Opis:
In the mid 1990s the Swedish parliament, Riksdag, amended the “Higher Education Act”, ordering higher education institutions to cooperate with their social environment, and specifying it as a third obligation, after scientific research and teaching students. And performing that duty became one of the criteria of assessment and financing institutions of higher education. Universities can carry out their responsibilities in various ways – also by taking up formal cooperation with institutions of culture and education, which in the last decade contributed to a significant increase of initiatives taken up jointly by Swedish universities and adult education organizations, as universities and other schools noticed that in that way they could meet the requirements of tredje uppgift. In his article, the author makes an attempt at showing that the tradition of such cooperation in the Kingdom of Sweden is much longer than just 10 years, and illustrates his thesis by recalling a number of examples of relationships between universities and institutions of culture and education in 19th and 20th centuries. The contemporary, often very interesting and unique attempts of combining folkbildning (non-formal adult education) and academic education, in the environment of Swedish folk high schools in particular, are presented on that historical background. The author concludes that the not so long ago clear demarcation line between academic and adult education gradually becomes finer and finer in Sweden.

Opis:
Political and social recognition of lifelong learning idea caused that andragogy at the end of the 20th century became closer to the center of social science. This profitable place can be justified and consolidated only when andragogy will be a discipline that is conscious of its provenience and identity built on solid theoretical basis. Does German andragogy fulfill those criteria? In search of the answer to this question the authoress conducted historical research, that were done twofold: chronological reconstruction and problem organization of content on the basis of concept of external, mediate and internal conditions of the discipline's development. Conducted analysis shows the changing role of the mentioned factors in time and its influence on scientific condition of andragogy in Germany, and in effect shows its specific character as discipline, especially vulnerable to utilitarian influence of practice and policy. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of strategy of science? - this is another important question of the article. Generalizations presented in the authoress' book 'Andragogika w Niemczech. Warunki rozwoju dyscypliny pedagogicznej' (Wyd. UMK, Torun 2008) help to answer those questions and provide material for comparative research, that can be used in order to evaluate other, local andragogies, e.g. Polish andragogy.

In his article the author presented the main directions of Polish-Swedish contacts in terms of adult education since the end of World War II to the decline of People's Republic of Poland in 1989. The entire publication was prepared basing on research in the archives and libraries on both sides of the Baltic. Special attention was paid to two issues: (1) development of educational offer for Polish people living in Sweden - inter alia, an educational complex in transition camp in Öreryd and educational concepts for solidarity emigration of the 1980s and (2) cooperation of the communities of Swedish and People's Republic of Poland's adult education - in particular the activities of Polish Committee in the 1960s, the involvement of Polish Club in the 1970s, the cooperation of the Council of Folk High Schools functioning within the Union of Socialist Polish Youth (ZSMP) with Swedish Union of Folk High School Teachers (SFHL) as well as common projects of 'Solidarity' Trade Union (NSZZ Solidarnosc) and the Swedish Workers' Education Association (ABF) of the 1980s. The paper also draws the readers' attention to certain exceptional character of the cooperation of Swedish adult education communities with Polish entities as compared with their relations with other countries. The author passed many judgements and drew a number of conclusions in summing up both the joint activities undertaken by institutions of culture and education for the adults of the Kingdom of Sweden and People's Republic of Poland as well as their short- and long-term effects.

The preponderance of religion-related violence especially in recent times seems to suggest some form of religious 'illiteracy'. This paper argues that there is a sense in which religious literacy advances religious tolerance. It further argues for a renewed role of adult education in advancing religious literacy and, by implication, combating religious intolerance. The paper uses examples from recent events and from some religions, including traditional African religion to buttress its argument.

W konsekwencji powinno to prowadzić do pokojowego współistnienia różnorodności kultur europejskich, uwzględniających zasady humanizmu, demokracji, solidarności i wzajemnej tolerancji. Powinien to być najwaSniejszy cel edukacyjny, ku któremu winna zmierzać EDUKACJA EUROPEJSKA.
The authors of this article aimed at emphasising the most significant issues related to the broad concept of multicultural education. The inspiration came from the fact that the current federation of European countries – the European Union – has made multilateral progress over the last ten years. The ensuing implications concern the diversity of cultures within the societies of the Member States. The article outlines the role that needs to be fulfilled by teachers of adults called andragogue teachers. As such they assume responsibility for unequivocal and uniform understanding of the coexistence of all people within the European Union despite social, cultural, economic, and political differences. The role of andragogue teachers is becoming the cornerstone of European education. Their professionalism resulting from desirable competence and appropriate personality determines the consolidation of multicultural awareness among societies. Consequently, it leads to peaceful coexistence of diverse European cultures taking account of the rules of humanism, democracy, solidarity, and mutual tolerance. Hence andragogics should constitute the ultimate educational objective for EUROPEAN EDUCATION. In the opinion of the authors, the article may encourage further investigation and development of andragology concept.

The definition of optimal shape and scope of blended learning trainings was one of the main aims of the presented article. The authoress was trying to find out 'what is the most optimal and efficient didactical process of the blended learning training concerned as a systemic element of reality'. As a result of holistic research, it was possible to distinguish some fundamental components of e-learning process (both in its fully online as well as in blended form) that guarantee its optimization i.e. identification how to ensure its efficiency and sustainability. There is also a presentation of the author's didactic model of blended learning trainings realization (including connection, correlations and sequence of online and traditional parts of training). This model was prepared as a result of research regarding the system theory approach to blended learning trainings.
