Opis:
W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie karty sum skumulowanych (CUSUM) oraz karty wykładniczo ważonych ruchomych średnich (EWMA) do wczesnego wykrywania niewielkich zakłóceń procesu produkcyjnego.
The selection of proper SPC charts is essential to effective statistical process control implementation and use. It is important to use best chart for the given situation and need. Using Shewhart quality control charts to detecting small process shill is not effective. This paper shows that the cumulative-sum control charts (CUSUM) and Exponentially Weighted Moving Average control charts (EWMA) are appropriate to detect these shifts.

Digital hydrographic products include the ENC Electronic Navigational Charts and the IENC Inland Electronic Navigational Charts used for inland shipping. The process of IENC production comprises data acquisition and editing. Each object belongs to a class specified in the applicable standards and possesses necessary attributes. IENC cells include, among others, data related to depths in a given water body. Contemporary bathymetric measuring systems allow for saving more and more data of increased quality. Examples of systems characterized by the ability to acquisition high density data are interferometer systems. The authors of this article used GeoSwath Plus 250 kHz sonar system to collect bathymetric data. Bathymetric data included in the IENC cell should be up to date, structured and easy to manage. A piece of software by the ESRI Company, also dedicated to creating hydrographic products, allows to do just that. The authors have used a specialized geodatabase during the IENC production, which made managing bathymetric data easier. The article describes an analysis of the geodatabase’s functionality during the production of electronic navigational chart for inland shipping.

The article considers the advantages of blind interpretation of polygraph charts in the context of subjectivity in polygraph examinations. The purpose of this article is to provoke a discussion on the inclusion of blind scoring in evidentiary examinations as a standard procedure. Resorting to such a method should curb the impact of cognitive bias on interpreting test data as it has been proved empirically that information on the case facts and the examinee, provided to the examiner before the examination, may influence the subsequent interpretation of the charts.

Opis:
The history of the development of military aeronautical charts began immediately before the First World War. The first charts created at that time did not differ much from topographic maps. Air planes were fairly slow back then and had a small range of action, which meant that the charts were developed at the scale of 1:200,000. When speed of aircraft increased, it soon turned out that this scale was too large. Therefore, many countries began to create charts with smaller scales: 1:300,000 and 1:500,000. The International Map of the World 1:1,000,000 (IMW) was frequently used for continental flights prior to the outbreak of the Second World War, while 1:3,500,000 and 1:5,000,000 maps were commonly used for intercontinental flights. The Second World War brought a breakthrough in the field of aeronautical chart development, especially after 7 December 1941, when the USA entered into the war. The Americans created more than 6000 map sheets and published more than 100 million copies, which covered all continents. In their cartographic endeavours, they were aided foremost by the Brits. On the other hand, the Third Reich had more than 1,500 officers and about 15,000 soldiers and civil servants involved in the development of maps and other geographic publications during the Second World War. What is more, the Reich employed local cartographers and made use of local source materials in all the countries it occupied. The Germans introduced one new element to the aeronautical charts – the printed reference grid which made it easier to command its air force. The experience gained during the Second World War and local conflicts was for the United States an impulse to undertake work on the standardization of the development of aeronautical charts. Initially, standardization work concerned only aeronautical charts issued by the US, but after the establishment of NATO, standardization began to be applied to all countries entering the Alliance. The currently binding NATO STANAGs (Standardization Agreements) distinguish between operational charts and special low-flight charts. The charts are developed in the WGS-84 coordinate system, where the WGS-84 ellipsoid of rotation is the reference surface. The cylindrical transverse Mercator projection was used for the scale of 1:250,000, while the conformal conic projection was used for other scales. The first aeronautical charts issued at the beginning of the 20th century contained only a dozen or so special symbols concerning charts’ navigational content, whereas currently the number of symbols and abbreviations found on such charts exceeds one hundred. The updating documents are published every 28 days in order to ensure that aeronautical charts remain up-to-date between releases of their subsequent editions. It concerns foremost aerial obstacles and air traffic zones. The aeronautical charts published by NATO have scales between 1:50,000 and 1:500,000 and the printed Military Grid Reference System (MGRS), while the aeronautical charts at scales between 1:250,000 and 1:2,000,000 contain the World Geographic Reference System (GEOREF). Nowadays, modern military air planes are characterised by their exceptional combat capabilities in terms of speed, range and manoeuvrability. Aside from aircraft, contemporary armed forces make increasingly frequent use of aerial robots, drones and unmanned cruise missiles. This is why, there has been a noticeable increase, especially in NATO, in the amount of work devoted to the standardization and development of aeronautical charts, as well as deepening of knowledge of navigation and aeronautical information.

Media convergence and multimediality of message brought about a situation where journalists and editors of the content posted on the Internet are more and more frequently required to acquire the skills which have never been necessary for them before. It often forces them to become acquainted with professional software and information technology. On the other hand, availability of different databases and Internet applications provides journalists with possibilities of gathering, processing and visualization of data unheard of to date. The objective of the paper was a comparative analysis of selected Web applications generating interactive maps, data charts and diagrams, that may be useful in journalist’s everyday work, in the browser in an automatic way. The conducted research allows concluding that the tested applications may be applied in Internet, citizen or data journalism, that is wherever the concise and attractive form of data visualization is of primary importance.

Opis:

Opis:
Visualization is one of the most important parts of statistical analysis. In this paper we present a new method of multiple bar charts to display the frequencies of data tables split up into conditional relative frequencies of one target variable and the absolute frequencies of the corresponding combinations of the remaining explanatory variables. In this paper we present the R package extracat allowing for new graphical tools: rmp and cpcp plot [Pilhoefer, Unwin 2013]. The first plot uses the a crossover of mosaicplots and multiple barcharts to display the frequencies of a contingency table split up into conditional relative frequencies of one target variable and the absolute frequencies of the corresponding combination of the remaining explanatory variables. It provides a well-structured representation of the data with the possibility of easy interpretation. Another plot presented in the paper is the cpcp plot using parallel coordinates. Sequences of points are used to represent each of the variable categories, while ordering algorithms are applied to represent a hierarchical structure in the dataset.

Opis:
We have investigated the product life-cycles of almost 17 000 hit singles having appeared on the 12 biggest national phonographic markets in Europe including: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. We have considered weekly singles charts from the last 50 years (1966-2015) in each country. We analyzed the spread of hit singles popularity (chart topping) as an epidemiological process, taking place in various European countries. Popularity of the hit singles is contagious in the sense of moving from one country to another. Thus, we consider time delays between the initial hit single release and reaching the highest position on consecutive national singles charts. We create a directed network of countries, this network representing the transmission of the hit singles popularity between countries. This is obtained by simulating the most likely paths and picking up the most frequent links. A country of initial hit single release is considered as a source of infection. Our algorithm builds up the spanning trees by attaching new nodes. The probability of attachment depends on infectivity of previous nodes from the tree corresponding to their: 1) market size; 2) distance in time between the new node and the potential spreaders. Thus, we obtain a network of popularity spread with: a hub – the UK, a bridge – the Netherlands, and outliers – Italy and Spain. We have found a characteristic topology of hit singles popularity spread. On the top of this, the network of popularity spread has some typical properties of complex networks.
