Opis:
The Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis undoubtedly contributed to a more intense proclamation of the truth about God’s mercy and the development of various forms of the cult of God’s mercy in the Church. In the context of this event, another question arises: how can this jubilee contribute to the revitalization of the Church’s charitable service in Poland? The present study attempts to answer this question. Its main sources are documents of the contemporary Church, especially the teaching of Pope Francis. The author presents mercy as a principle of pastoral care, because mercy is to permeate all the basic functions of the Church (kerygma-marytria, leiturgia, diakonia). Then, based on the data of the Central Statistical Office in Warsaw, he analyzes the current state of poverty in Poland. In the final part of the article, he indicates the criteria of the ministerial Church. In the author’s conviction, the application of these criteria is a condition for the successful implementation of the Church’s charitable service in Poland.
Ogłoszony przez papieża Franciszka Rok Miłosierdzia niewątpliwie przyczynił się do intensywniejszego głoszenia prawdy o miłosierdziu Bożym oraz do rozwoju różnych form kultu miłosierdzia Bożego w Kościele. W kontekście tego wydarzenia rodzi się inne pytanie, w jaki sposób ów jubileusz mógł się przyczynić do ożywienia posługi charytatywnej Kościoła w Polsce? Próbę odpowiedzi na to pytanie stanowi niniejsze opracowanie, a jego źródłem podstawowym są współczesne dokumenty Kościoła, szczególnie nauczanie papieża Franciszka. Autor przedstawia najpierw miłosierdzie jako zasadę duszpasterstwa, gdyż miłosierdzie ma przenikać wszystkie funkcje podstawowe Kościoła (kerygma-marytria, leiturgia, diakonia). Następnie na podstawie danych Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego w Warszawie analizuje aktualny stan ubóstwa w Polsce. W finalnej części artykułu wskazuje kryteria Kościoła służebnego. W przekonaniu autora stosowanie tych kryteriów jest warunkiem pomyślnej realizacji posługi charytatywnej Kościoła w Polsce.

The beginning of the new century brought liveliness in the interest of ethics in the world of business as well as among the organizations involved in the charitable activities, education and health. Caritas in Poland undertook many actions serving development of morality and religiosity of its full time workers and volunteers. Caring for spiritual, religious and ethical dimension of work, Caritas desires to deepen the motivation of their activities and enriches their actions with the evangelical meaning. Calls for attention to see the difference between philanthropy and christian mercy, which is the duty of every believer. Underlines the role of faith, hope and christian love in activities undertaken for the poor. We present in this article the rich teaching of John Paul II and Benedict XVI regarding voluntary work. The Popes explain, that in the work of Caritas counts professionalism of course, but even more the love for the poor, elderly, sick and handicapped. That love gives sense of diakonia in the Church. Shows how it is important for Caritas workers and volunteers to respect the ethical Code as well as their religious formation. The ethical Code portrays values important to workers and volunteers of Caritas, influencing their attitude towards others. We underline the necessity of placing the moral requirements for all those involved in the charity work in the Church and on behalf of the Church.

Opis:
Caritas of Elk Diocese celebrates the 25th anniversary of its activity. From the beginning it helps in a material and spiritual way to the poor and to those who are in need. Caritas runs many specialist units. Caritas takes care of the development of Caritas units in schools and in parishes in its diocese. Spiritual-ity biased on faith is what distinguish Caritas from other nongovernmental or-ganizations that bring help to different social groups like: poor, sick, elderly, orphans, homeless, unemployed and socially excluded because of their poverty. The main motive for Caritas’ activities is servant to the poor people in the same way we would do it to the Christ. Reference to the Christ, imitation of Christ’s example, his respect for poor people and to the spirit of solidarity and brother-hood with poor are the main points of reference in spiritual formation of Cari-tas’ employees and volunteers. Caritas of Elk Diocese takes care of ecclesial identity in its works of mer-cy. Caritas takes care not only of material and spiritual forms of help but also about christian character of its activities. This article talks about basic spirituality of Caritas, mainly the need of religious and moral formation of employees and volunteers who works for Caritas in Elk. In reference to the latest states of popes it was shown the evan-gelic sources of Caritas’ spirituality, moral imperative of the responsibility for poor and attributes of the church’s charitable activity such as: unselfishness, respect for the human’s dignity and its rights, gratefulness and solidarity.

The diocesan Caritas in Poland for several years pay special attention to religious and moral formation of its employees and volunteers. The Catechism, which appeared in the Year of faith, announced by the pope Benedict XVI, is shaping the ethical and religious attitudes of employees. The Catechism presents work in Caritas as a form of realization of the Christian vocation. All believers, especially Caritas workers should get involved in the charity work and the deeds of love of neighbor. The fourth part of the Catechism deals with the religious motives of work in Caritas. In this article, the author describes the style of work in diocesan Caritas, moral duties and the spirit of mercy, which should characterize those, who assist neighbors in need. Appearing moral obligations as well as ethical and moral silhouette of workers, the author tries to encourage them to permanent work over oneself and deepen of personal faith.

John Paul II beatified Marianna Biernacka in June 13, 1999 in Warsaw. She belongs to 108 martyrs of the World War II. Marianna Biernacka (1888-1943) she was a simple country woman. She offered her life for her daughter-in-law, by asking the German soldier, to be arrested instead of her daughter-in-law and she saved her life. The Caritas of Ełk Dioceses from the time of her beatification places her as an example for workers and volunteers. In a special way underlines her diligence, humility, patience and bravery, which were manifested during her life. Marianna suffered a lot, but remained joyful and confident in God. In this article the religious silhouette and main features of her spirituality has been shown. The author encourages all volunteers to imitate the Blessed Marianna. Gives answer to a question: in which way she may be an example for contemporary volunteers. Passes over the main aims and methods of developing volunteers of Caritas to the love of neighbor and to the mercy.

Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie, na przykładzie osoby ks. Stanisława Owczarka (1905-1981), roli, jaką „księża patrioci” pełnili w działalności Zrzeszenia Katolików „Caritas”. Ksiądz Owczarek był kapłanem archidiecezji warszawskiej, aktywnym działaczem ugrupowania „księży postępowych”, jednym z nielicznych, którzy angażowali się w obu odsłonach ruchu: w Komisji Księży przy Związku Bojowników o Wolność i Demokrację oraz w Zrzeszeniu Katolików „Caritas”. W swoich wspomnieniach pt. Być zaangażowanym - być księdzem, które wydano drukiem już po jego śmierci, opisał meandry powstania oraz funkcjonowania Caritas pod auspicjami komunistów. Krytyczna analiza autobiografii ks. Owczarka jako źródła do badań nad historią ruchu tzw. księży patriotów może przynieść odpowiedź na pytanie, dlaczego duchowni rzymskokatoliccy, wbrew swoim zwierzchnikom, decydowali się na współpracę z komunistami. Chociaż praca ze wspomnieniami jako źródłem historycznym niesie za sobą wiele niebezpieczeństw, to konfrontacja z innymi źródłami archiwalnymi oraz obecnym stanem wiedzy o historii Zrzeszenia Katolików „Caritas” może pozwolić na nowe spojrzenie na ten temat oraz stanowić zachętę do dalszych badań.
The goal of this article is to ascertain the role of patriot priests in the Association of Catholics Caritas on the basis of priest Stanisław Owczarek (1905–1981). Priest Stanisław served in the Warsaw archdiocese and was an active member of both sides of the patriot priests movement, in the Committee of Priests (pol. KK) attached to Society of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy (pol. ZBoWiD) and in the Association of Catholics Caritas (pol. ZKC). In his memories called Być zaangażowanym – być księdzem, which were printed after his death, he described the meandering process of the founding of Caritas with the communist blessing. A critical analysis of priest Owczarek’s autobiography as a historical source on patriot priests may bring the answers as to why the Roman Catholic clergy decided to work with the communists, despite the disapproval of their superiors. Even though using someone’s memories as a historical source is dangerous, when compared to other archival sources and the current information on Association of Catholics Caritas, it may bring a new outlook on this subject and may encourage a further study

Działania te oznaczają nowy rodzaj wolontariatu, zmieniają postawy obywatelskie w obu krajach, ale także przyczyniają się do rozwoju kościoła poza podstawową odpowiedzialnością społeczną.
The large number of refugees in Ukraine is changing the charitable commitment in Poland and Germany. Institutional Caritas is responding with special programmes to support volunteers who work with refugees. These measures stand for a new volunteerism, for a changed civil society in both countries, but also for a church development out of social responsibility.

The term love appears to be one of the most often used and abused as well. Franciszek Sawicki, one of the most important Polish philosophers, noticed this fact almost a century ago. The article presents his analyses embracing the nature of love as an act in which human person in whole its integrity gets involved, indicating at the same time the inseparable bond between love and truth.

Chrześcijańska wizja miłości, tak głęboko personalistyczna i podkreślająca wyraźnie, że nie można przeciwstawiać miłości do Boga i miłości bliźniego, nie może nie uwzględniać społecznej natury człowieka. Jeśli miłość stanowi centrum życia chrześcijanina, a zarazem wskazuje na specyfikę jego powołania i posłannictwa, to nie sposób sobie wyobrazić, żeby ta fundamentalna perspektywa życiowa nie znalazła właściwego wyrazu w odniesieniu do życia społecznego. Ta miłość powinna wyrażać się w wielu postawach społecznych, nade wszystko w tych, które uznaje się za fundamentalne zasady życia społecznego. W codziennym życiu społecznym ważna jest umiejętność wcielania w życie zasad miłości. Chodzi tu o bardzo wiele konkretnych postaw. W niniejszej refleksji omówiono – w świetle encyklik Deus caritas est i Caritas in veritate papieża Benedykta –  zagadnienie miłości w trzech aspektach: miłość w mikro-relacjach, miłość a sprawiedliwość w makro-relacjach oraz miłość a dobro wspólne w makro-relacjach.
The Christian vision of love, so deeply personalistic and clearly emphasizing that the love of God and the love of neighbour cannot be opposed, has to take the social nature of man into account. If love is the centre of the Christian life and also points to the specificity of its vocation and mission, then it is impossible to imagine that this fundamental life perspective does not find the right expression in relation to social life. This love should be expressed in a number of social attitudes, especially in those which are considered fundamental principles of social life. The ability to enact the principles of love is important in everyday social life. It involves multiple specific attitudes. This paper discusses – in the light of the encyclical Deus Caritas Est and Caritas in veritate by Pope Benedict XVI - the issue of love in three aspects: love in micro-relations, love and justice in macro-relations and love as a common good in macro-relations.  
Die christliche Sicht der Liebe, eine zutiefst personalistische und eindeutig betonende, zeigt, dass man der Liebe zu Gott und zu den Menschen nichts entgegensetzen darf, muss ihrerseits die soziale Natur des Menschen berücksichtigen. Wenn die Liebe das Zentrum des christlichen Lebens bildet und gleichzeitig auf die Spezifik seiner Berufung und Sendung verweist, bleibt es unvorstellbar, dass diese fundamentale Lebensperspektive auch im sozialen Leben ihre eigene Ausdrucksweise nicht finden könnte. Diese Liebe muss sich in vielen sozialen Haltungen äußern, vor allem in jenen, die man für fundamentale Prinzipien des gesellschaftlichen Lebens hält. Im täglichen sozialen Leben ist die Fähigkeit wichtig, die Grundsätze der Liebe in die Praxis umzusetzen. Es geht um viele konkrete Haltungen. Im Artikel wurde die Liebe im Licht der beiden Enzykliken von Papst Benedikt XVI. Deus caritas est und Caritas in veritate in drei Aspekten behandelt: Liebe in Mikro-Relationen, Liebe und Gerechtigkeit in Makro-Relationen sowie der Zusammenhang zwischen Liebe und Gemeinwohl in Makro-Relationen.

The Church is called to keep on recognizing the signs of the times and, in connection with them, to carry out her intrinsic tasks expressing her inner nature: the proclamation of the word of God, the sacraments and the ministry of charity. The present pontificate is one of the signs of the times and its priority is the preferential love of the poor. This very priority is an indication for the contemporary mission of the Church, especially for her preaching. This paper points out the necessary link between the present ministry of the word, and the preferential love for the poor. The subject is based on the example of Jesus of Nazareth, the ministry of the apostles and the experience of the Church in patristic times. At the end the constitutive elements of Christian love for the poor are discussed. They should be very often present in preaching.
Kościół musi rozpoznawać znaki czasu i w związku z nimi realizować swoje zadania wyrażające jego wewnętrzną naturę, a więc przepowiadanie słowa Bożego, sprawowanie sakramentów i posługę miłości. Niewątpliwym znakiem czasu jest pontyfikat papieża z Buenos Aires, który przyjmując po raz pierwszy w dziejach papiestwa imię biedaczyny z Asyżu, wskazał priorytet swojego pontyfikatu: preferencyjną miłość do ubogich. Jest to zarazem wskazanie, jaki powinien być priorytet całego Kościoła. W związku z tym na kanwie przykładu Jezusa z Nazaretu, posługi apostołów i doświadczenia Kościoła w czasach patrystycznych omówiony został konieczny związek współczesnej posługi słowa z preferencyjną miłością do ubogich oraz konstytutywne elementy miłości chrześcijańskiej do ubogich, które powinny być częstym tematem w przepowiadaniu.

Jaki jest główny sens słowa „caritas”? Na to pytanie autor stara się odpowiedzieć za pomocą metody analizy strukturalnej tekstu. Przeszukał i poddał analizie ilościowej kluczowe pojęcia z zakresu nauki o caritas w Ewangelii św. Marka i w innych dokumentach norm eklezjalnych. Końcowy wynik analiz wskazuje, iż pojęcie „caritas” oznacza przede wszystkim aktywność i odpowiedzialność. W dru-giej części tego artykułu zostały podane pewne wskazówki, jak zrealizować tę odpowiedzialność i działanie w zakresie działalności charytatywnej Kościoła.
What is the main sense of the word Caritas? We try to answer with the method of the text analysis. We search the key worlds in the Gospel of Marc and in different documents of ecclesial norms (Encyclical Deus Caritas Est, Motu propio Intima Ecclesiae Natura). The end-result is: Caritas mean: activity and responsibility. In the second part of our article we give some advises how to realize this responsibility and activity. Opis:
After the end of World War II, in 1950, the Caritas division, established as a Catholic organization, was converted into a lay institution governed by the Caritas Catholic Association, a communist body. The activity of this new formation was focused on helping those in need and on providing aid to the poorest. The division took over Caritas’ entire property. Among the facilities now governed by the institution were kindergartens. In Kielce itself, there were 21 kindergartens managed by the Association. The article presents the resources of particular facilities governed by the Caritas Catholic Association, the principles of their functioning, the methods of work with the wards, and the scale of care provided to pre-schoolers in the then Kieleckie Voivodeship.
Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej w 1950 roku doszło do przekształcenia dotychczasowego katolickiego Caritasu w świeckie, całkowicie podległe władzy komunistycznej Zrzeszenie Katolików Caritas. Zakres działalności nowego tworu miał sprowadzać się do pomagania najbardziej potrzebującym oraz udzielania wsparcia najbiedniejszym. ZKC przejął cały zastany majątek Caritasu. Wśród placówek, które były pod jego zarządem, znalazły się też przedszkola. W Kielcach w omawianym okresie pod zarządem ZKC pozostawało 21 placówek wychowania przedszkolnego. W artykule opisano, jakim zapleczem dysponowały placówki podległe ZKC , zasady ich funkcjonowania, metody pracy z wychowankami, przedstawiono ponadto specyfikę ówczesnego personelu pedagogicznego oraz skalę świadczonej opieki wobec dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym w ówczesnym województwie kieleckim.

This paper is an attempt to outline the scope and effects of Pope Benedict XVI’s first encyclical Deus Caritas Est more than ten years after its publication in January 2006. It depicts the context of this encyclical within the papal Magisterium since Vatican II and the scope of this document as a call for the Church to readjust Herself according to the hierarchy of truths and to focus on the basic elements of Christian faith in order to renew Herself in Her mission in the service of love. In order to achieve more of the desired effects of both Pope Benedict’s and Pope Francis’ pastoral Magisterium for the renewal of the Church and also of theology, the theological curriculum needs to integrate Caritas Science as a theological discipline which studies this essential dimension of the Church from both theological and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Opis:
Charity activity in the parish it is a charity service based on the God’s commandment of love, appropriate to needs of people who suffer financial or spiritual poverty, aimed at bringing help in living decent quality of life. The motive for activity and the charity service comes out of the commandment of the love to a neighbor and desire for imitating the Christ (Luke 10,30−36). Service to poor and suffering people is an evidence of faithfulnesses to the Gospel and is a continuation of the rich charity tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. Concern about the poor and needing people carried on in the organized and scheduled way exemplifies the solidarity in the Christ with the poor people.
