Wireless communication is a fundamental requirement because of its low cost, high flexibility and convenience, continuing improvements in speed and connectivity, and accessibility in remote areas. One example is very small aperture terminal (VSAT) communication. A VSAT is a two-way satellite ground station operating at C-band and Ku-band frequencies, with linear and circular polarization in the C band and linear polarization in the Ku band. For the data transmitted by a satellite to be utilized by a user, the antenna on the user side must have dual-wideband and dual-polarization characteristics. In this study, a dual-polarization planar dual-wideband antenna with dimensions of 30 x 39 x 1.52 mm3 was designed using a dual-port approach. The introduction of a slot and perturbation on the patch side results in the dual-wideband characteristics of the antenna. The introduction of slots into the antenna ground results in circular polarization. The proposed antenna has resonant frequencies of 3 - 15 GHz on port 1 and 3.31 – 7.79 GHz and 9.05 – 15 GHz on port 2, with circular polarization characteristics on port 1 and linear polarization characteristics on port 2. On port 1, the gains at frequencies of 4.2 GHz is 3.93 dB, while on port 2, the gains at frequencies of 3.9 GHz is 0.51 dB.

: The dual perspective model of agency and communion predicts that observers tend to interpret a target’s behavior more in terms of communion than agency, whereas actors interpret their behavior more in terms of agency. The present research for the first time tests this model in real interactions. Previously unacquainted participants had a short conversation and afterwards rated their own behavior (actor perspective) and their interaction partner’s behavior (observer perspective) in terms of agency(self-confident, assertive) and communion(trustworthy, empathic). Supporting the dual perspective model, observers rated the actor’s behavior higher on communion than on agency, and higher on communion than actors themselves did. Findings for actors were more complex: Actors rated their own behavior as more agentic than observers did. However, they also rated their behavior high on communion. We discuss implications for the dual perspective model as well as for (mis)understandings in social interactions.

Opis:
Development of assistive robots for helping the disabled is a field of research that has gathered attention recently. According to surveys, about one billion people in the world population have some kind of disability. Dual arm robots are a suitable solution for helping people with mobility impairments. The current development in the field of dual-arm robots is focused mainly in the industrial field to carry out cyclic tasks. This includes activities such as pick and place, assembling parts and doing other industrial operations. Unlike human arms, these dual arm robots lack versatility in doing a wide variety of tasks with adequate coordination between the arms. Due to these constraints, industrial dual arm robots cannot be directly implemented for assisting the disabled. This paper focuses on designing a compact dual arm robot which closely mimics human arms to do coordinated tasks with lesser Degrees of Freedom (DoF). Therefore, the developed robot extends its capabilities from industrial applications to daily life activities. Closed loop control is used in actuating the proposed 9 DoF dual arm robot with distinct DoF. Target position is acquired using image processing. Hand to hand coordination in various operations such as pick and place, transferring objects, serving food, etc. has successfully experimented.

The aim of this exploratory cross-sectional study was to examine the associations among relationship status, identity processes, and self-construals among Polish young adults. The theoretical framework of the study consisted of Erikson’s psychosocial theory of human development (Erikson, 1963; 1968; 1980), the dual-cycle model of identity formation (Luyckx, Goossens, & Soenens, 2006), and the concept of independent and interdependent self-construals. A total of 291 university students (155 females and 136 males) aged 20-25 completed the Dimensions of Identity Development Scale (DIDS; Luyckx, Schwartz et al., 2008) (Polish adaptation - Brzezińska & Piotrowski, 2010a) and Self-Construal Scale (SCS; Singelis, 1994) (Polish adaptation - Pilarska, 2014). Results showed that single individuals scored higher on exploration in breadth, exploration in depth, and ruminative exploration, and lower on commitment making and identification with commitment than did partnered individuals. Further, single and partnered individuals did not differ in the area of independent and interdependent self-construals. Discriminant function analysis revealed that especially ruminative exploration and exploration in breadth were important variables for discriminating single from partnered status.

Vertex colorings of the square of an outerplanar graph have received a lot of attention recently. In this article we prove that the chromatic number of the square of an outerplanar graph of maximum degree Δ = 6 is 7. The optimal upper bound for the chromatic number of the square of an outerplanar graph of maximum degree Δ ≠ 6 is known. Hence, this mentioned chromatic number of 7 is the last and only unknown upper bound of the chromatic number in terms of Δ.

CyberParks will be hybrid spaces of future cities. Learning in CyberParks will take the form of technology-enhanced outdoor learning and will become an important concept that can be used in practice in order to provide an answer to numerous problems of educational institutions, related to students’ lack of contact with nature and consolidation of their sedentary lifestyle. In this paper we discuss evidences from the CyberParks COST project and we present recommendations regarding the constructions of CyberParks. We point out, for example, that when designing CyberParks one has to think not only about the technological infrastructure, but also about making sitting spots for using learning technology. We also present the original project of such an object.

In this paper, we prove that the topological dual of the Banach space of bounded measurable functions with values in the space of nuclear operators, furnished with the natural topology, is isometrically isomorphic to the space of finitely additive linear operator-valued measures having bounded variation in a Banach space containing the space of bounded linear operators. This is then applied to a stochastic structural control problem. An optimal operator-valued measure, considered as the structural control, is to be chosen so as to minimize fluctuation (volatility). Both existence of optimal policy and necessary conditions of optimality are presented including a conceptual algorithm.

Let G be a 2-connected graph of order n. Suppose that for all 3-independent sets X in G, there exists a vertex u in X such that |N(X∖{u})|+d(u) ≥ n-1. Using the concept of dual closure, we prove that
1. G is hamiltonian if and only if its 0-dual closure is either complete or the cycle C₇
2. G is nonhamiltonian if and only if its 0-dual closure is either the graph $(K_r ∪ Kₛ ∪ Kₜ) ∨ K₂$, 1 ≤ r ≤ s ≤ t or the graph $((n+1)/2)K₁ ∨ K_{(n-1)/2}$.
It follows that it takes a polynomial time to check the hamiltonicity or the nonhamiltonicity of a graph satisfying the above condition. From this main result we derive a large number of extensions of previous sufficient conditions for hamiltonian graphs. All these results are sharp.

Given a 2-connected graph G on n vertices, let G* be its partially square graph, obtained by adding edges uv whenever the vertices u,v have a common neighbor x satisfying the condition $N_G(x) ⊆ N_G[u] ∪ N_G[v]$, where $N_G[x] = N_G(x) ∪ {x}$. In particular, this condition is satisfied if x does not center a claw (an induced $K_{1,3}$). Clearly G ⊆ G* ⊆ G², where G² is the square of G. For any independent triple X = {x,y,z} we define

Flandrin et al. proved that a 2-connected graph G is hamiltonian if [σ̅]₃(X) ≥ n holds for any independent triple X in G. Replacing X in G by X in the larger graph G*, Wu et al. improved recently this result. In this paper we characterize the nonhamiltonian 2-connected graphs G satisfying the condition [σ̅]₃(X) ≥ n-1 where X is independent in G*. Using the concept of dual closure we (i) give a short proof of the above results and (ii) we show that each graph G satisfying this condition is hamiltonian if and only if its dual closure does not belong to two well defined exceptional classes of graphs. This implies that it takes a polynomial time to check the nonhamiltonicity or the hamiltonicity of such G.

A detailed study about the suitable perturbation element shape and location for tunable BW dual mode microstrip filter which has circular ring resonator is presented. BW tuning is achieved by resonator geometry modification. The study explains the effect of a perturbation element on the stability of the center frequency during BW tuning. Different cases have been studied for two shapes of perturbation element; which one is a rectangular and the other is a radial. The treated cases discuss whether the perturbation element is located in the inner or in the outer circumference of the ring, and whether it is a patch or a notch. BW tuning simulation treated the case of FBW3dB increase for two and three times. The best case of perturbation element which has the best center frequency stability has been modeled, simulated, and fabricated at 2.4 GHz. Geometry modification of the filter took into account the RF MEMS modeling. The filter has an elliptic frequency response, and its FBW has been increased in five steps from 1.7% to 5%. The designed filters were evaluated experimentally and by simulation with very good agreement.

Zastosowanie gazu ziemnego do zasilania tłokowych silników spalinowych, zarówno o zapłonie iskrowym jak i samoczynnym, w ostatnich latach intensywnie wzrasta. Wynika to z wielu korzystnych właściwości tego paliwa, a przede wszystkim takich cech, dzięki którym wykorzystując gaz ziemny jako paliwo w transporcie można zmniejszyć szkodliwe oddziaływanie silników na środowisko. Poza tym gaz ziemny jest paliwem o większych zasobach niż ropa naftowa i bardziej dostępnym w wielu krajach. Niekwestionowaną zaletą są również mniejsze koszty jego wydobycia i przetwarzania, z czego wynika niższa cena zakupu tego paliwa. W artykule scharakteryzowano gaz ziemny jako paliwo do zasilania tłokowych silników spalinowych. Opisano stanowisko z silnikiem o zapłonie samoczynnym Perkins 1104D-E44TA wyposażonym w układ zasilania Common Rail, przystosowanym do dwupaliwowego zasilania olejem napędowym i gazem ziemnym. W artykule przedstawiono wstępne wyniki badań tego silnika oraz spostrzeżenia wynikające z ich analizy. Wykazano większe zużycie energii przy zasilaniu dwupaliwowym w porównaniu z zasilaniem silnika olejem napędowym. Stwierdzono konieczność prowadzenia dalszych prac mających na celu zwiększenie udziału gazu ziemnego w całkowitej ilości spalanego paliwa oraz poprawę efektywności jego spalania.
Using natural gas for fuelling piston combustion engines, both petrol and diesel ones, has been increasing rapidly over the recent years, being the outcome of numerous advantageous properties of this fuel, above all else these, which allow to reduce the harmful impact of engines on natural environment. In addition, natural gas resources are larger that those of oil and more accessible in many regions. The undisputed superiority of this fuel is the lower cost of its mining and processing, which translates into lower prices. The paper characterises natural gas as a fuel for piston combustion engines. It also includes a description of a station with the Perkins 1104D-E44TA diesel engine equipped with the Common Rail fuel system, adopted for feeding both diesel fuel and natural gas. A higher consumption of energy by the engine fed by both fuels has been demonstrated when compared with feeding diesel fuel only. Further works for increasing the proportion of natural gas in the total amount of the consumed fuel as well as improving efficiency of its combustion are deemed necessary.

In order to meet the operation requirements of the beam supply with multi-working conditions, multi-modes and high efficiency, a dual-mode hybrid output control method combining phase-shifting and pulse-width dual-mode modulation technology with secondary side series-parallel operation is proposed. In this paper, the structure and working mode of the new dual full-bridge topology are firstly analyzed. Secondly, the main circuit parameters are designed according to the power performance indicators, and the losses under two control modes of phase shift and pulse width are calculated. Finally, comparing the losses of these two control methods, and combining the series-parallel operation mode of the secondary side of the transformer, a dual-mode switching control method of the beam supply is designed. In order to verify the rationality of the dual-mode mixed output control method, a principle prototype with a rated capacity of 2 kW, a rated voltage of 1 800 V and a switching frequency of 50 kHz was used for verification. Experiments show the effectiveness and superiority of the dual-mode hybrid output control method.

In this paper a new approach is explained for solving intuitionistic dual fuzzy fractional nonlinear equations. Here we have suggested a numerical method for solving a dual fuzzy nonlinear fractional equations instead of standard analytical techniques which are not suitable everywhere. Initially we wrote a dual fuzzy non-linear fractional equations in parametric form and then solve it by iterative method. An illustrative example is given to show the efficiency of our approach.
