Currently, the branch of air transport is one of the most dynamically developing branches of transport. Modern air transport systems provide relatively high quality of services in terms of satisfaction, preferences, and tastes of potential recipients, passengers, and freight operators. Air transport systems use highly advanced technologies, equipment, infrastructure, and appropriate rules and procedures in order to ensure the desired quality of services. The article presents an analysis of the volume of passenger and cargo transport in air transport on the example of the Warszawa Okęcie International Airport (Poland). The analysis covered the years from 2011 to 2021. In addition, the market of air services, and air connections with Warszawa Okęcie International Airport were characterized.

Aiming to create more sustainable cities it is necessary to understand and manage different ecological factors which influence human health. One of such factors is black carbon (BC) in atmosphere, which currently is not commonly monitored by environmental monitoring systems. The aim of this research was to estimate by indirect approach the relation between eBC (equivalent of black carbon) concentration and other air pollutants in order to define approximate level of eBC in more efficient approach. The study was conducted in Wrocław (Poland) in October 2021, and combined data on eBC concentration (measured by microaethalometer), air quality (from national environmental monitoring system) and traffic (from municipal traffic management system). Quantile regression was used to assess the relationship between the concentrations of pollutants. The obtained results show that for rise 1 mg∙m-3 of carbon monoxide, eBC concentration rise between 4.2 and 8.0 μg∙m-3, depending on the period of a day. Precision of eBC concentration evaluation is influenced by sun light which results in higher precision of defining a scaling factor for night hours. Outcomes of this study constitute an added value to understanding of interconnections between different factors describing environmental conditions in cities and might be helpful for more effective environmental assessment of human habitats.

New air traffic control ideas are sought. Many studies point out the delegation of the responsibility for ensuring separation from air traffic controllers to the aircraft crews, but it should be assumed that the transition from centralized to decentralized air traffic control will occur in stages. It is, therefore, necessary to ensure effective communication between conflicting aircraft and to define the negotiation process between aircraft. The concept of the process of negotiation and communication between aircraft in conflict using a monotonic concession protocol is presented. The proposed solution was modeled using a Petri Net, which allowed us to analyze all the dependencies present in the system. The analysis allowed us to evaluate the method in the context of safety. The conducted research showed that, under the assumed conditions, the negotiation method allows obtaining the desired effect of negotiations while maintaining an adequate level of safety.

Opis:
Road dust should be considered as a secondary source of contamination in the environment, especially when re-suspended. In our study road dust samples were collected from 8 high-capacity urban roads in two districts of Kraków (Krowodrza and Nowa Huta). Total concentration of toxic elements, such as Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Zn, Co, Pb, Ni, Ba and Se were determined using ICP–MS ELAN 6100 Perkin Elmer. A fractionation study were performed using VI step sequential extraction, according to the modified method provided by Salomons and Fӧrstner. Appropriate quality control was ensured by using reagent blanks and analysing certified reference material BCR 723 and SRM 1848a. Concentration of metals in the road dust varied as follows [mg/kg]: Cd 1.02–1.78, Cr 34.4–90.3, Cu 65–224, Mn 232–760, Zn 261–365, Co 4.32–6.46, Pb 85.6–132, Ni 32.2–43.9, Ba 98.9–104 and Se 78.3–132. Degree of contamination of road dust from Nowa Huta was very high (Cdeg 54) and considerable for road dust from Krowodrza (Cdeg 25). Results revealed that road dust samples were heavily contaminated with Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Co, Pb, Ni, Ba and Se, in amounts exceeding multiple times geochemical background values. The chemical speciation study using VI step sequential extraction, followed by assessing risk assessment code (RAC) revealed that elements in road dust are mostly bound with mobile and easy bioavailable fractions such as carbonates and exchangeable cations, with the exception for Cr and Cu being mostly associated and fixed with residual and organic matter fraction.
Zanieczyszczenia pochodzące z transportu drogowego uważane są za główny czynnik ryzyka środowiskowego odpowiedzialny za przedwczesne zgony na całym świecie. Rosnący udział emisji zanieczyszczeń związanych z komunikacją potwierdza konieczność oceny jakość środowiska drogowego poprzez określenia stopnia zanieczyszczenia pyłu drogowego oraz ocenę zagrożenia związanego z potencjalnym uwalnianiem się pierwiastków toksycznych z pyłów drogowych do środowiska wodno-glebowego. Do badań pobrany został pył drogowy z 8 odcinków dróg miejskich o dużej kongestii w dwóch dzielnicach Krakowa (Krowodrza i Nowa Huta). Stężenie metali ciężkich, takich jak Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Zn, Co, Pb, Ni, Ba i Se oznaczano metodą ICP–MS (ELAN 6100 Perkin Elmer). Frakcjonowanie przeprowadzono z zastosowaniem VI stopniowej ekstrakcji sekwencyjnej. Badania wykazały silnie zanieczyszczony Cd, Cu, Zn, Mn, Co, Pb, Ni, Ba i Se w ilościach przekraczających wielokrotnie wartości poziomów tła geochemicznego. Stężenia metali w pyle drogowym kształtowały się następująco [mg/kg]: Cd 1,02–1,78, Cr 34,4–90,3, Cu 65-224, Mn 232–760, Zn 261–365, Co 4,32–6,46, Pb 85,6–132, Ni 32,2–43,9, Ba 98,9–104 i Se 78,3–132. Stwierdzono bardzo wysoki stopień zanieczyszczenia pyłu drogowego pobranego w Nowej Hucie (Cdeg 54) i wysoki w Krowodrzy (Cdeg 25). Badania form związani metali z zastosowaniem VI stopniowej ekstrakcji sekwencyjnej, a następnie ocena kodu oceny ryzyka (RAC) wykazały, że metale w pyle drogowym są w znacznym stopniu mobile i potencjalnie łatwo mogące się uwalniać do środowiska (metalami występującymi na pozycjach jonowymiennych i/lub węglany), z wyjątkiem Cr i Cu, które w większości związane są z siarczkami, materią organiczną, ewentualnie pozostają wbudowane w sieć krystaliczna minerałów

Aim of publication is to introduce reader with general need and current situation of development of air traffic management systems and evaluation of actual operating network of aviation electronic support systems. The theme of the contribution is actual because there is currently an increase in the volume of the air traffic, which places increased demands on the safety level of air transport. Attempting to find new answers related to insufficient navigation systems has led aviation authorities to develop progressive systems based on cooperation with satellite navigation systems. Solution for capacity limited airports is development of system GBAS – Ground Based Augmentation System. The main purpose of publication is to present drafts of possible rationalization of navigation infrastructure of M.R. Stefanik airport. The effort to use the maximum potential of airspace consisted in the search for new concepts and trends in air traffic management based on the development of the technical pillar and new ways of managing the entire ATM system.

Due to the rarity of female pilots, aviation communication is typically conducted in a single-gender environment. The role of gender in interactions during inflight emergencies has not yet been adequately explored. This single case analysis uses a qualitative approach based on conversation analytic transcripts to investigate how gender may be relevant either explicitly or implicitly in radio transmissions between flight crew and Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel, as well as internal ATC phone interactions as participants work to handle an inflight emergency. This incident involved a female pilot and a male copilot, thus providing a naturally occurring rare event to explore the potential relevance of gender. The analysis shows that explicit references to gender are limited to occasional asymmetrical use of gendered address terms and gendered pronouns. Participants also used interactional formulations that—while not explicitly gendered—have been associated in previous research with gender differences in interaction, for example, the use of indirect forms of requests or complaints, actions that imply inferences about the emotional state of participants, or possible confusion over the identity of the pilot given the transitions between male and female sounding voices speaking on behalf of the plane. The findings are discussed in terms of implications for how gender differences can impact aviation communication during emergency incidents.

Opis:
Quick development of computer techniques and increasing computational power allow for building high-fidelity models of various complex objects and processes using historical data. One of the processes of this kind is an air traffic, and there is a growing need for traffic mathematical models as air traffic is increasing and becoming more complex to manage. This study concerned the modelling of a part of the arrival process. The first part of the research was air separation modelling by using continuous probability distributions. Fisher information matrix was used for the best fit selection. The second part of the research consisted of applying regression models that best match the parameters of representative distributions. Over a dozen airports were analyzed in the study and that allowed to build a generalized model for aircraft air separation in function of traffic intensity. Results showed that building a generalized model which comprises traffic from various airports is possible. Moreover, aircraft air separation can be expressed by easy to use mathematical functions. Models of this kind can be used for various applications, e.g.: air separation management between aircraft, airports arrival capacity management, and higher-level air traffic simulation or optimization tasks.

This study focuses on the influence of motor transport on various indicators of park ecosystems and Taraxacum officinale Web., as well as on their applicability to the bioindication of the urban environments in the largest megalopolis of Ukraine, namely, Kyiv. Our investigations were carried out in 14 park ecosystems exposed to different levels of aerotechnogenic loading: low pollution level in Pushcha-Vodytsya (park) and outskirts, average pollution level alongseven roads with medium traffic and high pollution level along eight highways. Pollen indication, integration and statistical methods were used to identify the most sensitive indicators of the impact of air pollutants. The aim is to assess the impact of vehicle emissions on the state of park ecosystems in the metropolis using bioindication and GIS technologies. The effects of air pollution on green infrastructure at the level of cells, organisms, groups and ecosystems in time and space are revealed. Under the influence of aerotechnogenic pollution, there is a deterioration of trees, their drying, defoliation of crowns and deterioration of integral indicators of park ecosystems. Using QGIS (Free open source geographic information system, version 3.12.3 „București”, May 15, 2020), we have created maps for the spread of air pollutants. The highest levels of air pollution and damage to parks were concentrated in the central part of the city with dense buildings and near heavy traffic roads. The average daily maximum allowable concentration (MAC) of phytotoxicants exceeded 1.5 MACa.d. and depended on the terrain and directions of the prevailing winds. We registered degradation of the megalopolis ecological state by 19.3% for 7 years.

The current concept of air traffic control based on human work was created many years ago and is now approaching the limit of its performance. Therefore, new concepts for air traffic control are being sought. One of the ideas is to delegate the responsibility for ensuring separation between aircraft to aircraft crews. The issue of self-separation is quite a difficult task. Analysis of the literature concludes that the transition from one phase to another will occur in stages. This paper focuses on the transition period. The concept of a method of ensuring separation when changing traffic organization was proposed. A vital element of the separation method in the transition period is to define the negotiation and communication process between aircraft, which was presented in this paper.

The Covid-19 pandemic unexpectedly shook the entire global economy, causing it to destabilize over a long period of time. One of the sectors that was particularly hit hard was air traffic, and the changes that have taken place in it have been unmatched by any other crisis in history. The purpose of this article was to identify the time series describing the number of airline flights in Poland in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The article first presents selected statistics and indicators showing the situation of the global and domestic aviation market during the pandemic. Then, based on the data on the number of flights in Poland, the identification of the time series describing the number of flights by airlines was made. The discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) was used to determine the trend, while for periodicity verification, first statistical tests (Kruskal-Wallis test and Friedman test) and then spectral analysis were used. The confirmation of the existence of weekly seasonality allowed for the identification of the studied series as the sum of the previously determined trend and the seasonal component, as the mean value from the observations on a given day of the week. The proposed model was compared with the 7-order moving average model, as one of the most popular in the literature. As the obtained results showed, the model developed by the authors was better at identifying the studied series than the moving average. The errors were significantly lower, which made the presented solution more effective. This confirmed the validity of using wavelet analysis in the case of irregular behaviour of time series, and also showed that both spectral analysis and statistical tests (Kruskal-Walis and Fridman) proved successful in identifying the seasonal factor in the time series. The method used allowed for a satisfactory identification of the model for empirical data, however, it should be emphasized that the aviation services market is influenced by many variables and the forecasts and scenarios created should be updated and modified on an ongoing basis.

The quality of air that people breathe has become a very important parameter of quality of life. Pollution contributes to numerous diseases, problems with the absorption of knowledge, and also reduces work efficiency. The article attempts to find the relationship between road traffic and indoor air quality. The parameter used to assess air pollution was particulate matter (smog). The research was carried out in three localisations with different traffic volumes, in three places for each localisation, in the summer, autumn, and winter periods. It was found that in areas with heavy road traffic, this traffic causes an inflow of pollutants into the rooms. In low-traffic localisations, sources other than road traffic have a greater impact on the indoor air quality, especially in the cool periods (autumn, and winter)
Jakość powietrza, jakim oddycha człowiek, stała się bardzo istotnym parametrem jakości życia. Zanieczyszczenia przyczyniają się do licznych zachorowań, problemów z przyswajaniem wiedzy, a także obniżają wydajność pracy. W artykule podjęto próbę odnalezienia zależności pomiędzy natężeniem ruchu drogowego i jakością powietrza wewnętrznego. Parametrem, który wykorzystano do oceny zanieczyszczenia powietrza, był pył zawieszony (smog). Badania przeprowadzono w trzech lokalizacjach o różnym natężeniu ruchu, w trzech miejscach dla każdej lokalizacji, w okresach lato, jesień i zima. Stwierdzono, że w lokalizacji o dużym natężeniu ruchu pojazdów ruch ten powoduje napływ zanieczyszczeń do pomieszczeń. W lokalizacjach o małym natężeniu ruchu większy wpływ na jakość powietrza wewnętrznego mają inne niż ruch drogowy źródła, szczególnie w okresach chłodnych (jesień, zima).

The Królowa Luiza Mining Museum is one of the touristic objects of the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze. In the study in concern, an assessment of ventilation of the facility was conducted. Following the assessment of the ventilation, the operating parameters of the fans were changed, inlets were sealed and a system of air ducts was designed and constructed. The ducts reintroduce the heated air from the facility to workings. The conducted activities aimed to decrease the amount of air has increased the temperature in the entire object by from 3 to 10°C, which translated into a profit of approximately 200 Euro a day. Before changing the heating system it was impossible to achieve a positive temperature in the entire object at an external temperature of -10°C. It was necessary to close the Museum for tourists. Trials conducted for the external temperature from -2 to -6°C have exhibited that it will be possible to achieve positive temperatures in the entire facility even in case of very low external temperatures. The costs borne for the change of the heating system may be estimated at a level of 25000 Euro. The return of the investment should occur in the first Winter period.

Globally, air transport has seen a greater increase in recent years. This manuscript is divided into three parts for analysing the negative effects of aviation. The first part is focused on the identification of sources of aircraft noise. While the second part of this article describes the basic principles of the construction and operation of an aircraft jet engine concerning the gaseous emissions produced by such an engine (Third part missing?). The main benefit of this article is the evaluation of the reliability of the human factor because the human factor is an integral part of technical systems and processes. Reliability assessment was performed using the TESEO method. The ergonomic parameter, that is, the cabin noise, was quantified in the given method. The measurement was performed on two types of aircraft, namely in the cabin of a transport jet aircraft and in the cabin of asmall transport aircraft equipped with turboprop engines.

The authors assessed the real threat to civil aircraft traffic in Poland resulting from bird strikes. It was found that in the period 2013–2018, the probability of such events increased by four times. Data for this work were downloaded from the ECCAIRS database maintained by the Civil Aviation Authority. Air traffic events have been collected for several years in this database. An assessment of the energy of bird collision with the aircraft, resulting from the bird’s mass and relative speed of movement, was also presented. Ways to minimise the risk of collision were described by introducing crew warning systems and means to scare off birds from the airport grounds. The method of testing the resistance of turbine engines to the foreign body’s absorption was also shown, as well as design methods for increasing the engine resistance to bird strikes.

Artykuł poświęcony jest wpływowi pandemii koronawirusa na pojmowanie bezpieczeństwa w komunikacji lotniczej. Dokonuje przeglądu skutków nowej sytuacji zdrowotnej na świecie z perspektywy lotnictwa cywilnego. Prezentuje różne formy aktywności omawianych instytucji o charakterze globalnym, regionalnym oraz lokalnym ukierunkowane na zarządzanie niespotykaną dotąd sytuacją kryzową w lotnictwie. W szczególności porusza kwestię nowego spojrzenia na ryzyka w sferze operacyjnej. Wskazuje ponadto na specyficzne czynności o charakterze prewencyjnym oraz kontrolnym, podejmowane przez porty lotnicze oraz linie lotnicze, mające na celu stworzenie skutecznej bariery dla rozprzestrzeniania się wirusa oraz przekonanie podróżnych o możliwości bezpiecznego korzystania z usług lotniczych.
The article examines impact of the coronavirus pandemic on understanding of safety in air transportation. It reviews effects of the new global health situation from the perspective of civil aviation. It presents various forms of institutions’ activity of global, regional and local focus, aimed at managing an unprecedented crisis situation in aviation. In particular, it addresses the issue of a new approach to risk in the operational sphere. It also points to specific, unprecedented preventive and control measures taken by airports and airlines to create an effective barrier against the spread of the virus and to convince travellers that they are securely able to make use of air services.
