Opis:
Japanese government internationalisation initiatives in recent years have aimed to create undergraduate courses that nurture “global human resources”. These initiatives involve objectives associated with developing skills, attitudes, and knowledge related to foreign language skills and intercultural understanding. However, educators at Japanese universities responsible for their development and implementation often lack adequate guidance to achieve such objectives. To address this gap, the author employed an interdisciplinary approach to establish a framework for cultivating global human resources, by means of a qualitative inquiry involving visual and narrative methods carried out over a one-semester period. The study's results emphasise the transformative and personal relationships that learners establish when engaging in the development of global human resources, a perspective that is mostly absent in the intercultural competence literature. Moreover, this study underlines the importance of producing and implementing interdisciplinary educational solutions that encourage university students to become personally invested in developing global human resources, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.

Academicus challenged the concept of the “privilege of some”3, gained by the conformity with cliches and any validation system, converted into status and access, that created a rigid stratifcation very hard to surpass from “new entries”, people and nations, not labeled as source of excellence. By welcoming researchers, authors and works with distinctive novelty and scientifc pursue, the journal tried to bring also glimpses of something rare in the today's research methodology, abductive reasoning, even if it is of a probable scientifc influence, but very important, as it is the product of a conscious mind enhanced by experience.

Purpose – Sustainability is viewed as an encompassing perspective, as endorsed by the international policy context, driven by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We aim to examine how women entrepreneurs transform capitals to pursue sustainability, and to generate policy insights for sustainability actions through tourism entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach – Applying qualitative approach, we have generated empirical evidence drawing on 37 qualitative interviews carried out in Turkey, whereby boundaries between traditional patriarchal forces and progressive movements in gender relations are blurred. Findings – We have generated insights into how women entrepreneurs develop their sustainability practice by transforming their available economic, cultural, social and symbolic capitals in interpreting the macro-field and by developing navigation strategies to pursue sustainability. This transformative process demonstrates how gender roles were performed and negotiated in serving for sustainability pillars. Research limitations/implications – In this paper, we demonstrate the nature and instrumentality of sustainable tourism entrepreneurship through a gender lens in addressing some of these SDG-driven challenges. Originality/value – We advance the scholarly and policy debates by bringing gender issues to the forefront, discussing sustainable tourism initiatives from the viewpoint of entrepreneurs and various members of local community and stakeholder in a developing country context where women’s solidarity becomes crucial.

The paper examines the intricate relationship between armed conflict and regional integration, focusing on its role as an ‘undoing’ force in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) context. A significant element of development and economic cooperation in Africa is the perennial problem of violent conflict in almost all sub-regions. Moreover, organized crime is rising across the continent, coupled with the emergence of new forms of violence associated with today’s globalization and other post-Cold War phenomena. Globalization has led to greater interdependence among countries and fostered cooperation among states. However, a country’s internal conflict often has repercussions beyond its borders and threatens regional and global peace and stability. In addition, armed conflict can affect countries’ relations and state cooperation. Peace provides a good foundation for development and economic cooperation, while development ensures the permanence of peace. The central question addressed in this paper is whether constructive regional economic integration and cooperation can be effectively achieved while some African countries are experiencing armed conflict. A qualitative research approach is used to analyze how armed conflict will likely negatively impact the achievement of AfCFTA goals.

Artykuł poświęcony jest zagadnieniu oceny podsystemu składniowego u dzieci dwu- i wielojęzycznych. Przedstawiony w nim został krótki przegląd narzędzi umożliwiających zbadanie kompetencji składniowych wraz z wyjaśnieniem, które elementy składni zostały w nich uwzględnione. Przegląd ten jest wprowadzeniem do zaprezentowania narzędzia stworzonego na potrzeby badań własnych poświęconych rozwojowi podsystemu składniowego u dzieci dwu- i wielojęzycznych w wieku 6-9 lat. W tekście omówione zostały kryteria doboru czasowników do procedury badawczej, a także sposób ich badania. Zostały również pokazane mocne i słabe strony zastosowanej procedury badawczej oraz sposób, w jaki takie badanie pozwoli na przeanalizowanie wybranych zagadnień z zakresu rozwoju podsystemu składniowego badanych dzieci.
The paper describes the evaluation of the syntactic subsystem in bilingual and multilingual children. It provides a brief overview of tools designed to assess the syntactic competence in Polish-speaking children, and specifies the syntactic elements that that tools take into account. Subsequently, the author introduces a tool she has elaborated in order to study the syntactic subsystem development in bilingual and multilingual children aged 6-9. The criteria for selecting verbs for the procedure as well as the research method are discussed. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the designed procedure are presented, as well as the ways it could prove useful in studying selected phenomena of syntactic subsystem development in children.

Kiedy w odniesieniu do planowania przestrzennego mowa o „zrównoważonym rozwoju” czy „bezpieczeństwie”, istnieje ryzyko bardzo ogólnikowego traktowania wartości, które reprezentują. Potrzebne jest skonkretyzowanie tych pojęć, aby w kolejnym kroku zidentyfikować wartości w nich zakodowane. To prowadzi do oznaczenia konfliktów pomiędzy wartościami, które ma chronić plan, oraz zmusza do dokonania wyboru mechanizmu ich rozstrzygania. Takim mechanizmem jest zasada proporcjonalności. Następnym krokiem jest przyjęcie określonego modelu zarządzania danym terenem, inkorporowanego w miejscowym planie zagospodarowania przestrzennego. W omawianym przypadku jest to zarządzanie procesowe. Miejscowy plan musi być konkretny, musi spełniać wymogi prawne stawiane aktom prawa, a co najtrudniejsze, swoją treścią musi dowodzić, że kryteria jego jakości zostały spełnione oraz że jest kompletny: uwzględnia wszystkie wartości, które ma chronić, i odpowiednio porządkuje relacje między nimi.
When you use the concept of “sustainable development” or “security” in reference to spatial planning there is a risk of treating the values they represent in terms of generalities. It is necessary to make these concepts more specific in order to identify the values encoded in them. This results in the specification of conflicts among the values that should be protected by the spatial development plan and forces the choice of an instrument for resolving them. The abovementioned instrument is the rule of proportionality. The next step is to implement a model of management of the space in the spatial development plan. In the discussed case it is process management. The spatial development plan has to be specific, has to fulfil legal conditions for the legal act and – the most difficult – must prove that the quality criteria are fulfilled and that it is complete, involving all values that it should protect and respecting the relations among them.

The article explores issues pertinent to the formal and semantic assessment of statements made by early school-age children of Ukrainian and Russian origin, who have been raised in Poland for at least a year and are enrolled in Polish schools. This matter has gained relevance due to the increasing influx of foreign language-speaking children in Poland, who are accommodated in Polish-language schools and psychological-educational counselling centres. However, teachers and specialists often grapple with assessing these children’s language skills and identifying which speech development abnormalities should raise concern. In the first section, the benefits of examining the syntactic subsystem are detailed, and a method designed by the author for scrutinizing this subsystem is introduced. The second section presents an analysis of the individual sentences gathered during the research, particularly those used in describing situational images crafted expressly for the study. This analysis adheres to structuralist principles. Special focus is directed towards utterances that were deemed incorrect due to real-textual or formal reasons. Statements exhibiting clear language mixing and interference are emphasized as well. From the analysis of this section of the data, the stages of sentence construction where difficulties were most prevalent are identified, and the most common errors are discussed.
Dieser Beitrag ist den Fragen gewidmet, die mit der formal-semantischen Bewertung der Aussagen von Kindern ukrainischer und russischer Herkunft in den frühen Schuljahren verbunden sind, die mindestens ein Jahr in Polen gelebt haben und eine polnische Schule besuchen. Aufgrund der immer weiter zunehmenden Anzahl von fremdsprachigen Kindern, die nach Polen kommen, ist das Thema sehr aktuell. Diese Kinder werden in polnischen Schulen und psychologisch-pädagogischen Beratungsstellen betreut. Lehrer und Fachleute wissen jedoch oft nicht, wie sie die Sprachkenntnisse der Kinder am besten bewerten können, und welche sprachlichen Unregelmäßigkeiten als alarmierend angesehen werden sollten. Im ersten Teil des Beitrags werden die Vorteile beschrieben, die aus Untersuchungen des syntaktischen Subsystems hervorgehen. Der zweite Teil beinhaltet die Analyse von einfachen Sätzen, die durch die Beschreibung von Situationen gesammelt werden. Im Fokus der Analyse stehen die Sätze, die aus semantischen oder formalen Gründen als inkorrekt gelten. Die Aussagen, die offensichtliches Code-Switching oder Interferenzen aufweisen, werden ebenfalls unterschieden. Anhand des analysierten Teils des gesammelten Materials wird dargestellt, in welchem Stadium des Syntaxaufbaus die meisten Probleme auftreten, und die am häufigsten auftretenden Fehler werden besprochen. Auch die möglichen Ursachen der von den Kindern gemachten Fehler werden präsentiert. Am Ende des Beitrags werden die Schlussfolgerungen dargestellt, die sich aus der Analyse des Sprachmaterials ergeben.

Research background: Despite the increased interest in business model innovation (BMI) in the last 20 years, the current research landscape still lacks empirical efforts aimed at investigating the underexplored link between BMI and innovation performance. This is doubly true in specific contexts like Central European countries, whereas innovation systems are weaker than in Western ones, and firms strongly depend on internal R&D activities and absorptive capacity and technology upgrades via cooperation with other countries. Purpose of the article: This study draws on the BMI theory with the aim of analyzing the effects of each individual BMI element on firms’ performance in terms of creation of radical innovations vs incremental ones. Methods: The data used are from the Community Innovation Survey (CIS) 2018 — the latest micro data available to date — focusing on 16,364 firms in Central Europe, namely 5,749 Czech, 7,377 Hungarian, and 3,238 Slovakian firms. As the explained (dependent) variables are dichotomous (binary: 1 indicates the answer is yes, 0 indicates the answer is no) for all estimated models, a binary logistic regression is used in order to focus on the individual elements representing BMI and analyse their separated effects on firms’ creation of radical and incremental innovations in Central Europe. Individual BMI elements are: BMI methods, logistics, communication, accounting, external relations, human resource management, and marketing. Moreover, we check for control variables such as tax credits and allowances of R&D, public funding of innovation, cooperation with other organizations on R&D or other activities, in-house R&D activities and contracted out ones, lack of finance, lack of skilled employees and internal financial resources, and size. Findings & value added: For radical innovators, practices for organising procedures and external relations are important. For incremental innovators, methods of organising work responsibility, decision making, and human resource management are significant. Surprisingly, regardless of the innovation radicality, several BMI elements are significant. This study suggests that managers should enhance strategic collaborations with external partners out of Central Europe, exploit their absorptive capacity, and increase the knowledge and experience of their employees, whilst policymakers should keep on providing tax credits and allowances for innovation activities, maintaining a supportive infrastructure and reducing administrative burdens.

On the one hand, the number of individuals with excess body weight is increasing, while on the other, the issue of malnutrition among adolescents is becoming increasingly noticeable. Aim: To determine differences in the magnitude of secular trends in height and body mass, BMI, and the occurrence of underweight, normal weight-to-height proportions, overweight, and obesity in adolescents. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted from 2006 to 2021. Height and body mass were measured, and BMI was calculated. The results were statistically analyzed. Results: In the examined girls and boys in the decade from 2006 to 2016, a slowdown in height growth and slight positive changes in body mass and BMI were observed. The results from 2016 to 2021 confirmed a continued trend of increasing somatic characteristics, mainly body mass. Considering the BMI value in both observation periods, a slight decrease in the frequency of underweight and normal BMI was noted in all groups, while a significant increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity was observed. Conclusions: The temporal trends presented in this study emphasize the need for regular monitoring of the development of adolescents in eastern Poland, as well as the implementation of proactive public health strategies.

Opis:
Sharenting, as a phenomenon involving parents sharing their child's image on social media, is becoming increasingly prevalent in Poland and around the world. More and more children have their first digital footprint before birth or before turning 6 months old. Many parents see no harm in showcasing the image and data related to their child on the internet. In this context, it is important to draw attention to the potential consequences and threats associated with publicizing photos and posts related to children. This article attempts to present the phenomenon of sharenting among Polish parents and the potential risks associated with it. It is based on research conducted in 2023 on a sample of 80 posts shared by parents on Instagram and Facebook, as well as an analysis of available research results on sharenting and the resulting threats. In the article, by showcasing various aspects of a child's life and functioning displayed on social media by Polish parents, we aim to indicate how sharing a child's image can pose a threat to their physical and psychological well-being.

Research background: Corporate sustainable development (CSD) is essential to a company's success and survival. Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) are regarded as major factors in measuring the impact of CSD. Companies that perform well in terms of ESG can maintain a competitive advantage and achieve sustainable development. Poor management of ESG performance and involvement in controversial activity can harm a company's credibility and reputation in the market, as well as negatively impact sustainable development. Purpose of the article: Drawing on the stakeholder and signaling theories, this paper investigates the curvilinear nexus between ESG performance and CSD. Methods: Empirical studies were conducted on a sample of 697 Chinese listed manufacturing firms that disclosed ESG information from 2010 to 2020, with a total of 5699 firm-year observations. Quantile regression analysis and the U-test were used to examine the curvilinear ESG-CSD relationship. This technique was supplemented by conducting instrumental variables tests and propensity score matching to address concerns relating to the potential existence of endogeneity problems. Findings & value added: The results of the quantile regression estimation confirm the concave-convex (inverted U-shaped and U-shaped) ESG-CSD relationship via the U-test. The relationships between the environmental and social components and CSD follow an inverted U-shaped or half-inverted U-shaped pattern, while the relationship between the governance component and CSD exhibits a concave-convex pattern. A concave ESG-CSD nexus is evident in environmentally sensitive industries, whereas a half concave-convex ESG-CSD nexus is confirmed in non-environmentally sensitive industries. This study improves scholars’ understanding of ESG performance and provides a comprehensive perspective on the double-edged effects (positive and negative consequences) of ESG practices. The instrumentalization of ESG practices for management to seek personal gain has a negative impact on CSD, while ESG practices that add value for stakeholders have a positive impact. These findings provide empirical evidence for Chinese publicly listed manufacturing firms to effectively conduct ESG practices.

W opracowaniu prezentuję proces logopedycznej diagnozy przeprowadzony u dziewięcioletniego chłopca z zespołem padaczkowym Landaua- Kleffnera. Jego celem było sformułowanie rozpoznania nieprawidłowości obserwowanych u dziecka. Podjęte działania miały charakter kliniczny. Polegały one przede wszystkim na  rejestracji charakterystycznych zachowań werbalnych i pozajęzykowych dziecka oraz ustaleniu podstaw biopsychicznych  rozwoju jego mowy. Przeprowadzone próby przyjęły formę badania całościowego i zostały opisane w sposób jakościowy. W procesie precyzowania diagnozy podjęto również próbę oceny poziomu kompetencji językowej dziecka w sposób ilościowy przy użyciu Testu Rozwoju Językowego - TRJ. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na sformułowanie refleksji dotyczącej zastosowanych w diagnozie narzędzi.
In this study, I present the process of speech therapy diagnosis carried out in a nine-year-old boy with Landau-Kleffner epilepsy syndrome. Its aim was to formulate a diagnosis of abnormalities observed in the child. The actions taken were of a clinical nature. They consisted primarily in recording the child's characteristic verbal and non-linguistic behaviors and establishing the biopsychological basis for the development of his speech. The tests carried out took the form of a comprehensive study and were described in a qualitative manner. In the process of specifying the diagnosis, an attempt was also made to assess the child's level of language competence in a quantitative manner using the Language Development Test - TRJ. The obtained results allowed for the formulation of a reflection on the tools used in the diagnosis.

This paper presents the methodological approach and results of the European project LSP-Teacher Training Summer School (TRAILs), which aims to develop an innovative LSP teacher training. The training curriculum developed in 2018–2020 and tested in 2021, emerged as a result of identified gaps between existing and required LSP teacher education. The following contribution intends to present the methodical way to identify these gaps. It starts from an analysis of the existing training programmes in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Then, the needs of the LSP teacher in tertiary education are discussed. Finally, a scheme is discussed according to which the comparison between the ACTUAL STATE and the TARGET STATE was made. The discrepancies demonstrated between the LSP teacher training and the actual training needs stated by LSP teachers participating in the project make it possible to define areas of LSP teaching which can be supplemented with concrete contents and activities. They then serve as a starting point for the development of an initial and in-service training curriculum for experienced and pre-service LSP teachers. The scheme presented is universal and can also be transferred to other research projects that aim to update the existing training curricula or introduce new solutions.
In dem Beitrag werden die methodische Herangehensweise und die Teilergebnisse des europäischen Projekts „LSP-Teacher Training Summer School“ (TRAILs)1 vorgestellt, das darauf abzielt, ein innovatives Lehrerausbildungscurriculum im Bereich Fachsprachen zu entwickeln. Das 2018–2020 erarbeitete und 2021 getestete Curriculum zur fachsprachlichen Lehrerausbildung entstand als Resultat der festgestellten Lücken zwischen der bestehenden und der erforderlichen Fach(fremd) sprachen-ehrerausbildung. Mit dem folgenden Beitrag wird beabsichtigt, den methodischen Weg zur Identifizierung dieser Lücken darzustellen. Ausgegangen wird von der Analyse der bestehenden Ausbildungsprogramme im Europäischen Hochschulraum (EHEA). Anschließend werden die Bedürfnisse der Fachsprachenlehrkraft im tertiären Bildungsbereich behandelt, die infolge einer umfassenden Umfrage unter der Fachsprachenlehrenden in Europa erzielt wurden. Abschließend wird ein Schema besprochen, nach dem der Vergleich zwischen dem IST-ZUSTAND und dem SOLLZUSTAND erfolgte. Die nachgewiesenen Diskrepanzen zwischen der untersuchten Lehrerausbildung im Bereich der Fachsprachendidaktik und den von der Fachsprachenlehrkraft genannten Ausbildungsbedürfnissen ermöglichen, Bereiche der fachbezogenen Fremdsprachendidaktik festzulegen, die mit konkreten Inhalten und Aktivitäten ergänzt werden. Sie dienen dann als Ausgangspunkt für die Erarbeitung eines Aus- und Fortbildungslehrplans für erfahrene und angehende Fachsprachenlehrende. Das präsentierte Schema ist universal und kann auch auf andere Forschungsvorhaben übertragen werden, die die Aktualisierung und Modernisierung der bestehenden Ausbildungslehrpläne bzw. Einführung eines neuen zum Ziel haben.

Research objectives (aims) and problem(s): The article presents the results of research on the development of students’ reflective thinking. The purpose of the research was to determine the level of students’ reflexivity when they began participating in a tutoring project, and then to verify it after the project ended. Research methods: The first phase of research was conducted in October 2020. Two groups of students took part in the research: those undergoing tutoring (n = 70) and those not undergoing tutoring (n = 77). The tool used was the Polish adaptation of the Reflective Thinking Questionnaire. The four scales of the questionnaire are habitual action, understanding, reflection and critical reflection. The research – in the same groups – was repeated in 2023. Structure of the article: The article has a classic layout. First, the concepts of tutoring and reflectivity in education are presented. Then the research method and results are presented. Research findings and their impact on the development of educational sciences: The importance of the tutoring method for the development of reflexivity was recognised by analysing the results of both the tutored and non-tutored groups. The tutored group developed in terms of reflexivity and critical reflection, but also in habitual action. Students who did not participate in tutoring did not make such progress. The research also established relationships between other educational and sociocultural variables and students’ levels of reflexivity. Academic performance, knowledge of foreign languages and parents’ education were taken into account. Conclusions and/or recommendations: The research made it possible to better identify the attributes of the most talented students, and to further identify possible opportunities for their development. An additional added value of this study is that the participants will be better able to understand themselves in terms of development. Those from the tutoring group were especially interested in their individual results.

Tytułowy dokument poza prezentacją rzetelnych badań przekonuje do solidarności oraz jednoczenia sił lokalnych i międzynarodowych na rzecz ochrony środowiska i dzieci w nim się wychowujących. Ramy czasowe przeprowadzają czytelnika od świata w stanie odziedziczonym do przyszłości. Tylko od człowieka, solidarności międzynarodowej zależy stan środowiska.
The UNICEF report has educational value and is a resource of knowledge about the environmental conditions in which children worldwide live and develop. Childhood in the Anthropocene is not idyllic. Poverty, ecological threats and climate changes adversely affect the development and physical and mental health of the youngest generation. Apart from presenting reliable research, the title document argues for solidarity and uniting local and international forces to protect the environment and children growing up in it. The time frame takes the reader from the inherited world to the future. The state of the environment depends only on man and international solidarity.
