    Opis:
    Marriages enabled the House of Vasa to enter into the network of courts throughout Europe and opened a way to participate in the processes of assimilation, reception or rejection of respective cultural, religious, and political paradigms. The bonds of kinship became one of the most effective instruments to raise the prestige and the standing of dynasty, which sought to occupy an ever higher position in the hierarchy of European rulers. The aim of this paper is to show how the House of Vasa functioned within he contemporaneous dynastic networks in Europe on the examples of several selected issues of strictly familial nature: inheritance of names, christenings, family reunions and financial security.

    Opis:
    During the principate of Augustus and Tiberius, the unexpected death of members of the ruling house, the planned successors in particular, repeatedly disrupted the dynastic concepts of these emperors. The situation provided a good opportunity for the senate and the inhabitants of the provinces to assert their loyalty and attachment to the imperial family through appropriate honours paid to its departed members.  Among numerous posthumous honours granted to the deceased, particular attention is due to the honorific arches and statue groups which were erected in major locations in Romeand in the provinces. The regulations of the Senate and the local authorities also concerned apposite commemoration of the anniversary of their death. As the epigraphic sources inform, on that day Roman citizens were subject to a number of prohibitions, while in front of the Mausoleum of Augustus ceremonial offerings (inferiae) were to be made to their Manes. The kinds of posthumous honours voted in honour of the deceased members of the domus Augusta  attest to a high rank of these persons. After all, a similar kind of posthumous honours were bestowed only on the princeps.  The analysis of the course and the nature of funeral ceremony of the members of Augustus’ and Tiberius’ house demonstrates that a certain model emerged, which since the funus of Marcellus was later imitated, with certain modifications, during funerals of successive representatives of the ruling dynasty. Among the shared elements which featured at those ceremonies one should list the public presentation of the body of the deceased at the Forum Romanum, funeral speeches (laudationes) delivered by the closest male members of the family and the display of the masks of the ancestors (imagines). There is no doubt that the funeral ceremonies of persons from the imperial family were a source of substantial inspiration in the arrangements for the funeral of Augustus himself, and later for the subsequent principes of the Julio-Claudian dynasty as well.

    Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza pieczęci królewicza Kazimierza Kazimierzowica Jagiellończyka z okresu jego starań o koronę węgierską w latach 1471–1472. Po zaprezentowaniu źródła autor dokonuje interpretacji jego programu ideowo-politycznego w kontekście rywalizacji habsbursko-korwińsko-jagiellońskiej w trzeciej ćwierci XV w.
    The article deals with the seal of Prince Casimir Jagiellon (the second son of King Casimir IV) from the period of his claims to the Hungarian Crown in 1471–1472. After presenting the source material, the author interprets his ideological and political programme in the context of the rivalry between the Jagiellons, Habsburgs and Corvinus in the third quarter of the fifteenth century.

    The paper examines how Roman emperors used coins and medallions during the 3rd-century crisis to promote the dynastic ideologies and succession policies of the ruling house. Roman numismatics expands our knowledge of the nuances of dynastic politics. The keystone was the emperor; it also concerned the figures of empresses, heirs and ancestors. The analysis of numismatic evidence shows the mechanisms of constructing an image of dynastic unity, harmony in the imperial family, and succession stability in the Roman Empire.
    W artykule przeanalizowano w jaki sposób podczas kryzysu III w. cesarze rzymscy wykorzystywali monety i medaliony do promowania ideologii dynastycznej i sukcesji rodu rządzącego. Numizmatyka rzymska rozszerza naszą wiedzę o niuansach polityki dynastycznej. Jej zwornikiem był cesarz; a dotyczyło to również postaci cesarzowej, dziedziców i przodków. Analiza świadectw numizmatycznych ukazuje mechanizmy konstruowania wizerunku jedności dynastycznej, harmonii w rodzinie cesarskiej oraz stabilności sukcesji w imperium rzymskim.
