Opis:
The dependence of bilinear and biquadratic interlayer coupling on the thickness of magnetic films is analysed for a trilayer structure with specular reflection at the outer surfaces. It is shown that the oscillation periods corresponding to the case where the thickness of one of the two magnetic films is constant, while that of the second one is varied, can be different from the oscillation periods in the case where the thicknesses of both magnetic films vary simultaneously. The nonoscillatory component of the coupling parameter is shown to be weakly dependent on the thickness of the magnetic films.

Opis:
Mixed-metal complex consisting of ruthenium(II,III) pivalate, ([Ru₂(piv)₄]⁺) (Hpiv = pivalic acid), tetraethylammonium and octacyanidotungstate(V) ions, (Et₄N)[{Ru₂(piv)₄}₂W(CN)₈]·4H₂O, was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared and UV-vis spectra and temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibilities (2-300 K). The magnetic susceptibilities, zero-field-cooled and field-cooled magnetizations, and AC susceptibility data showed that the present complex is ferrimagnetic with T_{c} value of 80 K. The field dependence of magnetization exhibited a hysteresis with a coercive field of 17000 Oe at 5 K.

Opis:
The general review of the history and present-day situation of diluted magnetic semiconductor investigation in Ukraine is given by S. Ryabchenko. Some noteworthy results of diluted magnetic semiconductor investigation obtained in Ukraine are pointed out. The main features of the present day situation are mentioned also. As an example of last diluted magnetic semiconductor investigations, the new result obtained by Abramishvili, Komarov, Ryabchenko, Semenov, Kyrychenko and Dubowski for Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$Te/CdTe/Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$Te quantum well structures grown by laser ablation method are presented. A weak additional line was observed in the reflectivity spectra of a 27 Å wide quantum well with x= 0.11 in the barrier. Such additional line has not been observed in spectra of similar molecular beam epitaxy grown structures. Based on the theoretical computations of the energies and the relation of intensities of the main and additional lines we conclude that this line might be associated with hh2 → e1 transitions, which ceases to be forbidden in the presence of technologically caused asymmetry of quantum well potential profile.

Opis:
We study the exciton localization in the semimagnetic semiconductor Cd$\text{}_{1-x}$Mn$\text{}_{x}$Te by selective excitation of the exciton photoluminescence. We show that the energy position of the effective mobility edge for excitons is subject to the competition between nonmagnetic and magnetic localization due to the magnetic polaron formation. External magnetic fields affect this competition by suppressing the polaron formation, which shifts the mobility edge.

We report the discovery of new effect in La$\text{}_{1}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{3}$ Nd$\text{}_{1}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{3}$ Ca$\text{}_{1}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{3}$ MnO$\text{}_{3}$ - the jump of magnetization induced by external electric field E (2.5-4)V/cm at a given magnetic field H (18-25) kOe at T=4.2 K. This effect is large when compared with a metamagnetic transition induced by the magnetic field in many substances. The origin of the magnetization jump induced by external electric field has not yet been explained. We assume that this transition is induced by the hopping of E-excited e$\text{}_{g}$ electrons and that this is a source of a jumpwise increase in magnetization in the non-collinear magnetic phase within the perovskite. This effect can be attributed to a strong coupling between carriers induced by the electric field (the conduction electrons e$\text{}_{g}$), and the local magnetic moments (t$\text{}_{2g}$-localized spins) through a mechanism of the Zener double exchange.

Opis:
Oscillations of photoluminescence properties in external magnetic fields are investigated in CdTe modulation doped quantum wells. The oscillatory behaviour of the luminescence intensity, the line width and the g factor is due to many-body effects in the 2-dimensional electron gas. The oscillation of photoluminescence intensity can be easily used as optically detected Shubnikov de Haas effect to determine the electron concentration in quantum wells without contacts.

Wire patterns (80-1000 nm) of molecular beam epitaxy grown Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se/ZnSe quantum well were fabricated by a CH$\text{}_{4}$/H$\text{}_{2}$ reactive ion etching technique. Photoluminescence emission shows with decreasing lateral size a broadening of line shape and a spectral red shift. Calculations for the change of the band gap due to strain relaxation show that this shift of the photoluminescence emission for narrow Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se/ZnSe structures (lattice mismatch of 1.34%) can be explained by a partial elastic strain relaxation of the biaxially compressively strained Cd$\text{}_{0.2}$Zn$\text{}_{0.8}$Se quantum well after the patterning process.

Oceny zagrożenia suszą uprawy buraka cukrowego dokonano na podstawie standaryzowanej ewapotranspiracji ETs i częstotliwości występowania suszy w poszczególnych klasach. W pracy przeanalizowano przebieg wartości ET, ETs oraz częstotliwości występowania na poszczególnych stacjach z uwzględnieniem gatunków gleb. Na podstawie ciągów ewapotranspiracji rzeczywistej ET w okresie wegetacji z lat 1970-2004, z 5 stacji pomiarowych leżących w różnych strefach agroklimatycznych Polski oraz 4 gleb o różnym zapasie wody użytecznej obliczono standaryzowaną ewapotranspirację ETs. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy stwierdzono różnice ETs na poszczególnych stacjach oraz niewielkie zróżnicowanie na poszczególnych glebach w obrębie jednej stacji. Można więc przyjąć, że wybrany region jest niemalże jednorodny pod względem wartości ETs. Częstotliwość występowania wszystkich rodzajów susz wynosiła 23-37%. Ekstremalne susze na większości stacji stanowiły 3% całego okresu wegetacji, jedynie w Bydgoszczy były dwukrotnie częstsze.
Drought risk estimation for sugar beet was made based on standardized ewapotranspiration index ETs and the frequency of drought occurrence. Standardized ewapotranspiration index ETs was calculated for 4 soil types of different useful soil water reserves using the series of actual ewapotranspiration ET for sugar beet growing seasons 1970-2004 taken from 5 measurement stations located in various agro-climatic regions of Poland. Differences between the stations were observed but soils did not differ in the ETs index. Three classes of drought have been distinguished in the range of negative values of ETs. Frequency of all drought classes ranged from 23 to 37 %. Extreme droughts at 4 stations involved 3 % of the whole growing season. In Bydgoszcz extreme droughts were more frequent (6 %).

This article presents ecological conversion as a necessary condition for true reconciliation in light of the Apostolic Exhortation Reconciliatio et Paenitentia and other papal statements. Ecological conversion is imperative because sin affects man’s relationship with the created world. The essence of ecological conversion depends primarily on acknowledging the truth about man’s role in the world and the fact that there is a limited amount of natural resources. The Church does not confine itself to theoretical deliberations; rather, She desires to guide pastoral reconciliation, in which the sacraments, catechesis, and dialogue with other views and concepts of the world play a particular role.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie zagadnienia nawrócenia ekologicznego jako koniecznego warunku prawdziwego pojednania w świetle adhortacji apostolskiej Reconciliatio et paenitentia i innych wypowiedzi papieskich. Jest ono niezbędne, ponieważ grzech narusza także relację wobec świata stworzonego. Następnie została ukazana jego istota. Polega ono przede wszystkim na uznaniu prawdy o roli osoby ludzkiej w świecie oraz uwzględnieniu faktu ograniczonej ilości zasobów naturalnych. Kościół nie poprzestaje jednak na rozważaniach o charakterze teoretycznym. Pragnie bowiem prowadzić duszpasterstwo pojednania, w którym szczególną rolę odgrywają sakramenty, katecheza oraz dialog z różnymi poglądami i koncepcjami świata.

In an article published 1997 Géza Alföldy explained his ideas about the generic terms of dii Maiores and dii Magni. For the former term there are still no testimonies with theonymic referents known. This is not the case for the so called „Great Gods”. Exploring all epigraphic evidence including the epithets dominus et domina and other votive formulars, we come to the following conclusions: the dii Maiores rather do not refer to the main roman gods and goddesses but to the classical healers Aesculapius et Hygia. Like other Greek and Roman divinities they were together also invoked as dii Magni. It seems very likely, that the votive incriptions from Gorsium (dii Magni), which G. Alföldy was talking about, can also be linked with this famous couple of healing gods.

Inspiracją do napisania tego artykułu była pięćdziesiąta rocznica ogłoszenia przez Sobór Watykański II konstytucji Gaudium et spes. Ponowna jej lektura upoważnia do stwierdzenia, iż podstawy i główne tezy antropologii teologicznej w niej zaprezentowane zachowują swoją aktualność. Natomiast przedstawiony w konstytucji Gaudium et spes kontekst społeczno-kulturowy życia i działalności człowieka wymaga uzupełnienia o nowe zjawiska, które przed pięćdziesięciu laty w ogóle nie występowały lub nie występowały z taką intensywnością, jak to ma miejsce aktualnie w społeczeństwach cywilizacji zachodniej. Zmiany w zakresie filozofii i stylu życia, w sferze wiary i religijności, a zwłaszcza w postrzeganiu ludzkiej seksualności oraz rozumieniu istoty małżeństwa i rodziny skłaniają do spojrzenia na soborową teologię człowieka przez pryzmat miłosierdzia. Również nauczanie papieży św. Jana Pawła II i Franciszka skłania do refleksji nad tajemnicą człowieka w duchu miłosierdzia chrześcijańskiego. Należy podkreślić, iż współczesnemu człowiekowi ukształtowanemu w mentalności kultury zachodniej jest o wiele trudniej znaleźć swoją drogę do Boga, niż miało to miejsce we wcześniejszych epokach. Jedną z dróg prowadzących do Boga, którą niewątpliwie można zaproponować współczesnemu człowiekowi, jest droga miłosierdzia.
The inspiration of this article was 50 anniversary of the proclamation of the Constitution Gaudium et Spes by the Second Vatican Council. Re-reading of this document leads to the conclusion that the main message of theological anthropology is still important. On the other hand, social and cultural context of life and human activity, shown in the Constitution, needs be supplemented with new phenomena that fifty years ago did not exist or did not occur with such intensity, as it is currently in the societies of Western civilization. Changes concerning philosophy and lifestyle, faith and religiosity, especially changes in perception of human sexuality and the meaning of the essence of marriage and family leads to look at Vatican II’s theology of human beings from the perspective of mercy. The teaching of the popes St. John Paul II and Francis also invites us to reflect on the mystery of human being in the spirit of Christian mercy. It should be emphasized that for modern man, with the mentality of Western culture, it is much more difficult to find his way to God, than it was in previous times. One of the ways leading to God, can be proposed to modern man, is the way of mercy.

This article is an application note of hardware implementation the train simulator driver stand based on own electronic devices and open software platform MaSzyna. Main electronic controller is based on Atmel ATMega2560 8-bit microcontroller. This type of simulators can be used to train drivers. This is confirmed by train drivers who tested the simulator and teachers of the profession. The developed communication protocol has been used for several locomotive pulpits projects.

The role of double-exchange, a non-Heisenberg spin-spin interaction between the magnetic ions of identical chemical nature but different charge states, in the mixed-valency diluted magnetic semiconductors is discussed. The mechanism correlates the spins of magnetic ions by virtual hopping of a d-electron from one ion to the other via the p-band states. We calculate the energy spectrum for pairs of magnetic ions within the charged ionic clusters stabilized by the charge-charge correlations, taking into account simultaneously both the double and the superexchange. The ferromagnetic, non-Heisenberg double exchange might compete with the Heisenberg-like, ferrimagnetic superexchange, thus resulting in canted alignments of ionic spins.

We report on the MBE growth and magnetooptical studies of (120)-oriented CdTe/CdMnTe quantum well structures. The quality of structures, as evaluated by the photoluminescence line width, was as good as that of the best structures grown in ⟨100⟩ direction. No spin splitting enhancement, expected theoretically, due to the reduction of the antiferromagnetic interaction between Mn ions in CdTe/CdMnTe digital alloy quantum wells grown along ⟨120⟩ direction was observed.

Magnetic, transport and structural properties of bulk crystals of Sn$\text{}_{1-x}$Gd$\text{}_{x}$Te with Gd content 0.002 < x < 0.09 and varying carrier concentrations obtained by an isothermal annealing were studied in the temperature range T = 1.5 - 80 K. We found the effect of resonant increase in antiferromagnetic spin-spin exchange interactions in the crystals with 0.025 ≤ x ≤ 0.05. No effect was found in crystals either with higher (x > 0.05) or with lower (x < 0.025) Gd concentration. The observed Gd composition dependence of the magnetic and transport properties of SnGdTe can be explained in a proposed model relating these experimental properties to the Gd composition induced shift of the position of Gd$\text{}^{3+}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{2+}$ level with respect to the top of the valence band of SnGdTe.
