Opis:
Determining an optimum height is remarked as one of the most important issues in heap designing and this is obtained by calculating the number and the height of heap lifts. Although the increase of lift height has benefits in heap leaching method from economic point of view, it will reduce the stability and make process problems such as low permeability. The current paper analyzes the effect of sulphuric acid irrigation on the strength parameters of Miduk oxide copper ores. In addition, the result of the process experiments have evaluated with different irrigation rates as well as variable conditions of permeability. From process view, approximately 75% of copper is recovered at irrigation rate of 8 l/h m². Due to the significance of economic and process parameters in determining the optimum height of lifts, these parameters are simultaneously studied. The results are demonstrated that although the increase of irrigation rate and permeability can lead to more copper recovery in this mine, it will remarkably decrease the stable height of lifts. Moreover, changes in the bed slope will have a similar effect on the height of the lifts.

Opis:
Determination of physical properties of porous geological materials is of great importance for oil industry. The knowledge of rocks properties is usually obtained from porosity studies such as pore size distribution, specific surface area determination, and hydrodynamic permeability calculations. This study describes determination of elemental composition and measurements of the particular physical properties of geological samples (porous sandstone rocks) by means of the nuclear and X-ray microprobes at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków, Poland. The special emphasis has been put on the computed microtomography method. Measurements have been carried out in close cooperation with Department of Geophysics, FGGEP AGH in Kraków, Poland. Chemical composition of the Rotliegend sandstone rock samples (few millimeters diameter), extracted from a borehole at 2679.6 m, 2741.4 m and 2742.4 m depth have been investigated using the 2.2 MeV proton beam (proton induced X-ray emission technique). Next, measurements of the porosity and the specific surface area of the pore space have been carried out using the X-ray microtomography technique. Basing on microtomographic data obtained with the high spatial resolution, simulations of the fluid dynamic in the void space of porous media have been carried out. Lattice Boltzmann method in the 3DQ19 geometrical model has been used in order to predict the hydraulic permeability of the media. In order to avoid viscosity-permeability dependence the multiple-relaxation-time model with half-way bounce back boundary conditions has been used. Computing power-consuming processing has been performed with the use of modern grid infrastructure.

Opis:
K-feldspars in pegmatites from Luc Yen gem mining area, Yen Bai province, Vietnam were studied by X-ray fluorescence, X-ray powder diffraction and the Raman spectroscopy. Chemical analysis determined the K-feldspars in the form: of (K_{0.8909}Na_{0.0388}Ca_{0.002}Pb_{0.0042}Cs_{0.0024}Rb_{0.0338})(Al_{0.9975}Fe_{0.0053}Ti_{0.0004})Si_{2.988}O₈. Both X-ray powder diffraction and Raman spectroscopy indicated Luc Yen K-feldspars as orthoclase phase. Together with the values of Al content of the T1 tetrahedral sites in orthoclase, it is understood that Luc Yen pegmatites are of young ages (Cenozoic) and shallow intrusive types.
