Opis:
The renewable energy sources or energy storage devices deliver output voltage at the range of around 12 VDC to 48 VDC. In order to obtain at least 350 VDC needed for direct to alternating current conversion the DC/DC power converter should demonstrate significant voltage gain and power conversion efficiency as high as possible. To obtain such level of output voltage at low input voltages transistors of the boost converter must operate with high currents. High efficiency and high voltage gain can be achieved with parallel combination of two or more isolated step-up converters. The converters operate synchronously and in phase, using the same control signals. Balancing transformers are used to ensure the synchronization and equal distribution of current between the power levels. They provide equal distribution of significant input current to a number of smaller current loops. This feature alongside with the use of power MOSFETs with low channel resistance and silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky diodes will reduce losses within the converter and increase the efficiency of entire energy conversion system. This paper presents PSpice simulation results of partial parallel isolated DC/DC boost converter with voltage doubler. In presented circuit high voltage gain and high conversion efficiency were achieved.

Opis:
This paper presents a dual inductor-fed boost converter with an auxiliary transformer and voltage doubler for sustainable energy power converters. The new topology integrates a two-phase boost converter and a dual inductor-fed boost converter. The energy stored and transferred by both inductors can attain a wide input-voltage and load range which uses a constant switching frequency, by controlling the time duration of the simultaneous conduction of the two switches. Among other current-fed type boost converters the presented topology is attractive due to the high voltage conversion ratio, less stress on the components and less switch conduction loss. To verify the feasibility of this topology, the principles of operation, theoretical analysis, and experimental waveforms are presented for a 1 kW prototype.

The green energy sources are the utmost needs of today’s world where the reserves of fossil fuel are depleting day by day. The Distributed Generation (DG) has become integral part of power system at commercial level. The most efficient among all DGs and Renewable Energy Sources (RES) is the Fuel Cell (FC) power generation. The fuel cell invariably converts chemical energy directly into electricity. The Fuel cells have normally 60 to 70% efficiency at working conditions. The polarization curve of fuel cell plays important role in improving its efficiency. This research presents the mathematical and Simulink modeling 6 kW, 45 Vdc of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell. The input thermodynamic parameters of fuel cell are varied and their effects on the output electrical variable are observed. The DC/DC boost converter is used to step up the voltage of fuel cell to 100 Vdc at commercial usable level. A new mathematical equation is presented to improve the efficiency of fuel. The mathematical results are then varied through Simulink results.

The research for novel power conversion topologies and the development of cutting-edge power component technologies are driven by the demand for renewable and much more efficient electricity generation, delivery, and conversion. Simulation and Analysis High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter with Double Voltage Booster Switched Inductor for PV Applications are analyzed in this paper. Multilevel boost converter topologies recently reintroduced, are gaining popularity as a solution for industrial and transportation power systems because they enable the use of innovative, efficient, but relatively low voltage low-voltage devices at greater voltage and power levels. there is only one power switch on the converter that is planned here, three diodes, two capacitors, and two inductors to achieve ultra-high gain with better efficiency. High voltage gain, minimal switch stress, and the ability to lessen input-current ripple and capacitor voltage ripple are all benefits of the topology. When it switches complementary, the capacitors' ripple is reduced, which lowers the size requirement for the capacitors. A 12V, 500 watts prototype was analyzed, simulated and designed. at a duty cycle of 0.75 it is achieved high DC-DC gain i.e 19 and efficiency 93%. The practicality of the converter will be demonstrated by the close agreement between the analysis and simulation findings.

Opis:
This elaboration presents the concept of a unidirectional DC–DC switchedcapacitor converter operating as a voltage tripler. The system consists of two resonant cells with switched capacitors and chokes. This proposed converter topology achieves low voltages on semiconductor switches (diodes and transistors) compared to the classic SC series-parallel converter or the boost topology. The output voltage on the capacitors is reduced in the proposed converter because it is divided into two series-connected capacitors with asymmetric distribution. The presented results describe the analytical description of the system operation and the analytical equation for semiconductor currents. A simulation and experimental results have been performed. The system efficiency and three voltage gain values were measured in the experimental setup. The efficiency measured was also compared with the analytical determination curve for loss analysis and further converter optimization.

Opis:
This paper presents a concept and the results of an investigation of a DC–DC boost converter with high voltage gain and a reduced number of switches. The novel concept assumes that the converter operates in a topology composed of series connection switched- capacitor-based multiplier (SCVM) sections. Furthermore, the structure of the sections has significant impact on parameters of the converter which is discussed in this paper. The paper demonstrates the basic benefit such a multisection SCVM idea in the converter, which is the significant reduction in the number of switches and diodes for high voltage gain in comparison to an SCVM converter. Aside from the number of switches and diodes, such parameters as efficiency and volume of passive components in the multisection converter are analyzed in this paper. In figures, the analysis is demonstrated using the example of 100 kW thyristor-based converters. All the characteristics of the converter are compared between various configurations of switching cells in the particular sections, thus the paper can be useful for a design approach for a high voltage gain multicell converter.

This paper presents the research results of a multilevel switched capacitor DC-DC converter (MLSCC). The converter, for power electronic applications, can operate in ZCS mode by utilizing resonant circuits for recharging the switched capacitors. The main focus of this article is an in-depth original analysis of the waveforms and the converter voltage ratio. The concept of the converter is verified by simulation results of the circuit in MATLAB/Simulink Sim Power Systems. The formulas given in the mathematical analysis are evaluated for example parameters of the components with the use of numerical approach in MATLAB software. Plot sets are presented in order to judge the influence of the parameters on converter performance. All non-expected relations are explained based on mathematical analysis. The possibilities of the design optimization are identified and presented based on the anticipated results. The present analysis is important for the converter design process and can be used for numerical multi-object optimization to further improve the converter design.

DC-DC converters are popular switch-mode electronic circuits used in power supply systems of many electronic devices. Designing such converters requires reliable computation methods and models of components contained in these converters, allowing for accurate and fast computations of their characteristics. In the paper, a new averaged model of a diode-transistor switch containing an IGBT is proposed. The form of the developed model is presented. Its accuracy is verified by comparing the computed characteristics of the boost converter with the characteristics computed in SPICE using a transient analysis and literature models of a diode and an IGBT. The obtained results of computations proved the usefulness of the proposed model.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of a novel quasi-resonant boost converter with a tapped inductor. This converter combines the advantages of zero voltage quasi-resonant techniques and different conduction modes with the possibility of obtaining a high voltage conversion ratio by using a tapped inductor, which results in high converter efficiency and soft switching in the whole output power range. The paper contains an analysis of converter operation, a determination of voltage conversion ratio and the maximum voltage across power semiconductor switches as well as a discussion of control methods in discontinuous, critical, and continuous conduction modes. In order to verify the novelty of the proposed converter, a laboratory prototype of 300 W power was built. The highest efficiency η = 94.7% was measured with the output power Po = 260 W and the input voltage Vin = 50 V. The lowest efficiency of 90.7% was obtained for the input voltage Vin = 30 V and the output power Po = 75 W. The model was tested at input voltages (30–50) V, output voltage 380 V and maximum switching frequency 100 kHz.

Opis:
The development of photovoltaic (PV) panels has made solar-powered pumps a reality. The pump drivers are usually direct-current (DC) motors which are fed by power electronic converters with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to extract the whole energy that the PV panels can generate depending on the environmental conditions including irradiation and temperature. The implementation of MPPT algorithm essentially involves sensing both an input current and an input voltage. Understandably, such realization is expensive. In this paper, a solar PV water pumping system based on DC to DC converter as MPPT module is considered. The system consists of a PV array, a DC to DC boost converter and the DC motor coupled to a centrifugal pump. A proposed method is employed to seek the maximum power point using the flow rate obtained from a single sensor. A comparison with conventional hill climbing technique is included in experimental results to prove feasibility of the proposed method.

This paper presents a novel fault detection algorithm for a three-phase interleaved DC–DC boost converter integrated in a photovoltaic system. Interleaved DC–DC converters have been used widely due to their advantages in terms of efficiency, ripple reductions, modularity and small filter components. The fault detection algorithm depends on the input current waveform as a fault indicator and does not require any additional sensors in the system. To guarantee service continuity, a fault tolerant topology is achieved by connecting a redundant switch to the interleaved converter. The proposed fault detection algorithm is validated under different scenarios by the obtained results.

Opis:
Two popular DC-DC power converters (BUCK and BOOST) have been discussed. Models of line-to-output and control-to-output transfer functions, considering all parasitic resistances, have been recalled. Based on those models examples of simulations corresponding to characteristics in frequency and time domain have been presented. The simulations have been performed with free of charge program called Scilab. All parameters of converters’ elements used for the simulations, including parasitic resistances, have been acquired during measurements. It means that simulated converters refer to a good approximation of real device which has been built and tested. Practical meaning of every simulation has been explained. The paper reveals differences between simulations of models considering three types of mathematical models which include: all, some of and none of a parasitic resistances. It is shown that simulations generated according to models considering only parasitic resistances of inductor and capacitor are substantially different from simulations achieved based on model, which additionally considers parasitic resistances of switching elements (transistor and diode).
