Maritime sector’s growth is defined and specified by Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, Integrated maritime policy and Blue growth strategy. However, practical implementation of such positive regulations isn’t so resultative, because Blue growth, same as overall EU zone economic development meets significant troubles. Blue growth methodology needs to be more certain and sustained in overall system of EU development approaches. Here is highlighted, that further growth is possible in several areas: aquaculture, coastal tourism, marine biotechnology, ocean energy, seabed mining. Majority of core maritime activities as industry, logistic and infrastructure hasn’t provided as valuable in reason of methodological understanding of a growth in terms of physical and economic growth. Applied author Circular economy 3.0 methodology discovers sense of qualitative growth of holistic maritime economy system what enforces all maritime branches by advanced growth abilities of CleanTech, HealthTec and SmartTech approaches. This opens panel for discussion with business, politicians, communities on matter of improvement EU Blue growth strategy towards radicalisation of EU growth trends.

Introduction and aim. Blue light is part of the natural light spectrum and plays a role in regulating the circadian rhythm. However, with the increasing use of electronic devices and energy-efficient lighting emitting high levels of artificial blue light, concerns are raised regarding its potential effect on human health. Blue-blocking filters have been developed and are advertised as a solution to be used in spectacles or intraocular lenses. This review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the use of blue-blocking filters based on the results of clinical trials. Material and methods. This review included relevant original papers reporting on clinical trial results from PubMed, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases using specified keywords. Analysis of the literature. Trials conducted with patients reveal mixed results, with some showing no significant changes in vision and reading abilities, while others indicating potential limitations such as reduced contrast vision. However, blue-blocking filters have demonstrated potential benefits in improving sleep quality and mood, particularly in patients with sleep disturbances or psychiatric disorders. The efficacy of blue-blocking filters in mitigating symptoms of digital eye strain remains inconclusive. Conclusion. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive assessment of the benefits and limitations associated with the use of blue-blocking filters, highlighting the need for further investigation in certain areas.

The prospect of implementing the concept of the Blue Economy is currently still at a relatively early stage of achieving its full potential. The purpose of this paper is to present the idea of the ocean economy and selected aspects of its financing, including initiatives undertaken in this area by the European Union. Part I characterises the Blue Economy, part II discusses selected aspects of financing a sustainable ocean economy, and part III analyses the institutional approach, particularly within the EU, to the financing process of this type of economy. The descriptive method was used to conduct this study, and the available literature on and legal acts related to the subject of the article has been analysed. The undertakings made so far, especially by the EU, are impressive and, moreover, are driving global activity towards the sustainable financing of the Blue Economy. It is becoming a fundamental priority to realise the governments' and international organisations' aspirations to make economies independent from excessive carbon emissions, to counteract water degradation, overfishing, and shrinking drinking water resources. In the long term, it is important to develop coherence between the actions of national entities and the sources and methods of international funding. This is in order to develop a mutual, global good of innovative financing of coastal projects for sustainable development.

Celem artykułu jest omówienie występowania przymiotnika błękitny w tekstach zgromadzonych w Narodowym Korpusie Języka Polskiego (NKJP), dostępnym pod adresem www.nkjp. pl. Pod uwagę brana jest kategoria „proza” w podkorpusie zrównoważonym, a dane zostały wyekscerpowane przy pomocy wyszukiwarki PELCRA. Jak pokazuje analiza materiału wyekscerpowanego z podkorpusu zrównoważonego NKJP, błękitny używany jest w prozie częściej niż w tekstach innych, nieliterackich kategorii. Dane korpusowe przemawiają za tym, by uważać to słowo za wyszukane, „książkowe”. Dane korpusowe dostarczyły materiału pozwalającego na wychwycenie różnic – nie tylko frekwencyjnych – w stosowaniu przez prozaików przymiotników błękitny i niebieski. Ten pierwszy częściej używany jest w opisach nieba, wody, dymów i mgieł, natomiast drugi służy do deskrypcji ubrań i oczu.
The purpose of the article is to discuss the occurrence of the adjective błękitny in the texts collected in the category “prose” of the National Corpus of Polish, available at www.nkjp.pl. The data have been excerpted from the balanced subcorpus with the search engine PELCRA. As the analysis demonstrates, błękitny is used in prose more frequently than in other texts, non-literary categories, and that is why, this word should be regarded as sophisticated and bookish. The corpus data allow for identifying differences not only in the frequency but also in the use of the words błękitny and niebieski by prose writers. Błękitny is used more often to describe the sky, water, smoke and mist, whereas niebieski, which is the basic term for blue in Polish, is employed to describe clothes and eyes.

Distorted Perception and its Consequences in «Almost Blue», a Novel by Carlo Lucarelli is an article which deals with an analysis and description of the three main characters from the perspective of their sensory perception of reality. In each analysed case the main characters' experiences are distorted (damaged, misinterpreted) due to blindness, mental disease or Premenstrual Syndrome. The distorted sensory perception affects their contact with reality and their understanding of certain phenomena. Their individual human corporality changes the sense of reality.

Praca obejmuje testowanie przypuszczenia Beal'a z wykorzystaniem klasycznych procesorów. Dodatkowo w wybranych funkcjach oprogramowania wykorzystano standard OpenMP, co umożliwiło zrównoleglenie obliczeń. Do obliczeń wykorzystano jednostki obliczeniowe wchodzące w skład komputerów IBM Blue Gene/P, IBM Blue Gene/Q oraz IBM Power 775. Testy wykonano także na superkomputerze HP BladeSystem/Actina, Hydra dostępnym w ICM UW - użyto tam węzła obliczeniowego posiadającego dwa procesory Intel Xeon X5660. Porównano wydajność własnych rozwiązań napisanych w języku C z możliwościami oprogramowania napisanego w języku Python przez Peter'a Novig'a.
This paper includes the testing of Beal’s conjecture using classical processors. Additionally some features of OpenMP standard were used in software what allowed to parallel the calculation. Calculations were based on computational units included in the computers IBM Blue Gene/L, IBM Blue Gene/Q, and the IBM Power 775 tests have been performed on the supercomputer HP BladeSystem / Actina, Hydra available in the ICM UW - computing nodes with Intel Xeon processors X5660 were used there. The performance of own solutions written in C was compared with the capabilities of software written in Python by Peter Novig.

New composite materials were obtained based on chitosan iodide and organic dyes – methylene blue and fuchsine in fucorcin (Castellani liquid) – by using a simple synthetic procedure. The materials were characterised by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, temperature-programmed desorption mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy and visible and ultraviolet light spectroscopy. The dyes in the composites were distributed uniformly and did not form separate phases. These composites could form structured porous sponges and films and therefore be used in various fields of application. The materials displayed antibacterial activity against antibiotic resistant gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Synthesis of nanocomposite chitosan-TiO2 have been done. Nanocomposite made of chitosan was isolated from crab shell namely α-chitosan and squid pens as β-chitosan. Nanocomposite was synthesized by combining the function of chitosan as supporting material with TiO2 particle that have high photocatalytic activity. The nanocomposite characterized by FTIR and SEM/EDX analysis show the functional groups of chitosan and and also surface morphology of nanocomposite chitosan-TiO2. The FTIR spectra shows adsorption band of O-Ti-O at 677-695 cm-1, and characteristic adsorption band of chitosan at wavenumbers 1600 cm-1 for -NH2 and 3400 cm-1 for -OH. From SEM/EDX analysis can be seen that TiO2 has been distributed evenly on surface of chitosan. The nanocomposite was applied for photodegradation of methylene blue in aqueous medium on UV light radiation. The optimum percent photodegradation at wavelength 660 nm by the nanocomposite α-chitosan-TiO2 and β-chitosan-TiO2 are 59,48% and 59,82%, respectively.

This paper explores the role of regional policy in strengthening the EU’s research and innovation policy paradigm, with a particular focus on smart specializations. These specializations play a major role in stimulating R&I at the regional level in less-developed regions of the EU. Smart specialization is the EU’s new concept for the regions; it assumes improvement in both innovation and competitiveness, based on endogenic potential; in particular, in already existing branches of the economy. Smart specializations should, by definition, concentrate economic resources on chosen priorities; one of these priorities is the growth of the blue economy. Smart specializations need to be clearly defined, only then can they contribute to economic growth when combined with proper management of public financial means. The objective of this paper is to introduce and characterize the assumptions for smart specializations and to assess the progress of their implementation and the necessary conditions required in Polish regions; particularly when referring to sectors of the blue economy.

The aim of the study was to determine the causes of dying down of sprout and needles of Colorado blue spruce (Picea pungens Engelm.) and its cultivar ‘Glauca’ in the park collection of the Botanic Garden of Jagiellonian University in Cracow. For several years, the disease symptoms described in the article have led to the loss of decorative values of these trees. The study was conducted in the years 2002 and 2003 by means of the control of plant healthfulness, phytopathological diagnostics, isolation of microorganisms from tissues exhibiting diseases symptoms, as well as the culture and identification of the isolated fungi. Both, the control of tree healthfulness, and specialized laboratory techniques proved that the symptoms diagnosed in plants had an infectious character, and that the fungi might be the main causing agents. The analysis of the fungal populations isolated from the affected tissues indicates the combined occurrence of fungi in tissues of the studied plants and the domination of the following species: Alternaria consortiale, Aureobasidium pullulans, Penicillium canescens, Phoma pomorum, Ulocladium consortiale, Zythiostroma pinastri.
Badania miały na celu określenie przyczyn zamierania pędów i igieł świerka kłującego (Picea pungens Engelm.) i jego odmiany ‘Glauca’ w nasadzeniach stałych w kolekcji Ogrodu Botanicznego UJ w Krakowie. Wymienione objawy chorobowe przyczyniały się już od kilku lat do utraty walorów dekoracyjnych u tych drzew. W latach 2002 i 2003 przeprowadzono badania w oparciu o ocenę zdrowotności roślin, diagnostykę fitopatologiczną, wyosobnienie mikroorganizmów z tkanek z objawami chorobowymi oraz hodowlę i identyfikację wyosobnionych grzybów. Zarówno określanie zdrowotności drzew jak i specjalne techniki laboratoryjne dowiodły, że zdiagnozowane u roślin objawy mają charakter infekcyjny, a grzyby mogą być ich głównymi sprawcami. Analiza populacji grzybów wyosobnionych z chorych tkanek wskazała na ich kompleksowe występowanie w tkankach badanych roślin, jak też na dominację takich gatunków jak Alternaria consortiale, Aureobasidium pullulans, Penicillium canescens, Phoma pomorum, Ulocladium consortiale, Zythiostroma pinastri.

In the present study the adsorption of Reactive Blue 19 dye on the hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanopowders was investigated. The batch adsorption experiments were performed by monitoring the adsorbent dosage, contact time, dye solution concentration, pH and temperature. At pH 3 and 20ºC, high dye removal rates of about 95.58% and 86.95% for the uncalcined and calcined nanohydroxyapatites, respectively, were obtained. The kinetic studies indicated the dye adsorption onto nanohydroxyapatite samples to follow a pseudo-second order model. The Langmuir isotherm was found to be the best to represent the equilibrium with experimental data. The maximum adsorption capacity of uncalcined and calcined nanohydroxyapatite samples has been found to be 90.09 mg/g and 74.97 mg/g, respectively.

Opis:
Ifosfamide is a cytostatic drug commonly used in chemotherapy. One of the common adverse effects resulting from the treatment with ifosfamide is encephalopathy. This paper describes a case study of a 64-year-old patient who suffered from a full-blown encephalopathy as a result of chemotherapy administered during the treatment of fibrosarcoma of the femur. It provides a hypothesis of the mechanism behind toxic effects of ifosfamide on the central nervous system and elaborates on a number of documented ways of preventing aforementioned complications.
