The Barcelona model is one of the most widespread models used in the nonlinear finite element method for simulating the real behavior of concrete. The strong robustness of this model can be attributed to two main reasons, the first one being its ability to account for the elastic stiffness degradation induced by plastic straining and the second one the aptness of considering the stiffness recovery effects under cyclic loading. This model was examined in the paper by comparing the generated stress–strain diagrams with several analytical solutions from the literature. The comparing process in the compression and tension cases with the closed-form solutions of Desayi, Krätzig, Lubliner and Thorenfeldt proved that the Barcelona model provided identical outcomes with Lubliner’s formula, which was used as the hardening function in the finite element implementation of this model. What is more, this model provided the same curves in case of the others in the ascending branches, and for the descending branch, this study proved that the outcomes of the Barcelona model are completely different from the ones of Desayi in the compression case and slightly similar to Thorenfeldt’s curves in the tension case.

W roku 2013 rozpoczął się proces zamykania specjalizacji polonistycznej na Uniwersytecie Barcelońskim. Tym samym kończy się ponad trzydziestoletnia historia jej istnienia na uczelni. Pierwsze lektoraty języka polskiego były przedmiotami fakultatywnymi, nauczanymi w ramach specjalizacji slawistycznej, później uzyskały status obowiązkowych w programie kształcenia obowiązującym na filologii słowiańskiej, a następnie w roku 2009 polonistyka stała się osobną specjalizacją oferowaną na kierunku języki i literatury współczesne. W naszym artykule przedstawiamy wybitnych twórców barcelońskiego ośrodka polonistycznego oraz rozwijane przez nich badania literaturoznawcze i językoznawcze. Omawiamy aktualne funkcjonowanie ośrodka na powstałym w roku 2019 „nowym” Wydziale Filologii i Komunikacji. W części końcowej referatu dzielimy się refleksjami dotyczącymi perspektyw rozwoju studiów i badań polonistycznych w kontekście reformy struktury studiów filologicznych w Hiszpanii.
The process of closing the Polish specialization at the University of Barcelona began in 2013. As a consequence, the over thirty-year-long history of its existence at this university is coming to its end. The first Polish language courses were part of the elective teaching offer of the Slavic specialization; next they became a compulsory part of Slavic Philology, and in 2009 Polish specialization was created as part of a degree Modern Languages and Literatures. In their article, Agnieszka Mejnartowicz and Pau Freixa Terradas present the outstanding creators of the Barcelona center and the research fields they have developed within the framework of the literature and linguistic specialization. They discuss the current functioning of the center at the “new” philology department of the University of Barcelona, transformed in 2019 into the Faculty of Philology and Communication. In the final part of the article, they share their reflections on the perspectives for the development of Polish language and research programs in the context of the reform of the structure of philological studies in Spain.

Celem artykułu jest analiza polityk integracji osób objętych ochroną międzynarodową w wybranych aglomeracjach europejskich (takich jak między innymi Barcelona, Berlin, Glasgow czy Amsterdam). Szczególna uwaga została skierowana na wyzwania lokalne po 2015 roku i tzw. kryzysie migracyjnym. Większość dostępnych opracowań długo pomijało bowiem aspekty odpowiedzialności miast za zarządzanie długofalowymi procesami społeczno-demograficznymi, skupiając się głównie na polityce i rozwiązaniach unijnych czy ogólnokrajowych. Wyzwania związane z rynkiem pracy, aktywizacją zawodową osób zagrożonych wykluczeniem społecznym, edukacją, antydyskryminacją, partycypacją społeczną i polityczną mieszkańców czy polityką mieszkaniową dotyczą finalnie przyjmujących i przyjmowanych społeczności oraz osób decyzyjnych na poziomie lokalnym.
The main aim of the article is to analyse integration policy towards persons under international protection in selected European agglomerations (such as Barcelona, Berlin, Glasgow, and Amsterdam). The main attention has been paid to local challenges after 2015 and the so called “migration crisis”. Most of the articles available have overlooked aspects of the cities’ responsibility for long-term socio-demographic processes. Researchers have focused mainly on EU and national policies and solutions. Challenges related to the labour market, professional integration of people at risk of social exclusion, education, anti-discrimination, social and political participation of residents, and housing policy apply to migrant and host communities, and decision-makers at the local level.

The paper deals with the Modernist housing design in Barcelona during ‘50s and ‘60s. In this period, the architecture culturally committed was struggling against Francoist censorship and the wild real estate development. The urban landscape is characterized by the housing design that can be considered a critical interface between the houses ground plan layout and the arrange-ment of the urban tissue at the settlement scale. The evolution of the Modernist housing design in Barcelona is the outcome of a dialectic be-tween long-lasting types as the H-model, a strong will to be modern expressed by architects as a reaction against the cultural lack of Francoism, the avant-garde heritage, namely the GATCPAC (Group of Catalan Architect and Technicians for the Promotion of Contemporary Architecture) and the research aimed to resume the traditional Barcelonese way of built-in which lays the city identity. By this point of view, we can argue that the concept of resilience in spite of its use as buzz word in the last 15 years is rooted in the history of the city: Barcelona it’s an example due to the “resistance” carried on by the modernist architects that was the background for the Renaissance of the city since the Olimpic Games onward.

Este artículo indaga sobre distintos aspectos de la relación de Barcelona con el cine. En la primera parte, siguiendo el hilo de la película Vida en sombras (1949) del cineasta catalán Llorenç Llobet Gràcia, se evidencia el protagonismo de Barcelona como impulsora del desarrollo del cine y de sus progresos tecnológicos, y como centro de producción, distribución y exhibición cinematográfica. En la segunda parte se aborda el papel de Barcelona como escenario cinematográfico. Adoptando la perspectiva de la cinematic urban archaeology, se comentan, a través de una selección de películas, las transformaciones experimentadas por la capital catalana desde finales del siglo XIX hasta nuestros días. Las películas constituyen un observatorio privilegiado para estudiar la metamorfosis del paisaje urbano barcelonés y los cambios políticos, sociales y económicos más significativos sufridos por la ciudad durante más de un siglo: el imponente desarrollo urbano e industrial entre los siglos XIX y XX, la guerra civil española y la dura posguerra, el boom económico y la expansión urbanística incontrolada bajo el mandato del alcalde franquista José María de Porcioles (1957-1973), la restauración de la democracia y, finalmente, el renacimiento urbano de los años ochenta y noventa, impulsado por la nominación de la ciudad como sede de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992.

In the Europe of the European Union, policies and programmes on the social inclusion of millions of Euros have been presented for years in different countries, with a greater concentration in the countries of the South and neighbouring countries. This issue is of concern to state, regional and also local governments. The strategies proposed are also multilevel. It is the latter that have the most complicated role since they are the ones that are closest to the problem.  For this last level of public administration, the main obstacle is the lack of resources, becoming clearly dependent on European, national and autonomous funds. The analysis of the plans guides us as to which aspects are the most important. This is the case of Barcelona, because it is an example of inclusive support measures and teamwork on a European and international scale. A theoretical model derived from the analysis of the theory and the results of the application of the different social policies of inclusion through training is presented, in which the leader has a determining role and a new actor is incorporated into the traditional models.

Lilly Reich była jedną z najbardziej znanych i wpływowych kobiet lat 20. i 30. XX wieku. Przez sobie współczesnych uznana została za prekursora nowoczesnego designu, a zwłaszcza za cenioną specjalistkę w zakresie wystawiennictwa. Celem artykułu jest skrótowe przedstawienie jej życiorysu oraz ukazanie najbardziej znanych realizacji, także tych współtworzonych z jej życiowym partnerem Ludwigiem Mies van der Rohe. Ich współpraca trwała od 1926 roku aż do czasu jego emigracji do Stanów Zjednoczonych w 1938 roku. Artystka ceniona w swoich czasach została po śmierci na kilkadziesiąt lat zapomniana, a jej dorobek oraz wkład twórczy w wiele realizacji, z których znany jest obecnie wyłącznie Mies van der Rohe, przez długi czas były zapomniane lub przemilczane. Artykuł został napisany na podstawie przeglądu literatury, w tym czasopism z przełomu lat 20. i 30.
Lilly Reich was one of the most famous and influential women of the 1920s and 1930s. At that time she was already considered a precursor of modern design, especially in the field of exhibition design. The article briefly outlines her biography, lists her most known and recognized projects, including those she designed with her lifetime partner Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. They worked together from 1926 until 1938, when Mies van der Rohe emigrated to the United States. Lilly Reich, widely known and popular in her time, seems to have been forgotten over the next decades. Many of her works are known only because they were co-designed by Mies van der Rohe. The article has been written on the basis of a thorough literature review, including newspaper and magazine articles from the 20s and 30s.

El Raval – part of Ciutat Vella is a successful revitalization example, where cultural development has been introduced into degraded and neglected neighborhood. Cultural institutions: MACBA, CCCB and Maritime Museum have released its tourism potential. New public spaces La Rambla del Raval and Angel's Square are socially vital and consequently initiate social relations. As a result, Barcelona "regained" its historical but previously degraded city center - Ciutat Vella. The main objective is to identify: “What has made the El Raval revitalization program so successful?”. On-site researches in Barcelona's El Raval district provided the primary source of knowledge.
Dzielnica El Raval w Ciutat Vella stanowi przykład skutecznej rewitalizacji poprzez wprowadzenie funkcji kultury w zdegradowany obszar. Nowe przestrzenie publiczne przykładowo La Rambla del Raval i Plac Aniołów koncentrują życie społeczne i sprzyjają budowaniu relacji międzyludzkich. Instytucje kultury MACBA, CCCB i Muzeum Maritime stanowią atrakcje turystyczne o znaczeniu międzynarodowym. W efekcie Barcelona "odzyskała" historyczne i uprzednio zdegradowane centrum miasta - Ciutat Vella. Głównym celem badań jest określenie, co zadecydowało o sukcesie programu rewitalizacji w El Raval. Badania na miejscu w dzielnicy El Raval w Barcelonie stanowiły element wyjściowy do dalszych rozważań.

The topic of the article are the complex stages of the formation of the Bon Pastor neighbourhood in Barcelona, and contemporary efforts to create the remembrance space system that would preserve the social memory and historical identity of the place. The author presents how the urban development plans for the district were transformed as a result of major changes in national politics, economy, and social policy, since the 1930s, through 60s and 70s, till today. The article describes the Bon Pastor Civic Memory project as an interesting example of a participatory action aimed at the preservation of local heritage. The implementation of the Civic Memory project was possible due to the neighbours’ initiative and their cooperation with cultural and academic institutions. The aim of this project is to mark certain points of the territory which possess historically and socially significant value, and to enhance them through public art, urban design and other implementations envisaged. The Association of residents of Bon Pastor (Barcelona) has been characterized, since 1974, for its combative and vindictive nature, at the same time as for its great capacity to launch solidarity initiatives and manage complicated processes to improve the living conditions of residents of the neighbourhood. After the struggles to obtain a health centre, the improvement of communications by metro and bus, and the constant improvement of public space, in recent years, the Association is co-managing with the Barcelona City Council, the radical transformation of the neighbourhood. The different phases for the remodelling of the neighbourhood, by replacing the so-called “cheap houses” with new buildings, with more spacious apartments and with better material conditions, is coming to an end and now, the possibility opens up, driven by the neighbours and the Museum of the History of the City (MUHBA) to have a metropolitan museographic space devoted to the presentation and study of the evolution of workers’ and popular housing in Barcelona.

The paper is a part of a wider research developed by the authors since 2014 about the relationship between Modern Architecture in Barcelona and Milan between ’40s and ’60s . Here a particular building type the „double slab” has been investigated. It is based on a modular design system for housing quite popular among architects in Barcelona and throughout Spain. The “double slab” is very well typologically defined and for this reason got a strong identity but at the same time it is quite flexible and easy to be adapted to different styles which span from pre-modernism to the contemporary styles passing through the Regionalism.

Opis:
The mutual exchange between Barcelona and Milan since the ‘50s and the ‘80s analyzed by the standpoint of the dissemination of the culture supported by the media popular at those time that means the magazines. The interrelation between the two cities by one hand was a way to escape from the suffocating control of the Francoist dictatorship. By hte otherside was to disseminate the School of Milan conception of modernsim, far from the myth of the technology and clser to context and a critical view of the history.
