Opis:
The research for novel power conversion topologies and the development of cutting-edge power component technologies are driven by the demand for renewable and much more efficient electricity generation, delivery, and conversion. Simulation and Analysis High Voltage Gain DC-DC Converter with Double Voltage Booster Switched Inductor for PV Applications are analyzed in this paper. Multilevel boost converter topologies recently reintroduced, are gaining popularity as a solution for industrial and transportation power systems because they enable the use of innovative, efficient, but relatively low voltage low-voltage devices at greater voltage and power levels. there is only one power switch on the converter that is planned here, three diodes, two capacitors, and two inductors to achieve ultra-high gain with better efficiency. High voltage gain, minimal switch stress, and the ability to lessen input-current ripple and capacitor voltage ripple are all benefits of the topology. When it switches complementary, the capacitors' ripple is reduced, which lowers the size requirement for the capacitors. A 12V, 500 watts prototype was analyzed, simulated and designed. at a duty cycle of 0.75 it is achieved high DC-DC gain i.e 19 and efficiency 93%. The practicality of the converter will be demonstrated by the close agreement between the analysis and simulation findings.

Opis:
Numerous skills involving the introduction of (OP) opposed piston engine have been developed in the recent past. Indeed, novel techniques can help to improve the performance of the engine. The aim of this paper is to model and simulate a simple single-cylinder two-stroke opposed-piston engine and minimise fuel consumption and heat loss, using the software programme AVL BOOST™. AVL BOOST is an engine modelling software, which analyses the performance of a modelled single cylinder two-stroke opposed-piston engine by changing desired parameters. In order to meet this aim, experimental results from a unique engine are used to make a comparison with the results obtained from AVL BOOST model. Six combinations of compression ratios (12, 13.5, 15, 16.5, 18 and 19.5) are analysed in this study with the engine speed running at 420 rpm and 1500 rpm. In addition to the compression ratios, the effect of stroke-to-bore (S/B) ratios on OP2S performance is investigated. Various values of S/B ratios, whilst maintaining a constant swept volume, port geometry and combustion timing, and their effect on fuel consumption and heat loss are analysed in this study. A comparison between the two engine speeds with increasing combinations of compression ratios, and the S/B ratios revealed minimal differences in peak pressure, peak temperature, IMEP, ISFC, indicated efficiency and total heat loss. Detailed analyses of these parameters are highlighted in discrete sections of this paper.

Opis:
Opposed-piston (OP) engine’s promising fuel efficiency has attracted the interest of automotive industry in the recent years. The opposed-piston two-stroke (OP2S) engine technology heightens this fuel efficiency benefit and offers advances in structure, power density and thermal efficiency whilst sustaining its lower cost and weight. Today thermodynamic modelling remains an indispensable and cost effective route in the development and optimisation of internal combustion engines (ICEs). To achieve this goal, the OP2S engine is simulated and validated against experimental results in AVL Boost™, which is hailed as one of the most reliable and advanced engine simulation tools. Detailed analyses of the piston dynamics, heat release, scavenging and heat transfers are highlighted in discrete sections of this paper. Having compared distinct heat release models, the Wiebe 2-Zone model emerged efficacious in replicating the heat release characteristics of the PAMAR™ engine. In comparing the numerical and experimental results, the simulation revealed minimal differences in peak pressure, peak temperature and maximum pressure raise rate, under ±2.5% differences for indicated power, IMEP, indicated thermal efficiency (ITE) and ISFC. Subsequently, confidence taken from the validated numerical model is then deployed to investigate the effect of stroke-to-bore (S/B) ratio on OP2S performance. Three combinations of S/B ratios (0.5, 1.25, and 1.69) with identical swept volume are analysed in this study. Utilisation of the validated model ensured the standardisation of intake, exhaust and the combustion systems in order to isolate the effects of S/B ratio. Results indicate that heat losses decrease with increasing S/B ratio because of the reduced surface area-to-volume in the cylinder. Consequently, an improvement in ITE and mechanical efficiency is observed with reduced ISFC for higher S/B ratios. A tendency of upsurge in combustion efficiency is also evident for higher S/B ratio due to reduced heat transfer near minimum volume of the combustion chamber.

Opis:
Radiotherapy aims to deliver an appropriate dose of ionizing radiation to the target, minimizing the doses in critical organs. There are cases where several Planning Target Volume (PTV) are planned in the treatment plan for one patient that require different doses to be deposited. In such cases, one of the possible irradiation techniques is the so-called Simultaneous Integrated Boost (SIB) technique, in which all PTV are simultaneously irradiated with different doses. Due to the existing Beam Penumbra Effect, the application of a dose in one PTV affects the doses in the second PTV receiving a lower dose. In this paper, using the concept of the Equivalent Uniform Dose – EUD (EUD) the mutual influence of doses deposited in particular PTVs was assessed.

Opis:
In this study, a prototype four-stroke spark ignition engine with four cylinders (two valves per cylinder), with and without turbocharger, as well as variable valve timing system to adjustment of variable valve duration has been investigated. This study covers the effects of intake valve opening (IVO), Intake valve closing (IVC), exhaust valve opening (EVO) and exhaust valve closing (EVC) angles on engine performances and fuel economy. The calculations of engine performance were carried out using the 1-Dimensional simulation with AVL BOOST software. The effects of different valve timing strategies and a combination of them from simulations were analyzed and compared with the reference fixed valve timing cases. It was shown that substantial improvements in fuel consumption and performance can be achieved. The improvements of Indicated Specific Fuel Consumption (ISFC) are remarkable in turbocharged models. Furthermore, we can see the noticeable improvements in torque and power in the naturally aspirated engine.

Opis:
A novel circuit topology of modified switched boost high frequency hybrid resonant inverter fitted induction heating equipment is presented in this paper for efficient induction heating. Recently, induction heating technique is becoming very popular for both domestic and industrial purposes because of its high energy efficiency and controllability. Generally in induction heating, a high frequency alternating magnetic field is required to induce the eddy currents in the work piece. High frequency resonant inverters are incorporated in induction heating equipment which produce a high frequency alternating magnetic field surrounding the coil. Previously this high frequency alternating magnetic field was produced by voltage source inverters. But VSIs have several demerits. So, in this paper, a new scheme of modified switched boost high frequency hybrid resonant inverter fitted induction heating equipment has been depicted which enhances the energy efficiency and controllability and the same is validated by PSIM.

This paper presents a novel fault detection algorithm for a three-phase interleaved DC–DC boost converter integrated in a photovoltaic system. Interleaved DC–DC converters have been used widely due to their advantages in terms of efficiency, ripple reductions, modularity and small filter components. The fault detection algorithm depends on the input current waveform as a fault indicator and does not require any additional sensors in the system. To guarantee service continuity, a fault tolerant topology is achieved by connecting a redundant switch to the interleaved converter. The proposed fault detection algorithm is validated under different scenarios by the obtained results.

This elaboration presents the concept of a unidirectional DC–DC switchedcapacitor converter operating as a voltage tripler. The system consists of two resonant cells with switched capacitors and chokes. This proposed converter topology achieves low voltages on semiconductor switches (diodes and transistors) compared to the classic SC series-parallel converter or the boost topology. The output voltage on the capacitors is reduced in the proposed converter because it is divided into two series-connected capacitors with asymmetric distribution. The presented results describe the analytical description of the system operation and the analytical equation for semiconductor currents. A simulation and experimental results have been performed. The system efficiency and three voltage gain values were measured in the experimental setup. The efficiency measured was also compared with the analytical determination curve for loss analysis and further converter optimization.

The development of photovoltaic (PV) panels has made solar-powered pumps a reality. The pump drivers are usually direct-current (DC) motors which are fed by power electronic converters with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to extract the whole energy that the PV panels can generate depending on the environmental conditions including irradiation and temperature. The implementation of MPPT algorithm essentially involves sensing both an input current and an input voltage. Understandably, such realization is expensive. In this paper, a solar PV water pumping system based on DC to DC converter as MPPT module is considered. The system consists of a PV array, a DC to DC boost converter and the DC motor coupled to a centrifugal pump. A proposed method is employed to seek the maximum power point using the flow rate obtained from a single sensor. A comparison with conventional hill climbing technique is included in experimental results to prove feasibility of the proposed method.

This paper presents a dual inductor-fed boost converter with an auxiliary transformer and voltage doubler for sustainable energy power converters. The new topology integrates a two-phase boost converter and a dual inductor-fed boost converter. The energy stored and transferred by both inductors can attain a wide input-voltage and load range which uses a constant switching frequency, by controlling the time duration of the simultaneous conduction of the two switches. Among other current-fed type boost converters the presented topology is attractive due to the high voltage conversion ratio, less stress on the components and less switch conduction loss. To verify the feasibility of this topology, the principles of operation, theoretical analysis, and experimental waveforms are presented for a 1 kW prototype.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of a novel quasi-resonant boost converter with a tapped inductor. This converter combines the advantages of zero voltage quasi-resonant techniques and different conduction modes with the possibility of obtaining a high voltage conversion ratio by using a tapped inductor, which results in high converter efficiency and soft switching in the whole output power range. The paper contains an analysis of converter operation, a determination of voltage conversion ratio and the maximum voltage across power semiconductor switches as well as a discussion of control methods in discontinuous, critical, and continuous conduction modes. In order to verify the novelty of the proposed converter, a laboratory prototype of 300 W power was built. The highest efficiency η = 94.7% was measured with the output power Po = 260 W and the input voltage Vin = 50 V. The lowest efficiency of 90.7% was obtained for the input voltage Vin = 30 V and the output power Po = 75 W. The model was tested at input voltages (30–50) V, output voltage 380 V and maximum switching frequency 100 kHz.
