Opis:
Since XIXth century, with trail widespread, traveling has become more available, however a breakthrough ensued in XXth century, when labor unions had fought their chance to paid leave. It has become a drive shaft of tourism, which by the end of the century had proclaimed as a number 1 industry in the world. Tourism is an economic and spiritual hope for the world. Profits from it reach more than 500 billion dollars per year, not counting the income from flight tickets. In many countries tourism is the most important economy department - provides workplaces, stimulates infrastructure development. Lately, more often we can see a tendency of tourism individualization. Forecasts say, that they are about to change. A more specialized individual tourism is showing up next to the mass tourism, heading to cultural and natural penetration. Nowadays, a tourist is more experienced, often not discovering the world for the first time, but acknowledging his own knowledge. Mass tourism is still going to exist next to the individual tourism, with all of its economical advantages as well as with its destroying force. If there is no proper limitation and protection, areas on which mass tourism is developing would annihilate. Since decades, year by year, the number of tourists and income from tourism has been growing. A breakdown occurred in 2001 when economy of Germany, Japan and USA weakened and after 11th September. After this tragedy incomes decreased dramatically all over the world by 11%(worst in the Near East-30%). Many countries have taken actions in order to secure tourists, since it is the most important thing today. Tourists will not visit a place where there is no security.

Opis:
ObjectivesCardiovascular and metabolic disorders constitute major health problems in the working populations in Europe. The aim of this project was to evaluate the health condition of workers employed in a Polish research and medical institution, and then to establish the necessary preventive actions by creating a modern model of occupational healthcare integrated with civilization disease (CivD) prevention.Material and MethodsOverall, 100 workers voluntarily participated in a health program for CivD prevention during mandatory prophylactic examinations. Data from these examinations was collected in a system of electronic documentation to enable the analysis of the workers’ health condition and risk factors of CivDs.ResultsWomen accounted for 72% of the employees who voluntarily participated in the prevention program, and 80% of the subjects had university education. As regards the health condition, 27% of the patients had elevated systolic, and 23% diastolic, blood pressure, and 21% had an abnormal fasting glucose level. Stressful job was an important factor correlated with an excessive body mass index, diastolic blood pressure, as well as total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Smoking, sedentary work and a lack of physical activity were significant factors for abdominal obesity. Generally, 94% of the program participants required some further interventions in lifestyle, diagnostics or treatment.ConclusionsCivilization disease prevention should focus on increasing physical activity both in leisure time and at the workplace as far as practicable. There is a need for implementing projects leading to occupational stress reduction and smoking cessation. Men as well as workers with vocational and elementary education need to be recruited for prevention programs dedicated to employees.

Opis:
The article includes the author's considerations on risk of survival and chance to survive of \ individual persons and the human species in conditions of progressive environmental degradation because of the progress of post-industrial civilization, especially the Western one. The development of this civilization is driven by the rapid advances in knowledge and technology, but above all by activities for maximum economic growth and its derivatives - unlimited growth in production, sales and consumption. So, naturally, it is accompanied by excessive destruction of natural resources and degradation of the natural environment, as well as of degradation of the social, cultural and spiritual environment. On the one hand, the consequence of the progress of Western civilization is the growing threat to human health, and thus the increasing risk of survival. On the other hand, thanks to this progress, they improve living conditions and comfort as well as the possibilities of curing many diseases; thus, they increase the chances to survive. The problem, however, is that this increase in risks and chances is not equivalent as they appear many more threats than chances. As a result, this imbalance is getting bigger. Political and economic decision-makers, who can hardly be suspected of a lack of knowledge about environmental threats, are primarily driven by profit maximization and therefore they ignore the appeals from environmentalists. Therefore, since the last decades of the twentieth century, it progress the development of "economic society". It is made up of individuals called "Homo oeconomicus" - fanatical followers of God Mammon. There are serious concerns that it will soon end either with the extinction of humanity or with the collapse of Western civilization. And what happens depends on whether further social evolution will follow economic or other (cultural or ecological) criteria, whether the most important goal will be to improve the quality of life and enrichment, or to delay the extinction of humanity as a result of the transformation of "economic society" into "Cultural society"
