Opis:
The main sources of the Holy Scripture text are, obviously, the biblical manuscripts; though they are not the only ones. We can also find the biblical text among writings of fathers of the Church, in which there are very often many biblical quotations. This article, as the title suggests, presents the Coptic verses of Psalms which can be found in one of the homilies of Abba Shenute: Ad philosophum gentilem. Firstly it contains a short biography of Shenute: his writing activity, and especially the diverse information regarding his homily. Secondly it includes 13 quotations from the Psalms - part of this homily – with their counterparts from the different biblical manuscripts which we have today at our disposal. The comparison between the appropriate Coptic verses of Psalms reveals a great similarity between the quotations of Shenute’s homily and other biblical manuscripts. The small differences are explained below each quotation. Abba Shenute assures us that in his time the Book of Psalms was well known in the Coptic environment.

The article was to present the content and structure of the Lord‘s Prayer in the version that was in Lk. When entering text, are shown in “mimic” the statement three versions that are found in the most ancient Christian tradition: Lk 11,2 b–4, Mt 11,9 b–13 and the Didache 8.2, first in the original language , then the faithful translation into Polish. Next discusses the structure and content of the so-called shorter version of Luke. It was first two retro-translation into Aramaic (E. Lohmeyer, G. Schwarz) that are using the right meaning of the message of the Lord‘s Prayer. Luke‘s version begins with a oneword invocation Pa,ter, which is equivalent to the Aramaic aB;)a;) and the best equivalent in Polish would be Daddy. After the invocation followed five requests (number commonly found in the ancient East and the Bible). The first two requests, the synthetic parallelism, you can specify the theological and anthropological next three ecclesial. The subject of the first wishes praying are: holiness of God and the realization of the kingdom of God. The subject of the second portion is: broadly defined daily bread for God’s forgiveness and forgive all victory in temptation. God is not tempted to do evil, but it can prevent temptation as an experience. Tempter is the devil – the enemy of God and man.

Opis:
This study aims to explore Däbrä Aron, a least known monastic rock-cut church of the 14th century of Christian Ethiopia. Däbrä Aron is named after abba Aron, a famous Ethiopian monk, the founder and hewer of the monastery, which is established at Däbrä Daret, a mountain situated along the upper course of Täkkäzze River. It is a monastery that integrates troglodytic and mountainous monastic landscapes. Like Däbrä Gol, where Aron experienced his monastic life, Däbrä Daret was centre for coenobitic monastic life and opposition against immoral practices ofSolomonic kings who in different times exiled Aron and other monastic men. The church is excavated in to a white soft tuff rock and it is one of the few instances for the declining rock-church tradition of the Solomonic period. Expansion works are made internally by using gudəb, abba Aron’s ax-like excavation tool which is still preserved in the church. It has a complex layout constituting different parts – elongated anteroom, aisles, nave, tripartite sanctuary and compartmented chapels – separated by unevenly shaped columns with rough capitals and arches. This caveis unique largely by its səqurät, aperture of the cave’s roof opened into the sky. The nave’s səqurät, rectangular in shape, allows, except rainfall droplets, entrance of sunlight into the church. The reputation of Däbrä Aron is partly associated with the acceptance of this feature as icon of the architectural excellence and spiritual devotion of abba Aron by whom many Christians were attracted into his monastic life. The cave also has an engraved processional cross decorated with symbolical trifoliate motifs

In the article, the author discusses Jesus’ intitulation of God as Abba and its impact on the idea of God’s fatherhood in the New Testament writings. Responding to the recent criticism of J. Jeremias’s theses (cf. B. Chilton, M.R. D’Angelo), he tries to show that without the initial source, which was Jesus of Nazareth and his public teaching, the dynamic expansion of the idea of God’s fatherhood in the New Testament would not be possible. After a brief presentation of J. Jeremias’s ground-breaking opinion on Jesus’ filial relation to God as Father, encapsulated in the “Abba, Father” cry (Mk 14:36), a second section analyses the texts of the Hebrew Bible and Second Temple Judaism that explore the theological idea of God as Father. The third part focuses on the NT witnesses to God’s fatherhood, i.e. God both as the Father of Jesus Christ and the Father of all believers (υἱοθεσία). In conclusion, the literary evidence preserved in the NT writings and rational arguments point to Jesus of Nazareth as the source and starting point of the NT idea of God’s fatherhood. Jeremias’s study is still valid, and the address “Abba-Father” uttered by the historical Jesus remains the most concise and fullest expression of his filial relation to God.
