    Opis:
    Purpose – The aim of the presented article is the assessment of the relationship between the intensity of cooperation in the field of innovation of small and medium-sized enterprises with other business entities and their location in the functional area. Research method – A review of the literature on determinants of cooperation in the field of innovation of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the functional area was carried out. The second part of the article presents the results of empirical research conducted among 150 small and mediumsized companies operating in the Lodz-Warsaw functional area. The survey was carried out based on the interview method, using an anonymous questionnaire, with owners or co-owners of enterprises or their main managers. Results – Proximity of companies and other entities located in the functional area and the resulting cooperation in the field of innovation have a positive effect on financial and non-financial results obtained through cooperation. This indicates a dependence between cooperation and innovativeness of companies which are located in the functional area and have partners there. Originality / value – The analysis of the results of the conducted research confirms the assumption that the intensity of cooperation in the field of innovation of Polish small and medium-sized enterprises with other economic entities depends on their location in functional areas.

    Celem artykułu jest próba przybliżenia procesu tworzenia organizacji wirtualnych przez współczesne przedsiębiorstwa. Organizacja wirtualna traktowana jest tutaj jako specyficzna forma organizowania współpracy niezależnych przedsiębiorstw we współczesnym świecie biznesu. Teoretyczne podstawy publikacji stanowią rozważania na temat istoty organizacji wirtualnej, jej charakterystyki oraz procesu kreowania organizacji wirtualnych. Przy czym analizy procesu tworzenia organizacji wirtualnych dokonano wzdłuż cyklu ich życia. Analizując poszczególne etapy cyklu życia organizacji wirtualnej zaprezentowano postępowanie przedsiębiorstw od momentu odkrycia okazji rynkowej i poszukiwania partnerów do wspólnej realizacji przedsięwzięcia aż po finał owej współpracy i rozwiązanie organizacji wirtualnej. Część praktyczna artykułu oparta jest o wyniki badań naukowych, które pozwoliły na empiryczną weryfikację rozważań teoretycznych. Badaniem objęto przedsiębiorstwa sektora MSP realizujące swoją działalność na terenie Polski, wyłonione do badań za pomocą trzech prestiżowych rankingów. Zastosowano dwie metody zbierania danych: wywiad telefoniczny i wywiad osobisty. Na podstawie studiów literaturowych stworzono listę pytań korespondujących z elementami cyklu życia organizacji wirtualnej. Respondentów zapytano o sposoby ich postępowania na każdym etapie życia takiej organizacji. Uzyskane zatem w ramach badań wyniki przybliżyły proces tworzenia organizacji wirtualnych we współczesnym świecie biznesu.
    This article attempts to approximate the process of creating virtual organizations by modern companies. A virtual organization is seen here as a specific form of organizing cooperation among independent companies in the contemporary business world. The theoretical basis of the publication is therefore a reflection on the essence of a virtual organization, its characteristics and the process of creating virtual organizations. The analysis of the process of creating virtual organizations made along their life cycle. This analysis shows the behavior of companies from the discovery of a market opportunity to the final solution of collaboration and virtual organization. So shows the proceedings at every stage of the life cycle of virtual organization. The practical part of the article is based on the results of research which allowed conducting an empirical verification of the theoretical considerations. The research covered small and medium-sized companies operating within the territory of the Republic of Poland. The companies were selected by three prestigious rankings. The data collection methods applied were a telephone interview and personal interview. Based on literature studies created a list of questions corresponding to the elements of the life cycle of virtual organization. Respondents participating in the research were asked to determine their behavior over the life cycle of such an organization. The results of the research have provided a lot of interesting information and introduced to the process of creating virtual organization in the contemporary business world.

    Celem artykułu było przedstawienie wyników badań barier dla współpracy przedsiębiorstw przetwórstwa przemysłowego ze sferą nauki i jednostek transferu technologii, które zmniejszają innowacyjną aktywność. Badanie przeprowadzono metodą ankietową na próbie ponad 250 przedsiębiorstw. Rezultaty badań wskazują, że natura barier tkwi w słabości kapitału ludzkiego i wynika z braku zaangażowania, umiejętności nawiązywania kontaktów, wykorzystania informacji oraz trudności w akceptacji nowości. Występuje też brak zrozumienia korzyści ze współpracy. Nadzieją na poprawę są deklaracje respondentów o rozpoczęciu lub kontynuowaniu działalności innowacyjnej oraz wspieraniu edukacji pracowników, komunikacji wewnętrznej, poprawy systemu motywacji i integracji. To może zwiększyć kapitał społeczny przedsiębiorstw (zaufanie, normy i wartości, przedsiębiorczość osób), który wpływa na rozwój relacji nieformalnych między pracownikami i w sieci organizacji oraz kształtuje wzrost innowacyjności.
    In this paper the results of research devoted to barriers for cooperation between enterprises and sciences sector were presented. Such barriers decrease the innovative potential of industry. The questionnaire method has been applied to the sample of over 250 enterprises. The results indicate that the nature of barriers comes from low level of human capital e.g. low commitment, easily entering into relationship, use of information, difficulty in novelty acceptation. The lack of understanding of profits from cooperation is also significant. The hope for improvement lies in declaration of managers concerning: continuing or stimulating innovative activity and support for education, communication and motivation system. This activity will strengthen social capital resources, which in turn will improve relations between industry and science, as well.

W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę oceny gotowości funkcjonowania współczesnych małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w sieciach produkcyjnych, na podstawie analizy literatury oraz przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych na wybranej grupie specjalistycznych przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych z regionu województwa lubuskiego, należących do sektora metalowego.
    The functioning of small and medium-sized enterprises in production networks gives many opportunities for businesses today, but also raises some concerns and requires the solution of many problems. The process of forming a network of companies for certain joint ventures depends on the degree of preparation of these companies to share their resources, the possibility of estimating the related costs and the rapid planning jointly implemented projects. The article attempts to assess the readiness of the functioning of today's small and medium-sized enterprises in production networks based on the analysis of literature and conducted surveys on a selected group of specialized production companies from the Lubuskie Province region, belonging to the metal sector.

    Research background: Cooperation is an indispensable element of innovation activities of enterprises. Undertakings in innovation, by nature, require not only significant expenditures or creative human capital, but also cooperation with other enterprises, scientific institutions, and the business environment. Cooperating companies have a greater chance to compete in the international arena while building the innovative potential of the regional environment. Stimulating the permanent cooperation of enterprises operating in the region, in its various forms, is a key challenge for central government authorities, local government authorities, and other actors in social and economic life. The existing literature on the cooperation of enterprises focuses on the motives of cooperation and their effects, but to a lesser extent on the spatial similarity of these processes, i.e. in individual regions of the country. Purpose of the article: The purpose of the article is to diagnose and evaluate regional differences in the level of cooperation between companies conducting innovation activities in Poland. The study used data on innovation activities published by Statistics Poland and data on enterprises participating in cluster cooperation published by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development. Methods: The cluster analysis was used, allowing to identify voivodeships that are similar to each other in terms of the analyzed phenomenon. The spatial classification of voivodeships was performed using the Ward method, which is classified as hierarchical and is often used to group objects. The result is a hierarchical tree that groups the regions in increasingly larger clusters. Findings & value added: The results indicate a low level of cooperation and the existence of significant differences in the cooperation of enterprises as part of innovation activities in Polish regions. The low level of cooperation between companies in individual regions corresponds to the number of marketed innovations. There are similarities between some regions in terms of cooperation on innovation activities. The results of the analysis may provide an indication for national and European Union economic policy entities in the field of creating instruments to support the cooperation of companies on innovation activities.

    Opis:
    Cooperation of companies determines the development of the modern economy and creating innovation. Experts even recognize its superiority over the competition. The degree of cooperation is dependent on the environment, competitors, and the needs of the cooperator. Any company that operates in terms of the knowledge economy to be developed and strengthenes its position in the market must be innovative, and this is possible due to acquisition of knowledge external sources. Derivative of cooperation based on mutual learning process is created in the system value innovation. The practice indicates a growing number of cooperation initiatives by external actors with small and medium-sized enterprises, in spite of the fact their cooperation is exposed to the impact of the many barriers that arise both from market conditions and internal determinants dependent on the entity. In the first part of the article we outline theoretical aspect of cooperation. The second part of the article is devoted to the presentation of research results that show the conditions of cooperation of small and medium-sized enterprises in Tarnów and Małopolska Region. The purpose of this article is to present modern forms of knowledge from the outside. The paper attempts to identify the determinants and assess the level of cooperation of small and medium-sized enterprises, as a prerequisite for strengthening their capacity development.
    Kooperacja przedsiębiorstw warunkuje rozwój współczesnej gospodarki i tworzenie innowacji; specjaliści uznają nawet jej wyższość nad konkurencją. Stopień nasilenia współpracy uzależniony jest od otoczenia, działającej konkurencji i potrzeb danego kooperanta. Każde przedsiębiorstwo, które funkcjonuje w warunkach gospodarki opartej na wiedzy, aby się rozwijało i umacniało swoją pozycję na rynku, musi być innowacyjne, a jest to możliwe między innymi dzięki pozyskiwaniu wiedzy z zewnętrznych źródeł. Pochodną współpracy opartej na procesie wzajemnego uczenia się jest stworzona w tym układzie wartość innowacji. Praktyka wskazuje na coraz liczniejsze inicjatywy kooperacji podmiotów zewnętrznych z małymi i średnimi przedsiębiorstwami, pomimo tego ich współpraca wystawiona jest na oddziaływanie licznych barier, które wynikają zarówno z uwarunkowań rynku, jak i z wewnętrznych determinant zależnych od danego podmiotu. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono w zarysie teoretyczny aspekt kooperacji jako innowacyjne źródło wiedzy. Drugą część rozważań poświęcono prezentacji wyników badań, które ukazują uwarunkowania kooperacji małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw z regionu Tarnowa i Małopolski. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie nowoczesnej formy pozyskiwania wiedzy z zewnątrz. Podjęto próbę rozpoznania determinant i oceny poziomu kooperacji małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw jako przesłanki wzmocnienia ich zdolności rozwojowej.

    Artykuł wpisuje się w obszar badań nad innowacyjnością. Jego celem jest dyskusja nad tezą zakładającą, że efektywność funkcjonowania systemu wsparcia innowacyjności w Austrii wynika z organizacji systemu edukacyjnego i przede wszystkim z organizacji systemu instytucjonalnego wsparcia innowacyjności. Uzasadnieniem celu jest odwołanie się do rankingów innowacyjności gospodarek, według których Austria jest liderem w kluczowej z punktu widzenia innowacyjności kategorii, czyli współpracy biznesu z nauką. Zawarte w artykule ustalenia wynikające z wtórnej analizy danych i materiałów źródłowych wskazują, że efektywność systemu wsparcia innowacji przedsiębiorstw w Austrii wynika z dużych nakładów pieniężnych na inwestycje w badania i rozwój, promocji uczenia się przez całe życie, dużej świadomości roli branży kreatywnej w pobudzaniu innowacyjności, zaangażowania podmiotów austriackich w projekty badawczo-rozwojowe, przejrzystego systemu instytucjonalnego wsparcia innowacyjności koordynowanego przez Austriacką Federalną Izbę Gospodarczą. Innowacyjności sprzyja także zaangażowanie się państwa w jej promocję, a przede wszystkim - pobudzanie innowacyjności firm przez nawiązywanie współpracy przedsiębiorstw z instytucjami naukowo-badawczymi.
    The article is part of the research on innovation. Its aim is to discuss the thesis assuming that the effectiveness of the functioning of the innovation support system in Austria results from the organisation of the educational system and, above all, from the organisation of the institutional innovation support system. The justification of the objective is to refer to the innovation rankings of economies according to which Austria is the leader in the key category from the point of view of innovation, i.e. cooperation between business and science. The findings of the paper, resulting from the secondary analysis of the data and source materials, indicate that the effectiveness of the system of innovation support for enterprises in Austria is due to the large amount of money invested in research and development, the promotion of lifelong learning, the high awareness of the role of the creative industry in stimulating innovation, the involvement of Austrian entities in research and development projects, the transparent institutional system of innovation support coordinated by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Innovation is also fostered by the state’s involvement in promoting innovation and, above all, stimulating the innovativeness of companies by establishing cooperation between companies and scientific and research institutions.

    In the last decade the development of cross-border cooperation in the context of economic integration and internationalization processes becoming increasingly import ant for Ukraine, which follows the Western vector of integration. Systematic development of cross-border cooperation is not possible without considering all of its components and levels. The article highlights a vision of complicated economic phenomenon – the cross-border cooperation of enterprises, which combines the two important economic categories – cross-border cooperation and entrepreneurship by its self. Ich wyniki wykazały, iż współpraca przedsiębiorstwz podmiotami zarówno ze sfery gospodarczej, jak i naukowej nabiera coraz większego znaczeniai znajduje coraz lepsze odzwierciedlenie w działaniach przedsiębiorstw zlokalizowanych w badanychklastrach. Jednym z głównych źródeł współpracy w analizowanych przedsiębiorstwach byławspółpraca przedsiębiorstw z innymi podmiotami gospodarczymi oraz jednostkami naukowymi.
    The main objective of this article is to present various aspects involved in boosting innovation withincompanies located in clusters. Some factors taken into account are network links with various partners,the types of innovations implemented, and their sources, with an emphasis on cooperation withinthe scientific community. At the beginning of the article theoretical issues are discussed, relating tothe concept of clusters in the context of improving the innovativeness of enterprises. The empiricalportion of this article presents the level of innovation of the Swietokrzyskie region and resultsof companies located in clusters within the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship. The basic research methodemployed was direct interviewing conducted by specialised interviewers. The study was carried outon enterprises located in clusters within the Swietokrzyskie Voivodeship. Study results demonstratedthat the cooperation of enterprises with entities, both economic and scientific, becomes increasinglyimportant and is reflected increasingly in the activities of companies located in the clusters examinedhere. One of the main sources of innovation in the researched enterprises is cooperation with otherentities and the wider scientific community.

    Technology entrepreneurship is becoming one of the solutions resulting in increased innovativeness and competitiveness of enterprises in the conditions of the so called new economy. It is the process of transformation of an idea into innovation, and it covers the conversion of scientific knowledge into products and services aimed directly at the commercial market. At its basis lies the effective cooperation between the research centres, capital market institutions and business support institutions as well as enterprises. Hence an essential challenge faced by the business entities is the development of appropriate relationships and forms of cooperation with the elements of the business environment, allowing for the efforts of the commercial as well as science and technology spheres to be directed at the creation of innovation with the use of market opportunities and the potential of the dynamic business environment. Therefore the aim of this paper has been set to draw attention to the importance of shaping of appropriate forms of cooperation with the business environment in the process of technology entrepreneurship development. In order to achieve this aim, a case study of MakoLab S.A., enterprise operating in the IT industry has been conducted.

    Today's economy is extremely networked. We are able to observe the growing popularity of strategic networking. Interorganizational networks are perceived as a fast channel to the sustainable competitive advantage. Simultaneously, in many cases strategic partners decide to break ties before the joint goals are reached and networks fall apart. Therefore, in the field of strategic management the further research on network performance is relevant and needed. One of the most important feature of networks is internal coordination (shaped by market, hierarchic and social mechanisms) which is perceived as one of the primordial determinants of the durable and successful networking. The literature provides us a lot of deep, diversified and also inconsistent analysis on both network success and network failure. However, one of the newest research direction related to the networking is proximity concept. Proximity used to be perceived as the most important factor which shapes the network performance in the field of economic geography.

    Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest analiza istoty wybranych aspektów współdziałania przedsiębiorstw w perspektywie sieciowej. Gospodarka oparta na sieci jest jednym z zasadniczych wyróżników współcześnie funkcjonujących podmiotów. Cele przedsiębiorstwa, które nie mogą zostać osiągnięte przez indywidualne działania, są niejednokrotnie realizowane w wyniku wytworzenia synergicznego potencjału współpracujących podmiotów. W opracowaniu położono nacisk na omówienie zarówno problematyki współpracy międzyorganizacyjnej, jak i znaczenia sieciowości organizacji w obecnych realiach rynkowych.
    The principal aim of the study is analysis of the selected aspects of cooperation between enterprises with network perspective. Network-based economy is one of the basic distinguishing features of contemporary enterprises. The aims of the enterprise which cannot be achieved through individual activities are often accomplished through a synergic effect of cooperating entities. The focus of the study is on discussion of both problems of inter organizational cooperation and importance of network-based organization under present market reality.

    The article presents fundamentals of regional business communities (RSB) creation, where the emphasis was put on technological aspects of proposed venture creation embracing companies providing different type of media (gas, water, electricity etc.). RSB is treated as the platform operating on the Internet, on the basis of ”GIS in Cloud” solutions and it would have to facilitate cooperation between subjects participating in the planned venture. The elaboration analyses technological conditioning of such a type of projects creation and presents the results of pilotage empirical research which were carried out in five organizations functioning in the Częstochowa region and which can potentially become active participants of RSB. This research showed that the concept of RSB is a proposal which could bring advantages to involved business partners.

    Celem artykułu jest skonfrontowanie nowych zintegrowanych strategii rozwojowych na lata 2014–2020 z analizą stanu obecnego w wybranych obszarach problemowych dla identyfikacji zagrożeń rozwojowych w tych obszarach. Możliwe jest zbudowanie podstaw nowoczesnej gospodarki opartej na sektorze badawczo-rozwojowym wspartym sieciami kooperacyjnymi przedsiębiorstw w oparciu o wykorzystanie nowych technologii komunikacyjno-informatycznych, pod pewnymi jednak warunkami. Działalność badawczo-rozwojową należy podporządkować mechanizmowi i procedurom transformacji innowacji we wdrożenia wraz z informacją zwrotną dla podmiotów tworzących innowacje o zyskach i wartościach niepieniężnych otrzymywanych z nowych zastosowań. Należy utworzyć podległą bezpośrednio wojewodzie organizację do spraw wdrożeń innowacji w każdym województwie. Jej celem byłoby doprowadzenie do wdrożeń innowacji w danym województwie poprzez obniżenie kosztów funkcjonowania pośredników finansowych i ich większą specjalizację pracy w zakresie wyceny ryzyka wdrożeń innowacji. Należy doprowadzić do ponownej centralizacji prywatnych małych i mikroprzedsiębiorstw dla realizacji celów badawczo-rozwojowych i innych inwestycyjnych.
    The aim of the paper is the comparable analysis of the integrated development strategies in Poland with the actual diagnosis in the field of R+D sector. There is possibility to develop the modern economy based on new networks of enterprises and R+D sector development in Poland in a relatively short time. However, this possibility is under several conditions. There is a need for build new structure for innovation transfer into products and services in voivodships to cut the costs of implementation process There is also the need to concentrate private small enterprises to reach R&D goals and joint investments.
