Opis:
Reduction of pollutant emission by exhaust systems due to stricter limits has drastically increased the impact of previously ignored factors on the results of emission tests. One such factor is the cooling of the engine by the chassis dynamometer's external fan. Improper cooling can increase the temperature of the engine and the catalytic converter. Preliminary studies conducted by the Motor Transport Institute have confirmed that the configuration of the cooling fan influences exhaust system emissions. This article discusses the results of tests aimed at identifying the cause of changes in emission levels. To achieve this aim, emission levels were measured for various configurations of the chassis dynamometer (including both the fan speed and the distance from the front of the vehicle). During the tests, measurements were taken of temporary pollutant levels in the CVS and of the temperature of exhaust before and after the catalytic converter. The results confirmed the findings of preliminary tests. Increased exhaust emission levels were noted, though not, as anticipated, during the urban driving cycle, but rather during the final phase of the extra-urban driving cycle. Measurements were taken using a single-roller chassis dynamometer equipped with a cooling fan with a regulated fan speed specified by a second-degree curve.

The results of shear strength investigations of the selected lead free-solders/substrate couples are presented. A modified shear test of a half of the lead-free solder/substrate couple has been proposed. A comparative assessment of the solder droplet size effect as well as a composition of intermetallic layer and its morphology is presented. The results achieved provide the explanation of the mechanism of solder droplet size influence on the joint quality. If the lead-free solder droplet is bigger, the time of its solidification is longer, and consequently, the varied droplet structure can be observed. In the case of a bigger droplet size, its microstructure close to the surface is composed of the crystals orientated in the same direction as the heat transfer. The layer of directionally solidified crystals weakens the joint. A morphology of the selected intermetallic layers was presented as the second problem of couples quality. In comparison to the locally discontinuous layer, the higher shear strength was obtained in the case of continuous intermetallic layer. The paper contains the results of: wettability, microstructure of soldered joints (lead free solder/Cu substrate) and shear tests investigations. The results make possible to formulate the following remarks and conclusions: the lowest shear strength was observed for the joint of pure Sn with Cu substrate, the highest shear strength was observed for the joint of SnBi solder with Cu substrate; practically, two times higher than for pure Sn with Cu substrate and solder SnIn with Cu substrate or solder SnZn with Cu substrate, in the case of double alloys SnZn the lower contact angle results in higher shear strength, however, for remaining investigated alloys such tendency was not observed, the structure of the intermetallic layer on the border of the solder/substrate plays the essential role in the final shear strength of the received joint, the shear strength results characterize the small scatter what indicates the rightness of applied device design as well as correctness of sample preparation and measurement procedure.

Racjonalne korzystanie ze środowiska naturalnego to jeden z najważniejszych priorytetów w polityce ekologicznej państwa. Gminne programy ochrony środowiska stanowią lokalne narzędzie realizacji tego celu. W artykule zaprezentowano aktualny stan wybranych komponentów środowiska naturalnego na terenie gminy Gródek nad Dunajcem: wód powierzchniowych i podziemnych, powietrza atmosferycznego, środowiska akustycznego, gleb, naturalnych uwarunkowań przyrodniczych, jako czynników sprzyjających rozwojowi turystyki. Zwrócono uwagę na zagrożenia dla środowiska naturalnego, jakie niesie za sobą stale narastająca antropopresja, oraz wskazano krótko-i długoterminową strategię działań na rzecz ograniczenia jej negatywnego wpływu na środowisko. Ponadto omówiono problematykę występowania zagrożeń naturalnych na terenie gminy, jako czynnika ograniczającego rozwój gospodarczy, oraz przedstawiono podstawowe założenia gospodarki odpadami dla gminy.
Rational use of natural environment is one of the most important priorities in the ecological State policy. The communes environmental protection programs are the local tools for this aim. The paper contains a detailed assessment of selected natural environmental element in Gródek above Dunajec river: surface and ground waters, air, environment, soil quality and nature, as a natural capacity of future tourist project. Authors have presented main antropogenic special threats on this area, as well a short- and long-term strategy of protection were given. Furthermore, the problem of natural threats (slides and flood) as a limiting factor of local development were discussed. The article presented the Waste Management Program for a commune as well.

The presented bill of amendment transposes the provisions of Directive 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment into the Polish legal order. It provides for a ban on the marketing of single-use plastic products. Traders will be required to ensure the availability of reusable packaging or alternative packaging to single-use plastic products. It also introduces a number of requirements to be met by businesses marketing certain types of single-use plastic products. The author considers the proposed solutions to be reasonable and correct.

The adoption of a specific concept of environmental policy involves a choice of life philosophy. It is about what we are intent on within environmental protection, why and for protection of which values certain actions should be taken. The article presents the essence of the relationship between axiology (theory and practice of values) and environmental protection policy mainly emphasising the wealth of concepts, ideas and diversity of activities in this sphere.

Theoretical background: The deteriorating condition of the natural environment, as a result of human activity, is one of the global problems that contemporary business entities must face. Companies in their attempts to comply with principles of environmental protection undertake activities aimed at better utilization of resources, production materials or improved efficiency. Such endeavours include the elimination of pollution, recycling of materials, reduction of waste generated, reduction of fuels and energy consumption, and limiting water usage. This contributes to improving corporate economic performance, thus, making production more efficient, more economical and safer.Purpose of the article: The purpose of this article is to identify the company’s behavior with regard to environmental protection issues. The study tests the research hypothesis that the companies’ characteristics (i.e. company size, type of activity – production/non production, the scale of activity – local and regional, national, international) are factors that significantly differentiate the involvement of companies in activities for the environmental protection.Research methods: The empirical analysis is based on primary data from 68 companies. It was carried out using the Mann–Whitney U test, chi-square independence test, and the correspondence analysis. The strength of the examined relationships was expressed by the V-Cramer coefficient.Main findings: The research showed that the level of implementation of environmental initiatives depended on both the type of business activity and the size of the company. In the opinion of the surveyed entities, the implementation of pro-environmental activities aims at improving the company’s image and, to a lesser extent, at obtaining specific economic benefits. Large companies were often involved in the implementation of pro-environmental activities more than small and medium-sized entities. Production entities were more involved in it, compared to non-production companies.

The environmental impact assessment system is designed to ensure proper environmental protection mainly at the design stage of the planned project. A serious threat to the proper operation of this system is the division of projects into smaller ones, so that they do not fall under this procedure. This practice is called „salami slicing”. One of the reasons for such behaviour of investors and administrative bodies is the misinterpretation of the term „technological connection”, which has not been defined in legal regulations yet.

The construction of building projects will always result in a degree of interference in the local environment. Legal regulations intended for the most effective protection of natural resources involve a range of procedures, without which the imitation of building projects is not possible. It concerns all investments, but the regulations especially emphasize the ones, which may negatively affect the environment. A decision on environment-related conditions, which is foreseen in the process, requires the preparation of many specialist documents which constitute attachments to the application of its issuance. One of the problems related to this procedure is the time lag associated with an environmental decision, which is difficult to determine or predict. The periods of waiting for issuing a decision for building investments of a different character were analysed in the article. The reason for this situation was also analyzed.

In the paper, the author attempts to point out the meaning of procedures for the environmental management system (EMS). Particular attention is paid to form and content as well as to the functions, proprieties and structure of the procedures. The analyses were carried out taking into account a systemic approach of the essential topics to the ISO 14001 standard. Based on the chosen procedure, some fundamental methods of elaborating upon and implementing the EMS procedures were outlined. It was also presented that procedures written in accordance with these rules might provide vital support to the improvement of the organization’s management systems and might optimize the processes in the areas they cover.

Population growth and related progress of civilization and economy, growing consumption, and at the same time economic disparity, and development between countries lead to a significant violation of the natural environment, adverse and often irreversible changes occurring therein. Nowadays demographic threats are one of the main sources of threats for the environment. Though in some countries we can observe the tendency of downward trend in the number of births (for example in Europe), in other countries especially in Africa and Asia the population growth is significant (in comparison to 1960 the population in Africa increased four times to 2010, and 2,5 times in Asia). The extending lifespan and lower infant mortality because of medicine development, changes of lifestyle, nutrition, and improved living conditions are the main factors of population growth in recent decades. The population growth leads to increased unbalanced consumption and increased production. The studies show that we get close to a dangerous boarder for example for biosphere based on indicator EF2.0 (ecological footprint) which now is 21.9 hectares per person, while the accepted ecological limit capacity for the Earth is 15.7 hectares per person. Rapidly progressive population growth on the Earth and changes under its influence can lead to global break of ecosphere. In a perspective avoiding excessive population growth can be one of strategies for sustainable development. Therefore different population growth in different parts of the world leads to specified environmental problems. For example in Africa it will lead to ground degradation and the decrease of food production. In Europe we have to cope with large energy consumption and other resources (for example water), large amount of industrial and municipal waste, poor biological variety and increased level of greenhouse gases. We have to notice that developing anthropopressure leads to new types of environmental threats so-called global ecological problems, problems which have no limits. Human population has two choices for future growth. The first ignoring increasing contamination which will consequently lead to “automatic recovery” that means coming of hunger, epidemics and population reduction in the world. The second choice assumes the need to control the population number and prevent when too high population number threatens to keep the environment in good condition. The main aim of this work is to show the meaning, influence of demographic factor on changes in natural environment. In the article the author points out that there are relations between population growth and changes occurring in the environment, describing respectively causes and projections of population growth, regional environmental problems and global environmental problems. This work is theoretical. The sources which are used are theoretical work included in literature concerning the discussed problem and public statistical data.
