Opis:: The article reviews various definitions of adjectival category in Norwegian, and shows that although they define it in different ways, the core of the definitions is always the same. However, there are some classes of adjectives, which are treated diversely by the Norwegian linguists because of the unlike set of criteria they use in their classifications.In my Ph.D. project, I analyze acquisition of Norwegian adjective agreement by Polish L1 speakers of L2 Norwegian. The aim of the present paper is to propose my own definition of adjective, which is based on prototypical and peripheral meanings. The definition shows a Norwegian prototype adjective (that is not unlike the adjectives presented by the Norwegian grammarians) and discusses the more peripheral cases. The definition focuses on the Norwegian adjectives, but also the Polish are mentioned.

Opis:: Im folgenden Beitrag wird auf eine bestimmte Sorte adjektivischer Attribute aufmerksam gemacht. Się treten im Strukturschema „Adjektiv + Numerale + Substantiv (Maßangabe/Zählgröße)“ auf. Mit ihnen gibt der Sprecher dem Hörer vor, wie er den angesprochenen Sachverhalt auf einer Skala von „niedrig“ bis „hoch“, „wenig“ bis „viel“ oder dergleichen eingeschätzt, taxiert sehen möchte. Neben solchen skalaren Attributen weisen andere Belege übliche beschreibende Attribute auf. Die Belegsammlung, alphabetisch geordnet nach den vorkommenden Adjektiven, findet sich im Anhang.
The following paper deals with a special kind of adjectival attributes, so‑called attributes of taxation. They appear in the structure “adjective + numeral + noun (of measure)”. Their purpose is to direct the hearer’s taxation of the measurement implied along the scale of “low” to “high”, of “few” to “many” etc. Apart from these scalar attributes, our corpus (in the appendix) exhibits “normal” descriptive ones.

Opis:: Aus der pragmatischen Perspektive stehen bei einer zielorientierten Kommunikation neben dem sprachlichen und situativen Kontext die Intention des Sprechers und seine Handlungsstrategie im Mittelpunkt. Am Beispiel dreier Textausschnitte, die drei unterschiedliche Textsorten repräsentieren, setzt sich der Beitrag zum Ziel zu zeigen, welche Rolle Adjektive in unterschiedlichen Kommunikationssituationen spielen, zu welchen kommunikativen Zwecken sie verwendet werden und welche Funktionen sie in unterschiedlichen Kontexten erfüllen. Es wird gezeigt, welche sprachlichen und grammatischen Spezifika zur Erfüllung eines bestimmten Kommunikationsziels im Zusammenhang mit der Intention des Textproduzenten und der Textfunktion führen. Dabei werden Adjektive der deutschen Gegenwartssprache aus einer handlungs- und funktionsorientierten Perspektive untersucht.
From a pragmatic perspective, goaloriented communication focuses not only on the linguistic and situational context, but also on the speaker‘s intention and strategy. Using the example of three text excerpts, which represent three different text types, the aim of the article is to show which role adjectives play in different communication situations, which communicative purposes they are used for, and which functions they perform in different contexts. It is shown which linguistic and grammatical specifics lead to the fulfillment of a certain communication goal in connection with the intention of the text producer and the text function. Adjectives in contemporary German are examined from the action-oriented and function-oriented perspectives.

Opis:: Analysis of Adjectival Formations on -schwanger The present paper is concerned with the synchronic, quantitative analysis of one aspect of adjectival word-formation. The aim of the paper is to explore the word-formation productivity of derivations ending in ‑schwanger and its frequency of occurrence in texts by taking various structure-types into consideration. I will make an attempt to identify and document the current trends in the lexis of contemporary German language by means of corpus-linguistic methods.
Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die Ergebnisse einer synchronischen Untersuchung adjektivischer Bildungen auf -schwanger vorgelegt. In der linguistischen Fachliteratur wurde dieser Wortbildungskonstruktion wegen ihrer begrenzten Produktivität bislang kaum Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Auch in den bekanntesten einsprachigen Wörterbüchern sind nur wenige Bildungen mit dem Suffixoid -schwanger lemmatisiert. Den Kernpunkt der Arbeit bilden die Erkenntnisse einer Korpusuntersuchung, die mit Hilfe des Deutschen Referenzkorpus des IdS Mannheim durchgeführt wurde. Das gewonnene Belegmaterial wurde einer morphologischen, syntaktischen und semantischen Analyse unterzogen. Aspekte wie Art des Basismorphems, Fugengestaltung und Fugenvarianz kommen im Beitrag ebenfalls zum Tragen. Das Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, über die Aufdeckung struktureller Eigenschaften hinaus unter Anwendung quantitativer Methoden verlässliche Aussagen über Produktivität, Verwendungsfrequenz und Neubildungspotenz des Zweitglieds -schwanger zu machen.
