Opis:
Today, parents make use of social media accounts for many different purposes, such as obtaining information, giving advice, receiving support, and exchanging ideas with other parents. In parallel with the use of social media, according to their parenting roles, individuals frequently share various content related to both their own daily practices and the development processes of their children. The fact that most of the content shared is about children raises the question of digital privacy in this context. Based on this focus, this research aims to determine the priorities attached by the parents when they share content about children on their social media accounts, and what kind of measures they take in sharing this content to protect the digital privacy of their children. Therefore, a questionnaire based quantitative field study was carried out within the scope of this research. As a result of the study, it was found that parents primarily prefer sharing special occasions with their children, family photographs and photographs of their children at early ages; if the child is at a later age, they tend to consult him/her before sharing the content, but they do not tend to pay enough attention to ensuring that the child's identity is kept confidential and sharing of personal information is avoided.

Opis:
Our research note reports the results of a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the pilot edition of the Coding Masters Junior program, conducted in 2015 by Centrum Cyfrowe: Projekt Polska. It focuses on the results of a semantic analysis for the keyword “tablet” of the IDIs conducted with parents of preschoolers. The analysis has shown, among others, that in many households tablet is seen as belonging to the domain of the child, its property (toy). At the same time, quantitative research reveals that in 26% of tablet-owning households the device is not made available to the child. This strong polarization of practices shows that tablets remain a terra incognita to a significant group of parents, one they often have no wish to explore.

Opis:
Research on parental mediation of children’s online engagements situate historically longstanding anxieties within the dynamics of present-day information communications technologies (i.e., concerns over new “cyber risks,” as well as opportunities). Yet, there remains a lack of emphasis on children’s reactions to and experiences with parental strategies and responses. In the current article, we highlight research involving semi-structured focus groups (n=35) with Canadian teenagers (n=115). We highlight themes directly related to parental digital mediation, including the role of ICTs in driving addictive behaviors, social connection, differences in parental responses between sons and daughters, and differences concerning age and birth order. Disrupting cultural discourses of young people who lack agency in relation to their use of ICTs, our discussions with teens reveal qualified support, even degrees of sympathy, for parental efforts to restrict access and use of digital technologies, but illuminate multifaceted reasons for resistance: their vital role not only for social connection but access to crucial information and knowledge.

Opis:
The scope of the article is to discuss the issue of the parents sharing the information about their children in social media. Basing on literature and researches review, the scale of sharenting phenomenon was introduced. Its different types were discussed and its chosen legal, ethical and social aspects were characterized. The risks (i.e. identity theft and exposing children to cyberviolence) and rewards (i.e. sharing the experience, seeking and providing support) of such parents’ activity in the Internet were presented as well. Sharenting generates dilemmas connected with finding the balance between the parents’ right to express freely and the child’s right to have privacy, dignity and identity. There is a need of educational actions, directed to both parents and society, about the children’s security and safety of their privacy in the Internet.
