Opis:
The article presents the analysis of artifacts made of flint and non siliceous rocks. Altogether, during the survey, 41 pieces were obtained – 27 flint products and 14 stone ones. Artifacts made of silica rocks seem to have “a long” chronology – from the late Neolithic period through the Bronze Age to early Iron Age, and single may reach even significantly older periods (perhaps Mesolithic or early and middle Neolithic period). In the group of products made of non siliceous rocks, the only form possible to be linked to settlement of the Lusatian Culture seems to be fragmentarily maintained regular fragment of a battleaxe.

Opis:
Bulgarian museums, which present the National Revival period, form a whole category of exhibitions, the specifics of which are recognizable to a wide range of audiences. Themessages in these museums are not entirely unknown; on the contrary - there are certain preliminary expectations for them, the answer to which leads to satisfaction from the visit. In the minds of many Bulgarians, visiting these exhibitions, as well as the satisfaction of this act, are "mandatory". The artefacts construct an idea of the dynamics of social development, in which the virtues of the "old" society are complemented by modern European ideas of the era, and innovations in the life of Bulgarians happen only for the better. The presence of the exhibits in the museums of the Bulgarian National Revival is completely subordinated to the general presentation idea. Their main function is to illustrate the specific topic - the photograph visualizes a figure or location, the document testifies to them truth, and the personal belonging evokes adoration. From this point of view, artefacts play a supporting rather than a catalytic role - instead of "items with history", museums show "history complemented by items".

Opis:
Archaeological research of the Magdalenian culture site with triangles were continued in 2003-2005. They concentrated in the north-western part of the site on a slope leading down to the original lowering. One obtained more than 7 thousand flint artefacts, essentially repeating forms known from previous seasons. However, no stone structures typical of the upper party of the site was discovered. Radiocarbon dates obtained agree well with the earlier ones.

The article discusses legal regulations concerning archaeological research and searching for artefacts, including the requirements for issuing the relevant permits, funding for archaeological rescue excavations, and the issue of ownership of archaeological artefacts. The paper points out the inadequacy of many such regulations and their internal contradictions and inconsistencies. The proposed changes concern, among others: simplification of the procedure for issuing permits for archaeological research and searching for artefacts, restoration of the requirement to provide information on the persons who are to conduct the research in archaeological research permit applications, and increasing the possibility of rejecting such applications by Voivodeship Heritage Protection Officers, as well as the rules for archaeological research funding. Several changes to regulations on the ownership of artefacts, including those found during research and exploration, are suggested.

Opis:
In the early first century AC, in the north of Poland (predominantly in Pomerania), the Wielbark culture developed with its group of specific features. Among them were numerous items of jewellery. It seems that their use was related to an extended social hierarchy and distant inter-regional trade contacts. The raw material used by the jewellers was most probably obtained from melted Roman coins. Amber exports were at the economic basis of obtaining the coins. The most frequent forms of trinkets:snake- and adder-inspired bracelets, reverse pear pendants, S-shaped buckles and others, are of entirely foreign origin. Their prototypes can be traced back to the pre-Roman areas along the Danube occupied by the Thracians and the Dacians or the La Tène culture population.

I consider the problem of existence of virtual objects, mainly their mode of existence, while omitting the issue of the criteria of their existence. I present and analyze the concepts of modes (forms, kinds) of existence of virtual objects proposed in the literature of the subject, and then I demonstrate my own position on the issue. My position on the existence of virtual objects has certain points coinciding with the already postulated views, but at the same time it differs from them in some basic aspects. In my view virtual objects are “born” in human individual consciousness as the objects of specific creative states of the mind. So initially they are private objects belonging to the individual subjective sphere. However, their final and ready forms emerge in complex processes of objectifying and autonomizing the respective private conscious states and their objects. In these processes the private objects are transformed into objects intersubjectively accessible and existing in the collective cultural sphere. In both their forms, initial and final, virtual objects are non-material entities: first subjective, then objective. The ontic status of virtual objects is very similar to the status of intangible ideas and all the non-material objects created by the human mind. The main difference consists in that virtual objects are expressed by the use computers programmes, while other non-material objects created by human beings are expressed by use of words, pictures, literature and art works, etc.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to present the use of iron in ancient Egypt up to the beginning of the Late Period. The presentation of the development of metallurgy of this metal will be possible through the analysis of the preserved objects and their fragments, which show the subsequent stages of learning about the new raw material and the gradual adoption of various methods of iron processing. Due to the fact that no traces of iron processing workshops have survived from the times preceding the Late Period, the analysis of the preserved iron artifacts will enable the reconstruction of subsequent stages of the development of this metal metallurgy. Equally important as objects are the sources from which the Egyptians could obtain iron and the routes by which they imported it, because their presence is one of the basic requirements for metallurgy to develop and spread. I in studying the development of iron treatment the texts in which there is terminology describing iron will be also helpful. Furthermore, by reviewing the contexts of its use, it will be possible to enrich knowledge about the metallurgy of this metal. The analysis of the above points will allow to present a complete picture of iron metallurgy in Egypt.

The cultural spread of religious representations is determined by both cognitive and non-cognitive determinants. While the cognitive determinants have been studied by the cognitive science of religious, much less attention is given to such determinants of religious thought as language, especially written language, and material artefacts. This article focuses on the role of material artefacts in the creation, cultural transmission, cognitive processing and stabilizing of religious representations. It points out to such functions of material artefacts as the extension of memory, externalization of mental representations, anchoring conceptual structures and strengthening the sense of reality of culturally postulated supernatural beings and phenomena.

An assemblage of 12 artefacts from a Bronze Age hoard was found in the Forest District of Okonek, Złotów Dstrict, Wielkopolskie Voivodeship and was subject to non-destructive testing of chemical composition. The conducted analyses show that the content of particular elements in the examined artefacts, especially copper and tin, as well as the content of additional ingredients of alloys that have an effect on their quality (lead, antimony and arsenic), is strongly varied. Based on the observed differences in the composition of bronze alloys from which particular artefacts are made, one can conclude that not all of them were produced in the same artisan workshop.

Opis:
By 2019 more than 70 sites had been discovered in the area of the High Bieszczady Mountains, most of them located within the Połonina Wetlińska massif. The sites discovered in 2017-2019 constitute two groups: sites represented by (1) single artefacts (Wetlina 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 63, 64, 65, Bukowska Pass, site 1) and (2) small series of artefacts (Wetlina 54, 55, 60, 62). Both groups include artefacts datable to the Late Neolithic and the Bronze Age. Moreover, there are no sufficient grounds to claim homogeneity of assemblages found in Wetlina 54, 55, 60 and 62. It is possible that at least some of these sites could have been used many times during the Late Neolithic and Bronze Age periods. These finds confirm seasonal use of the High Bieszczady for grazing animals, probably within a system similar to the transhumant pastoralism practiced in European mountains.

In this paper, the authors are showing a calculation of the road quality index called Simple Road Quality Index (SRQI) using the weight provided by the amateur drivers to best possibly rate their comfort on driving on that road. The index is calculated from acceleration data acquired by the smartphone application and is aggregated in a crowdsourcing system for the classification of road quality using the fuzzy membership function. The paper shows that the proposed index correctly shows road quality changes over time and may be used as a way to mark roads to be avoided or needs to be repaired. The numerical experiment was based on the same street in Lublin, Poland, in 2015-2021 and is correctly showing that the quality of analyzed roads deteriorated over time, especially in the winter season.
