Objective: The aim of this article is to evaluate alternative finance for the implementation of the basic assumptions and goals of sustainable development. Methodology: Using the comparative analysis the most frequent mentioned forms of alternative finance have been assessed. The analysis took into account both the assumptions and the basic goals of sustainable development. Results: The conducted analysis show that despite many features that indicate the inclusion of alternative finance in philosophy of sustainable development, the implementation of the basic assumptions and goals are arbitrary. Many of the alternative forms do almost realized nothing.Originality/Value: An juxtaposition of sources of financing with the concept of sustainable development is usually carried out when analyzing the funding opportunities for relevant initiatives. However, in this case, the assessment is concentrating on the sources of financing and implementation by them of the adopted sustainability assumptions and goals.

During the last 200 years, the school and the educational system in Spain have experienced an explosion of ideas, approaches, trends, models and pedagogical currents which proclaim themselves as alternative or innovative. In this article, we are going to compare the alternative models and practices with the traditional educational model. We are going to start with a conceptualization of traditional pedagogy and the alternative models which have been presented in Spain in recent years. The conclusions of the study are going to show the relevance of the alternative educational practices; a limited relevance, which is more retro than neo; a recovery of the pedagogical memory and an updating more than an innovation.

In the recent years, the European Community has been implementing a plan to increase the share of renewable fuels used for energy production and powering vehicles. It aims to partially reduce the dependence on crude oil imports and reduce CO2 emission. Particularly interesting are the achievements of Sweden against this background, for which the European Commission has set the highest value of the indicator, and to implement which Sweden adopted unconventional solutions across Europe. One of them is the plan to eliminate by the 2030 fossil fuels from the urban transport, and one of the fuels that is to replace today still widely used diesel oil, would be biomethane. The article describes the reasons and circumstances which made Sweden use biomethane to power buses used in urban transport on a very large scale, in comparison with other European countries. The article shows the characteristics of this fuel, the method of its production and application prospects.

Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogen responsible for health-care-associated infections as well as community acquired ones. It is the etiological factor of a wide spectrum of infections. Therapeutic problems are caused by resistance of S. aureus to many antibiotics, specifically to methicillin (methicillin-resistant S. aureus, MRSA). In such cases a limited spectrum of antibiotics may be used and prolonged hospitalization is costly. Hence, there is an urgent need for the development of alternative antibiotic therapeutics. This work reviews the current knowledge concerning prospective treatment of staphylococcal diseases.

Transport, as the core of the regional, national, and, undoubtedly, global economies, requires for undisturbed functioning a developed infrastructure; places where vehicles can be fueled, especially filling stations, are one of the most essential elements of this infrastructure. Electromobility, which is certainly becoming step by step the future of the wholly understood transport sector, will also need, like conventional transport, a specific infrastructure which will permit the refueling of electro-vehicles, too. Easily accessible public charging stations seem to be the most important element in developing electromobility in common transport. To assure such, complex legal regulations are necessary. The Polish legislature has responded to this necessity and is now pursuing work on laws regarding electromobility and alternative fuels. This article has two main emphases - analyze the proposed regulations in the matter of public charging stations and pinpoint the principal tasks in this score. The author hopes that this article will initiate larger interest in this developing institution in Poland.

Opis:
This paper argues that copular sentences without an overt copular predicate do project a VP with a phonologically null head, hence so-called “verbless” copular sentences are illusory. Data from Standard Arabic, Spanish, Maltese, Russian, Jamaican Creole, Finnish and Hungarian copular sentences are used to support this claim. It is also claimed here that variation between the habitual property vs. ad hoc property interpretations (traditionally called the individual level vs. stage level distinction) of non-verbal predicates found in copular sentences is closely related to the choice of the copula in multiple BE-system languages. Whilst the current accounts explain this variation by introducing an abstract aspectual operator or an incorporated abstract preposition in the functional layer of the copular predicate, the present proposal derives these interpretive differences from the presence or absence of an OPalt alternative state operator, which can bind the temporal variable of non-verbal predicates in two ways. Negation and temporal adverbials show scope ambiguity in copular sentences. They either take scope over the whole proposition or only over the non-verbal predicate. Such interpretive differences are demonstrated in Russian and Hungarian in Section 4 of this paper, however, they are taken to be valid cross-linguistically. These amibiguities cannot be explained under the “verbless copular sentence” account but fall out naturally from the “zero copula” analysis. The “alternative state” approach can be extended to dream narratives and other non-veridical contexts, which serve as alternative triggers. The existing analyses have nothing to say about such contexts.

The paper presents the declarative approach to design of a reference model aimed at project prototyping. The reference model contains the finite set of decision variables, their domains and linking those constraints, i.e. can be seen as a kind of Constraint Satisfaction Problem. Consequently, the model considered can be treated as a knowledge base specifying both a class of enterprises and the projects that could be conducted on their base. So, the model provides a platform for rapid prototyping of alternative versions of project scheduling. The routine queries can be formulated in the straight or reverse way. In that context, the proposed reference model can be implemented in constraint programming (CP) techniques

Opis:
Purpose: To investigate satisfaction of cancer patients, who have undergone cancer surgery, with nursing care and the association of patient satisfaction with demographic and clinical characteristics. Materials and methods: The study population consisted of 181 patients with cancer who have undergone surgery and were hospitalized in clinics of University General Hospital of Greece. The instrument used in the study was the «Measurement of patient satisfaction scale» (MPSS). The model of multiple linear regression was used with the method of backward stepwise linear regression. Results: The results of the study showed that patients were overall satisfied with nursing care. The areas they were less satisfied were «Resting time», «Information», «Education», «Personal preferences» and «opportunities for participation in care». The patient satisfaction had a statistically significant association with the following characteristics of the patients: (a) patient education, less educated patients showed higher levels of satisfaction (p<0.001) and (b) the hospitalization at the chemotherapy clinic, patients hospitalized at chemotherapy clinic showed higher levels of satisfaction than patients hospitalized in the other two clinics (p=0.002). Also, there was a statistically significant association between the patients education level and the item «I wish nurses have knowledge about alternative methods of dealing with some disease symptoms» (r=-0.22, p=0.003). Conclusions: The training of the nursing staff that work in clinics where patients with cancer are hospitalized, is necessary not only at a scientific level but also at a communication level. The satisfaction of surgical patients with cancer should be continually evaluated in order to assess patients’ needs, to improve poor or problematic aspects of care and to manage patients’ personalized and expressed needs.

The aim of the article: The crisis, both in the economic and financial markets, can lead to a sudden downturn and a loss of savings. For this reason, during a crisis, safe investments are essential to reduce risks and avoid losses. This year’s coronavirus pandemic has caused a lot of confusion in the financial and investment world as well. The pandemic led to turbulence in the financial market and made investors look for the so-called safe havens. In the literature, these havens often include alternative investments with a high demand for gold. This article aims to check the validity of using gold as an investment during a pandemic. Methodology: In the paper, in order to achieve the formulated aim, the following stages were carried out: critical analysis of the literature regarding the factors influencing investment decisions and the characteristics alternatives instruments. The last stage was based on statistical analysis using the Pearson correlation method. Gold prices were compared with quotations of two price indexes: WIG20 and S&P500. Results of the research: The conducted analysis shows that gold as an alternative investment is a good hedge in times of crisis, therefore, it is also the case during ongoing pandemic. Alternative assets fulfill a hedging function, minimizing the risk of losses. Moreover, thanks to a negative correlation with the market, they give a possibility to increase investors’ capital in times of crisis.

Islamic finance in the world of conventional finance is shown as specified type of finance dedicated to certain group of customers – Muslims. That is one of the reasons why the level of information covered the field is so limited. Overall goal of the article is to present the specified part of the Islamic finance – alternative investment, which are both in conventional and Islamic form, the newest parts of the whole area of investment. Going through eight groups of alternative investments with the introduction about the characteristics of the Islamic (Sharia’ah based) products, foundations with empirical combination of examples of Islamic investments are presented.Data for the research was collected in the HSBC Amanah and Kuwait Finance House. Its’ character is not quantitative, the method of data collection is interview with representatives of the institutions and analysis of internal financial documents. Research resulted in presentation of various types of the investments, which are similar to the alternative investments dedicated to conventional customers. In addition, study arose to fact that Muslim investors had almost the same number of investment products available as conventional once. The situation developed the conclusion that Islamic investments are the same attractive to both conventional and Muslim investors. What is more, the products are available in more and more financial institutions. Examples used for the research are both applicable for conventional customers, but for Muslim once only Kuwait Finance House is fully Sharia’ah complaint institution.
Informacja do przygotowana artykułu opierają się o wywiady z przedstawicielami instytucji finansowych, gałęzią bankowości muzułmańskiej w konwencjonalnym banku HSBC Amanah i drugiej instytucji finansowej – Kuwait Finance House. Uzyskane informacje mają charakter opisowy, nie liczbowy. Uzupełnieniem do wywiadów była analiza wewnętrznych dokumentów instytucji. Badania umożliwiły wyodrębnienie grup produktów inwestycyjnych, podobnych w swoim charakterze do produktów konwencjonalnych.

Opis:
Alternative payment methods become more and more popular among customers. Today, there is over 300 alternative payment schemes and more than 200 alternative payment methods what makes understanding the alternative payments difficult. Today APMs are the initial stage of their development. Despite the growing interest in alternative payment methods and instruments, there is still a lack of commonly accepted definition and precise market data. The purpose of the paper is to identify the alternative payment methods, provide their taxonomy, assess their development and describe associated risks of frauds. The review of APMs classification shows that they use different criteria: objective, subjective or combined. The paper proposes the definition that has changed those paradigms and has focused on payments’ innovativeness and their ability to fulfil customers’ expectations. The lack of homogenous taxonomy makes the assessment of the stage of APMs development difficult, but the paper presents the probe of such assessment based on the data of APMs usage in different regions of the world. The paper also identify frauds and threats related to APM : phishing, goods wheedling, keylogger software, malicious software, partner and DBOD risks. In the final part it discusses the factors influencing APMs further development such as new regulations, developing multichannel platforms and new business models, changes in consumer behaviour and concerns about the security. The results of the study are based on the critical analysis of available, not extensive existing literature regarding alternative financial services (including payments), statistical data of research companies and institutions altogether with consultancy firms’ reports.

While it has generally been accepted that non-professional media actors empowered by novel digitally networked technologies are changing the media landscape in the West, this is less obvious in the case of sub-Saharan Africa. Recent years, however, have seen the emergence of a diverse range of citizen media in Africa, enabled by technologies such as mobile phones, blogs, micro blogs, video-sharing platforms and mapping. Through in-depth and focus-group interviews with selected experts and citizen journalism practitioners, as well as a review of the existing body of research, this study aims to identify emerging patterns and trends in African citizen journalism, paying particular attention to the Zimbabwean case. The research hopes to establish the notion that digital technologyenabled citizen journalism, although still restricted to a subset of African countries, provides a powerful counter-narrative to professional media that are often constrained, or even controlled, by national governments.

Nowadays, much attention is paid to the elimination of heat sources poisoning our environment. The air pollution is the most dangerous form of pollution of the environment, due to its direct impact on all living organisms, coverage of large areas and easy movement of pollutants. Therefore, air protection is one of the priority directions of each voivodeship. Hence, many programmes are being developed to promote the replacement of the old heating devices with the new ones and the installation of renewable energy conversion devices. There is no doubt that the equipment which emits the most harmful compounds into the atmosphere includes the old boilers fired with coal, wood or wood chips. In winter, chimneys with black circular smoke are a frequent sight. This problem can only be solved by connecting houses to the public heating network or by removing the old stoves. In this publication, an analysis of the profitability of boiler replacement with coal was carried out in terms of the material and environmental benefits. It is proposed to replace this boiler with a pellet boiler, an eco-pea boiler and a gas condensing boiler. The boilers were selected on the basis of the calculated thermal output, which is equal to 18.56 kW.

Air pollution is becoming an important issue in big towns, inparticular in city centres, where the density of traffic is high. Both, passenger cars and commercial vehicles are responsible for air quality. In the last decades more and more transportation companies changed their conventional vehicles into any kind of alternative vehicles. The aim of this paper is to investigate the economic and environmental effects of introducing alternative fuels and power trains in cargo vans. All of the simulated vehicles were equipped with internal combustion engines, but they are operating with different fuels. Gasoline, methane, ethanol and hydrogen fuels are used in these engine models. Conventional and hybrid powertrains are compared too. Only the gasoline fuelled engine is simulated with hybrid driveline besides the conventional ones. Both micro- and full-hybrid vehicles are modelled. Instead of dynamical analysis we focused on efficiency and emission therefore tests drive cycles were simulated. There were cycles defined by standards, like NEDC drive cycle. An individual cycle was recorded on a given route at different times of the day; the vehicle was driven along the planned path and the speed profile was recorded. As a result we could compare the different vehicles from the point of view of emission, fuel consumption and efficiency. In order to validate the simulation results laboratorial measurements were carried out. We also aimed at developing a business model capable ofanalysing the economical effects of alternative fuel and powertrain use. Generally it can be stated that the application of any alternative technology means additional costs (investment) at the beginning for the user. The investment is just worth the money if lower operational costs can be achieved. Achieved savings were calculated with our model and a sensitivity analysis was also performed.

In recent years the use of alternative fuels based, among other things, on vegetable oil is causing increasing concern, which is also observed in our country. Such fuels have different physical and chemical properties (especially viscosity) with reference to the standard diesel fuel. Therefore it is important to know the effect of the additive of biocomponents on fuel injection process, in particular of its parameters, which play an important role in the combustion process and formation of pollutions in exhaust gases. In the paper is presented the test results of selected parameters of the injection process executing by four different electromagnetically controlled injectors using diesel fuel without the biocomponents and mixtures of such fuel with esters of rapeseed oil (FAME). Investigations were carried out on a specially prepared test stand which enables the measurement of fuel delivery and fuel returning from the injector together with its density and temperature. Additionally, beside mentioned parameters, there were recorded high-speed courses of pressure in the high-pressure pipe behind the rail and before the injector. Next, using a system of AVL Visioscope, the fuel injection into the visualization chamber filled with fuel was recorded. It determined the basic parameters of the fuel spray. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of fuel type on the injection process executed by the injectors with different constructional parameters.

The paper presents the results of the research on the influence of diesel fuel, rape oil methyl esters and rape oil on the evolution of the jet, velocity of the jet front and the atomization/spraying apex angle versus the crank angle of the engine. Measuring was performed using a single-cylinder Diesel engine with direct fuel injection and the apparatus AVL Engine VideoScope. It was found that physical and chemical parameters diversifying the tested fuels significantly influence the parameters of the sprayed fuel jet. It applied mainly to the increase of the fuel atomization apex angle for the fuels of high viscosity as compared with diesel fuel and to different course of the range and velocity of the jet front versus the engine crank angle. Large and heavy drops of vegetable oil have initially higher velocity than for diesel fuel. However, very soon, the velocity of rape oil jet front decreases to a lower value than for the petroleum fuel. From the visualisation process we can observed real start of injection and combustion processes. From these measure - delay of self combustion in diesel engine. Delay of self-combustion for natural rapeseed oil is shorter than for standard diesel fuel. As a result of this fact, we can observe in next research lower combustion dynamic, lower max. combustion temperature and lower concentration of NOx in exhaust gases. A change of the organization of the injection process of tested fuels can bring on differences in the combustion course.

The article describes the main determinants influencing success of investment in diamonds. The purpose of the article is to examine how the caratage, clarity, cut, color, shape and the certification institution influence the price of a diamond. For this purpose, five econometric models were built (for specific weights of diamonds and one for all of the collected data). For the realization of this research goal characteristics of more than 265,000 diamonds were used. The paper identifies the differences between the variants of studied traits and the price of diamonds. The analysis found that the heavier stone the greater differences in price because of the variants of studied traits. The average difference in the valuation of diamonds due to the single-difference in the color of the stone is over 11% for all examined observations. In the case of the clarity this average difference in price between neighboring steps of the clarity of the stone is almost 8%, and for the quality of cutting is less than 5%. In addition, it has been shown that the most expensive stones are certified by GIA certification firm, AGS and HRD, and for the ten analyzed shapes most expensive form is round. For the shape characteristics an inverse relationship was noted than for other characters used, ie. the lighter stone is, the greater difference in the price of round diamonds than for other shapes. Round shape is the most popular for the jewellery application, especially in engagement rings and because this round shape is more expensive than other shapes.

Due to the changes in the modern family, many children are brought up in non-traditional families. Cohabitation is one of the alternative forms of the family. The results of the studies on the welfare of children raised in cohabitation relationships are not conclusive, yet the data indicate poorer developmental achievements of these children in comparison with children brought up by married couples are predominant. The article presents the results of research which compares the welfare of children in different forms of relationships and points to three possible reasons for lower developmental achievements of children raised by cohabiting partners. These include: characteristics of the partners, characteristics of the cohabitation relationships and the way of selecting a group for a study which compares the welfare of children in different forms of families, connecting cohabiting partners who are the child’s biological parents with those persons forming cohabitation relationships in which only one of the partners is the child’s natural parent.

Opis:
Alternative livelihoods are often promoted by conservation organisations or governments to reduce rural people’s reliance on or use of natural resources, or to compensate them for loss of access. The effectiveness of such interventions has, however, been limited over the years. It is no news that the greatest challenges facing humankind are the alleviation of poverty and the conservation of biological diversity. Yet, rather than being perceived as separate issues, these two challenges are often closely linked. In order to find solutions to these challenges, both Non-Governmental and Governmental Organizations have put in place diverse alternative projects. Unfortunately, such endeavours have met with little or no successful outcome. This, therefore, leads to the question of whether an alternative livelihood program is really a substitute or an added portfolio to the existing activities of rural people. This paper critically examines alternative livelihood projects on the basis that these are either the former or the latter. Data was obtained through the use of various search engines and also from direct observation. The study discovered that, while different alternative livelihood projects have been employed with various objectives across Africa, most of the reviewed projects have had little or no success owing to management issues within the NGOs or GOs, and, most especially, due to the actual condition of local people. Thus, ‘alternative livelihoods’ tend to be an added portfolio of other activities rather than a substitute for current reality.

In the era of progressive economic and trade cooperation at a national and international level, the number of disputes related to them is increasing. Statistics overviewing the activity of Polish courts dealing with proceedings in commercial cases confirm the fact. The development of alternative disputes resolution instruments, in particular regarding arbitration and mediation, gives rise to hope for remedying the situation. At the moment their scope is of little significance related to the entirety of legal transactions. Moreover, there are areas virtually devoid of them. The Podlaskie region is one of such areas. Recently, collaboration of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Bialystok and the Faculty of Law of University of Bialystok resulted in the launch of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Podlaskie region. As a part of the project, mediation services were commenced and further steps to launch the Eastern Court of Arbitration were taken. It seems that the undertaking can bring satisfactory results for socio-economic trading. The assumption will be possible to be verified in practice in the nearest future.

Autor uważa, że poglądy tych myślicieli są bliskie poglądom twórców ekonomii społecznej. W części pierwszej autor dokonuje analizy podmiotów występujących w realnej i regulacyjnej strefie gospodarki. Sfera realna obejmuje: sferę produkcji, sferę wymiany i sferę konsumpcji. Sfera regulacyjna obejmuje państwo, podmioty pośrednictwa i podmioty demokracji przemysłowej albo gospodarczej.

For many decades to come, and in the foreseeable future, internal combustion engines – in many cases with electric motors – will be with us, just like the liquid fuels they require. The importance of crude oil will decline, as these fuels will be increasingly produced on a synthetic basis without CO2 emissions. The answers to the question "Future Mobility without internal Combustion Engines and Fuels?" are "no" in both cases. Purely battery-electric mobility will be applied in the future only in specific areas. fuel-cell vehicles will hardly be used because of the extreme infrastructure investment costs. In contrast, liquid fuels will ensure the future of mobility. in this scenario, energy such as solar or wind energy will be generated without CO2 emissions.

Introduction and aim. The cumulative incidence of drug-induced thrombocytopenia (DIT) is 10 cases per one million people per year with a prevalence of approximately 25% in critically ill patients. This review provides a comprehensive view of drug-induced thrombocytopenia, diagnosis, underlying mechanisms, common strategies in therapeutics, and potential alternatives. Material and methods. Databases such as “Google Scholar”, “PubMed”, “Medline” and “MDPI” was used for literature review with the keywords, “platelets”, “platelet disorders”, “thrombocytopenia”, “drug-induced”, “oxidative stress” “plant extracts”, “phytochemicals”, “antioxidants”, for the articles published between 2013-2023 and written in the English language. Analysis of the literature. Several antimicrobials, anti-cancer drugs, and antivirals are often reported to cause adverse effects during treatment, such as thrombocytopenia. A thorough understanding of the underlying pathophysiology is important for appropriate treatment. Even though an improvement in platelet count is observed after the discontinuation of the causative drug, there is a dire need for treatment in some cases due to associated complications. There are various pitfalls with conventional treatments which include clinical complications and lack of effectiveness. Conclusion. Interventions in therapeutics through antioxidants can aid in faster recovery. Various plant extracts and phytochemicals have been employed as therapeutics in platelet disorders due to their exceptional antioxidant activity. It is imperative to explore the bioactive components of natural products and their influence on platelet efficacy. Also, it highlights how antioxidants can be used as a safe, yet effective option as therapeutics for treating a complicated disorder such as DIT or be used as supplements to prevent adverse effects of existing treatments involving antibiotics and chemotherapeutics.

Uncoupling proteins, members of the mitochondrial carrier family, are present in mitochondrial inner membrane and mediate free fatty acid-activated, purine-nucleotide-inhibited H+ re-uptake. Since 1995, it has been shown that the uncoupling protein is present in many higher plants and some microorganisms like non-photosynthetic amoeboid protozoon, Acanthamoeba castellanii and non-fermentative yeast Candida parapsilosis. In mitochondria of these organisms, uncoupling protein activity is revealed not only by stimulation of state 4 respiration by free fatty acids accompanied by decrease in membrane potential (these effects being partially released by ATP and GTP) but mainly by lowering ADP/O ratio during state 3 respiration. Plant and microorganism uncoupling proteins are able to divert very efficiently energy from oxidative phosphorylation, competing for ΔμH+ with ATP synthase. Functional connection and physiological role of uncoupling protein and alternative oxidase, two main energy-dissipating systems in plant-type mitochondria, are discussed.

Developments in bioengineering natural products from insects with potential use in modern medicines as well as in utilisation of insects as models for studying essential mammalian processes such as immune responses to pathogens are discussed in this review. The significant recent advances in developing insect derived natural products as potential new medicinal drugs and the use of medicinal plants for the treatment of human diseases has long been practised since the beginning of human civilization. To date, insects have been relatively neglected as sources of modern drugs although they have provided valuable natural products, including honey and silk, for at least 4-7000 years. The use of insect derived products as an alternative medicinal source is an exciting and rapidly expanding new field since insects are hugely variable and have a high biodiversity index. Insects products, such as silk and honey, have already been utilised commercially for thousands of years and extracts of insects used to produce for use in folk medicine around the world, nowadays several other insect products such as venoms which insects use for prey capture and defences, are also used to produce new medicinal drugs which are capable of fighting against a number of diseases like arthritis, inflammation, several cancers, neurological diseases and AIDS too. In the present decade the increasing price of biochemical medicines for the treatment of certain deadly diseases like cancer, AIDS etc is creating a huge economical burden to the common people in the developing countries like India. The search for alternative cost effective and easily available medicines for combating the upcoming diseases is an utmost need in the present decade. The emergence of this kind of alternative medicinal sources like that from the adult insects as well as from their different life history stages or their secretions which are available in plenty in the nature will open up new vistas in the recent researches based on development of medicinal drugs for human diseases.

Honey is the focus of many research projects for its varied biological activities. It is an age-old remedy that is currently being rediscovered as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) to be used in modern medicine. The present study aims to investigate the use and perception of honey as CAM among the general public in Ibadan metropolis. A cross sectional study was conducted using three local government areas in Ibadan, a structured and tested questionnaire was then adopted with readjustment. A total of 405 questionnaires were randomly distributed within the study area. These indicate that 63.5% (257/405) of the respondents used honey as CAM, and age significantly affects the usage/ none usage of honey in the study area (p < 0.05). Many respondents claimed they use honey as a dietary supplement for general well-being (79%, 203/257), or for treating burns/wounds (76.3, 196/257), cough (72.8%, 187/257) and sore throat (60.3%, 155/257). A small percentage of the respondents used honey to treat ulcers (17.1%, 44/257). Our work also revealed that a limited number of the respondents (13%, 32/257) buy honey from pharmaceutical stores, while information regarding honey was majorly gotten from friends and family (70%, 180/257). In addition, respondents have favourable perception of the use of honey as CAM - as over 60% of them rated strongly agree and agree for each of the perception question. Respondents highlighted some risk factors affecting the use of honey as CAM, Among which inadequate information on the use of honey ranked highest (mean = 4.40), concerns were also raised on the quality (mean = 4.33) and high price of honey used (4.31). There are favourable perception of the use of honey as CAM, but issues relating to honey quality should be determined before use. Future work should be done to test the perception and acceptance level of honey as CAM among health workers.

Opis:
This paper presents a novel way of utilizing alcohols as fuels for a diesel engine. It is proposed to use heavy alcohols as a mix with vegetable oils and conventional diesel fuel. It is presented the another way to use alcohols. Namely, the use of heavy alcohols as a solvent for vegetable oil (named the biomix or BM) and after the obtainment of the thickness, which would be approximate to diesel fuel, mixing the biomix with diesel fuel to obtained biomix diesel (BMD). This solution will be shown for example with butanol as heavy alcohol, rape oil as vegetable oil and conventional diesel fuel. The investigations are carried out with a simple diesel engine on the engine test bed. Main parameters of engine (power output, torque, specifically fuel consumption) and the main exhaust gas component (in this case CO, NOx, PM) will be investigated. There were better results achieved than one expected. Opposed to existing experiences, the maximum of power output and the torque of engine are higher in the whole range of the rotatory speed of the engine crankshaft when the engine biomix diesel (BMD) is reinforced. The addition of the component biomix to fuel influences the specific fuel consumption. Generally with the larger part of the component biomix the specific fuel consumption grows. Because the power of engine also grows up one should expect that in exploitation the specific fuel consumption should not increase. Transestrification process in the proposed solution does not appear. This has large economic meaning. The investment amount (the transestrification plant) is not necessary. The power consumption to get fuel is lower. Vegetable oils are fully used (glycerine is not produced). BMD has stable parameters. The usage of existing infrastructure to this transportation is enough. Very important is that this fuel could be used to reinforce old, existing now and the future diesel engines. The production of butanol is known. It will be interesting to use for the production an electrolysis process, especially in the proposed new plant where the electrolysis process is connected with the process to get the electrical energy from byproducts of electrolysis (i.e. hydrogen and oxygen) in the fuel cell. It seems to be more efficient. The possibility to get butanol from ethanol gives a very good perspective for the use of ethanol from today's overproduction and moreover without the essential change of infrastructure.

Opis:
The World is strongly dependent on crude oil for its transport needs. In order to diminish this dependence, we need to introduce clean, CO2-efficient, secure and affordable transportation fuels. The development of innovative biofuel technologies will help to cover significantly (up to 25% in Europe) road transport fuel needs. Biofuels production of 33 billion litres in 2004 is small compared to 1200 billion litres of gasoline produced annually worldwide. The current production of liquid biofuels in the EU 25 is about 2 Mtoe, which is less than 1% of the market. Recent assessments have concluded that the 2010 targets, 18 Mtoe used in the transport sector, are unlikely to be achieved. There can be three basic possibilities of accomplishing this target: i) use of alcohols (first of all ethanol) and their mixing with petrol; ii) use of fatty acids esters (methyl or ethyl) of vegetable oils and their mixing with diesel fuel, iii) use of synthetic hydrocarbons of the synthetic gas coming from biomass resources and eventually their mixing with other ,,classical" hydrocarbons. This paper presents a novel way of utilizing alcohols as fuels for a diesel engine. It is proposed to use heavy alcohols as a mix with conventional diesel fuel. The possibility to use a mix of butanol (as heavy alcohol) with conventional diesel fuel is demonstrated. Butanol has some key advantages over ethanol and light hydrocarbons (petrol), including higher energy content and better transport characteristics. Moreover, butanol is hydrophobic, so a new logistic infrastructure is not necessary. This paper demonstrates that a diesel-butanol fuel mixture is supplied to a diesel engine without any problems. A consumption of proposed biofuel mixture from +35% to -35% of typical diesel fuel depends on many factors not only on fuel energy density. A near-term effort of BP Biofuels and DuPont to develop and commercialize biobutanol is well-known. Here, it is proposed a new technological process combining electricity generation in fuel cells with electrolysis and a production of butanol from ethanol, which gives an opportunity to reduce today,'s over production of ethanol without a necessary change of existing infrastructure.

Opis:
The article presents results of tests performed in a combustion research unit (CRU) with the two following fuels: light fuel oil (LFO) and glycerol. The CRU is a constant volume combustion chamber machine equipped with an injection system based on that used in common-rail diesel engines with electromagnetic injectors. This machine allows to compare various combustion properties between fuels for specified parameters of injection and a combustion chamber as well. As it is known glycerol is a substance which is obtained from several technological processes such as production of biofuel thus in this way it can be treated as an alternative renewable fuel. The glycerol is characterized by low heating value of 16MJ/kg and relatively high density of 1261 kg/m3. However, its heating value by volume is higher if compared to other liquid fuels. From that reason decrease in energy that can be delivered with fuel is smaller which is approximately 16% lest than for LFO. The parameters measured during this research were: pressure increase, rate of pressure increase (ROPR), ignition delay (ID), main reaction delay (MRD), main combustion period (MCP), end of main combustion (EMC), end of combustion (EC), position of max ROPR (PMR) and max ROPR. The tests were performed with different injection parameters such as injection pressure, injection duration and injection delay as well as under various conditions in the CRU combustion chamber expressed by pressure and temperature. On the basis of these tests the comparison between LFO and glycerol was done. The results were presented in diagrams. The research shows that glycerol used as a fuel, to obtain the same output power, should be injected at higher amounts. Glycerol as a fuel cannot ignite itself, hence to provide combustion the pilot injection of another fuel have to be applied.

This paper presents differences between fossil fuel (Jet A-1) and alcohol/Jet A-1 blend, during combustion process using laboratory test rig with miniature turbojet engine (MiniJETRig). The test rig has been created in Air Force Institute of Technology for research and development works aimed at alternative fuels for aviation. Fuel from different feedstock (non-fossil sources) is introduced into market due to ecological aspects, fuel price stability and energy security. Application of alcohol to propel aircraft has started form using a blend of aviation gasoline with ethanol in spark-ignited internal-combustion engines. Taking into account that large part of aviation fuels used by commercial aircraft is jet fuels, so in this area it has begun to look for possibilities to apply alcohol component. In 2016, international standard (ASTM) approved a synthetic blending component for aviation turbine fuels for use in civil aircraft and engines – alcohol-to-jet synthetic paraffinic kerosene (ATJ-SPK). According to standard, ATJ-SPK synthetic blending components shall be comprised hydro processed synthetic paraffinic kerosene wholly derived from isobutanol processed through dehydration, oligomerization, hydrogenation and fractionation. Two different fuel samples, a traditional fossil jet fuel (Jet A-1) and a blend of 10% butanol with Jet A-1 were tested. Laboratory tests of selected physicochemical properties and bench tests with the same profile of engine test were carry out for both fuel samples. The obtained results: engine parameters and exhaust gas emissions are compared and discussed.

This paper is an attempt to explore the politics and the poetics of vernacular music in modern Bengal. Drawn from extensive and in-depth research into the current “scene” (as popularly referred to in the musician and music lover circles), this paper delves into the living histories of musical and linguistic revolutions in a part of India where the vernacular literature has been historically rich, and vastly influenced by the post-colonial heritage. The popular music that grew from these political and cultural foundations reflected its own pathos, and consecutively inspired its own form of oral tradition. The linguistic and musical inspirations for Bangla Rock and the eventual establishment of this genre in a rigidly curated culture is not only a remarkable anthropological case study, but also crucial in creating discourse on the impact of this music in the creation of oral histories. This paper will discuss both the musical and the lyrical journey of Bengali counterculture in music, thus in turn exploring the scope of Bangla – as in the colloquial for Bengali, and Rock – the Western musical expression which began during the 50’s and the 60’s (also populist and political in its roots). The inception of this particular political populist narrative driven through songs and music, is rooted in the Civil Rights movement, and comparisons can be drawn in the ‘soul’ of the movements, though removed both geographically and by time. Thus this paper engages with the poetics of Bangla Rock, to understand the marginal political voices surfacing through alternative means of expression.
