Opis:
W pracy przedstawiono adaptacyjny algorytm sterowania strumieniem powietrza do zastosowania w bioreaktorze do kompostowania odpadów. Układ steruje strumieniami powietrza dostarczanego do sześciu kanałów bioreaktora.
The paper presents an adaptive air stream control algorithm for use in a bioreactor for waste composting. The system controls the streams of air supplied to the six ducts of the bireactor. Bioreactors of this type are characterized by the fact that the porosity of the charge is very heterogeneous throughout the volume. In addition, during the process, the charge is compacted and blockages for the gas flow often occur. The control algorithm should take into account the formation of blockages and attempt to clear them. In situations where unblocking is impossible, it should ensure proper distribution of air flow in other ducts despite the presence of blockages. The overriding goal of this algorithm is to ensure equal air flow streams in all channels, regardless of differences in flow resistance. Since the air circulation in bioreactors is forced by fans with constant capacity, the algorithm should adaptively determine the maximum average value of air streams that is possible to obtain under given conditions and adjust the control system to achieve it. The paper proposes a solution to meet these requirements.

The operating modes of the automatic control system for electromechanical converters for synchronization of rotor speeds have been developed and investigated. The proposed automatic speed control system allows adjusting the slave engine to the master one in a wide range from 0 to 6000 rpm. To improve the synchronization accuracy an adaptive algorithm is proposed that allows to increase the synchronization accuracy by 3-4 times. The proposed model of an adaptive automatic control system with an observing identification tool makes it possible to minimize the error in the asynchrony of the rotation of the rotors of two electromechanical converters.

Opis:
An adaptive neural network (NN) event-triggered trajectory tracking control scheme based on finite time convergence is proposed to address the problem of trajectory tracking control of underdriven surface ships. In this scheme, both NNs and minimum learning parameters (MLPS) are applied. The internal and external uncertainties are approximated by NNs. To reduce the computational complexity, MLPs are used in the proposed controller. An event-triggered technique is then incorporated into the control design to synthesise an adaptive NN-based event-triggered controller with finite-time convergence. Lyapunov theory is applied to prove that all signals are bounded in the tracking system of underactuated vessels, and to show that Zeno behavior can be avoided. The validity of this control scheme is determined based on simulation results, and comparisons with some alternative schemes are presented.

The paper introduces Extended Identification-Based Predictive Control (EIPC), which is a novel control method developed for the problem of adaptive impact mitigation. The model-based approach utilizing the paradigm of Model Predictive Control is combined with sequential identification of selected system parameters and process disturbances. The elaborated method is implemented in the shock-absorber control system and tested under impact loading conditions. The presented numerical study proves the successful and efficient adaptation of the absorber to unknown excitation conditions as well as to unknown force and leakage disturbances appearing during the process. The EIPC is used for both semi-active and active control of the impact mitigation process, which are compared in detail. In addition, the influence of selected control parameters and disturbance identification on the efficiency of the impact absorption process is assessed. As a result, it can be concluded that an efficient and robust control method was developed and successfully applied to the problem of adaptive impact mitigation.

Opis:
In response to the inability of the flexible DC transmission system connected to the AC grid under conventional control strategies to provide inertia to the system as well as to participate in frequency regulation, a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy is proposed for a voltage source converter (VSC)-based multi-terminal high-voltage direct current (VSC-MTDC) interconnection system. First, the virtual controller module is designed by coupling AC frequency and active power through virtual inertia control, so that the VSC-MTDC system can provide inertia response for AC grid frequency. Second, by introducing the power margin of the converter station into the droop coefficient, the unbalanced power on the DC side is reasonably allocated to reduce the overshoot of the DC voltage in the regulation process. Finally, the power regulation capability of the normal AC system is used to provide power support to the fault end system, reducing frequency deviations and enabling inter-regional resource complementation. The simulation model of the three-terminal flexible DC grid is built in PSCAD/EMTDC, and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by comparing the conventional control strategy and the additional frequency control strategy.

Przedstawiono oparte na tokarce CNC stanowisko badawcze, którego elementem wyposażenia był eksperymentalny układ poboru energii oparty o licznik energii elektrycznej oraz siłomierz. Zastosowane urządzenia pomiarowe pozwalały na rejestrację obciążenia sieci energetycznej, obciążenia napędów obrabiarki, siłę osiową, moment hamujący wiertło, aktualne obroty wrzeciona obrabiarki, pozycję wiertła względem obrabianego materiału i wartości rejestrów parametrów pomocniczych w strategii adaptacyjnego sterowania posuwem.
The work presents the issue of measuring and analyzing energy consumption during a thermal drilling cycle. A research stand based on a CNC lathe was presented, the equipment of which was an experimental energy consumption system based on an electricity meter and a force gauge. The measuring devices used allowed for recording the load on the power grid, the load on the machine tool drives, the axial force, the drill braking torque, the current rotation of the machine tool spindle, the position of the drill in relation to the workpiece and the values of auxiliary parameter registers in the strategy of adaptive feed control. Two cases of a drilling cycle were considered: making a single hole and making a series of holes in one cycle. Five feed control strategies were tested during the drilling cycle, including adaptive feed control and a recursive feed optimization method. For comparison, holes were also made with traditional HSS twist drills. Based on the obtained test results, it can be concluded that the friction drilling method can be included in the energy-saving methods of making holes in thin-walled elements.

The use of multicellular topology in power quality enhancement can reduce the power loss and also dv/dt of power switches, minimize the electromagnetic interference. However, the failure of flying capacitors can reduce the active filtering efficiency and affect the power quality by injecting currents with wave-form distortion (harmonics, notching, noises etc.) in power distribution grid. Therefore, this study presents a faulttolerant control strategy (FTC) allowing to keep the normal operation conditions of a multicellular converter even under failure mode. The obtained results show that the proposed FTC strategy enhances the power quality of power distribution grid when a fault in flying capacitors occurs.

Opis:
Reliability and safety of an electro-hydraulic position servo system (EHPSS) can be greatly reduced for potential sensor and actuator faults. This paper proposes a novel reconfiguration control (RC) scheme that combines multi-model and adaptive control to compensate for the adverse effects. Such a design includes several fixed models, one adaptive model, and one reinitialized adaptive model. Each of the models has its own independent controller that is based on a complete parametrization of the corresponding fault. A proper switching mechanism is set up to select the most appropriate controller to control the current plant. The system output can track the reference model asymptotically using the proposed method. Simulation results validate robustness and effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The main contribution is a reconfiguration control method that can handle component faults and maintain the acceptable performance of the EHPSS.

Opis:
In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode controller (ASMC) is proposed for an electromechanical clutch position control system to apply in the automated manual transmission. Transmission systems undergo changes in parameters with respect to the wide range of driving condition, such as changing in friction coefficient of clutch disc and stiffness of diaphragm spring, hence, an adaptive robust control method is required to guarantee system stability and overcome the uncertainties and disturbances. As the majority of transmission dynamics variables cannot be measured in a cost-efficient way, a non-linear estimator based on unscented Kalman filter (UKF) is designed to estimate the state valuables of the system. Also, a non-linear dynamic model of the electromechanical actuator is presented for the automated clutch system. The model is validated with experimental test results. Numerical simulation of a reference input for clutch bearing displacement is performed in computer simulation to evaluate the performance of controller and estimator. The results demonstrate the high effectiveness of the proposed controller against the conventional sliding mode controller to track precisely the desired trajectories.

Current research in robot compliance control is unable to take both transient contact force overshoots and steady-state force tracking problems into account. To address this problem, we propose a fuzzy fractional order (FO) adaptive impedance controller to avoid the force overshoots in the contact stage while keeping force error in the dynamic tracking stage, where traditional control algorithms are not competent. A percentage gain is adopted to map FO parameters to integer order (IO) parameters by their natural properties, and a fuzzy logical controller is introduced to improve the system stability. The simulation results indicate that the proposed controller can be made more stable than and superior to the general impedance controller, and the force tracking results also have been compared with the previous control methods.

Opis:
The conventional control system is a controller that controls or regulates the dynamics of any other process. From time to time, a conventional control system may not behave appropriately online; this is because of many factors like a variation in the dynamics of the process itself, unexpected changes in the environment, or even undefined parameters of the system model. To overcome this problem, we have designed and implemented an adaptive controller. This paper discusses the design of a controller for a ball and beam system with Genetic Model Reference Adaptive Control (GMRAC) for an adaptive mechanism with the MIT rule. Parameter adjustment (selection) should occur using optimization methods to obtain an optimal performance, so the genetic algorithm (GA) will be used as an optimization method to obtain the optimum values for these parameters. The Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controller will be used as it is one of the most popular controllers. The performance of the proposed controller with the ball and beam system will be carried out with MATLAB Simulink in order to evaluate its effectiveness. The results show satisfactory performance where the position of the ball tracks the desired model reference.

The working conditions of freight electric locomotives with full-weight and empty-weight trains are analyzed. It is shown that due to the use of scalable traction power control technology (discrete-adaptive control algorithm), there is a possibility for more complete use of electric locomotive capacity and, accordingly, a significant increase in its energy efficiency. The main condition for the realization of this possibility is the presence of an individual per-axle traction control system. Corresponding changes in the construction of electric locomotives of previous years of production can be made during modernization as part of factory repair. The calculation of financial savings from the use of these proposals is presented.

Opis:
DC motors have wide acceptance in industries due to their high efficiency, low costs, and flexibility. The paper presents the unique design concept of a multi-objective optimized proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) based controllers for effective speed control of the DC motor system. The study aims to optimize PID parameters for speed control of a DC motor, emphasizing minimizing both settling time (Ts )and % overshoot (% OS) of the closed-loop response. The PID controller is designed using the Ziegler Nichols (ZN) method primarily subjected to Taguchi-grey relational analysis to handle multiple quality characteristics. Here, the Taguchi L9 orthogonal array is defined to find the process parameters that affect Ts and % OS. The analysis of variance shows that the most significant factor affecting Ts and % OS is the derivative gain term. The result also demonstrates that the proposed Taguchi- GRA optimized controller reduces Ts and % OS drastically compared to the ZN-tuned PID controller. This study also uses MRAC schemes using the MIT rule, Lyapunov rule, and a modified MIT rule. The DC motor speed tracking performance is analyzed by varying the adaptation gain and reference signal amplitude. The results also revealed that the proposed MRAC schemes provide desired closed-loop performance in real-time in the presence of disturbance and varying plant parameters. The study provides additional insights into using a modified MIT rule and the Lyapunov rule in protecting the response from signal amplitude dependence and the assurance of a stable adaptive controller, respectively.
