Opis:
The aim of this paper is to explore and present a proposal for redesigning elements of the workplace for agech workers. The method of research was to observe, record, and measure the actions of sitting workers performing assembly operations on electrical products in the Kani Plant Nagoya Works of Mitsubishi Electric Co. (Japan). The evaluation index used in the experiment was obtained by measuring time motion elements, cycle time per product, and motion velocity waves of elderly workers. Those motion characteristics were then compared to the motion characteristics of young workers. The results led to job redesign elements being identified to reduce handling factors of high difficulty for aged workers and to the necessity to consider a coefficient of correction in Method Time Measurement (MTM) according to differences in the manufactured object’s weight.

This study attempted to identify a direct relationship between the design characteristics of a manually-assembled product, exposure to work-related ergonomic risk factors, and improvement in product quality. The study considered (a) Accessibility (ease of approach) and Guidance (ease of alignment and positioning) as Design Variables, (b) Shoulder Abduction, Trunk Lateral Flexion, Rate-Normalized Percentage of Maximal Voluntary Contraction (%MVC) of the Wrist Flexors, Wrist Extensors, and Deltoids, and Frequency of Attachment as Ergonomics Variables, and (c) Percentage of Attachment Too Loose, Too Tight, and Misaligned as Quality Variables. Postural data, surface EMG data, and quality data were collected from 10 participants performing four 10-min repetitive manual assembly tasks with plastic threaded nuts, bolts, flat parts, and open-box parts. Unobstructed accessibility of manually-assembled parts was associated with decreased exposure to awkward trunk posture, decreased activity of the wrist flexors and extensors, increased frequency of repetitive motion, and a decrease in the tendency to attach parts too loosely. Accessibility had no effect on misalignment defects as measured. Part guidance decreased the number of parts attached too tightly and aided in increasing the rate of assembly of parts when there was unobstructed access to parts

This paper presents 2 musculoskeletal disorders questionnaire surveys in 10 different Chinese occupational groups. Data collected from 1,603 workers using a modified Nordic musculoskeletal disorders symptom questionnaire showed that the 12-month prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders, particularly in the low back and shoulder-neck regions, was high at many Chinese workplaces. Significant differences existed between occupational groups. Assembly workers usually had higher neck-shoulder complaints compared to workers in most other occupations. However, the nature of assembly seemed also to influence the prevalence rate. Workers at a cassette recorder and a TV set assembly plant appeared to have more neck complaints compared with a group of thermos flask assemblers.

W pracy przedstawiono i omówiono sześć metod zamiany kodu graficznego na dźwiękowy w autorskiej metodzie kartowania sonorycznego. Eksperyment polegał na wykorzystaniu rysunku konturów granic Polski, odrysowanych pięcioma grubościami linii, z atlasu geograficznego (Polska-Europa-Świat - "Mapy konturowe" 2001). Dla każdej metody przedstawiono walory i ograniczenia w stosowaniu. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły określić czas potrzebny do wykonania testu sonorycznego z konturu graficznego i dokładność uzyskanej rejestracji linii konturowej w kodzie sonorycznym.
The work presents and explains six exchange methods of graphical code into sound code in the author's method of sonic map plotting. The experiment has relied on the use of Polish borders draft copied from the geographical atlas by means of five line styles. Each method was described in accordance to its valour as well as its limits of use. The researches enable to determine both a necessary time to perform the sonic test in relation to graphical outline and to an accuracy of line registration within the sonic code.

Opis:
The study aimed at reducing the occupational health and safety problems faced by the manual component insertion operators. Subjective and objective assessments, and direct observations were made in the printed circuit assembly factory. Simple and low-cost ergonomic interventions were implemented, that is, repairing chairs, reducing high workloads, assigning operators to a maximum of 2 workstations, confining machines that emitted bad smell and much noise, and providing finger work aids. The results of the interventions were reductions in operators’ work discomforts, that is, chair discomfort (by 90%), high work stress, and discomfort due to frequent change of their workstations. Their health hazards were also eliminated, that is, inhalation of toxic fumes, exposure to too much noise, and pain due to pressing sharp components.

Przedstawiono problemy związane z uszczelnieniami typu O-ring w wybranych konstrukcjach urządzeń okrętowych. Przytoczono typowe uszkodzenia elastomerów oraz ich przyczyny. Zwrócono uwagę na prawidłowy montaż uszczelnień typu o-ring w połączeniach spoczynkowych i ruchowych.
The article presents some problems with O-ring type seals that are in common use in marine machines. Typical failures of elastomers and their causes are discussed. Attention is drawn to correct assembly of o-ring seals in static and movable joints.

Uszkodzenie połączeń spoczynkowych prowadzi do poważnych awarii oraz długotrwałych przestojów maszyn. Ważne jest przywrócenie pełnej funkcjonalności połączeń spoczynkowych węzłów łożyskowych mających podstawowe znaczenie w prawidłowej współpracy części składowych maszyny. Tradycyjne metody regeneracji uszkodzonych węzłów łożyskowych nie gwarantują prawidłowego odtworzenia połączenia spoczynkowego i nie zapewniają wystarczającej trwałości oraz niezawodności. Połączenia klejone mogą ułatwić proces naprawy połączeń spoczynkowych zapewniając jednocześnie pełną funkcjonalność węzła łożyskowego. Należy jednak zwrócić uwagę przy połączeniach klejonych na sposób montażu oraz jego wpływ na bicie promieniowe elementów wklejanych.
The damage of resting connections leads to serious breakdowns as well as long-lasting standstills of machines. It is important to restore the full functionality of connections of resting bearing knots having a basic meaning in correct co-operation of parts of a machine. Traditional methods of regeneration of damaged bearing knots do not guarantee a correct reproduction of resting connections and do not assure their sufficient durability as well as reliability. Glue connections can facilitate the process of repair of resting connections assuring simultaneously full functionality of a bearing knot. However, the manner how the assembly is mounted as well as its influence on radial run-out of inserted elements should be taken into consideration.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę wyników otrzymywanych podczas obliczeń balansu linii montażowej dla problemu czasowo i kosztowo zorientowanego. Omówiono krótko ideę balansowania linii montażowej, następnie przedstawiono problem czasu i kosztów występujący podczas tworzenia harmonogramu i sekwencji zadań przydzielanych do linii. Przedstawiono również przykłady numeryczne, które pokazują różnicę w podejściu czasowym i kosztowym. Przeprowadzono analizę wyników i sformułowano wniosek, iż oba podejścia prowadzą czasem do różnych wyników.
In the paper the analysis of result of time-oriented assembly line balancig problem and cost oriented assembly line balancing problem is presented. Short description of assembly line balancing problem is given. Then the problem of time and costs in assembly systems is shown. The idea of cost-oriented algorithm is presented, too. Two examples are calculated and the results are discussed. As a conclusion an important note is given, that using of methods of time and cost oriented can lead to different results.

In recent years modelling has been applied to investigation of mixture formation, fluid flow, combustion process and pollutant formation in diesel engines. In this study numerical simulation was carried out to investigate the effect of fuel spray characteristics in marine medium speed diesel engine - Sulzer 6A20/24D. 1-D and 3-D CFD fuel spray model was adopted for simulation of atomization and combustion process. For comparison purposes modelling outcome was set against experimental tests results. Operational validation of injection assembly model was performed according to standard marine engine test cycles. Injection pressure history for full load range of the engine has been experimentally established. Fuel oil supply system, test engine cylinder experimental setup, 1-D engine fuel injection assembly model and geometry of cam profile, measured nominal injection duration, comparison of calculated and measured injection pressures, calculated nominal injection process components shape, the cross section of velocity flow field for nominal injection phase and for nominal injection phase, the cross sections of velocity flow field in hole channel for nominal injection phase after cut-off and for nominal injection phase after cut-of, the cavitation-induced spray formation process in modelled combustion chamber are presented in the paper.

Artykuł porusza problem rebalansu linii montażowej. Zaprezentowano znane metody heurystyczne wykorzystywane w problemie balansowania linii montażowej typu 1. Następnie zaproponowano sposób wykorzystania tych algorytmów do rebalansu linii montażowej, problemu występującego w fazie wdrażania nowego produktu na istniejącej już linii produkcyjnej.
Problem of rebalancing of assembly line is discussed. Known heuristic methods which are used in finding solution of assembly line balancing problem type 1 are presented. Next, usage of these algorithms for rebalancing of assembly line is proposed. The mentioned problem is very important in a production system during design and starting assembly of a new product.

The resistance to motion that accompany the combustion engine run affects its technical and economical indices. Appropriate modifications in design of constitutive parts as well as proper selection of kinematic pairs' collaboration data might lead to the minimization of resistance, above all the frictional one. In order to estimate precisely this resistance as well as the area and reasons of their generation certain measurement methods are implemented that facilitate size of resistance and changes occurring within a single cycle. Beside methods requiring interference into engine's construction other methods are used, among other the motoring method. Despite the advantages like simplicity, there are also problems with the use of this method. The most important are: different measuring conditions (no fires) and measurement of the resistance average value. In a course of described simulations evaluation of mutual relations between friction forces and torques relative to different sources have been carried out, in particular those relating to the crank - piston assembly. A trial to give the answer if it is possible to distinguish the effect of individual resistances at certain engine subassemblies in the total resistance torque was the main effect of presented analysis. Exemplary calculations have been carried out for the 170A.000 type engine.
