The paper presents the theoretical foundations and the formal notation of Activity-Based Costing (ABC) as well as a case study of its pilot implementation in one of the dean’s offices of Wroclaw University of Technology. It indicates the advantages related to the application of Activity- Based Costing at universities, simultaneously drawing attention to the problems and costs involved.

W 2018 r. powstało Stowarzyszenie Forum Dziekanatów, którego jednym z celów jest włączenie się w dialog z organizacjami i instytucjami zajmującymi się szkolnictwem wyższym, a zwłaszcza MNiSW jako właściwym organem administracji publicznej. W tym celu Stowarzyszenie sformułowało trzy propozycje zmian w usta wie Prawo o szkolnictwie wyższym i nauce w kontekście postępowania administracyjnego, w szczególności: zawiadomienia o wszczęciu postępowania, postępowania uproszczonego oraz milczącego załatwienia sprawy, które zostały przekazane do MNiSW. Powstanie Stowarzyszenia jako oddolnej inicjatywy pracowników dziekanatów szkół wyższych oraz innych osób zajmujących się obsługą toku studiów dało im możliwość uczestniczenia w konsultacji w zakresie prawa o szkolnictwie wyższym oraz formułowania postulatów jego zmiany. Jest to szczególnie istotne, biorąc pod uwagę, że na uczelniach pracownicy dziekanatów nie mają możliwości przekazania informacji zwrotnej na temat przepisów, które wykonują.
In 2018 Student Services Employee Association (Stowarzyszenie Forum Dzieka na-tów) was established. One of its aims is to get involved in a dialogue with organi-sations and institutions dealing with higher education, in particular with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as the relevant public authority. In this regard the Association proposed three amendments to the Act of Higher Education and Science in terms of administrative procedure, in particular: notice on initiation of procedure, simplified procedure and silent settlement of case, which were sub-mitted to the Ministry. As a bottom-up initiative of student services employees at HEIs, it enables them to get involved in consulting acts on higher education and proposing amendments to these regulations. This role of the Association is significant due to the fact that in many HEIs student services employees have no ability to provide feedback on the regulations that they are executing.

Being in charge of the deanery clergy, deans kept documentation which was stored in the dean’s archive. In the following article the records of the deanery of Brzeziny (in the 19th century this deanery was in the diocese of Kujawy-Kalisz) are presented as an example of usefulness of this kind of documentation for research. The bishop’s and consistory’s documentation suffered some losses in wars so the diocese government orders included in the dean’s records allow to complete these missing parts. The dean’s records contain information on the deanery clergy, the congregation and church property in a deanery; as well as some cartographic and typonymic documentation. The dean’s correspondence includes letters from the local secular and church institutions. Taking all these facts into consideration, it must be stated that the dean’s records are of great importance to the history of a given region.

This paper presents the work of three artists who stay in an astonishing kind of relationship: they are interconnected through a dialogue based on unbelievable coincidences. As marked in the title, the paper first touches upon the outstanding collection by W. G. Sebald, consisting of four books − exceptional narratives with photographs used to give credibility to his fictional stories. The series comprises the following titles: Vertigo (1990), The Emigrants (1992), The Rings of Saturn (1995) and Austerlitz (2001). Tacita Dean, who makes reference to the experiences and the artistic workshop of Sebald, Beyeus and Aby Warburg, sets up a continuum – an analogous form of continuity between the “German emigrant” and Cy Twombly – an artist whose presence in his own work is more than obvious. These artistic bonds and the deep relationship obtaining between the three figures help the reader discern their incessant search for an answer to the crucial question: Who am I?

In the Old Polish period, deans did not receive any special remuneration for the functions they performed. Dean’s salary was introduced by the countries which conducted the partitions of Poland. In the nineteenth century, it became a tool for subordination of the clergy to secular authorities. Financial dependence of the church hierarchy, including deans, contributed to the fact that they became dependant on state administration. Salaries varied and depended on the size of the deanery (the number of parishes). In the first half of the nineteenth century, better-paid deans earned as much as an elementary school teacher. Nevertheless, the dean usually accumulated several prebendaries and posts which provided additional income, often many times greater than dean’s salary.

Początki Skrzatusza sięgają XV w. Parafia straciła swoją samodzielność w czasach reformacji w XVI w. Ponowne kanoniczne erygowanie nastąpiło w 1660 r. W 1772 r. włączony do państwa pruskiego. Wraca do Polski po zakończeniu II wojny światowej w 1945 r. Bp Ignacy Jeż po utworzeniu diecezji koszalińsko-kołobrzeskiej ogłosił Skrzatusz diecezjalnym sanktuarium, gdzie czci się nieprzerwanie Cudowną Pietę od końca XVI w. Na zlecenie biskupów lub archidiakonów dziekani w diecezji poznańskiej zobowiązani byli do przeprowadzenia w ich imieniu wizytacji dekanalnych. W XIX w. konsystorz zatwierdzał kolejne formularze, którymi posługiwali się dziekani. Takim przykładem jest prezentowana wizytacja z 1831 r. Przeprowadził ją na polecenie arcybiskupa poznańskiego dziekan wałecki Antoni Perzyński. W dokumencie scharakteryzował stan materialny i duchowy parafii. Wyróżnił w protokole również kościół filialny, szkoły i szpital parafialny.
The beginnings of Skrzatusz date back to the 15th century. The parish lost its independence during the Reformation in the 16th century. The canonical erection took place in 1660. In 1772 it was incorporated into the Prussian state. He returns to Poland after the end of World War II in 1945. Bishop Ignacy Jeż, after the creation of the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese, proclaimed Skrzatusz a diocesan sanctuary, where the Miraculous Pieta is continuously worshiped since the end of the 16th century. carrying out decanal visits on their behalf. In the 19th century, the consistory approved subsequent forms used by deans. Such an example is the presented visit from 1831. It was carried out by the dean of Walcz (Wałcz), Antoni Perzyński, on the order of the Archbishop of Poznan (Poznań). In the document, he characterized the material and spiritual condition of the parish. He also distinguished in the protocol the branch church, schools and the parish hospital.

The administrative proceeding in the matter of the declaration of the nullity of sacred ordination is currently regulated by Regulae servandae instruction of 16 October 2001 issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, which since 1 October 2011 has been applied in accordance with the changes introduced by Pope Benedict XV in the motu proprio Querit semper of 30 August 2011. This instruction replaced the previous Regulae servandae issued on 9 June 1931 by the Congregation for the Discipline of the Sacraments. The whole procedure consists of two stages: the case instruction, conducted by an ordinary authorized by the head of the Administrative Office of the Roman Rota (here the dean of the Roman Rota) and the legal decision of the case (in the competences of the Office). The studied regulations, adjusted to the Canon Law Code of 1983, guarantee protection of the rights of the priest who lodged a claim concerning declaration the nullity of sacred ordination and lead to forming moral certainty by the commissioners and the dean of the Roman Rota while dealing with the case. Efficient case instruction is possible due to the ordinary and instructor eligibility regarding designation of clerks and assistants as well as dispensing with the procedure when it is demanded by a rightful cause. Another factor is the ordinary’s liability to watch over the observance of the law and application of the prescribed norms.

W artykule zostały zanalizowane protokoły wizytacji dekanatu bobowskiego przez dziekana, ks. Stanisława Baniaka. Dzięki szczegółowemu przebadaniu materiału źródłowego udało się ustalić, że 14 świątyń parafialnych oraz kościół filialny w omawianym okresie posiadało organy lub pozytyw. Były to instrumenty niewielkie (5-14 głosów), spośród których co najmniej dziesięć było zlokalizowanych na chórze muzycznym. Stan zachowania był zadowalający, a tam gdzie instrument miał poważniejszy defekt, dokonywano potrzebnych remontów lub wymian, które również zostały scharakteryzowane.
The article examines the visitation protocols of Bobowa deanery by the dean Stanislaw Baniak. As a result of detailed analysis of the source material has been determined that 14 parish temples and one branch church, in this period had organ or positive. They were small instruments (5–14 voices), of which at least 10 were located at the musical choir. Their condition was rewarding and if the instrument had a serious defect, there were made necessary repairs or replacements, which have also been characterized.

According to a popular view science and theology are incompatible: non-overlapping magisteria, in terms of the object of their pursuit. In this paper I will argue that the relation which exists between science and theology is neither that of separation nor local explication but the complete inclusion of one within the other. From the point of view of religion, namely, science in fact is contained in a broadly understood theology. This claim counters the common view that science and theology are concerned with different ontological orders: the natural and the supernatural. From the Christian point of view there is no question of there being any different orders. There is one order: God made Heaven and Earth, including all things on Earth and all the laws which govern them; thus natural sciences, as concerning some of the God’s creatures, are subsumed under theology. It doesn’t yield anything like the subservience of natural sciences to theological dictates, though. The scientific methods of studying the world are the product of our efforts, and the proposition that the world was created by God, or that it wasn’t, does not change anything. Sciences have no bearing on what was revealed. Yet if we are to follow the teachings of Revelation as regards how to act and what not to do, we would need knowledge – in matters of physics, psychology and biology – about the mechanisms which we, as biological organisms, rely on for our natural behaviour. To this extent theology should be interested in studying the actual biological, cultural and social determinants of man’s existence so that he could make the most of the favoring circumstances while guarding against circumstances which conspire against him. Theology asks these questions of science, and if it wants to be rational, it should respect the answers, whatever they may be. The relation holds in one direction: science says how things are; theology takes it on board and tries to work out how to use it to aid in the understanding of Revelation. Telling science what theology would like to hear is devoid of purpose. There are no good or bad answers. As the illustration I discuss the so called ‘God gene’ hypothesis (Dean Hammer), ‘Libet’s effect’ (Benjamin Libet) and innate moral sense (Marc Hauser) showing how theology can gain inspiration from proper acknowledgement of such phenomena.

The text makes up the second part of the paper presented in the previous issue of ‘Quart’ quarterly. While there the usage of alabaster in the sculpture of the 1st half of the 20th century has been demonstrated, in the current issue the development in the following decades of the 20th century as well as of the early 21st century has been sketched. In the opening part of the paper it has been emphasised that in the time when countless new materials have been introduced into the fine arts and the borders between art genres became vague, alabaster was even more marginalised. Although it did not disappear for good, it had to compete with synthetic materials as polyester, in which comparable effects could have been achieved but they had advantage over traditional materials as they were easier to work with and cheaper. The case of the late oeuvre of the Polish sculptress Alina Szapocznikow (1926-1973) provides perfect illustration for this phenomenon. In her ‘fetish-lamps’, combining polyester with electric light, the artist broached the issues previously often realised in alabaster: female body, light, fragility and impermanence. In the following the position of alabaster in the time of the triumph of arte povera and its new attitude towards art material have been considered. The author noticed that, even though this artistic movement has originated in Italy where alabaster has been discredited by the Volterran mass production, the material has apparently not been critically demythologized as it was the case of marble. Their roots in arte povera have the contemporary works of Marisa Merz or Ettorre Spalletti who have succeeded in retrieving in their abstract works rudimental properties of alabaster. Such interpretation of traditional material is rather exceptional. Most of the important sculptures in alabaster realised since the 1960s relate somehow to the tradition, if not formally then at least thematically. Eduardo Chillida in his extraordinary ‘architectural’ works as Homage to Kandinsky or Homage to the sea exploited the translucency of alabaster, its ability to let light inside and in this way to give shape to the inner space. The other traditional motif reinterpreted by contemporary artists are alabaster windows. It has been taken up by Cristina Iglesias (Untitled – Alabaster room) and Tacita Dean (Alabaster drawings). British artist Alison Wilding combines alabaster with synthetic materials as resin to look into the problem of duality of objects (Alabastros). She pursues in reinterpretation of old meanings, as in her alabaster work Harbour which stands for Entombment in the series of works being contemporary interpretation of the Passion of Christ in the abstract language. The last discussed artist – Anish Kapoor discovered alabaster for him in 1999 (Untitled). For him as well fundamental is the duality of the form, however in this case derived from the properties of the stone itself. Rough crust of alabaster block contrasts with its glowing polished inner core. Common for most of these artists is undoubtedly an attempt to regain the spirituality in art. They consciously use for this purpose the material for ages regarded as mystic. Summarising the author considers the reasons of the mystic interpretation of alabaster.

A major reform of the higher education system began with the entry into force of the Law on higher education and science act (from October 1, 2018), aimed at improving conditions for practicing scientific and didactic excellence in Polisch universities. The changes in the regulations concerned the organization of universities and ensuring the sustainable development of academic centers across the country, which influenced the model of university management after 2018. The edited volume entitled Dean’s offices in the process of changes. New legal and organizational reality was written at this critical time of major changes in Polish higher education, and it provides a timely and thorough overview of the implications of the reform, especially regarding the management practices.

W artykule zaprezentowano przegląd literaturowy oraz analizę porównawczą dotyczącą liczb kryterialnych istotnych w opisie i projektowaniu wężownicowych wymienników ciepła – liczby Deana i krytycznej liczby Reynoldsa. Liczby te uwzględniają specyfikę przepływu płynu w wężownicy powstałej przez nawinięcie rury o przekroju kołowym na walcowej pobocznicy. Omówiono również geometrię wężownicy niezbędną w opisie liczb kryterialnych ze względu na istotny wpływ parametrów geometrycznych na strukturę przepływu. Dokonana analiza porządkuje zakresy stosowalności odpowiednich wzorów kryterialnych w zastosowaniu do opisu zjawisk związanych z intensyfikacją wymiany ciepła w wężownicowym wymienniku, wynikającą z pojawienia się przepływu wtórnego, który jest efektem interakcji siły odśrodkowej, sił bezwładności oraz sił wywołanych lepkością płynu.
The article presents a literature review and a comparative analysis of criterion numbers important in the description and design of coil heat exchangers - the Dean number and the critical Reynolds number. These numbers take into account the specificity of fluid flow in the coil resulting from winding of the circular section pipe on the cylindrical side. Coil geometry necessary in the description of criterion numbers was also discussed due to the significant influence of geometric parameters on the flow structure. The work analyzes the scope of applicability of appropriate criterion formulas in the description of phenomena related to intensification of heat transfer in the coil heat exchanger resulting from the occurrence of secondary flow, which is the effect of interaction of centrifugal forces, inertia forces and forces caused by fluid viscosity.

Opis:
Diecezja augustowska, czyli sejneńska, została utworzona przez papieża Piusa VII na mocy bulli Ex imposita Nobis z dnia 30 czerwca 1818 roku i obejmowała 120 parafii i podzielonych na 12 dekanatów. Dziekani w diecezji byli mianowani przez biskupa diecezjalnego lub administratora diecezji. Nominacje te uzależnione były od władz państwowych. Dziekani nie posiadali władzy jurysdykcyjnej, a ich obowiązki i prawa były zgodne z ówcześnie obowiązującym prawem kanonicznym. Znali lokalną sytuację w dekanacie, więc udzielali pomocy biskupowi lub administratorowi diecezji w rozwiązywaniu trudnych problemów, nadzorowali pracę księży oraz służyli im pomocą.
