    The Christological doctrine defined during the Chalcedon Council (451) was the point of reference to consolidate the Christian doctrine in the fifth century. It also became the foundation of the evangelizing mission led by the Church in the following centuries. In the context of the new challenges and interpretation a question, whether the Chalcedon doctrine needs to be reinterpreted, arises. This article tries to show the relevance of the Christological dogma which was defined by the Chalcedon Council. The attention is paid to this dogma rooted in the Church Tradition and also to its soteriological and anthropological meaning. The soteriological perspective, which was given the utmost importance during the Chalcedon Council and similarly during other councils held in the first millennium, proves the doctrinal relevance of the dogma and furthermore makes it more meaningful. From the hermeneutic point of view this article presents the need of referring to the principle of theological apophatism in order to interpret the dogma correctly.

    Opis:
    The order founded by St. Francis of Assisi has not been accidentally given the name of Friars Minor. It comes neither from the color of the habit, the place of establishment of the order, nor the type of service or job, but a way of being and living. All the attempts to read how Francis understood the minority from the Christological perspective can be summarized as follows: Brothers of St. Francis will be minor, i.e. serve no desire to dominate others, to give up voluntarily exercise their privilege, to live without the hassles of security, but to rely on Divine Providence. It also means to be ready to take such steps that others are reluctant to carry out, to serve with humility and love, and try to occupy the last place in their environment and to be aware of own non-necessity.
    Zakon założony przez Franciszka z Asyżu nieprzypadkowo otrzymał nazwę braci mniejszych. Nie pochodzi ona ani od koloru habitu, ani od miejsca założenia zakonu, ani od rodzaju posługi lub wykonywanej pracy (np. bracia szpitalni, zakon kaznodziejski, misjonarze), ale od sposobu bycia, od stylu życia. Określa go w istotnej mierze pojęcie minoritas. Tekst stanowi próbę dotarcia do tego, jak je rozumiał sam Franciszek. Rozważania prowadzone w perspektywie chrystologicznej kończą się następującymi wnioskami: bracia św. Franciszka mają być mniejsi, tzn.: służyć bez chęci dominowania nad innymi, rezygnować dobrowolnie z przysługujących im przywilejów, żyć bez szukania zabezpieczeń, ale zdając się na opatrzność Bożą, być gotowi do podejmowania takich czynności, które inni niechętnie wykonują, służyć z pokorą i miłością, starać się zajmować ostatnie miejsce w swoim środowisku, mieć świadomość własnej niekonieczności.

    Composed into the letter of Ignatius of Antioch to the Church of Rome, perhaps the most famous evocation – ho emos eros estaurotai – has a long tradition of interpretation, which being initiated by Origen and taking somewhat turbulent course reaches our times. Its manifestation is visible in the translations themselves, where already from the Latin rendering a significant diversity can be observed, and the wide range of interpretations is being reflected with its spread in the modern translations. Those of Greek Fathers who spoke after Origen essentially upheld the interpretation of the Alexandrian, seeing under eros – as he did – the Christ Himself. Finally they fastened so conceptualized eros in the spiritual theology and inscribed the Ignatius’ evocation into the liturgy of the Eastern Church for ages. However in the Western Church, it seems that the significant influence on the modern interpretation of the Ignatius’ evocation – starting from the nineteenth century – had the ongoing in the background discussion on authenticity of the Antiocher’s letters. The time of extensive research, beyond the contribution to the determination of the middle recension, from exacting blade of critics had adjudicated about fundamental error of Origen and the other Greek Fathers in the interpretation they adopted. The dominance of the newly discovered interpretation coincided with the adoption of middle recension and spreads to the present day. The resulting dissonance to the voice of the ancient Church born an undying question which – although with different intensity at different times – continues resounding. Could the Greek Fathers be so much wrong in taking the comment to the famous Ignatius’ evocation? How is it possible that those for whom the ancient Greek was the language of everyday life, and appropriate for the letters of Ignatius „Sitz im Leben” was the environment in which in the chronological proximity they grew up and lived, diverge from the actual socio-cultural and literary context from the inside of which Ignatius spoke? These and other questions have intrigued many scholars of the last century. It is, perhaps, their echo that outlines a certain circle being formed by modern translations and commentaries, running back to the beginning, to the first interpretations. This movement, presumably, shows unextinguished disagreement for leaving such a significant dissonance to the voice of the ancient Church. Perhaps it is also a hunch that in the content of the Ignatius’ words there is still something else, what more clearly saw the Fathers, and what in some sense remains hidden from modern researchers. By the same token, following the path of these assumptions, the undertaken analysis of the Syrian translation combined with the conclusions of the recent philological study on the Greek text put a question mark on the popular interpretation and allow to hypothesize in a way that is getting closer to the voice of Fathers again. It seems that the meaning of Ignatius’ evocation could have been more positive than it is used to be frequently commented.

    Opowiadając się za dynamiczną koncepcją Kościoła, a zwłaszcza ukazując starotestamentalną i nowotestamentalną eklezjogenezę, autor odchodzi od stanowiska, iż Jezus wprost i bezpośrednio założył Kościół. Stawia nawet tezę: nie to było głównym motywem Jego ziemskiej działalności. W uzasadnieniu prezentuje wspólnotę Bosko-ludzką, której kształt tak zależy od Trójcy Świętej i udzielającego się trynitarnie miłosierdzia, jak i od ludzkiej wolności, wypowiadającej się w świętości i grzechu. Jezus nie tyle bowiem funduje instytucjonalno-charyzmatyczną społeczność, ile przede wszystkim pełni wolę swojego Ojca: „Moim pokarmem jest wypełnić wolę Tego, który Mnie posłał” (J 4,34). Odchodzenie od chrystomonizmu w eklezjologii skutkuje dowartościowaniem trynitologii, eschatologii, pneumatologii, antropologii, mariologii oraz wzmożeniem dążeń misyjnych i ekumenicznych.
    By advocating a dynamic concept of the Church, the author deviates from the position that Jesus directly and openly founded the Church. He even puts forward a thesis: this was not the main motive of His earthly activity. In his argumentation, he presents the divine-human community, whose shape depends both, on God's mercy, as well as on human freedom. Jesus, in fact, does not so much establish the institutional and charismatic community but, above all, does the will of his Father “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me” (Jn 4:34). The departure from christomonism in ecclesiology results in the appreciation of trinitology, eschatology, pneumatology, anthropology, mariology and the intensification of missionary and ecumenical aspirations.

    This article presents a comparative analysis of the use of the terms κοινωνία and μετουσία in Trinitarian, Christological and soteriological as well as sacramental contexts in Gregory of Nyssa's Oratio catechetica magna. As a result, we can discover that Gregory consciously and precisely distinguishes between the concepts under discussion and treats the term κοινωνία as a bridge connecting the disputed topics of dogmatic theology. Moreover, the analysis shows that the Bishop of Nyssa's use of the term κοινωνία betrays his desire to transcend the dialectical understanding of the relationship between unity and difference. Instead of this conception originating in Platonism, Gregory seeks a synthetic account that preserves the autonomy and independence and, simultaneously, the possibility of true unity between God and man. The conclusion of the analysis is the need for further research into the use of the concept of κοινωνία in the works of the youngest of the Cappadocian Fathers.
    Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia analizę porównawczą użycia terminów κοινωνία i μετουσία w kontekstach trynitarnym, chrystologicznym i soteriologicznym, a także sakramentalnym w Oratio catechetica magna Grzegorza z Nyssy. W rezultacie możemy zauważyć, że Grzegorz świadomie i precyzyjnie rozróżnia omawiane pojęcia i traktuje termin κοινωνία jako pomost łączący sporne tematy teologii dogmatycznej. Co więcej, analiza pokazuje, że użycie przez biskupa Nyssy terminu κοινωνία zdradza jego pragnienie przekroczenia dialektycznego rozumienia relacji między jednością a różnicą. Zamiast tej koncepcji wywodzącej się z platonizmu Grzegorz poszukuje syntetycznego ujęcia, które zachowuje autonomię i niezależność, a jednocześnie możliwość prawdziwej jedności między Bogiem a człowiekiem. Konkluzją analizy jest potrzeba dalszych badań nad wykorzystaniem pojęcia κοινωνία w dziełach najmłodszego z ojców kapadockich.
