In the Russian social thinking, the notion „dissident movement” has appeared twice. For the first time, as a historical and theoretical term in the essay The Dissident (1866) by Nikolay Sokolov, and then, a century later in the autobiographical The Confession of a Dissident (1990) by Alexander Zinoviev. Zinoviev considered „the dissident movement” to be social practices, which allow for social generalization. The first part of the article represents the thinking on the initial stage of dissident movement understanding. The Russian essay writers of the 60s of 19th century analyzed this phenomenon based on the European experience, and connected it with the revolutionary struggle against the government and society to build socialist future for the mankind. In the second part of the article, the „dissident movement” is seen as a trial of a philosopher and sociologist who lived in socialism and communist period, in order to describe the merciless technologies to eliminate an individual from the Soviet intelligent society, in the 60s and 70s of 20th century.

This paper aims to highlight the resemblances existing between the poetic art by Isidor Ducasse (Lautréamont) and the poetic and aesthetic realisations of some expressionist authors. We have mainly analysed the concept of antagonism which seems to be a cardinal component of both the Lautréamont’s poetics and most expressionist works. Another part of our analysis is dedicated to the hypertrophy of the author’s I instance, emblematic in the Lautréamont’s work, reminding the expressionist principle of irradiation of the author’s I. Furthermore, we have analysed the principle of exaggeration, so much visible in Chants de Maldoror. It aims an antinaturalistic derealisation of the poetic universe as well as a caricatured painting of the political and sociological reality. All those aspects enable some sociocritical participation of the literary work in a changing world.

Artykuł przedstawia kluczowe narzędzia i metody tzw. krytycznej teorii urbanistycznej zaproponowanej przez Oren Yiftachela, izraelskiego badacza i aktywisty wykładającego na Wydziale Geografii na Uniwersytecie Ben Guriona w Beer Shevie. Autorka omawia fenomen „szarej przestrzeni” (czy: „miejskich nieformalności”), który doskonale odzwierciedla niższy status niektórych obywateli miejskich, reprezentowany u Yiftachel przez autochtoniczną populację Beduinów. Tego typu zjawisko może być obserwowane również pośród innych zbiorowości w miastach przynależących do globalnego Wschodu czy Południa. Autorka podąża za izraelskim badaczem ku inspiracjom kolonialnym i (neo)marksistowskim, by przedstawić znaczenie pojęć „pełzającego apartheidu”, hegemonii, artykulacji i antagonizmu. Według Yiftachela marginalizowane grupy mają zdolność wyrażania swojej antagonistycznej postawy w miejskich, kulturowych i politycznych praktykach, np. poprzez tzw. „sumood” czy budowanie pamięci.
This article provides the crucial tools and methods of critical urban theory introduced by Oren Yiftachel, Israeli lecturer and activist in Department of Geography at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva. The author analyzes the phenomena of „gray spaces”, also termed as „urban informality” which is directly connected to the inferior citizenship’s condition of indigenous Bedouins and can be also linked to other populations in global South-East cities. Drawing to the colonial and (neo)Marxist language and relations, the paper invokes the concepts of „creeping apartheid”, hegemony, articulation and antagonism. The article argues for rethinking of the subalterns in terms of passive and unconcious groups. Regarding to the thought of Oren Yiftachel, the marginalized populations may articulate their antagonistic strategy by many urban, cultural and political practices, e.g. „sumood” or memory building.

Endophytes are an important constituent of sustainable agriculture because of their ability to produce a large number of agriculturally important metabolites. A salt-tolerant fluorescent green pigment-producing endophytic bacterium was isolated on 2.5% NaCl-supplemented nutrient agar from the leaf samples of Zanthoxylum alatum Roxb. The isolate Z1B4 was identified as Pseudomonas fluorescens based on morphological features, fatty acid methyl ester analysis, biochemical tests, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. P. fluorescens Z1B4 showed positive results for tricalcium phosphate solubilization; 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase activity; and production of auxins, siderophores, hydrogen cyanide, and ammonia. P. fluorescens Z1B4 also showed strong antagonistic activity against Curvularia lunata (MTCC 283), Fusarium verticillioides (MTCC 3322), and Alternaria alternata (MTCC 1362) and exhibited stress tolerance to a wide range of temperature and pH and concentrations of NaCl and calcium salts. Under natural conditions, following inoculation with the isolate Z1B4, a significant increase in the growth of pea and maize test plants in pots was observed compared to that of uninoculated control plants. The rifampicin-resistant mutant Z1B4Rif was recovered from the roots, shoots, and leaves of the test plants, indicating that the isolated endophytic bacterium can grow well within different plant tissues. The present study indicated that the endophytic bacterium P. fluorescens Z1B4 can be used as a bacterial inoculant in stressed environments for sustainable agriculture.

Clonal micropropagation is an effective method for plant reproduction, applicable in both scientific and industrial domains. However, a significant number of microclones are lost during the ex vitro acclimatization process. To address this, the introduction of beneficial microorganisms into the rhizosphere of micropropagated plants could have a positive effect on the survival rates and external characteristics of acclimatized plantlets. The aim of this study was to determine the protective and growth promoting potential of Enterococcus italicus ONU547 and its effect on micropropagated plants during acclimatization. The antagonistic activity of the bacteria was determined using the agar block method. Lepidium sativum L. seeds were inoculated with bacterial suspensions at concentrations of 106, 107, and 108 CFU/ml. Subsequently, the roots of the microclones were treated with suspensions of 106 and 107 CFU/ml, and biometric characteristics were measured. The results demonstrated antagonistic properties against various phytopathogenic fungi, including Aspergillus niger, Cladosporium cladosporioides, Alternaria alternata, Alternaria tenuissima, Rhizoctonia cerealis, Penicillium expansum, and Paecilomyces variotii. Inoculation of L. sativum L. seeds resulted in improved germination rates, increased root numbers, and enhanced root and shoot lengths. Similarly, the effects of the studied bacteria on Rubus fruticosus L. and Paulownia tomentosa Steud. during the acclimatization stage led to higher survival rates, increased shoot lengths, greater node numbers, and larger leaf areas. A concentration of 107 CFU/ml was identified as optimal for inoculating the microclones. The findings indicate that E. italicus ONU547 holds promise for the inoculation of micropropagated plants during the acclimatization process. Further research is recommended to establish the specific interaction mechanisms between these bacteria and plants.

Drugim tropem badawczym są ujawnione w korespondencji Adama Mickiewicza z Józefem Bogdanem Zaleskim słowa, które mogłyby świadczyć o zainteresowaniu autora Dziadów sztuką poetycką Juliusza Słowackiego. Studium jest próbą interpretacji [Pana Barona] jako utworu opartego na wyrafinowanym koncepcie artystycznym, który sytuuje się w pewnej bliskości do kategorii ironii romantycznej.
The paper presents the possibilities of interpreting an unfinished poem of Adam Mickiewicz, [“Pan Baron”] [“Mr Baron”], in the light of the main theme of this work, which is the agon as a struggle and contest between artists. An important evidence of this competition is a passage from Mickiewicz’s letter to Józef Bogdan Zaleski testifying to Mickiewicz’s interest in the poetic art of Juliusz Słowacki. Consequently, the study is an attempt to interpret [“Mr Baron”] as a piece based on a sophisticated artistic concept that situates itself close to the category of romantic irony.

The paper presents the results of the research on the effect of a biopreparate containing vegetative mycelium of Hebeloma crustuliniforme on the pathogenicity of Fusarium oxysporum, Pythium sp. and Rhizoctonia solani causing the damping−off of pine seedlings and on the growth of the pathogens under in vitro conditions. The obtained results do not clearly indicate the positive impact of H. crustuliniforme on seedling health.

In analyzing selected aspects of the debate over offending religious feelings, the author discusses Saby Mahmood’s argument that religiousness in public discourses of the Western world is basically perceived as a speculative phenomenon concerning the sphere of abstract beliefs. It is assumed therefore that the harm that can be produced by the publication of a blasphemous illustration is lesser and less palpable than in the case of hate speech directed toward a race or sexual orientation. The author’s analysis, which is undertaken from a Durkheim perspective, shows that, for example, the caricaturized presentation of a religious symbol constitutes not so much an act of undermining the abstract image as - in the affective perspective of the religious - an act violating the sense of ontological security of a given moral community which that symbol represents. At the same time, the Durkheim perspective facilitates an understanding of why religious symbolic resources can be ambivalently used in processes of legitimating social actions, beginning with constructive forms of civil public religions to extreme fundamentalist movements making use of violence and the discourses of political extremism.

Przedstawiono wyniki badań właściwości smarnych i termooksydacyjnych dwu i trójskładnikowych kompozycji smarowych na bazie syntetycznego oleju estrowego, uzupełnionych dodatkami o charakterze smarnym (PE) oraz przeciwutleniającym (naturalne tokoferole i komercyjny dodatek RC 9308). Oceny dokonanona podstawie granicznego obciążenia zużycia jako miary właściwości przeciwzużyciowych i czasu oksydacji jako miary stabilności oksydacyjnej. Stwierdzono, że pomiędzy badanymi dodatkami zachodzą oddziaływania zmieniające określone właściwości kompozycji smarowej. Pomiędzy dodatkiem smarnym (PE) i dodatkami przeciwutleniającymi występuje antagonizm działania przeciwzużyciowego (spadek wartości Goz) i synergizm niecałkowity działania przeciwutleniającego (wzrost czasu utleniania).
The paper presents the results of the research concerning the lubricant properties and thermooxidation stability of synthetic polyester lubricant containing additive lubricant (PE) and antioxidants (tocopherols and commercial additive RC 9308). The evaluation was based on the limiting load of wear as a measure of antiwear properties and oxidation time as a measure of oxidative stability. It was concluded that additives occur between the two effects, changing specific properties of the lubricant composition. Between PE and the antioxidant additive set, antiwear action antagonism (decrease Goz) and antioxidant incomplete synergism (increase oxidation time) occurred.

The present study was investigated to determine the competitive interaction between Gram positive (B. subtilis) and Gram negative (P. aeruginosa and E. coli) bacteria in vitro. Bacteria of interest were isolated from soil sample and were identified through morphological and biochemical tests. Bacterial cultures were grown alone and as co- culture in test tubes containing sterile broth. Bacterial growth and their growth inhibition in co- culture tubes were analyzed till 96 h through spectrophotometric assay and colony forming unit (CFU) assay. Spectrophotometric analysis and CFU/mL assay showed that the effect of B. subtilis on P. aeruginosa and E. coli in co- culture tubes was growth inhibitory. This is accompanied by the reduction in absorbance value and CFU/mL of the co-culture tubes. The bactericidal activity of B. subtilis was measured on P. aeruginosa and E. coli using agar well diffusion method. B. subtilis showed zone of inhibition of 8 mm and 6 mm against P. aeruginosa and E. coli, respectively. The antagonistic activity test of B. subtilis favoured the spectrophotometric and colony forming assay results. These results suggest that B. subtilis develop adaptational pathways by extracellular signaling molecules and antibacterial factors in order to compete with bacterial neighbors.

Autor artykułu stawia sobie za zadanie ukazanie skomplikowanej intertekstualności niedokończonego dramatu [Wallenrod] Juliusza Słowackiego. Po pierwsze, wskazuje na anty-marivaux’owską linię czytania utworu, a także uwypukla grę Słowackiego z Dekameronem Boccaccia. Po drugie, przesuwa datę powstania tekstu z 1841 roku na lata późniejsze − ze względu na obecną w [Wallenrodzie] symbolikę genezyjską. Po trzecie wreszcie, rozlicza się z dotychczasowym stanem badań sytuującym utwór przede wszystkim w świetle młodzieńczej twórczości Słowackiego oraz intertekstualności szekspirowskiej. Nowy typ − multiintertekstualnego – odczytywania [Wallenroda] ma tymczasem unaocznić, że nawet tekstowość utworu jest dla Słowackiego instrumentem wspomagającym dekonstrukcję Mickiewiczowskiego pierwowzoru.
Author of the article aims to show the sophisticated intertextuality of Juliusz Słowacki’s unfinished drama [“Wallenrod”] [“Wallenrod”]. Firstly, he exposes the anti-Marivauvian line of [“Wallenrod”]’s reading as well as emphasises Słowacki’s game with Boccaccio’s Decameron. Secondly, he changes the supposed date of writing the drama − from 1841 to the later years − because of the genesian symbols present in [“Wallenrod”]. Thirdly, at last, he confronts the previous research locating the text primarily in the context of Słowacki’s juvenile works and Shakespearean intertextuality. Tom Trudny Norwid jest nie tylko próbą stworzenia „monografii niemożliwej”, lecz także ważnym, bo przekrojowym dokumentem ewolucji polskiej norwidologii (być może właśnie ta, a nie inna problematyka książki ów interesujący horyzont szczególnie uprzystępniała). Skutkiem tego – analizowany tu zbiór tekstów domaga się niejako dwóch dróg odczytywania i podlega tak samo dwóm równoległym ścieżkom interpretacyjnym. Jedna została wyznaczona przez temat całości tomu, druga realizowana jest mimowolnie, zwłaszcza w toku omawiania dyskusyjnych kwestii w obrębie dyscypliny. Ta druga wydała się autorowi niniejszego omówienia równie pasjonująca, co pierwsza. Stąd też jego próba syntetycznego połączenia obu interesów tej książki, choćby w ramach podtytułu niniejszego studium – hasła „trudnego Norwida trudnej norwidologii”.
The volume Trudny Norwid [Difficult Norwid] marks not only an attempt to create an “impossible monograph” but also an important, large-scale record of the evolution of Norwid Studies in Poland (perhaps it is exactly this and not the other issues addressed in the book that made this interesting perspective particularly accessible). As a result, the collection of texts examined here requires at least two ways of reading and is subject to the same two parallel interpretive paths. One of these was defined by the subject of the entire volume, while the other one is performed involuntarily, in particular in the course of discussing issues that are disputable in the discipline. The author of this review found the second interpretive path as exciting as the first, hence this attempt to synthesise the two interests of the book, if only under the heading of this study – the headword “difficult Norwid in difficult Norwid Studies”.
