Opis:
The aim of the article is to analyze inter- relations between online shopping behaviour and personality traits. Online shopping has been developing all over the world. People not only buy locally but also trade internationally via the internet. The method of the study is correlation with the use of SPSS programme. Two different inventories were administrated to 243 university students via online. Big-Five Personality Questionnaire and Compulsive Online Shopping Behaviour were used. This test apparatus indicates five different personality dimensions such as extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, intellect imagination. The compulsive online shopping behaviour was applied to get data on online shopping. The findings indicate that there are correlations between personality traits and excessive online shopping behaviour. People who are less agreeable and self conscious should think more before shopping online.

Opis:
This article presents a new way of measuring five personality traits (extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness to experience) in children – called the Picture Based Personality Survey (PBPS) for children. This measuring instrument corresponds to children’s cognitive development and it is based on pictures. The questionnaire consists of items which comprise two pictures – every picture indicates either of the two ends of a scale (e.g.: the behaviour presented in the fi rst picture indicates extraversion whilst that in the second picture indicates introversion). Every picture presents a clearly recognizable main character, who is placed in the same situation but behaves in a completely different way. Children have to choose the picture which most closely corresponds to their own behaviour. The measurement model of data obtained with PBPS was examined via confi rmatory factor analysis. The results indicate that the model fi ts the data well. Reliability assessed by Cronbach’s alfa showed the need to improve the reliability of the instrument. However, the reliability assessment by means of Saris and Gallhofer’s index of quality was satisfactory.

Opis:
The article is an introduction to the volume devoted to personality traits and their measurement. It consists of two parts. The first part presents two research traditions that use the taxonomy of five personality traits: the lexical tradition (using the term “Big Five”) and the psychometric tradition (using the term “Five-Factor Model of Personality”). Similarities and differences between these traditions are outlined and the basic elements of other models that have appeared in recent studies – such as the Big Six or the Big Two – are introduced in it. The second part of the paper presents selected issues of measurement, discussed in detail in several texts included in the current issue of Annals of Psychology. Special attention is drawn to differences between various questionnaires in the operationalization of the five traits as well as to the growing popularity of short scales for measuring personality traits. The paper also outlines problems involved in the measurement of personality traits and the psychometric instruments used.

Opis:
The article presents the Polish adaptation of Goldberg’s IPIP-BFM-50 questionnaire for measuring the five personality traits in the lexical tradition (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, and Intellect). The adaptation procedure was carried out as a series of eight studies. Analyses were performed on a total of N = 7015 people aged from 10 to 83 (their mean age was 29 years). Reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Factorial validity was verified in confirmatory factor analysis. In multigroup confirmatory factor analysis, measurement invariance between various research situations was verified. External validity was assessed by comparing the scores obtained using the IPIP-BFM-50 with NEO-FFI and NEO-PI-R scores. The results support the conclusion that the IPIP-BFM-50 is a measure with satisfactory psychometric properties, fit for use in scientific research.

TIPI
Opis:
The paper presents the Polish adaptation of the Ten-Item Personality Inventory (TIPI-P), which is designed to measure five dimensions of personality as described in the Big Five model. The items were translated into Polish from the original English version. The equivalence of the two versions was confirmed in a study conducted on a sample of bilingual students. A series of four independent studies (on a total sample of over 500 students) were conducted to verify the psychometric properties of the Polish version of TIPI. They proved acceptable test-retest reliability of TIPI-P after two weeks. As in the original version of the inventory, the internal consistency coefficients are relatively low. Correlations between TIPI-P and NEO-FFI as well as between self-rating and peer-rating confirm the convergent and discriminant validity of TIPI-P scales. The results of the studies suggest that the Polish adaptation can be used in scientific research conducted on student samples.

Opis:
The most frequently used measures of personality consist of a large number of items. However, it is their short versions that have enjoyed popularity in recent years. This article is a presentation of the short form of Goldberg’s questionnaire for measuring the Big Five personality traits. The questionnaire measures five traits (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, Intellect), and consists of 20 items. It is a shortened version of the 50-item Big Five Markers questionnaire from the resources of the International Personality Item Pool, whose Polish version was prepared by Strus, Cieciuch, and Rowiński (2014b). In constructing the short version, we followed the procedure developed by Donnellan and colleagues (2006), aimed at maximizing the internal consistency and independence of scales. The research was carried out on a group of N = 903 people aged between 16 and 83 years. The validity (verified in confirmatory factor analysis and in the analysis of correlations between the questionnaire’s scales and other measures of the five personality traits) and reliability (measured by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient) are satisfactory and make the questionnaire fit for use in scientific research.

Opis:
This article presents a preliminary study of links between personal constructs and traits. The conceptual framework for this study is the domains of personality model postulated by McAdams (1995) and McAdams & Pals (2006), and we tried to find concomitances between variables of two different levels, the dispositional level and the identity level. A repertory grid and the NEOFFI inventory were distributed to a total of 273 individuals, 146 representing the general population, and 137 having pathologies. By applying an exploratory design ex post facto in which Pearson’s correlations and ANOVAs were used, we found associations between the content of the constructs used and the traits. The neuroticism trait was most closely related to the content of the constructs. There were also clear associations between construct structure and scores on traits. Neurotic subjects were more rigid, whereas agreeable and conscientious subjects were more complex. However, the type of sample (normal or pathological) is a basic modulator of the relationships between constructs and traits.

Opis:
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja Obrazkowego pomiaru cech osobowości dzieci (OPCO-D), czyli kwestionariusza do pomiaru 5 czynników osobowości, tj.: ekstrawersji, neurotyczności, otwartości, sumienności i ugodowości w okresie późnego dzieciństwa.
Currently, it is assumed that the personality structure, including the period of the childhood, could be described through the means of the Big Five traits. A big challenge, however, is to select such a measure, which would take into account the development of reading, concentration, and other cognitive aspects, which are still developing in younger children. Therefore, the aim of the current study if to demonstrate that the Pictorial Personality Traits Questionnaire for Children (PPTQ-C), which is a questionnaire designed to capture five basic personality traits, that is: extraversion, neuroticism, openness, conscientiousness, and agreeableness during the late childhood period. The PPTQ-C could be deemed as a valid and reliable tool, which covers the existing lack in such tools, especially for children aged between 7 and 10 years. The PPTQ-C combines the best features of questionnaire and non-questionnaire methods of assessment and is adjusted to the cognitive development of children.

Opis:
Pięcioczynnikowy Model Osobowości, popularnie określany jako tzw. Wielka Piątka (ang. The Model of Big-Five Personality), jest prostym i uniwersalnym modelem struktury osobowości, określającym pięć podstawowych czynników osobowości: ekstrawersję, neurotyzm, sumienność, ugodowość i otwartość na doświadczenia.
The Five Factor Model, commonly referred to as The Model of Big-Five Personality, is a simple and universal personality structure model defining the five basic personality features: extraversion, neuroticism, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness to experience. The personality dimensions depicted in the Big Five Model allow for grouping human behaviours. As regards the organisation behaviours, including the managerial ones, the Big Five descriptors are recognised prognostics of behaviours at work. Defining managerial behaviours based on the five traits model enables to determine the desired personality profile for a managerial position resulting in conscious shaping of a consistent approach to effective management of people.
