The aim of the article is to analyze “criticism” and “understanding” in their relation to philosophical counseling. The article begins by the thesis on the need to define this type of counseling as an equivalent relationship between a counselor and a client. This claim is based mainly on the Socratic sense of the essence of philosophizing as a common pursuit of wisdom and cognition. Next, criticism and understanding which seem to be abstract concepts that belong to specific doctrines are considered as useful tools in the process of creating a philosophical attitude. In this sense, they acquire their existential aspect and prove useful in the practical application of philosophy.

The author presents and comments polish critic literature concerning works of Peter Vyazemsky. Peter Vyazemsky was a poet, literary critic, publicist, letter writer appreciated for his talent, liberal views. Pushkin’s friend became familiar with polish language, literature and culture thanks to his stay in Poland. Vyazemsky lived in our country for three years (1818–1821), he worked as a civil servant in Novosilcev’s chancellery in Warsaw. The poet had many polish friends such as Adam Mickiewicz, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Ignacy Krasicki. The stay in Poland formed Vyazemsky’s liberal views which he expressed in many of his works.

The article is an overview of Polish translations of Italian literature published between 2000 and 2020. The presentation aims to capture the characteristic phenomena of the domestic market of translations from Italian to Polish in times dominated by capitalism and the new media. The author contemplates the role of the reviewer/literary critic in these new conditions, and asks whether reviewers/literary critics can still drive the readers’ choices and receptions, and shape their knowledge and awareness.

Epifaniusz z Salaminy, przedstawiając sektę herodian, wskazuje na to, iż uznają oni króla Heroda za Chrystusa, namaszczonego lwa z pokolenia Judy, który jest dla nich nadzieją i wyczekiwanym wybawcą. Swoją wiarę opierają na tekście z Księgi Rodzaju. Jednakże Epifaniusz kontrargumentuje, iż żaden z narodów nie pokładał ufności w Herodzie oraz nikt nie widział, aby ten był w stanie ocalić ludzi poprzez ofiarę z samego siebie. Dlatego też Epifaniusz przestrzega przed pójściem za poglądami herodian. Biskup Salaminy wskazuje ponadto, iż grupa herodian o wiele za daleko posunęła się w interpretowaniu tekstu Pisma Świętego. Nie dosyć, że nie brali oni pod uwagę całego kontekstu, zarówno bliższego, jak i dalszego, wybranych przez siebie fragmentów, to jeszcze próbowali je tak wyjaśniać, aby przypodobać się panującemu władcy – Herodowi. To pokazuje, iż ich egzegeza była w pełni podporządkowana politycznym celom i nie miała nic wspólnego z poszukiwaniem prawdy i Boskich zasad. W obecnych opracowaniach dotyczących stronnictw żydowskich z czasów Jezusa Chrystusa nie pojawia się w odniesieniu do herodian wzmianka dotycząca ich wiary, jakoby Herod był wyczekiwanym Chrystusem. Widać więc, że ich działalność polityczna była o wiele bardziej rozwinięta niż ich wiara w zbawczą rolę dynastii herodiańskiej. Jako stronnictwo byli oni wierni dynastii reprezentowanej przez Heroda Wielkiego, dzięki któremu awansowali w hierarchii społecznej. W poglądach religijnych byli zbliżeni do faryzeuszy, przez co wspólnymi siłami próbowali zwalczyć groźnego w ich przekonaniu przeciwnika, jakim był Jezus Chrystus.

Not quite they didn’t take into consideration the entire, both closer and more distant context, of fragments chosen by oneself, still tried this way to explain them in order to ingratiate oneself ruling master, Herod. It is showing that their exegesis fully was subordinated to political purposes and not had anything to do with seeking the truth and Divine principles. Dating back to the Jesus of the Christ with reference to Herodian mention concerning their beliefs isn’t turning up at current studies concerning Jewish parties, that Herod was a waited Christ. So one can see, that their political activity was far more developed than, their faith in the salutary soil of the dynasty of Herod. As the party they were faithful of dynasty represented by Great Herod, thanks to which they were promoted in the social hierarchy. In religious views they were similar to pharisees, by what with shared powers tried to fight dangerous, in convincing them, of opponent a Jesus Christ was which.

The article is devoted to the research of the ideas and characters in the works of Ukrainian classic writers from the position of early Dmytro Dontsov as a literary critic. The creative work of this scholar differs from the works of his contemporaries and followers (M. Zerov, M. Dry-Khmara, M. Evshan and etc). The particular place in his literary critique has his interpretation of creative work of the Ukrainian writers as Lesya Ukrainian and Taras Shevchenko. The appraisal of the creative work of Lesya Ukrainian had been given and written in the articles as Poetry o f Individualism, Lesya Ukrainian and Poetics o f Ukrainian Risordzhiment (Lesya Ukrainian). A lot of studies of D. Dontsov such as Compact Majority and Shevchenko, Cossack from the million of swineherds, In March Anniversary, Shevchenko and Dragomanov and etc. have not been scrutinized in literary criticism. In these writings the new literary critical principles, approaches, interesting ideas, characters and conceptions were represented. These articles are the interesting attempts to show the weltanschauung of Lesya Ukrainian and Taras Shevchenko by analyzing the main characters of the works and the ideas of the great Ukrainian classics.

Countries can check the performance of their logistics’ activities to deter- mine their competitiveness in trade logistics. One way to check these performances is to analyze the country’s LPI value in detail which is released by the WB every two years. When calculating the LPI, six indicators (criteria) are taken into account. The weights (importance level) of these criteria are important for countries which would like to focus more on the most important criteria and move their ranking up in the LPI list. However the WB takes into account indicators (criteria) weights equally when calculating LPI values. In order to overcome this problem some studies have used sub- jective weighting methods and others have used objective weighting methods. Both methods have advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this study is to integrate two weighting methods (subjective (SWARA) and objective (CRITIC)) in determining the weights of criteria in order to balance the two weighting methods. Unlike other stud- ies in the literature this study combines two weighting methods. Additionally the PIV method, which is seldom used to address any MCDM problem, is used in this study and a new integrated MCDM model is introduced to literature. In this respect this study contributes to the literature.

Saint Jerome in the battle of pelagianism not differed essentially from other theologians of grace, for example St. Augustine. However Vulgata’s author had the opportunity to meet with Pelagius earlier than Augustine. He doesn’t avoid controversial statements, especially in disputes with pelagians. At the same time he was master of the beautiful expressions. Many times he was inconsistent in theological reflection. Probably therefore he doesn’t enjoy great popularity between contemporary theologians. This publication, based on the Dialogus contra pelagianos and Jerome’s Letters reaction against pelagianism and Pelagius. First of all, based on the Dialogus contra pelagianos and the Jerome’s Letters, is an attempt to show the Jerome’s reaction against pelagianism and Pelagius in the first half on 5th century. Using the method theological, historical and linguistical. First, I want to emphasize the most important theological problems about which he wrote. Next – I want to talk about distinguishing marks his criticism of pelagianism and show this criticism in context theology of grace West Church (Latin Church) the first half of the 5th century.
Sam fakt krytyki zjawiska pelagianizmu przez Hieronima nie był niczym odkrywczym, oryginalnym. Idzie on bowiem po linii, którą prezentuje choćby św. Augustyn. Jednakowoż na szczególną uwagę zasługuje sposób, w jaki to czyni, specyfika jego podejścia. Strydończyk miał okazję zetknąć się z Pelagiuszem i jego poglądami wcześniej aniżeli biskup Hippony i od samego początku był na nie wyczulony. W swoich wypowiedziach nie waha się używać kontrowersyjnych, mocnych argumentów. Jednocześnie jest mistrzem pięknych, kwiecistych sformułowań. Wielokrotnie jest w swych teologicznych rozważaniach niekonsekwentny. Prawdopodobnie dlatego nie cieszy się dużą popularnością wśród współczesnych teologów. Niniejsza publikacja jest próbą ukazania reakcji Hieronima na herezję pelagiańską i samego Pelagiusza przede wszystkim w oparciu o Dialog przeciw pelagianom oraz Listy, z zastosowaniem metod teologicznej, historycznej oraz filologicznej. W pierwszej kolejności omówiono najważniejsze problemy teologiczne, o których pisał Strydończyk. Następnie nakreślono cechy szczególne podjętej przez niego krytyki pelagianizmu, po czym ukazano tę krytykę w kontekście szeroko rozumianego nurtu teologii łaski w Kościele zachodnim pierwszej połowy V wieku.

In my article I make an assumption that theatre was a crucial part of Lucjan Rydel artistic work. He worked in the theatre and for the theatre as a playwright, theatre critic, director, literary director, lecturer in theatre school, member of theatre committee, theatre producer and director of a city theatre. It is almost impossible to describe the whole range of Rydel’s professions. However, a deep analysis would reveal his different faces of this talented man. In this article I focus on the work of Rydel as a theatre practitioner, mainly on staging his own dramatic works. I claim that he had a deep knowledge of actors’ craft and skills, of staging methods and styles. I hope that thesis included in the article will encourage theatre historians to further research

The article discusses Karol Irzykowski as an aphorist, focusing on the discord between the critic’s intensive practice of the aphorism and his scathing condemnation of the form of the aphorism, which in his opinion was an instance of simplified, apodictic thinking. The aim of the article is to attempt to explain what justifies the frequent use of the aphorism by a writer who did not appreciate this device; what shape Irzykowski’s aphorisms took against the background of the tradition of the genre; and, finally, what is their function in his writing and what they prove. Irzykowski’s skeptical attitude to this form of statement stems from his epistemological beliefs and provides both a basis for his modifications of the genre and the keystone of cycles of intertextually related aphorisms which the present author has identified in dispersed yet thematically connected pieces by this critic.
Artykuł traktuje o Karolu Irzykowskim jako aforyście, koncentrując się na paradoksie rysującym się pomiędzy jego intensywną aforystyczną praktyką a jednoczesną zjadliwą krytyką tego gatunku - przykładu uproszczonego, apodyktycznego myślenia. Celem artykułu jest próba wyjaśnienia, co uzasadnia częste stosowanie aforyzmów przez pisarza, który nie cenił tego "pisarskiego narzędzia"; jaki kształt mają aforyzmy Irzykowskigo na tle tradycji gatunku; i wreszcie, jaką pełnią funkcję w tekstach autora. Sceptyczne podejście Irzykowskiego do tej formy literackiej wynika z jego przekonań epistemologicznych i tym samym determinuje autorską modyfikację gatunku.

In the contribution we outline dramatics and activities of members of Jednota mládeže slovenskej (Union of Slovak Youth) in Levoča. In the national consciousness processes and in the struggle for a new society, followers of Ludovit Stur (so-called “štúrovci”) attributed great importance to theatre. The then Slovak playwright (J. Chalupka) and the other nation’s amusing type of drama (e. g. V. K. Klicpera, A. Kotzebue, K. Kisfaludy) were typical for their drama creation. Revolutionary years of 1848/49 caused termination of drama activities at The Spis region and ending of this important period. We outline the image of particular drama productions (from 1845 to 1847) realized by amateurs in Levoča.

W tekście Demokratyzacja instytucji krytyki teatralnej wskutek upowszechnienia Internetu autorka bada krytykę teatralną, odrzucając najczęściej stosowane perspektywy literaturoznawcze, a przyjmując metodologie kulturoznawcze i socjologiczne. Przedstawia nadzieje aktywistów co do rozwoju kultury uczestnictwa, które wiązali oni z technologią 2.0. na początku XXI wieku oraz pokazuje jak zmieniło się w tym kontekście ich postrzeganie Internetu. Wskazuje na korzyści dla teatru i społeczeństwa, które mogłyby wyniknąć wskutek demokratyzacji instytucji krytyki teatralnej. Następnie, oddzielając krytykę teatralną w Internecie od internetowej krytyki teatralnej, dokonuje przeglądu rozmaitych praktyk kulturowych reprezentujących przedmiot jej badań. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań wskazuje, w których obszarach i w jakim stopniu krytyka teatralna jest instytucją demokratyczną. Pokazuje, że wbrew powszechnemu przekonaniu Internet nie jest przestrzenią wolności i nie sprzyja budowie kultury uczestnictwa w takim stopniu, w jakim życzyliby sobie jej orędownicy.
In this paper, the author analyses the issue of theater criticism rejecting the most common literary perspective, and accepting cultural and sociological methodologies. The author expresses the activists’ hope for the development of a culture of participation which they associated with technology 2.0. at the beginning of the twenty-first century and shows how it has changed. She points to the benefits for the theater and the society which could arise as a result of the democratization of institutions of theatrical criticism. Then, separating theater criticism on the Internet from website theater criticism, she reviews the various cultural practices representing the object of her research. Based on the survey, she indicates in which areas and to what extent theater criticism constitutes a democratic institution nowadays. She shows that, contrary to popular belief, the Internet is not a space of freedom, neither is it conducive to building a culture of participation to the extent that its proponents would have liked it to.

With the increase in global spatial mobility the importance of migration policy (including integration policy) is increasing day by day, both in developed countries and new market economies. In the course of the research on migration policy various measures were constructed. Even though the particular measures relate to different areas of migration policy, they do not refer to the effectiveness of migration policy. The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the integration of immigrants into the labour market in the countries that belong to the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) and to analyse the relationships between these effects and the integration policy adopted by the individual countries. The TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) method and the CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation) method were used in the research. The results indicate that the highest effectiveness of migration policy in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market was reported in the following OECD countries: Iceland, Switzerland and New Zealand. The results also suggest that the higher the level of integration policy restrictiveness in a given country, the worse the effects in terms of integration of immigrants into the labour market that were noticed by this country.

In the context of the growing importance of the creative industries in the economy and emerging questions about a place of public, cultural, social, economic and innovative policy, an important question appears: what is an essence of the concept of the creative industries? The idea of integration, support and building an identity of the institutions, which activities are based on talented and creative work, has its origins in the United Kingdom and Australia. It is now entering Polish market and arouses interest in policy-makers, academics and practitioners. Still, for many people, the term seems to be vague and arouses a lot of controversy. The article shows the discourse on the creative industries, especially the ongoing debate between: European (mainly British), Australian and American scholars. Furthermore, arguments of critics and defenders of the concept are also presented. The arguments derived from the tradition of the criticism of mass culture which represent the current research on economization of culture are compared in this text. There are three main grounds of the dispute: the definition of the concept, the essence of the concept of a new sector and application in practice. Furthermore, two main phases in the discourse and the pragmatics of the creative industries are also presented: the transition from cultural industries to creative industries and emphasizing the importance of innovation and networking. The study used a critical analysis of the content of not only Polish but also foreign public documents, industry reports and scientific papers. The methodological conclusions drawn from the emergence of a new interdisciplinary research area are also presented. These findings specifically relate to Poland which is entering a crucial phase of policy development in the field of the creative industries. The need for an action is systematized: definitional, classificational and critical analysis of achievements and mistakes of the countries implementing policies to support the sector, as well as the need to adopt it to the local conditions. In the context of relatively limited academic reflection on the issues in Poland, the need of interdisciplinary analysis is also emphasized.

The note discusses words such as owocowo-warzywny ('fruits and vegetable '), warzywno-owocowy ('vegetable and fruit'), naukowo-badawczy ('science-research') etc. which are very frequent in source text on which lexicographers base their general dictionaries of Polish. The author examines the theoretical status of these expressions in selected Polish language dictionaries (with special reference to Słownik wileński and Słownik warszawski).
