Opis:
Designing power transmission systems is a complex and often time-consuming problem. In this task, various computational tools make it possible to speed up the process and verify a great many different solutions before the final one is developed. It is widely possible today to conduct computer simulations of the operation of various devices before the first physical prototype is built. The article presents an example of a dynamic model of power transmission systems, which has been developed to support work aimed at designing new and optimizing existing systems of that type, as well as to help diagnose them by designing diagnostic algorithms sensitive to early stages of damage development. The paper also presents sample results of tests conducted with the model, used at the gear design stage. In the presented model, the main goal is to reproduce the phenomena occurring in gears as well as possible, using numerous experiments in this direction featured in the literature. Many already historical models present different ways of modeling, but they often made significant simplifications, required by the limitations of the nature of computational capabilities. Differences also result from the purpose of the models being developed, and the analysis of these different ways of doing things makes it possible to choose the most appropriate approach.

Opis:
Hybrid propulsion in underwater vehicles is the new idea of combining conventional propulsion systems such as screw propellers with other kinds of propulsion like oscillating biomimetic fins, glider wings or jet thrusters. Each of these propulsion systems has its own benefits and drawbacks, and the goal is to have them complement each other in certain conditions. This paper covers the topic of a dynamic model of the pitch and heave motion of the HUUV (hybrid unmanned underwater vehicle) using screw propellers and biomimetic lateral fins. Firstly, the simulation model of the vehicle performing depth and pitch change is presented. Secondly, the vehicle’s hydrodynamic coefficients obtained from CFD simulations are discussed. Thirdly, the results of the HUUV experimental studies in a swimming pool are presented. Lastly, simulation results are compared with those of the experiment to verify the correctness of the model. The vehicle’s motion in the swimming pool during the experiments was recorded using a submerged camcorder and then analysed using the Tracker software.

We build a mathematical game model of pandemic transmission, including vaccinations of population and budget costs of different acting to eliminate pandemic. We assume the interactions among different groups: vaccinated, susceptible, exposed, infectious, super-spreaders, hospitalized and fatality, defining a system of ordinary differential equations, which describes compartment model of disease and costs of the treatment. The goal of the game is to describe the development disease under different types of treatment, but including costs of them and social restrictions, during the shortest time period. To this effect we construct a dual dynamic programming method to describe open-loop Nash equilibrium for treatment, a group of people having antibodies and budget costs. Next, we calculate numerically an approximate open-loop Nash equilibrium.

The paper presents research findings in the modelling and optimization of dynamic parameters of mechatronic systems with an induction motor. A mathematical model was developed to analyze currents in dynamic states of squirrel-cage rotors in the case of a line-to-line fault. The findings were verified experimentally using calculations for a 1.5 kW three-phase induction motor. The equations for a stationary 0x, 0y coordinate system relating to the stator were derived. The set of design variables selected in the optimization process contained parameters describing design features of the gear shafts and control units settings.

Opis:
The objective of this article was to investigate the dynamic evolution behaviors of plasma expansion plumes by pulses laser irradiating centimeter-scale spherical space debris. A calculated model of centimeter-scale spherical space debris irradiated by pulses laser was firstly deduced based on FEM (finite element method)/COMSOL, and the action rules of plasma expansion plumes by pulses laser-generated irradiating the debris were simulated for different laser powers and action times. The results showed that the velocity of plasma expansion plumes was increased with the increase of laser powers and action times. Especially, when the laser power was 700 kW and the action time was close to 25 μs, the maximum velocity of plasma expansion plumes approached 1.91 km/s, and the diffusion radius of plasma expansion plumes was increased by about 2.5 mm. Further, the diffusion radius was about twice that of 400 kW when the action time reached about 48 μs. As a result, by simulating the transient flow process of nanosecond pulses laser irradiating small spherical space debris, the flow field evolution information and plasma plumes evolution characteristics of centimeter-scale space debris at nanosecond time resolution were revealed.

Opis:
The dynamic tensile behavior of a ZrB2-SiC ceramic was investigated via split Hopkinson pressure bar tests and a bond-based peridynamic model. The experimental results showed that the peak dynamic splitting tensile stress increased linearly with the strain rate. The dynamic tensile stress history and fracture pattern exhibited a significant strain-rate dependence. In simulation, the strain-rate dependent on the critical energy release rate was introduced to predict the dynamic tensile behavior of the ZrB2-SiC ceramic. The numerical results were in good agreement with the experimental results, verifying the applicability of the peridynamic model. The maximum error of the peak dynamic splitting tensile stress between the experimental and numerical results was no greater than 6%. Moreover, the effect of the strain rate on the fracture patterns of the ZrB2-SiC ceramic composite can be well predicted by the peridynamics method. The ZrB2-SiC composite specimen split into two large fragments with additional small fragments under dynamic splitting tension. With the increase of strain rate, the main crack propagation and branching led to a larger fracture region in the middle of the specimen.

This paper shows the impact of material nonlinearity of a dam-foundation rock system on seismic performance of Oued Fodda concrete gravity dam, located at northwestern side of Algeria. For the purpose, a three-dimensional dam-foundation rock system finite element model is employed in analyses. The hydrodynamic interaction between reservoir water and dam-foundation system is implicitly taken into consideration by the Westergaard approach using surface finite elements added to dam-fluid and foundation-fluid interfaces. The concrete material model is used to present the cracking of dam concrete under a seismic load the using smeared crack approach based on the Willam and Warnke failure criterion. The materially nonlinear analysis for both dam concrete and foundation rock is performed using Drucker- -Prager model. According to numerical results, tensile stresses and maximum strains reduce significantly in the materially nonlinear model. In addition, the cracking areas in the dam decrease also when material nonlinearity characteristics of the dam-foundation rock system is considered in analyses.

Opis:
The paper presents two methods of solving the problem of the dynamics of a frame structure with viscoelastic bonds in nodes. In the first approach, known from the literature, two-node beam elements with three degrees of freedom in each node were used. Exact shape functions were adopted to obtain a stiffness matrix, a consistent mass matrix and a damping matrix for the beam element. These matrices were then modified by introducing rotational viscoelastic constraints at the boundary nodes. In the second approach, a new method of modelling viscoelastic bonds in frame structures was proposed. It consists in removing rigid bonds between elements along selected degrees of freedom and replacing them with a new, additional element with viscoelastic properties. This approach allows the use of any rheological model to describe viscoelastic bonds (i.e. an additional element) without the need to create a new modified finite element. In this work, an advanced rheological model, i.e. the fractional Kelvin model, was used to describe rotational viscoelastic bonds. The use of fractional derivatives to describe the damping properties reduces the number of parameters needed in the model, but leads to a non-linear eigenproblem. In order to solve the eigenvalue problem, the continuation method was used, and the dynamic characteristics of the structure were determined on the basis of the calculated eigenvalues. Selected structures with viscoelastic nodes were analyzed and the obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In such applications as in the case of feeders in which a slider-crank mechanism equipped with a rotational spring on its crank is driven by a constant force and a lumped mass at the crank-connecting rod joint center, the slider is required to take on desired speeds and displacements. For this purpose, after obtaining and solving the dynamic model of the slider-crank mechanism, the output of this model is subjected to a modified Hooke-Jeeves method resulting in the development of a procedure for the optimization of selected set of operating parameters. The basic contribution involved in the so-called Hooke-Jeeves method is the procedure by which a cost-effective advancement towards a target optimum point is accomplished in a very short time. A user-friendly interface has also been constructed to support this procedure. The optimization procedure has been illustrated on a numerical example. The validation of the resulting dynamic model has also been demonstrated.

Opis:
In this paper, a dynamic preventive maintenance strategy is proposed for the problem of high maintenance cost rate due to excessive maintenance caused by unreasonable maintenance threshold setting when complex electromechanical equipment maintenance strategy is formulated. Increasing failure rate factor and decreasing service age factor are introduced to describe the evolution rules of failure rate during the maintenance of the coating machine, and the BP-LSTM (BP-Long Short Term Memory Network, BP-LSTM) model is combined to predict the failure rate of the coating machine. A Dynamic preventive maintenance Model (DM) that relies on dynamic failure rate thresholds to classify the three preventive maintenance modes of minor, medium and major repairs is constructed. A dynamic preventive maintenance strategy optimization process based on Genetic-Particle Swarm Optimization (GPSO) algorithm with the lowest cost rate per unit time in service phase is built to solve the difficult problem of dynamic failure rate threshold finding. Based on the historical operating data of the coating machine, a case study of the dynamic preventive maintenance strategy of the coating machine was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the model and the developed maintenance strategy proposed in this paper. The results show that the maintenance strategy developed in this paper can ensure better economy and applicability.

Model został wykorzystany do opracowania praktycznego i łatwego w obsłudze arkusza obliczeniowego. Następnie przeprowadzono badania analityczne stateczności wybranego wozu wiercącego. Model obliczeniowy jak i arkusz kalkulacyjny stanowią podręczne narzędzie wykorzystywane podczas procesu projektowania przez jedną z polskich firm produkujących wozy wiercące.
Underground mining machines, such as wheel-tyre drilling rigs, are articulated and equipped with booms that project far beyond the undercarriage. Such a structure makes these machines prone to lose stability. Hence, it is necessary to analyse the distribution of masses and geometry as well as their broadly understood stability during the entire design process, taking into account many factors resulting from the manner and conditions of their operation. However, there are no ap-propriate computational models that would enable carrying out analytical tests for machines with this kind of construction. The article presents the author's support system which allows a quick assessment of the stability of single- and twin-boom drilling rigs. The model makes it possible to perform analyses without having to solve differential equations present in dynamic models or using model studies based on CAD/CAE tools. The developed computational model was verified by comparing the obtained results with the results of the full dynamic model, the results of model tests carried out in the CAD/CAE program and the results of empirical tests of wheel and jack pressures on the ground for the selected drilling rig. Based on the verification and validation of this model, it was found to be fully correct and useful. The model was used to prepare a practical and user-friendly calculation sheet. Next, analytical tests of the stability of the selected drilling rig were carried out. The computational model and the spreadsheet provide handy tools used during the design process by one of the Polish companies producing drilling rigs.

Opis:
In this article, the dynamic response of suction caisson foundations is studied using a three-dimensional finite element model with an absorbing boundary. The adopted formulation is based on the substructuring method. This formulation has been applied to analyze the effect of soil–structure interaction on the dynamic response of the suction foundation as a function of the kind of load. The suction caisson foundations are embedded in viscoelastic homogenous soils and subjected to external harmonic forces. For each frequency, the dynamic impedance connects the applied forces to the resulting displacement. The constitutive elements of the system are modeled using the finite element volumes and shell elements. The numerical results for the dynamic response of the suction foundations are presented in terms of vertical and horizontal displacements as well as vertical and horizontal dynamic impedances. The results indicated that the overall dynamic response is highly affected by the suction caisson diameter, the soil stiffness variation, and the suction caisson length.
