Opis:
In this study some new o-benzimidazol-2'-yl-benzamido-p'-benzamido-2-phenyl-4-substituted phenyl-5-oxo-Imidazolines 3a-3j were synthesized. To synthesized target molecules we used various substituted oxazolone derivatives, synthesized from substituted benzaldehyde with hippuric acid. Substituted oxazolones 2a-2j were reacted with carbohydrazide derivative of benzimidazole 1 in presence of pyridine as base to obtained substituted imidazolinone derivatives. All synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, elemental analysis and further supported by mass spectroscopy. All synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria which showed moderate to good activity. All compounds showing good to moderate active against fungal strain as compare to standard drug.

Opis:
InWO3 -TiO2 nanocomposite material was synthesised by co-precipitation method and sonication technique. The synthesized nanomaterial was characterized by FE-SEM with EDX, HR-TEM, XRD, FT-RAMAN, AFM and BET surface area measurements. The photocatalytic activity of InWO3-TiO2 nanocomposite material was studied from the photodegradation of malachite green (MAG) under UV-light irradiation. The photodegradation of MAG at various parameters are reported. The Photodegradation was found to follow the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The Hydroxyl radical formation in the mechanism was confirmed by fluorescence quenching technique. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared nanomaterials has also been investigated. Cyclic voltammeter (CV)) measurements analysis of the prepared nonamaterial was discussed in detail. It was proposed that the catalyst was found to be stable and reusable.

Opis:
A series of fourteen derivatives of adamantane was synthesised. The new compound 4-(adamant-1-ylmethoxycarbonyl)phthalanhydride obtained from 1-adamantane- methanol and trimellitic anhydride chloride appeared very useful for preparation of a number of N-substituted phthalimides. Antimicrobial activity of the newly obtained derivatives such as, for example, 4-(adamant-1-ylmethoxycarbonyl)-N-(5-carboxypentamethylene)phthalimide or 4-(adamant-1-ylmethoxycarbonyl)-N-(L-alanyl)phthalimide was tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus sp., Micrococcus flavus and Enterococcus faecium. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) for these compounds against S. aureus were 0.022 and 0.05 μg/ml, respectively.

Opis:
The aim of our study was to evaluate and compare antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of aqueous, methanol and chloroform extracts of leaves of Allium ursinum (A. ursinum). Total phenol (TPC) and flavonoid (TFC) content in extracts and antioxidant activity using DPPH (1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) assay were determined spectrophotometrically. In vitro antimicrobial activity was tested by microdilution method. The highest TPC and TFC were observed for chloroform extract. The extracts showed different degrees of antimicrobial activity. The intensity of antimicrobial action varied depending on the group of microorganism and the type of extracts. Our results demonstrated rational basis for the traditional uses of A. ursinum in alleviation of oxidative stress and against various pathogenic microorganisms.

Opis:
Lactoferrin (LF) is an iron-binding glycoprotein from the transferrin family, which has been identified in most biological fluids as secretions from exocrine glands and the content of specific granules of neutrophils. It has been reported to have numerous functions. Due to antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity, the lactoferrin plays significant role in host defense against infection and extreme inflammation. Recent studies have also demonstrated that LF can protect against cancer in experimental animals and has anticarcinogenic activity in many human tumors. At the cellular level, LF modulates the proliferation, differentiation, maturation, activation, migration and function of immune cells. This review presents the multifunctional roles and specific beneficial properties of lactoferrin.

Opis:
Azurocidin is an inactive serine protease homolog with primary sequence similarity to neutrophil elastase, cathepsin G, and proteinase 3. The aim of this study was to investigate possible consequences of differential glycosylation of azurocidin in regard to its secretion, protein stability as measured by susceptibility to proteolysis, and antibacterial activity. Site-directed mutagenesis was employed to generate mutant azurocidin variants lacking individual N-glycosylation sites. Our results show that N-linked glycans may play a role in proper azurocidin folding and subsequent secretion by insect cells. We also demonstrate that N-linked glycosylation contributes to azurocidin stability by protecting it from proteolysis. The lack of N-glycosylation at individual sites does not significantly influence the azurocidin antibacterial activity.

SSixteen ethanolic extracts were obtained from seven different bee bread samples. The total flavonoid content in the extracts was determined by aluminium-chloride method and was in the range of 8.3 mg/L±6.24% to 195.3 mg/L±1.35% and 28.8 mg/L±19.33% to 603.3 mg/L±4.64% with reference to quercetin and rutin, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD) for parallel measurements for the calibration curves of quercetin dehydrate and rutin trihydrate were in the range of 0.51% to 9.39% and 5.02% to 19.91%, respectively. The RSD for parallel measurements for the extracts with reference to quercetin dihydrate and rutin trihydrate were in the range of 0.23% to 11.64% and 4.64% 19.33%, respectively. The total flavonoid content mainly depended on a ratio of bee bread to 50% ethanol and technology of obtaining bee bread. The significant differences between results were statistically confirmed. The best antibacterial activity of bee bread extracts was found against Bacillus cereus CCM 2010, Clostridium perfringens CCM 4435, and Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus CCM 4223. The activity of the bee bread extracts against Gram negative bacteria, Aspergillus and Penicillium genera was lower with moderate anticandidal activity. The obtained results indicated that it was very important to employ extracts with a high content of bee bread in 50% ethanol (1:5, 1:10). According to the results of this study, bee bread is a product which is rich in flavonoids and with good antibacterial activity against Gram positive bacteria and can be considered as a raw material for development of diet supplements and antimicrobial medicinal products
