The objective of this study is to investigate the level of understanding of blockchain technology for businesses in the service sector and the level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector, with the further aim of recommending readiness planning for the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector. The outcome of the study revealed that participants perceived the overall level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector to be at mid-level. However, almost half of the participants were unsure about the level of impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector. The issue about which most participants were uncertain was if the application of blockchain technology in businesses in the service sector could facilitate their work or coordination with suppliers. 58.40% of participants were unsure about this issue. Furthermore, the outcome of the study showed that understanding blockchain technology influenced the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector and could forecast 61.4% of the impact. As for readiness planning for the impact of blockchain technology on business operations in the service sector, it can be recommended that operators prepare their personnel and human resources, both in terms of numbers and capacity, to respond to changing trends in the market as well as basic understanding about blockchain technology. Operators should also prepare their business infrastructure by setting up a system to develop blockchain technology for management work within their organizations.
Celem niniejszego opracowania jest zbadanie poziomu zrozumienia technologii blockchain dla przedsiębiorstw w sektorze usług oraz poziomu wpływu technologii blockchain na działalność biznesową w sektorze usług, z dalszym celem rekomendacji planowania gotowości na wpływ technologia blockchain w działalności biznesowej w sektorze usług. Wyniki badania wykazały, że uczestnicy postrzegali ogólny poziom wpływu technologii blockchain na działalność biznesową w sektorze usług jako średni. Jednak prawie połowa uczestników nie była pewna poziomu wpływu technologii blockchain na działalność biznesową w sektorze usług. Kwestią, co do której większość uczestników była niepewna, było to, czy zastosowanie technologii blockchain w firmach z sektora usług może ułatwić im pracę lub koordynację z dostawcami. 58,40% uczestników było niepewnych tego problemu. Ponadto wyniki badania wykazały, że zrozumienie technologii blockchain wpłynęło na wpływ technologii blockchain na działalność biznesową w sektorze usług i może prognozować 61,4% wpływu. Jeśli chodzi o planowanie gotowości na wpływ technologii blockchain na działalność biznesową w sektorze usług, można rekomendować, aby operatorzy przygotowali swój personel i zasoby ludzkie, zarówno pod względem liczebności, jak i zdolności, do reagowania na zmieniające się trendy na rynku, a także podstawowe zrozumienie technologii blockchain. Operatorzy powinni również przygotować swoją infrastrukturę biznesową, tworząc system do rozwijania technologii blockchain do prac zarządczych w ich organizacjach.

Opis:
Rapid development of distributed energy resources technologies, along with network constraints, plus few consumer-oriented business models, has led to a search for radically different power system configurations. This is the basis for exploring an energy market model which meets the requirements of the changing environment. This model could be referred to as a transactive energy model whose main focus is on trading energy by a peer-to-peer principle, where the power company is replaced with a fully trusted trading platform based on distributed ledger technologies, i.e. blockchain technology. The aim of this paper is to analyze energy sector solutions related to the use of blockchain technology. The emergence of these solutions indicates, on the one hand, the need for verification of the existing energy market model and, on the other hand, the need to modify the approach towards the changing environment. Blockchain technology not only means the use of cryptographic mechanisms to build trustworthy agreements without intermediary institutions between the unfamiliar users of transactions: it is also a new philosophy of life based on trust.

Artykuł prezentuje badań wstępnych, które stanowią etap zero projektu badawczego o roboczym tytule Potencjał implementacji technologii blockchain w społeczeństwie. Skupiony wokół społecznego wymiaru technologii łańcucha projekt stanowi nowy, niepodejmowany przez badaczy obszar. Zrealizowane techniką wywiadów telefonicznych wspomaganych komputerowo przedsięwzięcie miało na celu ustalić dwa istotne na etapie projektowania badania czynniki, tj. czy i w jakim kontekście rozpoznawalna może być technologia blockchain oraz jakie może być potencjalne zapotrzebowanie na sam projekt. Analiza odpowiedzi otwartych wskazuje, że technologia kojarzona jest niemal wyłącznie z kryptowalutami i bitcoinem, jako pierwszym udanym przykładem wdrożenia. Inne, wynikające z rozwoju technologii i wzrostu jej znaczenia możliwości zastosowania nie są znane. Prawdopodobnie jednak w polskim społeczeństwie istnieje zapotrzebowanie na edukację w obszarze wykorzystania w kolejnych obszarach funkcjonowania człowieka (szczególnie wśród osób, które wcześniej spotkały się z samym pojęciem). Wobec pandemii koronawirusa i potrzeby zachowania dystansu społecznego, wykształcone zostały w społeczeństwie polskim nawyki do edukacji z wykorzystaniem Internetu, co pośrednio potwierdzają same badania wstępne i co nie pozostaje bez wpływu na następne kroki badawcze. Warsztaty edukacyjne stanowiące podstawę projektu głównego – według osiągniętych wyników, prawdopodobnie powinny odbywać się online, z wykorzystaniem narzędzi do pracy i nauki zdalnej. Rozwiązanie takie będzie korzystne zarówno dla organizatorów (mniejsze koszty), jak i samych uczestników (większy komfort, oszczędność czasu, możliwość uczestnictwa osób zamieszkałych w całej Polsce).
The article presents the results of preliminary research (the ‘0’ stage) in the project with the following working title:” The potential of implementing blockchain technology in society”. Focused on the social dimension of chain technology, the project concerns a new phenomenon that has not been previously explored by researchers. The project, carried out with the use of computer-assisted telephone interviews, was intended to determine two factors that are important at the stage of research design i.e. whether and in what context block chain technology can be recognized, and what the potential demand for the project itself may be. The analysis of the provided answers indicates that the technology is associated almost exclusively with cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin, which is the first successful example of blockchain technology’ implementation. Other application possibilities resulting from the development of blockchain technology and its increasing importance are not known. We believe, however, that in Polish society, there is a need for education in the area of using the said technology in other areas of human functioning as well (especially among people who have previously come across the concept itself). Additionally, the initial research results confirmed that in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and due to the need to maintain social distancing, the habit of using the Internet for learning has emerged, which has an impact on the next research steps. What follows is that the educational workshops, which constitute the basis of the main project - according to the results achieved, should probably take place online with the use of tools for remote work and learning. Such a solution will be beneficial both for the organizers (lower costs) and the participants themselves (greater comfort, time savings, and the possibility of participation by people living in different parts of Poland).

Banking sector for decades remain under strong impact and influence of new technologies that change the way we bank today. Blockchain technologies is the newest disruptor in that space, thanks to the benefits offering reduction of operating expense and increased effectiveness as well as gain competitive advantage. The topic is new and access to information often fragmented or limited. The purpose of this article is to introduce the subject of blockchain via synthesis of available information and present how it can affect the efficiency of the bank.

The purpose of the article is to determine the importance of blockchain technology in food supply chain management. A practical reference to the adopted research aim was to indicate the usefulness of blockchain technology to build trust between food chain stakeholders. Research shows that the properties of blockchain technology can enable it to solve many problems and shortcomings of the current food production system. Its added value is primarily a significant increase in transparency of operations among all stakeholders using big data in all parts of the food chain.
Celem tego artykułu jest określenie znaczenia technologii blockchain w zarządzaniu łańcuchem dostaw żywności. Praktycznym odniesieniem do przyjętego celu badawczego było wskazanie przydatności technologii blockchain do budowania zaufania między interesariuszami łańcucha żywnościowego. Jej wartością dodaną jest przede wszystkim znaczny wzrost przejrzystości operacji wśród wszystkich zainteresowanych stron korzystających z dużych zbiorów danych we wszystkich częściach łańcucha żywnościowego.

Purpose: Nowadays, the amount of data generated by companies is increasing dramatically every year. More and more processes are being digitised, forcing the use of ever newer techniques. With the growing amount of data, companies are facing the problem of ensuring easy access to data and its security. An increasingly popular solution is blockchain, whose implementation, however, entails a number of risks. Design/Methodology/Approach: The article focuses on the analysis of the literature on blockchain and its use in the supply chain, regarding the changes and benefits brought by the introduction of the use of blockchain technology. The scope of the literature includes articles found in the Web of Science database, from 2016-2021. Findings: Authors provides a brief introduction and description of blockchain technology both in general and in relation to the supply chain based on 45 articles. After a static part, the author describes the risks associated with the introduction of the technology and presents possible ways to solve them. Conclusions: Authors of articles increasingly recognize the importance of blockchain technology to mitigate the risks of doing business. As a result, more and more solutions based on this technology are appearing, also in the supply chain. Originality/Value: Strategic and operational risks associated with the implementation of blockchain are poorly described in the scientific literature. Through his analysis, the authors expand the supply chain literature with additional theoretical coverage.

Tunisia is a growing economy and in the midst of social, political, economic, technological and epidemiological transition. As a developing economy, Tunisia encounters related concerns in their healthcare sector. Opportunities include the mitigation of risks associated with counterfeit medicines including vaccines (“drugs”). Moreover, significant issues include drug availability and wastage, a fragmented healthcare information system. Overall, these issues are compounded by a lack of collaboration between healthcare stakeholders in setting priorities and moving the sector towards a patient-focused model of healthcare and preventative medicine. Many of these issues may be suited to the adoption of new technologies such as Blockchain and multiple case studies will be outlined within the scope of this paper. The present study aims to address the current issues and challenges pertaining to the healthcare sector in Tunisia and to contextualize the role of new technologies in providing better patient care, improved financial management and improved patient safety.

Patients, and in general, citizens, are anxious when it comes to sharing their social and health data. They do not trust governments, payers, hospitals or general practitioners when it comes to the exchange and recording of their data. They need to be assured of their privacy. A review of potential applications of the blockchain technology as a novel approach to secure health data storage, existing implementation obstacles, and a plan for transitioning incrementally from current technology to a blockchain solution is presented.
Pacjenci i ogólnie obywatele są zaniepokojeni możliwością udostępniania swoich danych społecznych i zdrowotnych. W pracy przedstawiono przegląd potencjalnych zastosowań technologii blockchain - nowego podejścia do zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa przechowywania danych zdrowotnych, przeszkód w jego wdrożeniu oraz plan stopniowego przechodzenia do tych rozwiązań.

Celem artykułu jest omówienie mocnych i słabych stron inwestowania w kryptowaluty oraz wskazanie perspektyw dalszego rozwoju rynku kryptowalut na świecie. Praca wykorzystuje metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa oraz metodę badań dokumentów i wnioskowanie. Przeprowadzone analizy wskazują, że inwestowanie w kryptowaluty jest ryzykowne, ale jednocześnie daje potencjalnie duże szanse na wysoki zwrot z inwestycji. Kryptowaluty charakteryzują się dużymi wahaniami cen i są w stanie wygenerować zarówno dotkliwe straty, jak i ogromne, niespotykane na żadnym innym rynku, stopy zwrotu. Ryzyko i potencjał zysku różnią się w zależności od kryptowaluty i bardzo często zależą od nastrojów inwestorów i ich zmian. Ze względu na niestabilność, zmienność i nieuregulowanie kryptowaluty nie są odpowiednie dla każdego inwestora, a ich przyszłość, podobnie jak ich kurs pozostają niepewne.

Aim: Blockchain technology (BCT) is a relatively new technological development, promising strong gains in the areas of product traceability and visibility, end-to-end coordination (E2E), governance, and efficiency of supply chains. The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of the impact of BCT on these performance measures. Design / Research methods: Hypotheses were tested with survey data from 119 supply chain professionals from Northern American SMEs. Conclusions / findings: The results confirm the positive impacts of BCT on all performance measures. E2E coordination is the integration of information, goods, and money within an organisation or supply chain. E2E coordination appeared to benefit from the use of BCT, enabling information sharing in a safe way. The findings suggest that BCT use fosters E2E coordination, which in its turn also positively affects financial performance. Originality / value of the article: Despite the increasing interest in and use of, BCT, there is little empirical evidence for the effect on supply chain performance. Many studies are anecdotal and lack empirical evidence. Implications of the research (if applicable): Companies should acknowledge the impact of BCT use on the various supply chain performance measures. Implementing and using BCT is likely to foster improvement in a wide range of performance indicators.   Limitations of the research  (if applicable): Companies use different types, versions, varieties, and forks of blockchain, all having their own strong and weak points. Future studies could investigate and include the nuances within different forks of BCT.

Rynek kryptowalut już od czasu swojego powstania budził wiele kontrowersji oraz obaw związanych z zagrożeniami, które stwarza obrót walutą wirtualną. Gwałtowny wzrost wartości Bitcoina w 2017 roku, miał wpływ na znaczny wzrost zainteresowania inwestorów, instytucji oraz podmiotów związanych z rynkami finansowymi, które nie dotyczyło jedynie chęci wzbogacenia się. Technologia blockchain oraz bazujący na niej rynek kryptowalut, umożliwiają rozwój technologii, szybki i bezpieczny przepływ kapitału oraz mają wiele innych zastosowań, które w przyszłości mogą doprowadzić do rewolucyjnych zmian i odkryć. Jednakże należy również pamiętać, że rynek waluty wirtualnej stwarza warunki dla szeroko rozumianej działalności przestępczej i terrorystycznej, będących zagrożeniem dla funkcjonowania całego systemu polityczno-gospodarczego. Kluczowym elementem dla zapewnienia pełnej wydajności rynkowej i wykorzystania całego zakresu możliwości rozwoju, przy zachowaniu bezpieczeństwa istniejących na nim podmiotów, jest kreowanie budujących rynek właściwych uwarunkowań instytucjonalnych. Umożliwią one zachowanie równowagi między poziomem ingerencji w system finansowy związanej z wprowadzeniem regulacji dotyczących waluty wirtualnej a swobodnym rozwojem rynku i możliwościami, które za sobą niesie.
Since its inception, the cryptocurrency, a lot of controversy and concerns related to the threats posed by trading in virtual currency has aroused. The sharp increase in the value of bitcoin in 2017 had an impact on a significant increase in the interest of investors, institutions and entities related to financial markets, which was not only related to the desire to get rich. Blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency market based on, it enable the development of technology, fast and safe capital flow and have many other applications that may lead to revolutionary changes and discoveries in the future. However, it should also be remembered that the virtual currency market creates conditions for broadly understood criminal and terrorist activities, which pose a threat to the functioning of the entire political and economic system. The key element to ensure full market efficiency and use of the entire range of development opportunities, while maintaining the security of the entities existing in it, is the creation of appropriate institutional conditions that build the market. They will make it possible to maintain a balance between the level of interference in the financial system related to the introduction of virtual currency regulations and the free development of the market and the opportunities it brings.

The tourism industry is increasingly considered a critical part of the economy of many nations‚ contributing to economic development‚ employment‚ and personal well-being. To sustain the activities of the tourism industry‚ the use of ICT and new technologies gives rise to a connected generation of smart tourists. Remarkably‚ tourism has been technologically-driven since the use of the Internet as a means to support all the phases of the travel process‚ from pre-trip decision making to the post-trip recollection. Despite propelling a paradigm shift‚ existing technologies and legacy systems present several challenges that need be addressed in order to benefit tourism developments and ensure an immersive travel experience. In this paper‚ we study the emergence of Blockchain technology and its possibilities in the tourism industry. This foundational paradigm raises high expectations because it empowers trust-building and promotes more disintermediation‚ secure travel-related transactions‚ creative loyalty programs‚ traceable tourism products and activities‚ and reliable online travel reviews.

The article looks at the issue of the so-called cryptocurrencies, which are one of the main determinants influencing the functioning of contemporary monetary systems. The article provides a general overview of blockchain technology and its influence on cryptocurrency development. It is based on asymmetric cryptology, peer-to-peer technology, hash functions, consensus mechanism, and smart contracts. Since 2008, when Satoshi Nakamoto published online the Bitcoin blueprint, cryptocurrency market has grown. There are more than 1000 cryptocurrencies now (e.g. Ethereum, Dogecoin, Monero), as well as many stock exchange markets, exchange offices and bitcoin cash machines. It is also possible to “mine” cryptocurrencies by yourself, however special hardware solutions are required. The author claims that cryptocurrency has redefined the way of thinking and viewing the concept of money, and it will expand even further.

Modern technologies have been revolutionizing industries for years, providing competitive advantages to companies. As a technology based on decentralization, Blockchain becomes a tool to support and secure processes and transactions in industries such as mining and power engineering. It also supports supply chain processes, which are particularly important in today's mining business. The use of advanced cryptography methods results in increased cyber security in entities that implement such solutions. The use of Blockchain technology carries a strong message, both to competitors and customers, about intensifying work on authentication and process traceability. This publication focuses on defining the trust gap problem in the mining industry and on examples of the use of technology in data traceability processes. The mining industry is beginning to use technologies which had been previously available only in the theoretical realm. The ongoing development towards a smart industry entails a number of studies and expert assessments, aimed to integrate knowledge from the mining and IT areas. The combination of these research areas leads to an increase in the value of both the companies implementing modern technologies and traditional companies that implement such applications in their value chain. Based on the analyzed articles, two main areas of consideration in the context of the extractive industry were distinguished: systems that track and secure the flow of data in specific mining processes and systems that monitor and secure information on processes which support the raw materials supply chain.
Nowoczesne technologie od lat rewolucjonizują przemysł i stanowią o przewadze konkurencyjnej przedsiębiorstw. Blockchain jako technologia oparta na decentralizacji staje się narzędziem wspomagającym oraz zabezpieczającym procesy i transakcje w takich gałęziach przemysłu jak górnictwo oraz energetyka. Wspomaga również procesy związane z łańcuchami dostaw, szczególnie ważnymi w dzisiejszym biznesie wydobywczym. Wykorzystanie metod zaawansowanej kryptografii skutkuje zwiększeniem cyberbezpieczeństwa podmiotów, które takie rozwiązania wdrażają. Zastosowanie technologii Blockchain wiąże się z mocnym przekazem, zarówno dla konkurencji jak i klientów, dotyczącym intensyfikacji prac nad autentykacją oraz identyfikowalnością procesów. W niniejszej publikacji skupiono się na zdefiniowaniu problemu luki zaufania w przemyśle górniczym oraz przykładach wykorzystania technologii w procesach śledzenia pochodzenia danych. Branża wydobywcza zaczyna wykorzystywać technologie dostępne do tej pory tylko w obszarze teoretycznym. Bieżący rozwój w kierunku przemysłu inteligentnego niesie za sobą szereg badań i ekspertyz, które mają na celu integrację wiedzy z obszarów górnictwa oraz informatyzacji. Połączenie wspomnianych obszarów badawczych prowadzi do wzrostu wartości przedsiębiorstw zarówno wdrażających nowoczesne technologie jak i firm tradycyjnych, które takie zastosowania implementują do swojego łańcucha wartości. Bazując na analizowanych artykułach wyróżniono dwa główne obszary rozważań w kontekście branży wydobywczej: systemy śledzące oraz zabezpieczające przepływ danych w określonych procesach górniczych oraz systemy monitorujące oraz zabezpieczające informacje dotyczące procesów wspierających łańcuch dostaw.

Artykuł został poświęcony problematyce inteligentnych kontraktów (smart contracts) zawieranych w sieci blokchain. Teoretyczna analiza poglądów na wskazany temat prowadzi do wniosku, że są w tym zakresie różnice pomiędzy badaniami prowadzonymi w Chinach a badaniami prowadzonymi w innych państwach. W pierwszym z państw zwraca się przede wszystkim uwagę na trzy aspekty inteligentnych kontraktów. Są nimi: charakter prawny inteligentnych kontraktów, ich wpływ na tradycyjne prawo umów, a także możliwe problemy związane z zastosowaniem w stosunku do nich odpowiedniej regulacji prawnej. Badania w innych państwach koncentrują się na: związku z inteligentnych kontraktów z prawem, wpływu tych kontraktów na prawo umów oraz potencjalnym ryzyku, jakie niosą za sobą inteligentne kontrakty.
This paper reveals that there are different perspectives for theoretical research of Blockchain Smart Contracts between China and other countries. Chinese scholars are mainly focused on three aspects in terms of the legal attribute, influence among traditional Contract Law and potential legal problems of Blockchain Smart Contract. While relative researches in other countries contain the relationship between Blockchain Smart Contracts and Laws, the impact of Blockchain Smart Contracts on traditional contract system and potential risks of Blockchain Smart Contracts. Survey reviews that although Chinese scholars have made specific analysis on Smart Contract, but there is still room for further research, including Guarantee, Interpretation, Jurisdiction of Smart Contract. Yet current studies in other countries are inclined to conduct the study from the perspective of Contract Law theory, probably the relationship between other Law and Contract Law should be considered. Nowadays most countries have realized the importance of energy conservation. the operation of blockchain consumes plenty of resources, especially electric power resources. Therefore, it brings an important issue on balancing the Legislative contradiction between energy conservation and rational utilization of Blockchain Smart Contracts.
