Opis:
The nonadiabatic electron transfers in donor-acceptor-acceptor systems are investigated using three potential energy surfaces and two reaction coordinates via the stochastic Liouville equation to describe time evolution of the three excited electronic states: (1) D*-A-A, (2) D$\text{}^{+}$-A$\text{}^{-}$-A and (3) D$\text{}^{+}$-A-A$\text{}^{-}$. The electronic dephasing processes are taken into account phenomenologically in terms of dephasing constants. The couplings between surfaces are effective along the intersections of pairs of surfaces in the two-dimensional coordinate space. Special situations occur in the reaction coordinate space when three surfaces are nearly degenerate. The interplay between the sequential electron transfer processes and the superexchange process is analysed for different: reorganization energies, electronic coupling, free energies for the electron transfer, dephasing rates, and temperature. The time dependent contribution of the superexchange process to the charge separation in the triad system is analysed using the time dependent rate functions. It is shown that in the nonadiabatic limit of electron transfer the influence of the electronic dephasing processes for low barrier reactions can be accounted for by appropriate changes in the reorganization energies. The present model is compared with the experimental results concerning the charge separation in the bacterial photosynthetic reaction centers.

Opis:
The $\text{}^{1}$H NMR relaxometry in combination with water proton spin-spin relaxation time measurements and rheometry have been applied to study the ionic gelation of 1% w/w aqueous low methoxyl pectin solution induced by divalent Ca$\text{}^{2+}$ cations from a calcium chloride solution. The model-free approach to the analysis of $\text{}^{1}$H NMR relaxometry data has been used to separate the information on the static (β) and dynamic (〈τ$\text{}_{c}$〉) behaviour of the systems tested. The $\text{}^{1}$H NMR results confirm that the average mobility of both water and the pectin molecules is largely dependent on the concentration of the cross-linking agent. The character of this dependency (β,〈τ$\text{}_{c}$〉 and T$\text{}_{2}$ vs. CaCl$\text{}_{2}$ concentration) is consistent with the two-stage gelation process of low methoxyl pectin, in which the formation of strongly linked dimer associations (in the range of 0-2.5 mM CaCl$\text{}_{2}$) is followed by the appearance of weak inter-dimer aggregations (for CaCl$\text{}_{2}$ ≥ 3.5 mM). The presence of the weak gel structure for the sample with 3.5 mM CaCl$\text{}_{2}$ has been confirmed by rheological measurements. Apart from that, the T$\text{}_{1}$ and T$\text{}_{2}$ relaxation times have been found to be highly sensitive to the syneresis phenomenon, which can be useful to monitor the low methoxyl pectin gel network stability.

Opis:
The aim of this work was to compare free radical properties of some model neuromelanins obtained from dopamine and its mixture with 5-S-cysteinyldopamine in various molar ratios. The EPR method was used in these investigations; the samples were detected at X and K bands. The parameters of EPR spectra, free radicals concentrations in air and in vacuum, the influence of microwave power and temperature on intensity of resonance signals were measured.

Opis:
Cholestanone ($C_{27}H_{46}O$) single crystals were irradiated with ⁶⁰Co-γ rays at room temperature. The spectra were recorded for different orientations of the crystal in the magnetic field at 120 K using the EPR technique. Radiation damage center was attributed to $CHCH_2CH_2$ radical. The principal values of the hyperfine coupling tensor of the unpaired electron with the protons and the principal values of the g tensor were determined. The results were found to be in good agreement with the existing literature.
