Opis:
The ceramic coating on aluminum alloy was prepared in sodium metasilicate electrolyte by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO). The effect of PEO treating time on surface layer was investigated. The morphology and phase composition of the ceramic coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The effect of the electrolyte contents on the growth mechanism, element distribution and properties of oxide layers were studied. Oxide coatings morphology is strongly dependent on PEO process time. The microdischarges characteristics were studied as well, and it is shown that size of microdischarges becomes larger with increasing time of PEO. XRD analysis showed that Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation coating has hard, dominantly Al₂O₃ phase.

Opis:
The effects of the thermal cycles on the microstructures and properties of ductile iron modified by electrolytic plasma treatment were investigated. Microstructure changes occurring in the modified surface were characterized with scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometry techniques. Martensitic structure evolved in the heat affected zone and ledeburite structure was produced in the molten zone of the ductile iron. Microhardness of the treated specimens improved considerably as compared to the original sample. X-ray diffraction clearly revealed the formation of a martensite phases in the modified zone.

Opis:
Population densities of excited CI and CII levels are calculated in helium and argon plasmas containing small admixtures of $\text{CO}_{2}$. Calculations are performed for a total pressure of 1 atmosphere, in a temperature interval from 8000 K to 40000 K, assuming local thermal equilibrium (LTE) and partial local thermal equilibrium (pLTE) conditions. Normal temperatures are obtained for selected excited CI and CII levels. The results are applied to a helium plasma with traces of $\text{CO}_{2}$, of cylindrical symmetry with presumed radial temperature distribution. Effective intensities of CI and CII spectral lines, corresponding to side-on radiance measurements along the cylinder diameter are evaluated. On hand of these effective line intensities and applying the Boltzmann plot method effective temperatures are evaluated and compared with the presumed temperature distribution.

Celem niniejszego opracowania jest prezentacja dorobku naukowego Janusza Wojciecha Libickiego – ekonomisty, oficera Wojska Polskiego i „katyńczyka”. Jako zwolennik szkoły neoklasycznej oraz stosowania metody matematycznej zajmował się manipulowaniem pieniądza przez bank centralny, kryzysami agrarnymi, nowoczesną teorią kosztów produkcji, równowagą przedsiębiorstwa i rentą producenta, teorią opodatkowania i wydatków publicznych. Był uznawany za nadzieję polskiej ekonomii okresu międzywojennego. Niestety, został zamordowany w okolicach Katynia i szybko zapomniany przez polskich ekonomistów.
The aim of this study is to present the scientific output of Janusz Wojciech Libicki, an economist, Polish Army officer, and Katyń victim. As an advocate of the neoclassical school and of the application of the mathematical method, he dealt with the manipulation of money by the central bank, agrarian crises, modern production cost theory, company balance and producer’s rent, taxation and public expenditure theory. In the interwar period, he was considered to be the hope of Polish economics. Tragically, he was murdered near Katyń and quickly forgotten by Polish economists.

Opis:
This work is devoted to the production of microparticles via pulsed laser ablation from a solid cobalt target immersed in three different solutions of distilled water as well as in ethanol and in acetone, to study the effect of liquid media on the physical properties and structure of particles. The samples were characterized using XRD, SEM and particle size analysis. More than simply Co particles have resulted in each three liquid media, CoO particles were produced only in acetone, whereas Co₃O₄ particles were predominantly produced in water and ethanol.

The determination of prior-austenite grain size has been the subject of metallurgical research efforts for many years. Metallurgical laboratories are often required to perform prior-austenite grain size determinations on martensitic steel components that have been heat treated. Although these methods may occasionally be mandated by material or procedural specifications, they are typically not preferred because they have a tendency of altering the as-received microstructure. These processes can also be labour-intensive and costly. The goal of this work is to chemically etch and identify the prior austenite grain size and martensitic structure of AISI 4140 steel treated by plasma electrolysis. Polished samples were immersed in 60% HCl, 30% $HNO_3$, 5% HF, 5% $H_2O$ for 5 seconds then immersed in 5% picric acid, 5% HCl, 90% ethanol to reveal microstructures. Finally, the grain boundary and lath martensitic structure were revealed.

Opis:
The effects of pulse-on duration and finishing operation on the surface roughness and electrical resistivity of AISI D2 tool steel machined by the electrical discharge machining process are investigated. Experimental results indicate that surface roughness increased depending on the pulse-on duration. However, after the specific value, surface roughness is decreased. It can be seen that there are no notable effects of the pulse-on duration on the electrical resistivity, but the resistivity values are affected by the heat treatment and the finishing operation. Also, light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy have been used to study the characteristics of the surfaces.

The corporate governance system in Russia, having evolved through years, can be characterized by the following features: the dominant role of the concentrated ownership structure, corporate supervision relying on a combination of ownership function and company management, the significant role of the state as the owner, and the fairly marginal relevance of external market mechanisms. Those features result partly from particular legal solutions and partly from the unwritten, informal customs or patterns of behaviour of the so-called informal institutions.The article’s main thrust is to analyse selected informal institutions which were considered the most significant from the Russian corporate governance system point of view. These are, among others: the tendency not to obey the rights of minority shareholders, informal relationships of enterprises with authorities of various levels, and corruption. The author assumes that informal institutions decide upon the specificity of the corporate governance system in Russia and its particular elements, and upon the efficient functioning of supervisory mechanisms.

The aim of this work was the evaluation of ion-beam induced luminescence for the characterization of luminescent oxide materials containing rare earth elements. The yttrium aluminium garnet epilayers doped with Nd, Pr, Ho, and Tm atoms were used. The ion-beam induced luminescence spectra were excited using 100 keV $H_2^{+}$ ion beam and were recorded in the wavelengths ranging from 300 nm up to 1000 nm. The separate parts of the surface of the same samples were used for ion-beam induced luminescence and cathodoluminescence experiments. Cathodoluminescence spectra have been recorded in the range from 370 nm up to 850 nm at 20 keV e-beam in scanning electron microscope equipped with a grating spectrometer coupled with a photomultiplier. The observed narrow ion-beam induced luminescence lines can be ascribed to the well known radiative transitions in the rare-earth ions in the YAG crystals. The cathodoluminescence spectra reveal essentially the same emission lines as ion-beam induced luminescence. The decrease of the ion-beam induced luminescence lines intensity has been observed under the increasing ion fluences. The ion-beam induced luminescence may be used for characterization of transparent luminescent materials as an alternative method for cathodoluminescence and can be especially useful for observation of ion-beam damage formation in crystals.

Amplification of an acoustic wave is considered in magnetised piezoelectric n-type semiconductor plasma under quantum hydrodynamic regime. The important ingredients of this study are the inclusion of quantum diffraction effect via the Bohm potential, statistical degeneracy pressure, and externally applied magnetostatic field in the momentum balance equation of the charged carriers. A modified dispersion relation is derived for evolution of acoustic wave by employing the linearization technique. Detailed analysis of quantum modified dispersion relation of acoustic wave is presented. For a typical parameter range, relevant to n-InSb at 77 K, it is found that the non-dimensional quantum parameter H reduces the gain while magnetic field enhances the gain of acoustic wave. The crossover from attenuation to amplification occurs at (ϑ₀/ϑₛ)=1 and this crossover point is found to be unaffected by quantum correction and magnetic field. It is also found that the maximum gain point shifts towards lower drift velocity regime due to the presence of magnetic field while quantum parameter H shifts this point towards higher drift velocity. Numerical results on the acoustic gain per radian and acoustic gain per unit length are also illustrated. Our results could be useful in understanding acoustic wave propagation in magnetised piezoelectric semiconductor in quantum regime.
