    This article contains edited version of the record that is preserved in the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw (fond: Economic Archives of Wilanów, part X, General Administration of Goods and Interest Aleksandra nee Lubomirska Potocka, Ref. 1, pp. 182–211). Release of this record is due to the fact that this is one of the few and most likely the oldest instruction concerning the functioning and organization of the central administration in the magnate estate. It describes the structure and powers of individual officials, and also presents issues related to finance in the estate. In addition, it describes in great detail the circulation of papers in the Central Administration, as well as, papers produced by this Administration and organizational units subordinated to it.

    Tekst opisuje funkcjonowanie kancelarii Administracji Generalnej Dóbr i Interesów Stanisława i Aleksandry Potockich oraz dokumentację wytwarzaną przez tę komórkę administracyjną. Charakteryzuje on również 5 urzędników wchodzący w jej skład (przewodniczący, plenipotent, sekretarz generalny, nadrachmistrz i adiunkt), a w szczególności ich kompetencje oraz dokumentację, która powstawała w wyniku wykonywania przydzielonych im obowiązków. Rozważania oparte zostały na dokumencie zatytułowanym „Organizacya Administracyi Generalney Dóbr i Interesów JWW Stanisława i Aleksandry Hrabiów Potockich” z 1 VII 1819 r. Znajduje się on w zespole Archiwum Gospodarcze Wilanowskie, przechowywanym w Archiwum Głównym Akt Dawnych w Warszawie. Rozważania dotyczące nadrzędnego tematu poprzedzone zostały przedstawieniem krótkiej historii dóbr wilanowskich oraz funkcjonowania ich administracji gospodarczej w XIX w.
    Text describes the functioning of the chancellery of the General Office of the Estates and Businesses of Counts Stanisław and Aleksandra Potocki and documentation produced by this office. Author presents also five officials working at this office: president, plenipotentiary, General Secretary, reckoner and assistant clerk, and in particular their competence and documentation, which was a result of the duties assigned. The considerations are based on a document entitled "Organization of general office for estates and businesses of Counts Stanislaw and Aleksandra Potocki" of 1st July 1819, which is part of the fond Administrative and Economic Archive of Wilanów, deposited at the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw. Considerations regarding the parent topic was preceded by a brief presentation of the history of the Wilanów estates and operation of its economic administration in the 19th century.

    The Potocki family contributed greatly to Wilanów gardens in two fundamental aspects: they developed the landscape arrangement of the palace and park, and they created alarge collection of glasshouse and orangery plants. Exotic plants were grown in the garden grounds in an orangery, a conservatory for fig trees, two hothouses, a glasshouse and two conservatories for pineapples. Until now, the species composition of the plant collection was known only from fragmentary information in the press covering garden exhibitions, in which Countess Aleksandra Potocka was actively involved. The missing information was found in two previously unknown inventories of 1856 and 1857 kept in the collection of the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw (AGAD). They contain lists of glasshouse and orangery plants prepared by the inspectors of the Wilanów gardens. The aim of the present research was to identify the reasons and conditions for the preparation of these inventories, and to characterize the plant species mentioned therein. Manuscripts were rewritten and decoded, and then analysed for historical aspects and detailed botanical information. The precise historical context of both documents was established after the comparison of historical plant names with the modern nomenclature, and a total of 763 plant species and varieties were identified. Most of these plants are native to tropical and subtropical regions of North America, South America or Asia. The extraordinary diversity and richness of the Wilanów collection of exotic plants indicates that the owners of the estate at that time, Count August Potocki and his wife Aleksandra, had a huge interest in botany and provided versatile forms of patronage to gardens.

    One part of the collection of the Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów is a set of interior decorations removed during restoration works in 1955-1962. It consists of eight panels from Locci's 2nd Room, concealed door from the Anteroom and a panel from the ceiling of the King's Sons' Room. Using the documentation from the restoration process and archival photographs, it proved possible to reconstruct the exact look of the decorations. The original idea to arrange the Chinese Apartment on the first lfoor of the Wilanów Palace is traditionally attributed to Stanisław Kostka Potocki, and the oldest inventory describing it was compiled in 1832. Intended as exposition space, the interiors were decorated in concordance with the collection displayed in each room, including, among others, paintings, woodblock prints, ceramics and lacquered objects. Currently a new permanent exhibition is being prepared in the corridor by the Chinese and Hunting Rooms in the southern wing of the palace. It will tell the history of the Apartment and the historical collection of Oriental art.
