Druga część artykułu została poświęcona analizie barier wprowadzania paliwa wodorowego w Polsce. W tej części została przedstawiona problematyka wolno rozwijającej się polskiej infrastruktury wodorowej oraz brak przepisów regulujących ten rodzaj paliwa. Niniejszy artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy i jego celem jest ukazanie barier oraz ocena wprowadzania wodoru jako paliwa samochodowego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Polski.
The article addresses the issue of the implementation and development of hydrogen fuel in Poland in the near future. The first part offers a detailed description of the types of hydrogen fuel by acquisition technology, information on barriers to the introduction of this technology into the market, and an answer to why hydrogen cars are still not widely used. The second part of the article is devoted to the analysis of barriers to the introduction of hydrogen fuel in Poland. This part presents the problems of the slowly developing Polish hydrogen infrastructure and the lack of regulations governing this type of fuel. This article is a review and its purpose is to present the barriers and evaluate the introduction of hydrogen as an automotive fuel with a special focus on Poland.

W czasach czwartej rewolucji przemysłowej wiele branż staje przed wyzwaniem głębokich dostosowań i budowy nowych modeli biznesowych. Jedną z nich jest sektor ubezpieczeń gospodarczych. Celem tego artykułu jest zbadanie dostosowania się branży ubezpieczeniowej do procesu autonomizacji samochodów. Badanie przeprowadzono na podstawie przeglądu aktualnych publikacji naukowych i specjalistycznych oraz raportów analitycznych podejmujących problematykę zautomatyzowanej mobilności. Wejście na rynek samochodów autonomicznych będzie systematycznie zwiększać znaczenie nowych rodzajów ryzyka, a jednocześnie zmniejszać oddziaływanie ryzyka behawioralnego. Ten proces wykreuje szereg wyzwań (m.in. finansowych, rynkowych czy prawnych), którym będą musiały sprostować zarówno zakłady ubezpieczeń, jak i przedstawiciele władz publicznych. Artykuł identyfikuje nowe obszary i możliwości biznesowe istotne z punktu widzenia przedsiębiorstw.
During the fourth industrial revolution, many industries face the challenge of deep adjustments and building new business models. One of them is the insurance sector. The aim of this article is to examine the adjustment of the insurance industry to the process of autonomization of cars. The study was conducted on the basis of a review of current scientific and specialist publications as well as analytical reports dealing with the issues of automated mobility. The transition to automated mobility will systematically increase the importance of new risks while reducing the impact of behavioral risk. The above process creates a number of challenges (including human resources, management, legal) that will have to be addressed by both insurance companies and representatives of public authorities. The article identifies new areas and business opportunities important from the point of view of enterprises.

Zjawisko elektryfikacji transportu samochodowego jest coraz powszechniejsze i wydaje się nieodwracalne ze względu na nacisk związany z wdrażaniem zrównoważonego rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego. Skala zmian jakościowych transportu samochodowego w tym zakresie jest na tyle duża, że staje się domeną całej Unii Europejskiej, a nie poszczególnych państw. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie trudności związanych z elektryfikacją transportu samochodowego. Uzasadniono, że ta gałąź transportu odgrywa także rolę w zmianach na rynku energii. Przemiany związane ze zrównoważonym rozwojem następują systematycznie, czego oczekuje społeczeństwo i organy regulacyjne UE, jednak trudny okres gospodarczy ostatnich lat spowalnia przemiany związane z rozpowszechnianiem elektromobilności. W procesie wdrażania elektromobilności znaczenie mają również infrastrukturalne uwarunkowania rozwoju transportu samochodowego, co wpływa na kierunek, siłę i skalę zmian jakościowych.
The phenomenon of electrification of motor transport is more and more common and seems to be irreversible due to the pressure related to the implementation of sustainable socio-economic development. The scale of qualitative changes in motor transport in this area is so significant that it becomes the domain of the entire European Union, not individual countries. The aim of the article is to present the current difficulties related to the electrification of motor transport. It was justified that this branch of transport plays an important role in the research on qualitative changes in the energy market. Changes related to sustainable development are taking place systematically, which is expected by the society and EU regulatory authorities, but the difficult economic period of recent years is slowing down the changes related to the dissemination of electromobility. In the process of implementing electromobility, the infrastructural conditions for the development of motor transport are also important, which affects the direction, strength and scale of qualitative changes in the field of electromobility.

Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) are expected to introduce numerous benefits for future mobility. These potential benefits and many others vary substantially by the market share of AVs. Therefore, this research empirically estimates, using the Gompertz function, the projected growth rates of passenger vehicles in Hungary using historical patterns of human-driven vehicle ownership data based on projected per capita GDP. This study’s contribution to the literature is through a mathematical approach that predicts passenger cars market penetration rate, in which the assumptions and the used parameters of the model can be easily modified based on different case studies, or they can be updated due to the advancement in technology and progress in knowledge of the studied market.

As awareness regarding ecology increases among drivers, some characteristics of electric vehicles mean that they attract a greater interest. The basic factors determining the demand for electric cars include their pricing, access to charging stations and the cost per 1 kWh. Considering the above, the aim of this paper is to review the current areas of research into renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar energy and energy derived from vertical displacements of the car body associated with road roughness. The use of such solutions will allow the battery to be charged while the vehicle is in motion and extend the time of travel without stopping the vehicle for charging. The publication forms an overview of findings in the area and the scope of the research reported here relate to the most recent research. For this purpose, reviews of academic and industrial literature were carried out.

Polska jest jednym z największych rynków samochodów osobowych w Europie pod względem sprzedaży, zajmując szóste miejsce wśród krajów Unii Europejskiej i Europejskiego Stowarzyszenia Wolnego Handlu. Chociaż we flocie samochodów osobowych w Polsce dominują obecnie samochody z silnikami spalinowymi, kraj jest zaangażowany w zwiększanie liczby i udziału elektrycznych samochodów osobowych. Prawie 12 300 elektrycznych samochodów osobowych jeździło po polskich drogach do czerwca 2020 r. Ponad 56% z nich stanowiły pojazdy elektryczne na baterie (BEV). W niniejszym artykule zebrano informacje dotyczące stosowanych w samochodach elektrycznych systemów zarządzania temperaturą baterii. Przedstawiono sposoby chłodzenia z wykorzystaniem powietrza, czynnika chłodniczego, różnego rodzaju cieczy, materiałów o przemianie fazowej oraz systemu opartego na rurkach cieplnych, a także z zastosowaniem elementu termoelektrycznego. W czasie eksploatacji pojazdów BEV należy zwrócić szczególną uwagę na systemy zarządzania temperaturą baterii. Temperatura baterii wywiera różnorodny wpływ na działanie układu elektrochemicznego, co przekłada się na moc i efektywność energetyczną, bezpieczeństwo i niezawodność oraz koszt i okres użytkowania. W celu zapewnienia długiej żywotności i optymalnej wydajności baterii litowo-jonowych, należy zadbać o optymalny zakres temperatur oraz jednolity rozkład temperatury w pakiecie baterii i ogniwach.
Poland is one of the largest passenger car markets in Europe in terms of sales, ranking sixth place among the countries of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association. Although the passenger car fleet in Poland is currently dominated by cars with internal combustion engines, the country is committed to increasing the number and share of electric passenger cars. Almost 12 300 electric passenger cars were on Polish roads until June 2020. Over 56% of them were battery electric vehicles (BEV). This article gathers information on the temperature management systems used in electric cars. Cooling methods with the use of air, refrigerant, various types of liquids, materials with phase change and a system based on heat pipes as well as the use of a thermoelectric element were presented. When operating BEVs, particular attention should be paid to battery temperature management systems. Battery temperature has a variety of effects on the operation of the electrochemical system, which translates into power and energy efficiency, safety and reliability, cost and lifetime. In order to ensure the long life and optimal performance of lithium-ion batteries, care should be taken to ensure the optimal temperature range and uniform temperature distribution in the battery pack and cells.

Mythology plays an important part of the role of the American automobile, less so in terms of its primary function that is transportation, more so in terms of an ancillary purpose: its metaphorical significance to both owner or operator and the onlooking public. Across much of the 20th century and continuing now into the third decade of the 21st century, the American automobile has undergone many design changes that have buttressed its metaphorical significance: become streamlined, gained then lost then partially regained size together with a colorful exterior, and in the 21st century become focused on an array of interior gadgets, some cast into hibernation because of an electronic chip scarcity resulting from trade wars and the Covid-19 pandemic. Many Americans seem to have almost become besotted by automobiles, including their own and those driven by others, because in some respects the American automobile has come to define its driver. Automobiles in the United States that are visually appealing symbolize affluence, material success, preoccupation with speed, including the rapid pace of social change, as well as, at least arguably, a lesser regard for protecting the environment. On balance, in the mindset of many Americans, the automobile is larger than life, “a mode of signification, a form” in contrast to a mere machine. Change in automotive design has been heralded as the talisman of a new generation of drivers. However, what is cause and what is effect? American automobiles conflate myth and reality; that which is together with that which might be sometime temporal frustrations with the American Dream.

Even though Baudrillard’s catchy piece of advice as for the most effective method of exploring America’s landscapes (both real and imaginary) comes from his postmodernist travelogue limited to its titular country, it is probably difficult for anyone interested in contemporary car cultures not to extend Baudrillard’s praise of the driving experience and perceive it in cognitive rather than transportation terms, not necessarily bounded by national borders. True, American driving culture and all its related contexts—its remarkable history, its contribution to social mobility, its spectacular cars, its mythologies, the list goes on and on—is not only the oldest one historically, but—given its ties with American life-styles, politics, social stratification and the overall consumerist mindset—also the most extreme one. From Henry Ford’s Model T storming millions of American households at the beginning of the 20th century to Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster shot into space in the second decade of the following one, cars have shaped American horizons, both private and collective, like no other machine. This introductory text presents the concept of the present issue of RIAS as well as the concepts underlying its feature texts.

Opis:
The research on improvement of methodical approaches to definition of the probable reasons of infringement of conditions of stability of freight cars from derailment is carried out. Using a basic computer model of the dynamics of a freight car, the influence of the characteristics of the technical condition of their running gear and track on the indicators of empty cars stability from derailment was studied through the computational experiment. The article presents the main statements of the research methodology, which provides the analysis of probable causes of derailment of freight cars by conducting a series of numerical experiments with logging the progress of calculations and saving the results. Factor analysis was used to interpret the calculated data with an assessment of each of the factors influence or their combination on the probability of derailment. The developed procedure of the simulation experiment provides a step-by-step study of the freight cars derailment conditions, including factors structuring and ranking, development of experimental plan, calculating coefficients of wheel pairs resistance to derailment from rails, provided that the wheel flange rolls onto the rail head, and determining the degree of influence of relevant factors on the dynamic stability of cars from derailment. A comparative analysis of the stability of cars in rail tracks was performed using the introduced concept of the combined coefficient of stability of wheel pairs against derailment. Determining the probable causes of car derailment is based on scanning the parameter field. The results of the parametric study revealed the degree of influence on the freight cars stability of running gear technical condition characteristics. In particular, it is determined that the most dangerous in terms of stability loss of empty cars in the track is the exceeding of the wedges of the vibration dampers.

Transport samochodowy odgrywa obecnie ważną rolę w rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczym kraju. Nie zmienia to faktu, iż należy przeciwdziałać kosztom zewnętrznym transportu samochodowego i brać pod uwagę tę gałąź transportu we wszelkich strategiach zrównoważonego rozwoju. Jedną z możliwości jest wdrożenie na szerszą skalę samochodów elektrycznych w całym parku samochodowym. Infrastruktura i flota pojazdów elektrycznych może być potencjalnym elementem polskiego rynku energii. W artykule przedstawiono aktualne trudności związane z upowszechnianiem elektromobilności transportu samochodowego, które wpływają na niewielką liczbę tego typu pojazdów na rynku. Niski udział samochodów elektrycznych wpływa z kolei na mniejsze możliwości ich wykorzystania jako elementu polskiego rynku energii, przynajmniej w perspektywie najbliższych kilku lat.
Motor transport currently plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the country. It does not change the fact that the negative external costs of motor transport should be eliminated and this branch of transport should be taken into account in all sustainable development strategies. One possibility is the wider deployment of electric cars across the entire car fleet. The infrastructure and fleet of electric vehicles may be a potential element of the Polish energy market. The article presents the current difficulties related to the dissemination of electromobility in motor transport, which affect the small number of such vehicles present on the market. The low share of electric cars, in turn, reduces the possibility of their use as an element of the Polish energy market, at least in the next several years.

Popularność leasingu w Polsce przekłada się na wzrost wszystkich segmentów tego rynku. Różna jest jednak dynamika poszczególnych segmentów i ich struktura. Szczególnie szybko rośnie udział segmentu pojazdów lekkich i właśnie rynek motoryzacyjny posiada tu największe znaczenie. Coraz ważniejszą rolę odgrywają projekty inwestycyjne związane z ochroną środowiska i dlatego firmy leasingowe oferują finansowanie firmom, zwłaszcza z sektora małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w zakresie urządzeń i materiałów energooszczędnych. Projekty te mają pozytywny wpływ na polską gospodarkę i zwiększają konkurencyjność przedsiębiorstw, jak i zmniejszają dwutlenek węgla w naszym kraju. W opracowaniu sformułowano następującą hipotezę: że leasing ma istotny wpływ na wzrost użytkowania samochodów elektrycznych oraz jest najpopularniejszą formą korzystania z tych pojazdów. Po przeprowadzeniu analizy stwierdzono, że postawiona hipoteza została potwierdzona. Leasing zajmuje obecnie w Polsce niekwestionowaną, wysoką pozycję w finansowaniu działalności przedsiębiorstw.
The popularity of leasing in Poland translates into the growth of all segments of this market. However, the dynamics of individual segments and their structure differ. The share of the light vehicle segment is growing particularly fast and it is the automotive market that is of the greatest importance here. Environmental investment projects are playing an increasingly important role and that is why leasing companies offer financing to companies, especially from the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, in the field of energysaving equipment and materials. These projects have a positive impact on the Polish economy and increase the competitiveness of enterprises, as well as reduce carbon dioxide in our country. The study formulates the following hypothesis: that leasing has a significant impact on the increase in the use of electric cars and is the most popular form of using these vehicles. After conducting the analysis, it was found that the thesis was confirmed. Leasing currently occupies an unquestionable, high position in Poland in financing the activities of enterprises.

The article opens with an autoethnographic account of its author's encounter with the American sense of space in the context of the clash of his own and American cultural norms related to car ownership and car use. The initial anecdotes, in which the negative experiences of the authors lack of knowledge of the essentials of the car culture in the US prove to be instrumental in the process of learning and adaptation, lead to a more profound, historiosophic reflection upon the cars as vehicles of ethics across American cultural history.

Opis:
The article takes the form of a review paper and focuses on the control problems of four wheel steering vehicles. The main issues related to the control of four wheel steering (4WS) vehicles, the historical development, the current state and the approach to the construction of 4WS vehicles have been discussed. The whole of theoretical issues related to the control of the car direction (including elements related to mathematical modelling and simulation studies of the vehicle motion, issues of synthesis and analysis of the 4WS control algorithms) were presented systemically. The presented collection of literature is based on a rather extensive review relating to 4WS cars and on considerations shaping the concept of development of the topic of control algorithms in 4WS cars. A preliminary concept of control in autonomous cars is also presented and will be explain what type of road manoeuvres it is going to analyse. The authors have also shown an example of the computational apparatus used.

The heyday of ‘Redneck’ cinema—the 1970s to early 1980s, saw the rise of the Redneck Rebel—a Southern or otherwise ‘hick’ anti-hero who rode around the countryside like a modern-day cowboy vanquishing evil. His ‘horse’ was his car—a beefed up/souped up muscle car that often became the star of the show and overshadowed the anti-hero himself. This article examines the Redneck Rebel through the lens of one American TV series—The Dukes of Hazzard. This popular 1980s TV series, along with its antecedents and contemporaries, underscore several important points that reinforce typical conservative American virtues: freedom, fighting the ‘good fight,’ an overt heterosexuality, a particular reveling in a sarcastic ‘sticking out the tongue’ at the overly sophisticated, overly arrogant, ‘anti-American,’ and well-heeled parts of American society.

The rapid development of e-mobility technology and the systematically increasing number of fully electric or hybrid cars does cause the increase in the number of electromagnetic field sources and electromagnetic emissions in the environment. The article presents the results of the recognition and evaluation of the exposure to electromagnetic field related to the use of fully electric or hybrid passenger cars in the context of literature data and own research.
