Opis:
In modern machining industry, the concept of process optimization has gained widespread recognition. FEM simulations are commonly used for the optimization of machining operations, allowing for a proper choice of tool geometry and process parameters to obtain results that are in accordance with end user criteria. However, one has to be wary that a good agreement of experimental and simulation results is mandatory if the simulation is to be used as a basis for optimization of a real-life process. Therefore, a proper choice of constitutive model parameters is vital. Those parameter values are dependent on many variables. Constitutive model parameter values are determined experimentally – therefore, they are accurate only for the conditions (temperature, strain rate etc.) under which the experiment was performed. The alteration, or optimization of model parameters is necessary if cutting and experiment conditions differ, if one wishes to obtain applicable results. In this work, the authors aim to present a method of optimizing the Johnson–Cook constitutive model parameters to obtain a better fit with experimental data.

Opis:
In order to investigate the characteristics of the thermal reaction for two kinds of mixed explosives, PBXC-10 (HMX/TATB/Binder, 38/57/5) and JO-8 (HMX/Binder, 95/5), multi-point measured temperature cook-off tests were carried out at different heating rates. The thermal transfer and finite chemical reactions that include the β→δ transition of HMX, and the endothermic and exothermic cook-off processes were analyzed. A 3D model of the explosive cook-off test was developed to simulate the thermal and chemical behaviour in a thermal ignition. The decomposition mechanisms for HMX and TATB are described by the multistep, chemical kinetic model. The thermal properties, decomposition pathways, and chemical kinetic reaction rate constants for each component are used to develop the reaction courses at various weight percentages. The thermal decomposition reaction of a multi-component, mixed explosive can be predicted as long as the chemical kinetics model of each single-base explosive and binder are known. The phase transition of HMX has an influence on the temperature of the explosive, especially for an explosive with a high HMX content. For mixed explosives containing HMX and TATB, most of the heat release is produced by the decomposition of HMX before ignition, but TATB can delay the ignition time and decrease the reaction violence in the cook-off process.

Metody minimalnego przetwarzania umożliwiają uzyskanie produktów pod względem naturalności i świeżości zbliżonych do surowców nieprzetworzonych.
Minimal Processing of foods makes possible to obtain products ready to eat or almost ready for consumption. Minimal forms of processing characterize in adequate durability, high sensoric quality, high nutritious value and safety. To prolong shelf life there are used several factors of preservation. Minimal forms of processing include washing with the use of the disinfection of vegetable materials, the use of the proper conditions of the packing, quick chilling, as well as careful keeping of the low temperatures of storage, the best in range from 0 to 3° C during distribution and sale. Minimal processed foods are not substantially changed from their raw, unprocessed form and retain most of their nutritional properties.

Opis:
The numerical simulations were carried out of penetration of 12.7 mm armour piercing projectile into the ARMOX 500 steel armour with the use of the AUTODYN 2D software program applying axis symmetry. The calculations were performed by means of the SPH (Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic) method. A constitutive Johnson-Cook model was used for both the armour and the projectile. The influence of discretization density of the numerical model on the residual velocity vr of the projectile, its wear and time of calculations was studied. An eight times decrease in the distance between the SPH particles in the numerical model causes an over 130 fold increase of the projectile residual velocity and a 960 fold increase in the calculation time. The examined aspects included the influence of armour thickness g and yield stress Re of the projectile material on its residual velocity and manner of the projectile and armour damage. The residual velocity of the projectile decreases together with an increase of the armour thickness and for g = 20 mm is vr = 300 m/s. Together with a decrease of the yield stress of the projectile material its residual velocity also decreases, the wear of the projectile increases, the shape and the dimensions of cross section hole in the armour also change.

Opis:
2-phase composites are often used for high demanding parts that can undergo impact loads. However, most of the papers on dynamic loading concerns layered composites. In our opinion, the impact loads are not considered thoroughly enough. Good examples of 2-phase composites are: (1) a WC/Co cermet or (2) a monolithic ceramic Al2 O3 /ZrO2 . The WC/Co cermet is often modelled as having ductile elasto-plastic Co matrix and ideally elastic WC grains. It is because of very high crushing resistivity of the WC. In this paper, we present an extension to earlier elaborated models ([44]) with the assumption of ideal elasticity of the grains. The new and general numerical model for high-velocity impact of the 2-phase composites is proposed. The idea of this novelty relies on the introduction of crushability of grains in the composite and thermo-mechanical coupling. The model allows for description of the dynamic response both composite polycrystals made of: (1) 2 different purely elastic phases (e.g. Al2 O3 /ZrO2 ) or (2) one elastic phase and the second one plastic (e.g. cermet WC/Co), or (3) 2 elasto-plastic phases with different material properties and damage processes. In particular, the analysis was limited to the cases (2) and (3), i.e. we investigated the WC/Co polycrystal that impacted a rigid wall with the initial velocity equal to 50 m/s.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to conform an available material data for aluminum alloy material (P A11). This task was filled with the aid of computer modeling techniques, which are based on Finite Element Method (FEM), and our own experimental tests of quasistatic tension/compression material samples. For this kind of research FEM is most commonly used, but there are also other numerical methods that can be applied. The idea of FEM is the division of the given continuous area into a finite number of subareas (finite elements) connected with one another in nodal points and approximation of solution inside the finite elements using interpolation functions and function values in nodes. Numerical analysis was performed with the LS-Dyna commercial software. Reconstruction of conditions of experiment required application of implicit method of numerical integration in time, so called implicit solver. At this stage of work the aluminum alloy P A11 with respect to Johnson-Cook model was researched. A further work for fmding a good material data for WHA, U12A steel for other constitutive models will be performed. A good agreement of the numerical and experimental results is received. Other material data used in modeling, which were not determined by experiment, assumed according to literature sources.

Opis:
Due to safety requirements, insensitive behaviour under slow thermal heating (cook-off) conditions is a desirable behaviour for today’s munitions. In this paper a cook-off device is designed to test two groups of RDX-based PBX explosives. In the first group the binder type was varied and in the second group the binder content of the RDX-based explosive was changed. Eleven samples were examined in order to evaluate the influence of four different binders and seven different binder contents on the shell deformation and the degree of the involved reaction. The test results showed that the degree of the reaction can be improved by changing the binder content, but not by the binder type. This phenomenon was explained by the thermal-conduction theory.

We have investigated the characteristics of acousto-optic interaction for low-frequency ultrasonic wave in a liquid. Based on the coupling wave equation of acousto-optic interaction, the diffraction light characteristics for normal incidence at small parameter Q have been discussed. The parameter Q with respect to acousto-optic interaction length, ultrasonic frequency, water temperature, and the concentration of sucrose solution have been analyzed, which is an important physical quantity and reflects the degree of mismatch in the acousto-optic interaction. The diffraction efficiencies for different parameters Q, incident angles and phase shifts have been calculated. The results of our work provide theoretical basis for further study of the acousto-optic effect in the liquid.

Opis:
The following discussion concerns modelling of fracture in steel plates during an impact test, in which both target and striker are manufactured from the same material, high-strength high-hardness armour steel – Mars® 300. The test conditions (3 mm thick targets, projectiles with different nose shapes at impact velocity lower than 400 m/s) result in severely damaged components, which results in an analysis of stress states showing material failure. Numerical analyses are performed using two material models: the Johnson-Cook approach, as traditionally used in impact simulations, accounting for the effect of stress triaxiality, strain rate and temperature and for comparison, a simulation by means of the stress triaxiality and Lode angle parameter-dependent Hosford-Coulomb model, also incorporating the effect of the strain rate on a fracture initiation. The aim of the study is to analyse the mechanisms of penetration and perforation observed in the armour steel plates and validation of the modelling approaches.

As the dynamic behavior of the concrete is different from that under static load, this research focuses on the study of dynamic responses of concrete by simulating the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test. Finite element code LS-DYNA is used for modeling the dynamic behaviors of concrete. Three continuous models are reviewed and the Holmquist-Johnson-Cook model (HJC) is introduced in detail. The HJC model which has been implemented in LS-DYNA is used to represent the concrete properties. The SHPB test model is established and a few stress waves are applied to the incident bar to simulate the dynamic concrete behaviors. The stress-strain curves are obtained. The stress distributions are analyzed. The crack initiation and propagation process are described. It is concluded that: the HJC model can modeling the entire process of the fracture initiation and fragmentation; the compressive of the concrete is significantly influenced by the strain rates.
