Opis:
The aim of this paper is to discuss the genesis, process and consequences of crucial assassinations and political revolutions which occurred in Turkey in the 20th and 21th century. It is essential to consider numerous political conditionings, as social relations, which have created the necessity of changes in the political system of Turkey, are to be kept in mind. The thesis has been accepted that Turkey, in the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st century, was a country susceptible to revolution attempts and political-military assassinations, which posed a threat to the national security and internal stability, especially of political and constitutional nature. This paper presents, in chronological order, the causes, processes and effects of assassinations to gain political power in Turkeyfrom the beginning of the 20th century onwards, with special consideration given to their impact on the internal stability and the status of Turkey in the arena of international politics.

Opis:
Although he used to be praised by the West as a modernizer of Turkey, Erdoğan’s mode and discourse of governance have changed drastically over the last decade – he now employs severe counter-democratic measures and exclusionary, populist discourses. This article explores Erdoğan’s rule, focusing in particular on the discourses he promotes in order to keep power and attain increasing electoral support. In an analysis based on the theoretical foundations of Critical Discourse Analysis, Erdoğan’s reign is characterized by specific, exclusionary discourses, from creating the discursive Other established as the enemy and engaging in conspiracy discourses, to openly chastising and castigating his political opponents, while his popularity continues to increase.

Opis:
W tekście dokonano analizy rynku prasy drukowanej w Turcji w latach 2012–2020. Zwrócono uwagę na zmianę struktury własności i sieć powiązań własnościowych w grupach medialnych, spadek czytelnictwa gazet i czasopism oraz okoliczności społeczno-polityczne, jakie doprowadziły do upadku niezależnych mediów w Turcji. Zaliczono do nich: protesty w Istambule w 2013 roku, nieudany zamach stanu w 2016 roku, korupcję władzy.
In this paper, we analyse the press market in Turkey between 2012 and 2020. We focus on the change in the ownership structure and ownership networks of media groups, the decline in newspaper and magazine readership, and the socio-political factors which led to the collapse of independent media in Turkey: protests in Istanbul in 2013 and the failed coup in 2016, corruption.

The purpose of the article is to analyze Turkey’s role in international relations according to Turkey’s involvement in conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as in the southern Caucasus. Author wants to propose a thesis that regional power definition is quite inadequate for present Turkey Despite the fact that without consulting turkey’s interests, it is impossible to end wars in Libya and Syria In addition, the author wants to compare Turkey’s role in international relations with its role in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and with the conflict of interests between Turkey and the other states in NATO. The main goal for the author is to determinate the role of present Turkey in the fast-changing world-order.

Opis:
The article deals with the admission of Turkey into the structures of the European Union, as a country located in only a small part in Europe but at the same time constituting a strategic location from the point of view of EU security. The time frame of the analysis made here basically covers the whole period of accession negotiations, but due to the length of the negotiations, only the most important elements will be emphasised (beginning of the accession process, its subsequent stages, problems). The aim of the article is to point out the opportunities and barriers to this accession, whose vision moves away because of Turkey’s deepening political crisis triggered by president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The main thesis of the article is the statement that the negotiation process, which started years ago, was inhibited and slowed down as a result of subsequent events taking place both in the EU (migration crisis) and in Turkey itself (military coup of 2016). The author wants to answer two questions: (1) what problems, over the years of accession negotiations, proved to be insurmountable in this process? and (2) what prospects for Turkey’s accession are drawn on the basis of the current positions of both negotiating parties? Empirics in this case must be based on an analysis of the history of the Turkish accession process and the most current media reports (mainly on the 2016 coup)
