In the contemporary special pedagogy, it is clearly seen, that we are dealing with a situation of passing over scholarly programmes that refer, i.a. to the medical and social model of disability. We remain in a inter-paradigmatic transition period, in which new views on disability are appearing. One of the most popular scholarly approaches is the posthumanism, the characteristics of which are, i.a.: the critique of humanism, the departure from anthropocentrism, the appearance of a new materialism, the direction of research towards objects, animals, as well as, the relations of people and non-people. The example of such posthumanist approach, that may constitute the context for the creation of new models of disability, is the Actor-Network theory developed by Bruno Latour and his associates.

This communication tries to shape and to ground the idea that Rural Studies and Rural Sociology have a particularly promising job to do in re-assembling the Social, the Natural and the Technical within the treadmill of sustainable development. It is argued that the cross-fertilization of the ecological modernization movement and Social Studies of Science and Technology (particularly Actor- Network-Theory) is giving the opportunity to establish a perspective that might enlighten and accompany the processes of making agricultural sciences and technology more ecological. But this requires specific conditions and ways of doing social studies in situations that include those processes.

The purpose of the paper is to analyse the folk understanding of physical and mental illness in Polish and Italian proverbs. The analysis shows that this is not a uniform picture, and that acceptance of disease and itstreatment have had several dimensions in the world of premonitions, superstitions and religion, and the physician treating a disease is just one and not the most important component in the process of recovery. The image of the disease in Italian proverbs seems to be similar to Polish proverbs, though not identical. It is extremely interesting that a part of the folk world connected with diseases and the fight against them has survived in modern Polish and standard Italian languages.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to propose a new conceptual tool and an inspiration for sociological analysis of disability as an alternative to the predominant social model. It first discusses the social model and argues that in spite of its numerous merits it may be regarded as a manifestation of sociological reductionism of the actual complexity of disability. The notions of representation and translation are then contrasted, the former being the core of the social constructionist accounts and the latter being deeply rooted in a post‑constructivist perspective of actor‑network theory. Next, examples of translation, related to data visualization, disability simulation technologies and disability certification schemas are presented and discussed, emphasizing the action possibilities they enable by this impacting both the situation of people with disabilities and policy‑making processes. Finally, it is argued that sociology could engage in not only the examination but also the development of translational tools, which could be an important and welcome contribution of the discipline to disability policies.

Opis:
There are many case studies showing the benefits of the conceptual framework of Actor– Network Theory (ANT). It is enough to mention the classic texts by Bruno Latour on the Amazon forest and Michel Callon on scallop fishing. However, there are not many case studies discussing the circulation of knowledge in the humanities with the use of vocabulary taken from ANT. This text tries to partially fill the gap, analyzing a case encompassing the areas of both literary studies and philosophy. The main topic of the paper is the circulation of Jacques Derrida’s views – or the views attributed to Derrida – as exemplified by one of his theses. The purpose of the text is not to reflect on the value of Derrida’s reflections, but only to show how the knowledge of his thought spread from France, through the USA, to Poland, from the 1960s to the beginning of the 21st century. Besides proving that the ANT vocabulary is suitable for studying the phenomenon of the circulation of knowledge in the humanities, the case study also shows that this vocabulary should be enriched. The author of the text proposes the concept of symbolization to better understand how Derrida and the ideas attributed to him have been perceived in various texts.

Opis:
The text is an attempt to develop a non-anthropocentric pedagogy of things, under which a thesis is put up on the necessity of thinking over the education implied by the anthropocentric way of thinking about what is social. By the means of references to posthumanism, social studies on science and technology and, in particular, to the theory of an actor-network, a way of thinking about the ontology of the educational was proposed, allowing to appreciate the relativity, complexity and hybridity of actors inscribed in the most basic level of (not only) educational existence.

Actor-Network Theory has proven to be highly successful, fulfilling much of its early theoretical and methodological promise. Proponents of ANT have argued, among other things, that an acceptance of the specific (techno-)social ontology which assumes consistent relativity of beings and anti-essentialism will enable us to address the aporia that are haunting sociology. The authors argue that, sociological applications of ANT (at least as regards the dominant understanding of the theory) result in a lowbrow methodology leading to a radical cognitive limitation of the discipline. The text finishes with an attempt to sketch an alternative version of ANT, one with a positivistic inclination opening the path for synthetic sociology.

Objective: Technological transformations have profoundly changed the journalism professions. These transformational processes have been experienced by journalists in a techno-cultural environment where their personal and collective memories were shaped. This study employs oral history as the data collection technique in order to explore the details of this techno-cultural change from the actor-network theory (ANT) perspective. Research methods: A sample of 28 senior Turkish journalists were interviewed about their experiences on the technological transformations in their professional life. The transcribed text from these narrations were qualitatively analyzed by NVivo. Results: Journalists agreed that their work was more satisfactory during their past career, and they had faced some difficulties in new forms of technical practices. They also remembered how they were able to tackle some unexpected technical problems by introducing creative inventions. They generally acknowledged the negative effects of technology on the job cuts. Cognitive value: Interviewees’ narrations display the details of the change in journalism professions.

Opis:
When recorded Polish popular music between 1960 and 1989 is compared to music from the USA and Western Europe, there is a striking difference in the sound of the productions. A positivist narration of these differences might characterize them as being more ‘advanced’: of using newer technologies and the techniques that grew out of them. This article aims to look deeper into these musical and sonic differences and to explore how economic and technological factors affected these differences through a variety of social mechanisms. While a particular set of working practices and value judgments about those practices can be seen to have been maintained by these factors, the article will also look at how that caused a different set of musical and sonic developments. By employing Actor Network Theory underpinned by the ecological approach to perception and embodied cognition, the way that occupational and social roles evolved in Poland’s music industry during this period will be examined. Although the lack of availability of new recording and instrument technologies was important, it will also be seen that by channeling musical creativity in different directions when the new technological options weren’t open, Polish popular music developed differently rather than simply belatedly.

The article investigates a theoretical framework that would enable effective and fruitful studies of biomedicalization. Biomedicalization is the ongoing expansion of medical discourse, the dynamics of which is determined by technological developments. It is related with the dominant economic interests and power. It generates new areas of risk and the scientific controversies. The first discussed theoretical framework is the medical sociology and the sociology of health and illness. Although both proposals have much to offer, they are not sufficient for the problem of biomedicalization. Their main weaknesses are: exclusion of biological knowledge about the disease, the tendency to reductionism, lack of interest in the controversies. Because of these shortcomings, the author of the paper postulates that medical sociology and the sociology of health and illness should be supplemented by actor-network theory. The main points are: the adoption of relational and hybrid way of thinking about social phenomena, broadening the definition of agency and special interest in the controversies.

Widłak ujawnia nowy wymiar intermedialności łączącej muzykę, teatr, malarstwo, a także – nienależące do dziedziny sztuki – oprzyrządowanie do pomiaru fal dźwiękowych, silnik spalinowy i kserografię. W swym artykule Majewski posługuje się teorią aktora-sieci autorstwa Bruno Latoura, odnosząc ją do postępu technicznego w zakresie metalurgii, pirotechniki i trików teatralnych, te zaś łącząc z tytułową rośliną. Rozważania dotyczące widłaka stają się również okazją do zaproponowania perspektywy bio-archeologii mediów jako komplementarnej do geologii mediów już ustanowionej przez Jusiiego Parikkę.
The article is an attempt to present the plant called the lycopodium clavatum as an agent that informed the changes in the aesthetics of theatrical performance of Giovanni Servandoni’s late baroque spectacles in the 18th century, and catalyzed new forms of pyrotechnics which found their continuation in early cinema period, and even today in the performances of German industrial music band Rammstein. Lycopodium reveals a new dimension of intermediality connecting music, theatre, painting, as well as – excluded from the domain of art – implements like sound waves measuring equipment, combustion engine and xerography. Bruno Latour’s Actor-Network Theory is tested here on the grounds of technical developments in metallurgy, pyrotechnics and theatrical tricks, all connected and mediated by certain plant. The study of lycopodium is also a proposal to introduce a perspective of bio-archeology of media as complementary to the geology of media already established by Jussi Parikka.

There is a mismatch between social and biological approaches in the studies on sex and gender. Neurofeminist researchers critically examine gendered impacts of research in neuroscience and cognitive science, as well as develop more adequate and gender‑appropriate neuroscientific studies. However, they still seem to be focused on the brain and its relationship with the environment. Moreover, there are a little ‘science‑phobic’ feminist approaches based on actor‑network theory, and social science and technology studies. In this context, I would like to suggest another account of gender. My account is not centered on individual selves, minds or brains, but it is based on concept of distributed cognitive system and cultural ecosystem developed in the cognitive science. The potential integrational role of the approach seems worthy of attention. On the one hand, there are no contradictions between more important assumptions of distributed cognition theory and social studies. On the other hand, it is not necessarily limited to human beings and their minds. I pay particular attention to distinction between the distributed cognition theory and the extended mind theory. Ones of the most important elements of the ‘gender‑sensitive’ distributed system are artifacts and their affordances, most of all — cultural and canonical ones. In this light, the gender relations seem not only distributed, but also able to be designed.

Opis:
This article explores the phenomenon of elections as a political chronotope, a spatio-temporal realm where the mechanisms of democracy unfold. Its aim is to elucidate the unique socio-political nature of elections. The author establishes that the spatial and temporal characteristics define the format and regulations governing electoral interactions. The term «chronotope» is understood as an interdisciplinary concept that captures the essential connections between temporal and spatial features within a specific order of phenomena. Although extensive research has focused on the social, technical, and psychological aspects of expressing one›s will, the ontology of elections, which encompasses the comprehension of the «unity of time and place of action» and the involvement of political actors in the electoral scenario, has been largely overlooked. Additionally, this study concentrates on the concept of the electoral situation, which delineates the synchronous and diachronic connections wherein citizens’ political choices are positioned, realized, and interpreted. The notion of the electoral situation can be correlated with the term «political landscape», which is only partially related to actual geography but predominantly pertains to the comprehensive conditions of an electoral competition (the coordinate system) and the participants involved in this process. The article’s author illustrates how the electoral situation constructs synchronous and diachronic connections at various levels of political interaction. Notably, these connections are facilitated by political mythologems, which serve as unifying and integrative factors within the electoral chronotope. By examining these mythologems, the author highlights their role in shaping the narrative and symbolism surrounding elections, ultimately influencing the dynamics and outcomes of the electoral process. Overall, this article delves into the intricate relationship between elections and the spatio-temporal framework in which they occur. By emphasizing the significance of the electoral situation and its connection to the broader political landscape, the author sheds light on the multifaceted nature of electoral processes, enriching our understanding of democracy’s fundamental mechanisms.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to study the key theoretical principles of institutional theory as the basis for shaping an accounting system of interorganizational (network) linkages in the cluster and to propose directions for their solution. Methodology/approach: The methodological tool is a systematic analysis of the fundamental provisions of economic teachings and scientific works of accounting researchers. Bibliometric analysis was applied to scientific publications indexed in Scopus, which made it possible to determine the most popular economic theories as thematic guidelines. We also used methods of learning induction and deduction for contextual research of keywords in scientific publications and to establish links between the research characteristics of each of the selected theories. The abstract-logical method was used to formulate scientific-theoretical generalizations and conclusions. Findings: The problem of interorganizational accounting in the cluster is outlined based on the provisions of the institutional theory. Development directions are proposed, and recommendations are given for improving accounting within the framework of agency theory, transaction cost theory, contract theory, and actor-network theory. Originality/value: The results of the study contribute to the analysis of changes and directions of development of interorganizational accounting in the cluster and also complement accounting theory. The article fills a research gap by presenting the development of interorganizational accounting based on agency theory, transaction cost theory, contract theory, and actor-network theory. The originality of the research lies in its creation of a foundational framework and its introduction of a novel perspective on the role of accounting in interorganizational (network and cluster) relations, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of their developmental peculiarities.
