- Some (12,000 volumes of books and about 400 periodicals form the scope of this specialized library. A special care ils devoted to collect all possible publications on conservation, restoration, catalogues, inventories and the other works dealing with both movable and immovable monuments as well as problems connected with historical monument protection. Besides, publications issued by Polish and foreign museums are gathered and also all works pertaining to museum problems. A quite special division of carefully collected material forms that containing the exhibition catalogues. This collection at present contains several thousands of printings and among them a certain number of unique items dating back to the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. Within the reference library a full set of encyclopaedic editions, as well as reference books and dictionnaries is available. The books ‘and periodicals are being gathered on the basis of purchases, donations and to some extent are also coming from exchange against the Centre’s publications. Thils exchange is beding carried with some fifty foreign scientific institutions and in addition some items are obtained on 'the exchange basis from the foreign museums. The (Library is the Centre’s internal division with the number of visitors ranging to about 1,000 a year.
