie na środowisko. Ponadto, analiza LCA wykazała, iż produkcja GTBE posiada znacznie większy wpływ na środowisko niż produkcja paliw konwencjonalnych.

This work aimed to characterize the effect of the monomers chemical structure on the selected properties of the green thermoplastic poly(ether-urethane)s. During synthesis two types of polyether biopolyols, 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and bio-based 1,3-propanediol were employed. Materials were synthesized with the use of two step method and two different prepolymers, which were mixed together in equimolar quantities. Obtained materials were characterized by spectroscopic method, size exclusion chromatography, thermal, static mechanical and melt flow index tests. It was confirmed that the prepolymers mixture has an effect on the thermal stability and selected properties of synthesized green thermoplastic poly(ether-urethane)s.
Zbadano wpływ struktury chemicznej monomerów na wybrane właściwości zielonych termoplastycznych elastomerów poli(etero-uretanowych). W syntezie wykorzystano dwa rodzaje biopolioli polieterowych, 4,4’-diizocyjanian difenylometanu oraz 1,3-propanodiol pochodzenia roślinnego. Materiały zsyntezowano z wykorzystaniem dwustopniowej metody, w której zastosowano równomolową mieszaninę dwóch prepolimerów. Otrzymane materiały scharakteryzowano za pomocą metod spektroskopowych, chromatografii żelowej, w statycznej próbie rozciągania, w badaniach termicznych oraz na podstawie wskaźnika szybkości płynięcia. Stwierdzono, że mieszanina prepolimerów wpływa na stabilność termiczną oraz wybrane właściwości otrzymanych zielonych termoplastycznych elastomerów poli(etero-uretanowych).

For the first time, the technological aspects of the highly productive and selective synthesis of UV-reactive poly(ethylene glycol) mono-1-propenyl ether monomers was developed. The solvent-free isomerization of model commercial available 2-allyloxyethanol and allyloxypoly(ethylene glycol) derivatives, type Allyl–[OCH2CH2]n–OH, n = 1–5, into a 1-propenyl derivative under the homogeneous catalysis conditions using the ruthenium complexes were evaluated. The effect of a various reaction conditions (i.e. the concentration of [Ru] complex, the reaction temperature, reaction gas atmosphere) together with trace amounts of allyl hydroperoxides formed via autoxidation reaction of allyl substrates on the productivity of catalyst was examined in detail. Moreover, the significant role of the allyl substrate structures on the catalytic activity of ruthenium catalysts were also recognized. The optimal parameters of the scaled-up synthesis together with productivity of catalyst were first established.

The adsorption behaviors of an ether amine surfactant, N1-(3-((8-methyl-nonyl)oxy) propyl)propane-1,3-diamine, on collophane and quartz were studied. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to characterize the thermodynamic behavior of the adsorption process and to calculate the maximum adsorption. Results demonstrated that the adsorption of the ether amine on quartz was greater than collophane. Adsorption mechanisms were studied by means of contact angle measurement, zeta potential measurement, FT-IR analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that the adsorption of the ether amine surfactant on quartz surface was easier and more efficient than collophane. Micro-flotation tests testified that the collector can efficiently separate collophane from quartz at room temperature in neutral medium.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of tests of the SI engine fuelled by LPG with the addition of DME in the form of a mixture of gaseous fuels. Experimental tests were carried out on a chassis dynamometer in the full range of engine loads, at a fixed rotational speed: 2000, 2500 and 3000 rpm. The use of dimethyl ether (DME) as a fuel component makes it possible to exploit its important advantages. DME can be produced as a renewable fuel, which is important from the point of view of ecology. Another important fact is the presence of oxygen in this fuel, which has a positive effect on the engine volumetric efficiency. During the tests, the ignition timing was also adjusted due to the very good DME flammability. Two additional correction levels were applied, increasing the ignition advance by 3 and 6 CA degrees, compared to the factory settings of the driver. The analysis of the obtained results allowed determining the dependence of the basic engine parameters, in the function of the correction of ignition advance angle. In the summary, attention was also paid to the possibility of determining corrected maps of the ignition advance angle taking into account the variable proportions of fuel components.

Opis:
The ecological issues and the depletion of crude oil, has led the researchers to seeking for non-petroleum based alternative fuels, along with more advanced combustion technologies, and after-treatment systems. The use of clean alternative fuels is the one of the most perspective method that aiming at resolving of the said issues. One of the promising alternative fuels that can be used as a clean high-efficiency compression ignition fuel with reduced of toxic emissions is dimethyl ether (DME). Moreover, it can be produced from various feedstocks such as natural gas, coal, biomass and others. This article describes the properties and the potential of DME application on the combustion and emission reduction characteristics of the compression ignition engines.
